Puffy taco plate

What a shame. All I can say. We stopped by after a wonderful Sunday service at Triumph church. This is going to be 99% about how bad the service is. I'm looking at it both from a customer point of view, and as someone who has kitchen experience. We walked in, it was not completely full, but all the open tables were dirty. We sat ourselves at a dirty table, and it took them awhile to clean it. Anyone here who runs a restaurant knows that is a big no no. I understand if they are slightly behind, but this isn't a 70 table place. It should be manageable for a single person. The key here is management or lack of it. I'm not trying to be mean. The food here is ok, but the service is really bad. Our waitress, bless her heart, was trying so hard, but she was the ONLY one trying. I assume the cashier or hostess, is also some type of manager. Made ZERO effort to help out. I could be wrong, but it seems that way. Ok I will get into the food, which also had horrible service. I order the original, we had the guisada and the puffy taco plate. In the industry you try as hard as possible, to bring out the tables dishes together. As in everyone gets their food close to the same time, unless the restaurant tells you a dish will be longer then give you the option to wait or not. They brought out my parillada original first, with no beans and accompaniments or tortillas, then we waited almost 20 mins for the rest of the food. This was perplexing. We asked the table next door, who were seated when we walked in, and were still waiting on food, if it was always like this, and they said it was their first and last time as well. I asked for corn tortillas, and they brought me extra flour instead. The fam, who are sweeter than me when it comes to reviews, were asking me what was wrong with the service and why it was so bad. It's not lack of personnel. It's bad management and lack of training. The kitchen was a mess. The runner was lost. The young girl cleaning tables was working like she had molasses in her veins. When I say it's a shame, the food here wasn't too bad. It's not anywhere near the best even in that area, but it's not bad. The corn tortillas when I actually got them were spectacular, the sauces were appropriately hot, and the food was well seasoned and cooked. Kudos for using the Sonic type ice in your drinks and having STEVIA! Work on the service, and you could be good overall!

I have reviewed this place before and I'm going to do it again! Lol It's that good! Every taco is on point and they never forget my cheese on the taco (like most places do) The service is always quick and the space is cute and cozy! I believe they are open till 3pm so hit them up for all your yummy taco needs.

This is my second time coming to this place after just moving in the area... I would consider this place to become my breakfast go to. The vibe is very much similar to Tia's Taco Hut, from the menu to inside decoration. The service is a bit slow. I feel they get overwhelmed after having a few guests at a time, drive thru as well. But overall I have yet to be disappointed with the food, it's good texmex.

Disgusting Way too much oil used for these tacos. My daughter couldn't even hold the tortilla without it slipping out of her hand.

Cute restaurant but Disgusting breakfast tacos. Way too much oil used. My daughter couldn't even hold the tortilla without it slipping out of her hand. Filled up 3 paper towels with oil

This hidden gem has some very tasty food!! Had the enchiladas, I always prefer the red Tortillas and not a lot of restaurants use them! I LOVE the chips and salsa!!! Always a good crowd, yet enough space to eat ! Hard to find good Mexican food in alamo ranch but glad we ran across Uncle Joe's! Staff is always attentive and timely!

Homemade tortillas! It was probably pretty tasty, but due to all the grease from my AL Pastor taco, the taste was lost in grease. My tacos had plenty of filling, and Pastor had a great authentic flavor. I think they should give you an extra tortilla, though, to use without all the grease from the meat because my tortilla got pretty soggy. I definitely will go again because the prices are good. The to go stuff, Lilliana was super friendly and made recommendations as well as said, "I appreciate all tips, so please consider leaving one and I did! Tasty flavors just would like to have a do over on the Pastor, grease seeped through the bag and onto my leather console u fortunately but otherwise try it, it's good!

GAME CHANGER! When…read moreI visit San Antonio Plantaqueria is an absolute must. I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

Like pulling up to your primo's…read morecarne asada, the loud one, the one where somehow the music is always right, the grill is always going, and for a few hours nothing else matters. That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. It's all tucked inside El Camino, which adds to the whole vibe, string lights, people hanging out, that easygoing outdoor feel where you lose track of time a little.

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

My wife and I use to frequent this place YEARS ago, the service was good and the food was good,…read moreyears later we decided to go back & mannn the food quality & service has went down terribly! Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!

The atmosphere and lighting create a very intimate vibe, and the darker setting really helps it stand out from other restaurants in Laredo. Just a heads up -- they do have a dress code, which honestly adds to the overall experience. The food was excellent. I ordered the chicken mushroom plate, and all the flavors were bold and well balanced. For drinks, I highly recommend the Jardin Eden. The fusion of lavender, blueberry, fruity liqueurs, and aromatic herbs made it one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. My only complaint was the service. We had a party of 10+ people with only one server assigned to us. He was very kind and professional, but it was difficult to find him throughout the night, especially when we were trying to pay our checks. The restaurant also wasn't very busy at the time, so service felt slower than expected. Overall, this is still a great spot for a special night out, and I would definitely come back.

The fish taco was ok but it had too much salt and could have done with some lettuce and cheese.
