Hands down the best meal we had in Nehalem! Both the beef and chicken were incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. Even my ultra-picky kids cleaned their plates. Paired with the lovely rice, it was a flawless, deeply satisfying meal from start to finish.

Any new restaurant is a cause for excitement in Manzanita. This cute spot has a small Yakitori menu with a few sides and drinks. Located in the old city hall building on the main street in town, it is currently operating as a take-away. The food was tasty with a large portion of rice and small cucumber salad (lightly dressed) accompanying a skewer of meat. Currently hours are 11:00a - 5:30p daily (except closed on Tuesdays).

We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed it! We ordered everything on the menu. The shumai was especially popular amongst our group. The skewers were clean, simple, and deliciously charred. They flavor the rice lightly with a teriyaki & sweet chili sauce, which is nice. My only negatives are that the prices for the portions are pretty high, but I understand its a small beach town & they've got to keep it going. Just be prepared for that & know the taste of the meal doesn't disappoint. I would say skip the bao bun, as I'm so confident it's just a trader Joe's pork bao as I've lived on them for years and know the flavor and texture of their filling so well, I recognized it at first bite. It might excite locals out here who dont have TJs close, but out of towners like us-not so much.

    Outside looking in.

New eats in Manzanita. Limited bento menu, chicken, steak or tofu. Served with rice and cucumber salad. Built for takeout. No tables is chairs yet, but the place is brand new in the old city hall building. My chicken bento was fine but nothing special. Is $14 for a standard bento the going price nowadays? It seemed expensive for a standard portion to me.

We will be back! Awesome new family own business with good people. Just up the street from downtown Manzanita! Need to try if you're a local or just passing through looking for a good, small menu bite to eat.

The scallop dinner was cooked to perfection, sweet and buttery with a beautiful sear. I always love the choice of a baked potato too! Beyond the food, the staff is warm and friendly, the vibe is relaxed and family-friendly, and the wine list is reasonable. This is exactly the kind of reliable, welcoming spot you want to visit. We'll definitely be back!

Not so long ago you would walk into a Resturant, a local business, a shop of any kind and employees were happy to see you and grateful for your business. With a few exceptions this feeling is dying in most businesses. The ownership has empowered employees with zero skin in the game to be the speaking agents for their business. I don't think that the message we get as consumers matches what the ownership would want. When I walked into the Big Wave Cafe tonight I got nothing but attitude from a young lady who acted very overwhelmed with the amount of customers in the Resturant. The place was very busy. Lots of staff standing back in the food prep area. Just standing and talking. I could tell she was stressed. Long story short I was made to feel as if I was a burden and unwelcome. I was prepared to spend 50.00 on a steak and another togo meal for my wife. Nothing but attitude from this young lady. I simply got up and walked out. There was another couple with two small children who walked out just after me. We spoke for a brief moment as they looked upset. They got the same experience. Be prepared to be talked down to and treated like they don't care if your there or not. We have eaten here before and never experienced the attitude. What happened ?
