Prior to calling Ultimate Carpet Cleaners, I was motivated to try out carpet cleaning service through another company advertising through groupon. I had a bad experience just getting a quote from them on the phone. They nickel and dime everything. And tried to pursued me to get services I didnt want, and right off the bat, he challenged me to find another place with a better quote. The actual cost vs the groupon cost was 5x more, even though the only additional thing I wanted was pet stain removal. Well, after that, I was determined to find a better company. I was referred to Ultimate Carpet Cleaners through another carpet cleaning service that did not cover oakland/ san leandro area. The exchange and quote we agreed on over the phone was so easy and much more reasonable so we booked it. They dont make a big deal about what kinds of stains you have, and try to upsell you. AND the price was lower than the groupon company. Anyhow, today they did their magic, and I was stressing over which area to cover, he reassured me to not worry and that he'd take care of it. My wife hired this company and unfortunately, there were some issues with the carpet cleaning job they did. I used them because they are cheaper than other cleaning services. We were using the same guy for years but because of rate increases, we tried out Ultimate due to the great reviews here. Turns out, you get what you pay for. The cleaners seemed to be in a hurry and left out obvious stains on the floor until I pointed them out. They also skip out on corners unless you point them out. Then after drying, our carpets felt very sticky -- seems like the soap they use has left a residue that stays when the carpets are dried. My previous carpet cleaner NEVER used soap and only did hot water extraction. So the carpets always felt fresh then. I then consulted with a carpet supplier and they told us that carpets should ONLY be cleaned using hot water extraction and no soap or other agents. They said that by using soap and other agents, dirt adheres to the carpeting much more easily and you'll feel that residue. So because of this, we were disappointed by the outcome. Rodrigo strives to please his customers, but I am not entirely confident about his cleaning methods. I would rather he not use the soap. One more thing, I was also told that you can check the quality of the service by the amount of steam they produce when cleaning. The less steam you see, the less effective the cleaning can be. read more

Maybe I had high expectations coming in because of all the 5 star reviews, but I was a little disappointed with my experience. First the salesmanship was too much for me. I had an appointment with another company first, but it didn't work out, so I called Rodrigo. He was on time, very friendly and fast. The price was also competitive. There were some spots that were still stained however, but I was moving at the time and didn't spend as much time spot checking as I should have. At some points, Rodrigo asked me why he was not my first choice even though he had good reviews on Yelp. I explained that the other company I called also had good reviews and chose them because they were really thorough about explaining the process over the phone. However, Rodrigo wouldn't let it go and kept asking for more details. It was annoying because we were busy moving at the time and I was trying to rush back to work. In the end, I asked him to drop it and that I ended up calling him so I didn't know what the issue was. He has a great sense of pride in his work, which is good, but please, spare me the salesmanship. If it wasn't for that, I would've rated his service 4 stars overall. I am hands down thoroughly IMPRESSED. I just moved with a truck load of stuff and the carpets were just not up to par. I call Coit and they say they will be there the next day in the afternoon. They come at 10am. I'm not home. GREAT - after battles with moving appointments all week - I'm simply not happy. Coit said the BEST they could do for me is come in the evening. Negative. CLICK! I called scoured YELP for a replacement - and got a hold of Rodrigo at noon with my problem. He was there by 3 and my carpets look brand spankin' new...and smell GREAT. He was 30% less than Coit and worth much more. He gets down to business and simply takes great pride in his work. Now I don't recommend you call him last minute like I did if you can help it. I happened to get lucky - he moved a couple of willing appointments around to take care or me. So call ahead of time if you can. Me? I'll probably call last minute again like I did this time cause that's just what I do - not on purpose...its just in my blood. Some people have a tardy issue...they call it CPT. In my world, the only clock that matters is mine...its called Filipino time... When letting a service company into my home for the first time, the biggest cause of anxiety is trust. Not quality, not price, not speed....just trust. Two young lads came in. Did the work in 60 minutes or so (2br). Left the carpet clean and smelling good. I feel like I could have haggled over the price a bit, but not too expensive so it's okay. The reason they didn't get 5 stars is that they didn't move any piece of furniture. I expected them to at least move the sofa - it's not too heavy and there's no