We originally went to another place but didn't go and so we choose this place as a second resort but it definitely turned out for the best. The place is a great hidden gem and as you walk in you see a beautiful outdoor garden with a pond. We walked in and got seated really fast. I ordered the chicken phõ and my dad had the chicken fried rice with sauté green bean with garlic. The server was really fast about our food and came right when we ordered it, which was really nice because we had to get back on the road again. Tucked away on a quiet road past the bustling store fronts of Front Street, Umi Cafe truly embodies tranquility. To be fair, this may be partially due to it picking up vibes from a neighboring spa and the quaint garden right outside the door. Umi offers several shareable plates, a selection of noodle soups and a number of hot teas and bubble teas. Surprisingly, they even have a couple options of rotis and curries. Their menu is essentially a showcase of comfort food, which was perfect as the two of us were seeking lunch on a misty day. We started off with Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings ($9), which is one of my go-to dishes at any restaurant. The serving size was quite reasonable as it included a total of seven drumettes and wings. They were piping hot and the skin was perfectly crunchy, but the meat was on the drier side and there wasn't much spice to the chicken. Chopped peppers onions and garlic added flavor, but I expected some heat which was completely missing. For my main entree, I highly considered the Beef Noodle Soup, but ultimately chose their Beef Short Rib Pho ($13) at the last minute. It was a delicious choice! The bowl included a ton of rice noodles, several slices of beef and a couple hefty short ribs. Although the beef wasn't as tender as I would have liked, I appreciated the generous serving. The short ribs were much better...succulent, tender and the meat slid right off the bone. An extra pinch of salt would have perfected them. The beef broth was light and flavorful while crisp bean sprouts and Thai Basil added some freshness. It truly reminded me of a home-cooked meal. My lunch companion ordered the BBQ Pork and Wonton Noodle Soup ($13), which she enjoyed. It came with several shrimp dumplings, BBQ pork, some bok choy and was essenced with sesame oil. We were both completely stuffed after finishing our noodle bowls and overall, lunch was a terrific deal. Service was friendly and very prompt, however, once we received our food, our servers didn't check back on us again until they dropped the bill. While first impressions started out on the right foot, service fell a bit flat by the end. Nevertheless, considering its secluded location and lack of signage, the constant stream of customers in and out spoke volumes. We found a restaurant that fits the whole family. I'm happy that I get to enjoy Asian foods while the fries and wings kept my kiddos happy. The duck curry with rice was delicious. Though, I felt like they can be more generous with duck slices, I enjoy the curry sauce much. It was creamy and has the right spices. The tomatoes and pineapples were nice contrast to the creaminess. The fries and wings were nice. My kiddos were happy to have them with ketchup which they think it's amazing since most Asian restaurant would serve with those sweet chili dips. So silly. Ordered drinks and desserts from here. The drinks were good, albeit a bit pricey. I got the grapefruit ade, which tasted refreshing and had bits of grapefruit in it which I liked. The strawberry latte is also tasty but its basically strawberries, sugar, and milk for 5$. A bit overpriced in my opinion but still tasty. The desserts were awful. 8$ for VERY SMALL dishes. The mango cheesecake tasted nothing like cheesecake - the texture was off, it wasn't very cheesy, very strange. The flan had way too much of the caramel syrup on top -- too sweet. The creme brulee, according to my friend, was very runny and liquidy. Definitely would not get desserts here again. This is hands down the best dining experience I've had in a long time. Food, service, ambience... no place else compares! First off, let's start with the ambience. The restaurant is tucked away behind a grand entrance that looks like you're crossing into a temple, but instead you'll find yourself following a cute garden path that leads you to this cozy eatery. The restaurant space is quite small and doesn't seat a lot of tables, but the ceilings are very high and so this place doesn't feel claustrophobic at all. The decor is so cute, I think this would make for a really nice dinner date or catching up with the girls! James was our server both times, and each visit has been elevated because of him! He is so genuinely nice and happy and helpful! He immediately makes us feel welcome, is very attentive, and checks up on us to see how we are liking the dishes. Now onto my favorite part... the FOOD! Pork belly bun: so delicious, highly recommend. It's got the perfect fatty/meat ratio, and the savory, tender protein was perfectly complemented by the soft bun. Popcorn chicken: really solid, I would definitely order this again as a snack on the go or something to munch on later at home because I preferred some of the other menu items to dine in. Beef and pickles roti: amazing flavor. The pickled cabbage added the perfect acidity and crunch to break up the slightly fatty and very tender, savory beef. Highly recommend. I can't wait to try the eggs and spam roti on our next visit! Curry: I can't remember which curry my boyfriend ordered on our very first visit, but I remember that it tasted amazing! I wanted to order it for myself the second time, but I was too