My friend recommended this place for us to eat at while I was visiting. It was such a fun experience. We each got 5 different temaki rolls. I tried the toro and scallion, spicy tuna, yellowtail and scallion, salmon serrano, and the spicy lobster rolls. Everything was amazing! The server was very nice and helped us while ordering and the chefs prepared the temaki rolls in front of you! The corn ribs were delicious as well and the churros were great, though didn't have a super mochi texture feel. We were seated at the bar seating where you could see the chefs making the temaki rolls. We had a reservation and it came in handy as it got pretty busy when we were there for dinner time! Really delicious and creative temaki rolls. I especially enjoyed the crunchy rolls, which have delicate bits of puffed rice balls stuck to the nori. The spicy crab dynamite was very hot; just out of the broiler. Even the simple red crab California tasted very fresh and had a generous pile of snow crab on top. The Maitake truffle was the most unusual - almost meaty strips of mushroom with truffles. All the ones we tried were delicious and worth ordering again. We also enjoyed the seared shishito peppers with miso sauce, and the fresh crunchy pickled cucumber appetizers. It was fun to sit at the counter and watch the chefs working on your rolls. They timed it perfectly so everyone got a roll at the same time; and the seaweed was toasted nice and crunchy. We will definitely return to try more items on the menu! read more

Delicious handrolls :) A good decent find. It's nice to sit and see our sushi chefs make them at bar seatings but I think I would prefer the tables since the rolls seems to come out faster for them... for reference it took between 15-20 min each time for a single roll to come out. Service was friendly just a bit slow imo :) note if you said no wasabi when initially ordering, make sure to mention it again with the chef a few times. They are overwhelmed with customers so could be forgetful. 2/5 of my rolls had wasabi when I specifically am not a fan of it. They were not remade when I mentioned it to the chef, so I just left it on the side. Bummer, it did ruin the taste of the roll for me though so I couldn't properly enjoy it. Nami Nori has been on my list of places I wanted to try since I first stumbled upon them on Instagram. We came in on a Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch and it was everything I hoped for! The inside is clean and bright - lots of light colors to expand the space. Our server was excellent, explaining the menu to us to help us choose and offering her suggestions for appetizers. We got both of her picks - the wasabi cucumber tataki was crisp and refreshing! The spicy tuna dip was also excellent - some heat, but not overpowering. The tuna was so fresh. We tried 9 hand rolls. The tuna poke was my favorite, but truthfully they were all delicious so I'm not sure you could go wrong with any of them. We finished our meal with the mochurros which are a cross between mochi and churros, served with a homemade lemon curd. The churros were fresh and delicious, light and airy. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made through their website. It was so freshing and that hint if wasabi really set it off. - Furikake fries 2/5: Fries were semi soggy and very bland. Great food and ambiance, but service was lacking a lot. Right off the bat when we sat down, our server was a bit rude and condescending. After we ordered, one of my friends asked for a fork and knife since they had dental surgery recently and was met with a dismissive tone. We had to remind him 3 times for the fork and knife, and ended up asking another server before my friend finally got it. We also had to remind him for multiple individual orders (miso soup, green tea) that were forgotten. On to the good: the food! Everything we had was delicious! No misses. Loved the mushroom dip and all of the temaki. The wooden boards and seaweed boxes were very intuitive to use. I had been here several years ago, when they were serving each temaki seaweed individually plastic wrapped, so it was really nice to see this sustainable alternative! Really happy with takeout dinner from here the other night although the rolls had a biit too much filling for my taste. All the seafood and veggies tasted super fresh and the hand-rolls were packaged impeccably. Each one was hand-wrapped and the order included instructions on how to remove the rolls from the wrap. Made a reservation for the bar with a group of 4 friends around 1pm. We were quickly seated, and the staff explained the menu and recommended some appetizers since it was our first time here. We all made our own 5 piece sets and shared a mushroom dip appetizer. Since we sat at the bar, the sets were presented to us one piece at a time at a steady pace. My favorite bites were the x.o. scallop and the toro scallion. I also had the yellow tail scallion, salmon serrano, and the tuna poke. All of them had a great balance of flavors. The fish was all fresh and melted in your mouth soft. The tanginess of the x.o. scallop and the spiciness of the salmon serrano help enhance the favor of the temaki without overtaking the main protein. My friends and I walked into Nami Nori and were so surprised to find that they could seat us immediately at the bar. Shortly after, there was a crazy line of people waiting. It got better because after ordering the Signature hand roll set and some wine, my friends and I were obsessing at how flavorful each hand roll was! And we also didn't think we would get full, but these 5 hand rolls and a few appetizers definitely did the trick!! The flavor profiles were also so different from one another, so it made the experience very interesting without negotiating quality. The restaurant looked fairly new, clean, and up to date. On this trip, my friend gave me several recommendations and we chose Nami Nori - a casual temaki bar that has locations in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. We started with the tempura misto, furikake fries, and the spicy tuna dip. For the temaki, you have your choice of choosing a set selection (signature, starter, or vegan) or you can create your own 5 piece temaki set from their selection. Had a really nice lunch here! I didn't have a reservation but it was a wednesday afternoon post blizzard and they had room for me at the bar. I was dining alone so I couldn't get any appetizers but they sounded amazing. I opted to pick my own 5 temaki, which I would recommend over their starter sets. It's pricier, but there are just some stand outs that economically they couldn't have in the discounted sets. I'm spoiled with amazing seafood living in Maine, and the quality was totally up to par. Completely disagree with any review that mentions subpar quality. So my chosen set included: tuna avocado, coconut shrimp, spicy lobster, sweet potato, and toro scallion. My favorites