I had the duck bun last night and it was delicious. It was mildly spicy, sweet, and salty - well balanced. I've also tried the garlic and basil wings and found them excellent. Ordered pork Bahn mi and caramelized pork belly. Pork belly was not cooked properly, there was no caramelization to the fat, instead it was gelatinous, squishy, chewy, and not tasty at all. I ate around the fat, which is usually my favorite part. The barn mi was forgettable, too much bread to filling, not enough mayo, not enough pork, lazy application of condiments (cilantro wasn't chopped, just whole sprigs laid on top, difficult to get a nice bite). Overall unimpressive and it may be a while until I go back. Mediocre at best. read more

This place is well hidden! I've lived in the area for years and have driven by many times without noticing this was a restaurant. The location is beautiful. The service was quick and courteous. I will say it was slightly more expensive than I'm used to spending on pho. I also had a seat where I was able to see a lot of dust and dirt in the vents and near the kitchen which made me less appealed by the food. We will likely come back to give it another shot though! read more

Okay. So I have to start by saying... the food (although it HAS to be precooked because it came out waaaaay too fast) was all really good. We loved the curry, the salt and pepper wings, the green beans, all of it! The only complaint on the food is that the szhewaun beef is served cold (the menu doesn't mention that). Now for the service. And I read other reviews, actually after dining, and couldn't agree more. The guy that waited on us was abrupt, in a hurry, unpleasant and just rude. It was pretty clear that our table of 5 was sharing all of our dishes. We had to ask for bowls to share the curry, we had to ask for more drinks, we had to ask for everything. And that's okay. But his attitude clearly showed that we were an inconvenience and he was ready for us to leave the minute we arrived. So disappointed. read more

I would say this is the WORST place I've ever visited in my entire life. The waiter did not take our orders correctly. He didn't ask again and even double-check the orders. Of course, he gave us the wrong dishes (which we did not order), and as we said this is not the one we ordered, he started to yell "it's totally at your fault, you should order your dishes correctly!" I was so shocked and speechless. He even screamed and let us know that he wouldn't care if we don't ever come back to the place. It still makes me get so upset even now. This is the worst experience I've ever had. Please go and enjoy your meals somewhere else, unless you want to make yourself miserable. read more

My daughter and her friends came here the other day. It was pouring rain so they made sure to bring umbrellas. They just capped off an awesome volleyball season by finishing first place at IMS. Umi cafe is where they hoped to enjoy a boba drink and then head out to watch the high school girls team. No one was rowdy, no one was soaked, and they were kicked out into the rain because apparently "you can't just show up here and each buy one drink and that's it." ....um...it's a cafe...that's what people do. They were not given any explanation as to why they were yelled at. They had vaccination cards...I don't get it. Needless to say, this was extremely disappointing. We will not be going back if this is how you treat 8th grade girls. read more

If I can give it a 4.5, I would. This place is like a hole in a wall. It's located in a spa and you probably wouldnt even notice it unless you are purposely looking for it. My friend and I came back from a hike and found this place through Yelp and so glad we went in. When you first step in, you see a nice small botanical garden with koi fish and it gives you that tranquility and calming vibe. The restaurant itself also is decorated with vases and flowers and utensils and napkins are in a small basket, so it's a very nature-ish environment. Now to the food: we got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, the tofu roti, and the popcorn chicken. I really like the noodle soup because it came out with all the toppings and meat on the side so you can decide what you want to put in and how much. Eating the soup alone was kind of bland, but once you add the beef, the veggies, the sauce, it was amazing. The beef was super tender and I love that it has a hint of spice to it. The popcorn chicken was also amazing, it was piping hot and super crunchy and there was definitely more chicken than the batter. It wasn't overly salty or greasy and it is probably one of the better popcorn chicken I had. The roti to me was probably my least favorite: it was literally like chips and dips while I was expecting a wrap. But besides that, the tofu was really small pieces that was in the sauce, it wasn't on the roti at all. Although the sauce and roti was good, i wasn't amazed by it. Drove 25 mins to get to the cafe. We were eager to try the food and enjoy the ambience everyone has been talking / posting about. Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience and would not recommend the place to anyone. The wait/server staff was extremely rude, would not answer a very generic question "which one would you recommend between lime and honey chicken wing". Instead of recommending, the waiter guy started screaming at us in front of all patrons, that we should know what we want to order. And that was our very first question - not that we asked a barrage of those. We aptly left. To the rude waiter - adding a zen garden doesn't really do much if you can't show respect and kindness to your patrons. You visibly seemed disturbed / angry. If you were having a bad day at work, we are sorry, but at the same time learn to be kind. It will help attract more business and bring peace to life. read more

I normally do write reviews, but this is a very very dangerous situation - so writing to warn people. This is a very dangerous situation: - Zero ventilation inside. Along with the kitchen smoke, this is a a highly transmissible environment. - Menus are reused. Utensils are handled without any gloves. Water, drinking utensils are out in the open and handled very poorly. - Table is cleaned with a dirty cloth without any disinfectant. Same cloth is used to wipe down a new table. It was gross even without Covid. - Masks of staff are for show and are barely covering the mouth. - Clearly the place is under staffed, and bursting at is seams. This place will cause harm to people. My go to place for soup. Every time I'm sick (but even when I'm not) I crave their roasted chicken soup. Maybe the best chicken soup I've ever had. Always delicious and consistent. I've eaten in a couple times, and love the garden leading in. But their homemade broths are what win me over. read more