chance to break anything. For 2 flights of stairs and 3 rooms, it was $195. The 2 guys did a thorough job that the majority of the carpet stains came out and everything was done within an hour. I called Rodrigo literally on July 4th (when you're moving, it's hard to remember that it's a national holiday). He picked up the phone and was pleasant and professional. I needed him to clean an 8x10 area rug that I got from overstock which came kind of grungy, but I felt getting it cleaned would have been easier than getting an exchange considering the size of the shipment. He quoted me $60 where others quoted me $100 for the same service. With all the good yelp ratings, I decided to give it a go and we scheduled a time for him to come. On the morning of, he gave me a text and asked if he could stop by a little bit earlier as he had some free time. I really appreciated the notification and the fact that he was able to come earlier. Serviced on 11/12/14. My carpets are dried and they look amazing! Guadalupe and his helper were extremely friendly. Most of the time I feel very uncomfortable/unsafe having any type if handy man here while my husband is not home. But, I didn't get that vibe from them at all. They did my master bedroom, sons room, 13 stairs and living room (not to forget they also clean two small throw rugs i had in an additional walkway) for an ridiculously affordable price! They were on time, with 30 minutes notice in advance and they were done within 1 hour! I was kind of worry they rushed through it and didn't get my carpets cleaned enough. But, I'm extremely satisfied! They got 95% of the dirt off my carpets. A++++ all around. At the initial call, Rodrigo Sr was detailed and able to accommodate a specific time slot that I only had available. His response was no problem. Two man team showed up. Rodrigo jr was very knowledgeable and detailed. I asked him to clean a couch which hasn't been cleaned in years. He was honest and said most should come out but some might be tougher stains. They took the time to keep pre-soaking the sofa and using the machine. Both sides of the cushions and pillows. End result is the couch came out great looking. Man I never would have guessed it could look that nice again after the thrashing it gets from the kids. The rug came out very nice. They were quick and efficient. I was very happy with the drying time overall as in about 4 hours the rugs were about 90% dry. That I liked as my kids were not going to stop playing on the carpet. After seeing all the great reviews on Yelp, we called Rodrigo to schedule a cleaning for our badly stained carpet in our small laundry room. He had an opening later that day, and showed up right on time (even calling beforehand to let us know he was on the way). After years of spilled detergent, fabric softener, and daily foot traffic which had ground everything in, we didn't have particularly high hopes. But to our surprise, Rodrigo and his assistant had the carpet looking great when they were done. After it dried overnight, we did find one tiny spot that had escaped detection the day before. We called to let Rodrigo know, and he happily came back to zap that last pesky spot. How can you not be impressed by the way Rodrigo runs his business? Great customer service, great quality of work, and great follow through. For $50, we had a small carpet looking like new that we had just about written off as a lost cause. After researching and getting quotes from several different local carpet cleaners, I decided to check Yelp because I wasn't quite satisfied with either the availability of the companies or their quotes. I then stumbled across Ultimate Carpet Cleaning, and with a perfect 5-star Yelp status, I figured to give them a call. When I called, I spoke directly with Rodrigo who was very pleasant and straightforward. He asked me what would be my best time and what I needed done (8 rooms + 1 hallway + stairs) and he gave me a kick-ass quote and told me he could do it that night at 6PM. I was pretty skeptical, and figured he would do like many contractors and give you a low-ball offer then gauge you when they show up to do the work. When Rodrigo arrived (it was 6:30 but he had called me well in advance to let me know he would be there at that time), I asked him if he wanted to do a walk thru first and he told me: "THE DEAL HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE KEITH. WE'RE GOING TO START." Seriously? I was very pleasantly surprised and sure enough, they got right to work. It took him and his assistant about an hour and a half to go over the entire house and when they finished, the carpet looked immaculate. He told me if there were any problems or if he missed a spot just to call him and he would go back over it. To elaborate on price, he only charged me $250 cash...which was cheaper than my cheapest quote ($280 with vague square footage estimates) and well under my most expensive quote ($790 for ChemDry...whatever the hell that is). A very substantial difference. Moving forward, I will not use anyone except Rodrigo. His professionalism, service and price cannot be beat. I will be calling him again next week for another job and will be recommending him to anyone I know in the area. Do not waste your time searching for competing quotes. Go call Rodrigo! read more