enticed to try something new (: Taiwanese beef noodle soup: so, so good, I can see why this is a customer favorite. The broth is very flavorful and has a slight kick that my weak spice tolerance can handle. I also love that it comes with a generous portion of meat, tofu, and sides that gives this comfort dish a little something extra. Minced and shredded pork: loved this dish! Pork was very tasty and there was a sauce/broth at the bottom of the rice that helped to the flavor of the overall dish. Also love that it came with a nice variety of sides: cabbage, pickled cabbage, pork sung, and tofu. I was expecting something pretty average and ordinary; however, it was anything but! Surprising hidden treasure in Issaquah! We read reviews on yelp, we were looking for a new low pressure place to celebrate a birthday. This fit the bill perfectly. There is plenty of easy parking on both sides of the building. There is a lovely garden with a pond and waterfall outside. The inside is small but clean warm and pleasantly appointed. The service was excellent. The food came quickly and was outstanding. The beef was melt I. Your mouth tender. There are three four choices of chicken wings, we ordered two and both were crazy good. Went to visit the Snoqualmie Falls and after the hike down to the river and back up again, we were hungry! Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try based on all the reviews and so glad we did! Service was great and the food was outstanding! Wish we could have ate outside in the beautiful / tranquil garden but chose to stay indoors due to the smoke from the fires in the area. Ordered the following: Egg & Spam Roti Roll ~ this was meh ~ lthe concept is great but the spam was cut into such tiny pieces and there wasn't enough in there to really taste it. I wanted to like this place but my experience with service was just awful. I knew we should've left the minute we saw a guy there yelling at a family to get their kid... there is just better and nicer way to say things. This same guy would proceed to make us feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed the whole time we were there. I had to send back a dish because it was just too overly sweet and too spicy for me. The guy proceeded to talk crap about me to the kitchen staff in VIETNAMESE not knowing I understood and yelled at the nice waitress for taking back the FULL PLATE OF FOOD instead of just rejecting it. Honestly was scared to eat my food after that because they spat in it... After that experience, I lost my appetite to eat and just wanted to go home. I paid with my credit card and he spotted the very common Vietnamese surname and took my check and card back to the kitchen staff for about 5 minutes. It was a shame that a paying customer had to experience this. I will not be coming back or recommending it to anyone. I only left two stars because my sisters dish was decent, other than that nothing was special. P.S DO NOT expect service unless you want them to talk crap about you in Vietnamese. read more

The wings were nice & crispy, with a super tasty sauce. The green beans reminded me of Din Tai Fung's, so garlicky & cooked perfectly. The pork belly bun was the star for me! Highly recommend! I really enjoyed this place. So much so that I went two days in a row. The outdoor gardens and water features are relaxing and create a serene environment. It really makes you feel transported to another place. The food is deeeeelish. We ordered Taiwanese Noodle soup, Golden chicken wings, Bah Mae, Garlic Steak Cubes, Caramelized Pork Belly and Thai Iced Tea. It was so good!!!! The steak cubes were not chewy or over cooked. The Bah Mae was an exciting blend of flavors. I love Pork Belly so that was especially fun to eat. My favorite was the Taiwanese Noodle Soup though. With a nice tossing of egg noodles with shrimp and pork wontons, grilled pork slices, bean sprouts, scallions, and a lime, we felt like we were transported back to Indonesia and Singapore. Healthy portion too, so 2 people could easily split. Meh on the Taiwanese beef noodle soup unfortunately. The braised tofu was good, but the individual cured beef slices were not good, and not what a beef noodle soup should contain. Instead, it should be braised beef tenderloin or stew meat so that the soup base absorbs the aromatics and natural flavorings from the meat. The soup itself was too heavy-handed in the star anise and soy sauce. Coconut shrimp was a good size, but sauce was too sweet and the filling was weak in flavor and balance. The mango milk tea with fruit jelly was too sweet and heavy-handed in the milk. Wouldn't get those again. The staff were incredibly sweet and accommodating, and we enjoyed our time in the quaint surroundings. Ultimately, we won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

This place is a bit tucked away. Out front is the spa and then behind it is a cafe serving delicious fusion vietnamese food. I would not have known about it if not for my vietnamese co-worker. And I am glad he sharedt his great little whole in the wall. The restaurant has ourdoor seating space but currently is only doing indoor. I was there earlier in the week and they were following covid rules. Place was clean and good/prompt service. I had the Umi noodles which is a stir fry with shrimp and bokchoy. It was really good. Not something I've had in any other vietnamese restaurants. They also had delicious garlic fries (it's fusion). They have 6 variations of chicken wings and some other fusion items. Of course they are a Vietnamese restaurant so they also had Pho. We didn't get the pho so can't comment on it. Overall I really enjoyed my meal and plan on going back soon. read more
