Great location, great food and great prices. The service and friendliness of the more experienced and seasoned waitresses was outstanding; especially Amber. She was courteous and conscientious. However, I cannot say the same about the younger waitresses. My wife and I walked into the restaurant and stood there waiting to be seated. Amber and another waitress were busy attending to diners' needs. A young waitress stood there with her arms crossed and cell phone in hand. She was engaged in a conversation with a female friend. She looked directly at us and continued socializing with her friend. We took it upon ourselves to find a booth and be seated. We again waited for the young lady to take the initiative to do her job. I looked directly at her hoping that she would get the hint. Again, she looked directly at us and continued her socialization. I then walked over to where she was standing and retrieved the menus. She was directly in front of me, and no more than 2 feet away. She looked directly at me as I got the menus. She showed no concern and continued her socialization. I asked her if we could get some help. She looked away and continued with her socialization. It was as though we were invisible to her, or that she could not be bothered. Eventually, Amber came to our table, took our order and was prompt with serving us our food. Amber passed by frequently to check if we needed anything else. She provided great service and made the rest of our dining experience pleasurable. The young lady eventually decided to do some work. However, she continued to pretend we did not exist. Not once did she stop by to see if we needed anything. This was our first visit to the restaurant and it came at the recommendation of a friend. Had Amber not made the rest of the visit enjoyable I doubt we would recommend this establishment. I realize that there is a shortage of labor at this time. However, this does justify the aforementioned behavior of employees who do not take pride in what they do, or feel that customers are expendable. I just discovered this place a couple of days ago, and I'm already going back next weekend. I love when I stumble on some little place that turns out to be a total gem, and that definitely includes Uncle Pete's. I'm a huge breakfast fan, and theirs is is good as it gets. My fiancee had the country fried steak and eggs with potatoes. The steak was perfect - tender, crispy, and flavorful. The potatoes were crunchy on the outside, fluffy and light inside. Amazing. I had the corned beef hash and eggs over easy, with hash browns. It isn't easy to do either hash browns or corned beef hash to the point of being crispy but not burned, but damned if they didn't do it right on the money. Most places seem to have two options when it comes to eggs: runny or shoe leather. Uncle Pete's has a much better third option: cooked! Whoever they have in the kitchen clearly has a practiced hand. If their lunch options are as fantastic as their breakfast, then it's easy to see why they've been around for 17 years. Uncle Pete's will definitely become a regular haunt for me. read more

The hubs had to drop off his car at the Honda dealership for some maintenance/repairs, so naturally, we had to find a new place to try out nearby! The restaurant is tucked away in the middle of a plaza. Service is fast and friendly, and they have lotto tickets at the tables that you can fill out during the meal! I got the Country Scramble Skillet, the hubs got their Breakfast Burrito, and we got a side of biscuit and gravy. The servings are pretty hefty, and the food was good too - especially the country gravy! I can't say I'm a fan of driving to Garden Grove from Los Angeles for biscuits and gravy, but the next time the hubs needs to take the car in to the dealership for anything, I know where we'll be eating~! read more

Decided on the mash potatoes but of course there's a surcharge for the butter, sour cream and chives. Ok, so as time goes on the waiter comes around and seems a bit more personable. The salmon was a bit over cooked and on the dry side. They said it was fresh. Mashed potatoes were delicious with the extra sour cream and chives I ordered. I came here with my husband for the first time. Everyone that was working was very nice. The turkey burger is made in house and was the most delicious turkey burger I've ever had! My husband got a chicken sandwich and he said his meal was very good as well. The only issue I had (which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5) was how dirty the mustard container was. If they let something that dirty sit on the table, it makes me wonder if their kitchen is clean. read more

First time here and we had a great time! Service was awesome, food was made hot and delicious... only reason I gave it a 4 was because upon arriving there was a fly buzzing around and my country potatoes were not in my plate. Never to say the less because the hash browns were delicious, so it was a win win for us! My wife got the pancake and Eggs and I got the chorizo and eggs! Both dishes were amazing! I was craving a Bloody Mary, and surprisingly, they had one. Not the best, but they still had one. Got to give them credit for that. There was no wait, however it wasn't empty. There was a good amount of people, and it wasn't too loud, annoying, bothersome, etc. Nice place for a good breakfast to start the morning. The service was pretty good. I had no problems with it, they came right away to get our drinks, and brought them faster then most places do. Along with the drinks, the food also came out pretty quick; smelling good and tasting great. It seems like a lot of regulars come here and that they know the owner. If you like small made businesses like this, I would totally recommend it. A nice spot to pull you away from the typical Denny's/Ihop restaurants. Good food with prices that match it. I personally feel that this place provides a "home cooked meal" feel to their dining experience. They serve your typical american style plates, ideal for breakfast and lunch. The staff is very friendly and always accommodating. Its a small place in a little business strip off Beach Blvd. My only advice is dont plan on the same quick service on weekends. The place gets crowded (due to their good food and prices), and they seem to struggle with service due to the crowd. Still excellent food though! read more

