I love a good pastie and often go out of my way to search for new pastie places all over the state. I noticed Uncle Peter's was sold in a few local markets. When I saw they had a local store I had to stop in and try a hot pastie that was not frozen. Walking in the location was old , outdated and had the lights not been on I'd have thought it was closed down. There was one employee sitting in back who seemed like he was just counting down the hours till he could leave. They had a hot beef and broccoli pastie so I bought those along with 4 frozen pasties that consisted of other flavors so i could enjoy them later or the next day. To say i'm disappointed is an understatement . Uncle Pete's Pasties are $10 each and half the size of most places. They have NO FLAVOR at ALL !!! Like I am in shock I have no clue how the broccoli doesn't even have that veggie taste. However none of these over priced pasties had flavor. The gravy was just okay. Gordon food gravy is better :/ All in all this was horribly disappointing from the customer service , the price to the poor flavor. Save your money if you are truly craving a great pastie my vote thus far is Superior Pasties in Livonia or Cousin Jenny's Cornish Pasties in Traverse City. Those two places are cheaper and have pasties that are amazing in taste and quality. One thing I do want to note about Uncle Pete's is the crust. The crust is very flaky and soft which you'd think would also be tasty and buttery. I'm curious if they used to be flavorful but clearly stopped using whatever once made them a staple. :( read more

I saw the good review score on Yelp and wanted to try this place out as I was in the area. I got a fresh beef pastie with beef gravy and 2 frozen for later. To say the pastie was absolutely flavorless is honestly an understatement; I'm still deciding if their mediocre beef gravy made it worse or not. I legitimately cannot believe this place has a 4.6 on Yelp. And yes, I was very surprised when my total came out to $36 for 3 pasties and 2 little sides of gravy. Maybe the product was better years ago but I couldn't even finish half of the pastie with gravy. Will probably give the other 2 I bought to the homeless. read more

After 10 years of driving by this cute store, my family and I decided to stop in and pick up dinner. We were pleasantly surprised with the abundance of flavors to select from. They have pasties available ready to eat, chilled, and frozen. They also have a wide selection of soups and ready to heat dinners (stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbage, Shepard's pie). We ended up selecting the chilled options of Spinach and Feta, Pepper-jack Beef, Elk, and Chicken with Coleslaw. We heated the oven at 350 and baked them for 30 minutes. They were 100% up north quality! Each contained a hearty amount of filling. Our favorites were the pepper jack beef and spinach and feta. The coleslaw was also delicious! read more

Finally tried this place after driving past for years and years. I'm not really a fan of pasties I guess. I was disappointed in the selection of ready to eat, I tried the beef and pepper Jack and couldn't taste the cheese at all. The filling and texture gets a bit redundant, and the gravy tasted like jarred store bought gravy. The kid that rang us up was friendly and helpful, and for what they are they're pretty hefty. I think $18 for two pasties is a bit steep. Just my opinion. If you like pasties I'm sure you'll like them here but maybe try going earlier than 1pm because the selection wasn't the greatest. read more

My husband and I went there for the first time today. It's not really a typical restaurant, they only have a couple tables, it's mostly take out (there's a sign on the door that they deliver now). They have a wall of coolers full of their menu items. I think it would be a great idea to buy some items to put it in the freezer for a good homecooked meal when you're too busy to cook! We each had their signature item (the pasties), soup, and goulash too. Hubby had a steak pastie, I had chicken. He loved his, I thought mine was ok, but I didn't love it. A pastie is sort of like a homemade pot pie without gravy inside it (gravy comes on the side). We split a cup of goulash, it was very good. Finally (yea I know I ate out of order, lol), I had the chicken pastini soup, you MUST TRY this! IT WAS AMAZING! Their soups are homemade and the chicken pastini reminded me of my mom's chicken & dumplings (with noodles instead of dumplings), it was so good I think it would flat out cure the common cold, lol! Hubby said the claim chowder was good too, but I didn't try it. The staff was extremely friendly, they told us the story of how they started the business andlet us know what was in everything we ordered. They were just good people. read more

My wife, Candi, and I traveled from Highland yesterday (4/27/2020) and picked up a few items. We took our purchases home and made (4) beef pasties and (1) buffalo (bison) pastry for dinner yesterday evening and they were fantastic! Additionally, we had their Sheppard's Pie for lunch and we're going to finished off the Pie along with a couple of Chicken and Broccoli Pasties for dinner...with apple pasties for dessert after both yesterday and today's dinners. These pasties taste like authentic ones from the Upper Peninsula. These pasties are fantastic. I myself prefer pasties over pot pies. There are several variants of pasties (including beef, chicken, vegetarian, bison, elk, and venison). This place got me to try elk and venison for the first time in my life. Oh how I love this place!!! I went to school in the UP and have been here several times for Pasties. Bought three beef pasties, two regular one extra meat with three gravies on 4/ 21/2022 .Unfortunately after cooking them according to directions, they were extremely dry and tasteless. A few small slivers of carrots , one had onions .The only resemblance of tasting like beef was the doctored up gravy witch I had to add beef broth for flavor. The extra meat was $ 8.99and smaller than the regular ones and could not tell the difference. I would not recommend this shop, to pricey for what you get. read more

Hands-down I've never found any pastie that is this delicious outside of the upper Peninsula. Not what I would expect from a restaurant in Southeast Michigan, but so delighted to find that pasties are now just right outside my front door. You walk in, and smiling face greeted me, and I saw that they have a wide variety of pasties for any palate, no matter the time of day. They have pasties with eggs, vegetarian, or any type of meat you can think of, even venison! Not only are the pasties delicious, with a flaky crust there engulfed the massive amounts of meat, potatoes, and vegetables on the inside. I couldn't have been more excited that this was the first place that I ate at after moving to Clarkston, but will definitely not be the last time I eat here. Since I live in West Bloomfield, and work twice a week in Clarkston, so once a month or so, I stop by and get 2 "bakers dozen" and was pleased to pick up stuffed cabbage rolls and a Shepherd's Pie, which I was able to make a few days later. Awesome pasties! Elk, venison, spinach& feta, buffalo, lamb, even breakfast pasties! (Also 10 or so more not mentioned here) Great friendly personal service. You can go eat a pasty for lunch and buy some for the freezer at home. Great selection of soups as well, no one around has as many soups and especially not with homemade goodness of these soups.