were the toro and scallion, and the fish was just perfect. It's a classic combo and executed so well. It was the last thing they served to me, which I preferred. Didn't even get a picture, I was so pumped to have it. #2 was the coconut shrimp, it was amazing. I was so thankful for it because being gluten free I never get to have it. Or maybe #2 was the sweet potato tempura, another thing I can never order. It was really good, all I can say. If given the opportunity I think I could clear like 10 of them. The others were super fresh and delicious as well. The spicy lobster had crunchy potato pieces on top that really made it. Also had a strawberry sting, which was, again, so yummy. I had a great experience at Nami Nori a few days ago. I went on the weekend and highly recommend booking a reservation. Even for a weekend lunch, the restaurant was super packed. My friend and I ordered a variety of hand rolls with the stand outs being the Serrano salmon and the scallop hand rolls. Both of the rolls were packed with flavor and super flavorful. What kept me from giving Nami Nori 5 stars was a few things: 1. Service can be spotty at times. I totally get that the restaurant was packed but given that it is a smaller restaurant, I expected better service particularly at this price point. Who knows? Maybe this was just a one off. 2. Menu items weren't available. I loved my friend's Yuzu drink but found out that they were sold out of it. This was a bummer particularly since the restaurant recently opened when I arrived. 3. I have had better hand rolls at other NYC restaurants. These hand rolls weren't the best that I have had. I felt that the biggest challenge was that some of the hand rolls were too creative and took the flavor away from the fish. Overall, I still had a great experience at Nami Nori and would come back with friends. It just didn't cross my bar for a 5 star sushi spot. Maybe next time it'll be better. read more

The crispy rice chips perfectly complemented the dip. Temaki - we got the vegan set which comes with avocado "toast", eggplant, tofu chimichurri, sweet potato tempura, and cucumber black sesame. We also added on the mitake truffle and the summer special spicy tomato temaki. Every single one was delicious. I loved the crunchy texture on the avocado toast and wish we could have added that to some of our other temaki. My person favorite was the tofu chimichurri and the spicy tomato. I loved the kick in the spicy tomato. I highly recommend all of the vegan temakis. Service: Service was excellent. Everyone there was so kind and patient and answered all of our questions and we were both new to the concept. They offered really good suggestions and feedback. Everyone was quick to refill our water and wine glasses. Price: It's fairly reasonably priced for the experience, quality of food, portion size, and uniqueness. I've never really been a big sushi guy, but my girlfriend really wanted to try this place out. We sat at the counter and they have you pick out 5 sushi hand rolls each. Turns out, they're all very very good. I think my favorite was the coconut shrimp. The one that surprised me the most, however, was the salmon Serrano. It had a lot of kick and was really tasty. I think my least favorite of the group was the XO Scallop, but it was still tasty. The coconut shrimp hand roll was amazing! If I could have had just multiple of those I would have, but unfortunately for me it came towards the end of my hand roll sequence so I was too full by that point. I also tried the crab and lobster hand rolls. They were okay, but paled in my opinion to the shrimp roll. Service was amazing, they were very attentive to when we were done with the current roll. They would also explain each roll as it was presented. At the end of the meal they served us with complimentary tea which was the perfect ending to a gluttonous lunch. I love a temaki hand roll and the flexibility of ordering as much or as little as you're hungry for. This location is super cute, there's some little tables outside for patio seating and a few tables inside as well as counter seating. We started with the Tempura Misto of calamari, shrimp, onion, and zucchini with a yuzu aioli and Calabrian chili. Their tempura is very good, I like the variety and it doesn't feel like the fry is too overly heavy. Of the five hand rolls I ordered, the most exciting or new flavor combos I found included the Fried Oyster Temaki with green garlic hollandaise and ume pickled onion, the Aka Ebi with the yuzu kosho soy, and the Spicy Lobster with butter poached tobiko, shiso, and crispy potato. Service is always efficient, friendly, the rolls come out in a timely manner so it's a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner if you're on a time crunch. I also was able to make a reservation in advance, which made it extra easy. Amazing customer service. I really wanted the signature set, but the waitress warned me about each item on the menu that contained my sesame allergy in it. She also confirmed if cross contamination would okay. She and the chef were so kind and caring for my allergies that they made accommodations to the signature set, even though they recommended that I get the other set to best work with my allergies. The tuna crunchy onion handroll substitute for the tuna poke handroll ended up being my favorite too! Loved how much protein there was snuck inside and the crunch from the onions and seaweed. Wanted to try this since a lot of our friends have been and were posting about it. It is definitely very aesthetic inside. We were able to sit at the bar and see them make the rolls in front of us which was nice as part of the experience. We were able to secure a reservation (for a deposit) for a Tuesday at 5pm. It was their last available reservation for that day so I suppose we got lucky! The restaurant specializes in hand rolls that cost anywhere from $7-15 each. However, if you get one of their pre-selected sets (5 rolls), each roll comes out cheaper. But do keep in mind that you probably won't enjoy EVERY roll in the mix, but hopefully there will be some that are especially to your liking. I got the cheapest set which came with an assortment of Tina, salmon, and a California roll. I liked maybe 3/5 rolls, with the worst being the California roll. If I were to come again, I'd suggest ordering 4 rolls that you know you will enjoy rather than trying to save money with 5 rolls that are only suboptimal. The interior was cute and zen, bathroom was gorgeous. Honestly, I expected the food to taste better considering this is a Michelin restaurant. And since the day that I came on was sunny, they opened up their patio and it was a great vibe to dine at for brunch. Service here was pretty quick and friendly. I got their spicy tuna dip and their signature temaki set. Everything was delicious. I loved their spicy tuna dip and it came with so much tuna (they had to give us more crackers to finish it).