The restaurant is very beautiful, with colorful walls, paintings, and decor. The waitresses were very nice and immediately took our orders. My friend got a juicy top sirloin with scrambled eggs, fries, and English muffins. All great. I got the Greek baked half chicken, rice pilaf, salad, and pita bread. They always say that first impressions can say a lot of things. For this place, they take the cake and provided great service with quality food. I can only speak for my experience with my girlfriend, and our waitress definitely deserved every cent of our tip. Efficient and quick service was provided, along with simple--quality and tasty---food. I ordered the beef gyro plate and my girlfriend ordered the soup and salad. We weren't disappointed and enjoyed every single last bite, being that we were hungry and the food was actually good. No doubt this is well above the average cafe. However, charging $4.25 for a coffee, inflation-post-covid or not, is beyond any other cafe I go to. The sevice sucked. The waitress who we asked to be seated was not very friendly. We never been here before and wanted to try. We didnt know if it was self seating or not. She sat us down in her area. All waitress were ignoring us. She finally took our drink order. Then the bartenders came to take our food order bc she said they all switched tables even though I only saw her behind bar only. My go-to place for corned beef hash and breakfast all day. The hash comes with two eggs, toast/English muffin and hash browns, which can be substituted with tomatoes, fries, peaches and cottage cheese. The hash browns have always been pretty bland every time I've been here, so I opt for fresh tomatoes. The French toast is pretty good as well. This has a very mom-and-pop diner feel. When we walked in we weren't greeted. The server was rude and i don't want to say it's because I'm Hispanic but it felt that way since she was so friendly to every older white person that was in there or walked in. I have a friend who loves this place so we eat here frequently and also order take-out. They have a wide selection of foods from Greek to Mexican to burgers and they also serve breakfast all day. I think they do breakfast better than their other menu items. The portions are large and the prices are fair. You won't leave hungry after eating breakfast here! I have no complaints about any of their breakfast items, they've all been great. The rest of the menu items seem to be hit or miss which is where I get frustrated. They use Angus beef which tastes amazing and, as long as they cook it the way you request, you'll love it. Unfortunately they frequently overcook it which is actually an issue with a lot of their items. They over cooked the fried chicken dinner, but the chicken tenders were great. They also over cooked the fried fish for the fish and chips dinner and also over cooked the fried fish for the fish sandwich. I like fish and tried the fish and chips once again and was shocked when I saw the thickest breading I've ever seen on fish. It looked like the breading used on corn dogs, it was seriously that thick. I ended up peeling it off so I could get at the fish hidden inside. The takeaway from this is to beware of fried chicken or fried fish, you'll probably be disappointed. The side salads are pretty fresh, there are a couple of their soups that I really like, and their chili is awesome! But what's up with succotash being the side veggie so often?? Do people really like and want this stuff?? The chefs should be chefs and not just open a can of nasty succotash. My friend has gone here longer than I have and he said prices have gone up and dinner portions have gotten smaller since the new owners took over a year or so ago. If they didn't have such a great breakfast, I'd probably only give them 3 stars, but the breakfast redeems them and my friend continues to go here a lot so I gave them 4 stars. read more

Having had to serve recently I familiarized myself once again with Uncle Pete's a few days before showing up at the Courthouse Jury Room on Monday. My Boyfriend & I went in for lunch. It's a cozy spot serving comfort food. I had the Popeye Omelette (featuring Spinach, Tomatoes, Feta Cheese & Bacon) & my BF had the Burger Patty, Eggs & Potatoes. It tasted good (bordering on so-so) & we finished it all w/o the need for a box to take home any leftovers. Portions aren't skimpy but aren't overwhelming either. That's OK but prices are in that typical over $10 & up range. They serve a variety of home-style favs like sandwiches, burgers & dinner meals that feature steak & chicken. They have Daily chalkboard offerings & Breakfast served all day. I gave it a 4th star due to its longevity & convenient location. Service was good. Oh, by the way...I had Cottage Cheese instead of potatoes. Not as much fun but at least this way I could declare myself "Not Guilty!" read more
