First time here. Pleasantly surprised as it's my favorite type of restaurant, mom and pop with great home made dishes and a big variety. I had huevos rancheros, a unique recipe they served on flour OR corn tortillas. Wife had smash burger & fries for only $11.00 . She loved it and you couldn't beat the price. Welcome to Day 10 of OC Food Journals, where I try a new place every day so you don't have to. I've been wanting to try more breakfast burritos around Orange County, so I decided to finally give Uncle Pete's a shot. I remember this place being around since I was in high school, so clearly they've been doing something right to stick around for this long. That being said, I'm only reviewing the breakfast burrito here, not any of their other food. And honestly, it was kind of just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. The burrito was pretty simple, just eggs, cheese, and bacon. Looking at it, it honestly reminded me of something I could make at home. The salsa and pico de gallo didn't really do much for me either. They were fine, but nothing that made the burrito stand out or added a whole lot of extra flavor. I will say, the staff and the people eating there were extremely friendly, which definitely made the experience more enjoyable. I can see why a local spot like this has been around for so long, especially when you have that kind of welcoming atmosphere and a loyal customer base. But if I'm specifically in the mood for a breakfast burrito, based on this experience, I'd probably go somewhere else. There are just too many breakfast burritos around OC that I enjoy more. Again, this review is only about the breakfast burrito, so I'm definitely not saying the rest of their menu isn't worth trying. I may have just picked the wrong thing. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing that made me want to come back specifically for the breakfast burrito. The friendly people were probably my favorite part of the experience. read more

Shout out to Jodi... Was in the mood for some pancakes and sausage, and we came to the right place. Decently busy for a Sunday morning, and we chose to sit outside, since the inside had the AC going. We ordered the pancakes combo with sausage, an over medium egg, plus extra sausage and a side of fruit. Poor Jodi was dealing with an understaffed day, so it took a good 30 minutes to get our food, which is the reason for the 4 stars, because once the food came.... Sausage was perfect. Solid flavor and perfectly grilled up. The pancakes were also great, with a nice outside texture but chewy center. Ample butter and syrup. Mixed fruit was ok, since they were heavy on the cantaloupe vs other fruit. Will be back. read more

If I only I lived closer to here & this would my go-to breakfast spot. The food tasted fresh. The ribeye butchered in house and eggs from a specific farm. Really nice service even if it does get really busy so make sure you come earlier in the morning. Lots of space inside and outside seating as well. Ribeye Steak and eggs were so delicious. The steak was hella tender and held so much flavor. Pancakes had crispy edges but super soft in the middle. Plenty of parking in the shopping center it's in. Service 4.5/5 Food 5/5 read more

I'm trying to write an update to our previous experience. I think the special thing about this place is the small mom/pop feel on this place. I found out Amber, who is one of our favorite servers has been here for 30+ years. It's no wonder why this place is always buzzing with return customers. I was there for the first time with my book club ! This restaurant has been a local staple for years but I had never tried it! It is homey , and much roomier than it looks ! The staff (two servers and two cooks ) were taking care of the entire restaurant! Food came out in a timely fashion and they had a good system in place for a large party each with a separate check !! Stopped in for my first time today for breakfast, and I would say the best part of the meal was the service, the food wasn't bad by any means, but it was far from memorable. It's located in a small shopping center with plenty of free parking right out front. They have indoor and outdoor seating options and as mentioned our server was extremely polite and attentive, and she really went above and beyond. All of our items came out pretty fast as well. Inside is fairly large, larger than it looks from the outside, so it can host many different sized groups. I tried to order the Cinnamon Roll because it is on the menu, but they did not have that available so I went with the Bread Pudding to start and felt it was OK, it wasn't like a traditional, southern bread pudding, it was more of a moist cake kind of style. It wasn't bad, but I would not recommend it. For my entrée, I chose the Chorizo Skillet and thought it was pretty nice, but it really lacked on the chorizo part. They could've added a lot more meat and less potato. Overall, it would be a nice option if you are in the area but it isn't my fav of the Westminster breakfast options. read more

I must have driven by this establishment 100 times and never stopped in until today. We had lunch during a break from the courthouse next door, and it was busy. Food was good - I had the chili, which was flavorful, and a smashburger. My lunch partner got the breakfast burrito, which she described as "flavorless", and "not great". She mentioned the hashbrowns in particular were overcooked, and were flavorless. I have to deduct a star due to the very poor service here. Even after it was no longer busy, and my lunch partner had to get back to her jury trial, I waited and tried to pay, but the staff here were busy with other things - just like they were when I entered and tried to get a seat. read more

Very good experience. Came semi close to closing and the atmosphere was relaxing on a Saturday evening. The cage gave me a very anime cafe feel. I was here with my husband and we both really l iked it! We shared chili cheese fries and we each got meals. Will post pictures. Overall great spot to check out if in the area. This place was nearly full by the time I ended by meal. Parking - Easy Ordered Country fried steak and eggs 4/5 Eggs were cooked perfect to a scramble. Toast was buttered perfectly. Gravy very flavorful and not your typical one that most places flock to. Had good texture. Home potatoes were mid. Steak was okay size, but the batter could use some work. Definitely needs more coating to it. Service - staff were attentive and genuine. Output time - Less than five minute upon ordering. Apparently no clam chowder on Sundays. read more

Unfortunately, over the last handful of years they have managed to price themselves out of my whole work crew's budget. $20 (not including tip) for your average diner sandwich/burger/salad isn't going to cut it for that type of food and especially in that area. read more

Came in solo to start the morning the right way with a hearty breakfast. This place did not disappoint. Was greeted very professionally by the server . It was just her when I first came in but she handled everything perfectly with a smile. Ordered the steak and eggs. Came in an oversized plate. The eggs were great quality let me say, deep red colored yolk. I appreciate that they used quality ingredients and that makes a difference for me. The steak was cooked as ordered and for the price and being a breakfast steak I really couldn't complain. Of course it's not Ruth Chris or anything but you're not paying $100 either. Way better than the typical super thin and extra chewy steaks like you find at most diners. And they gave you a real knife to use. Place was clean and atmosphere was cozy. Looks like a place that I would make one of my local haunts if I was local. I will return whenever I'm nearby again. read more

Find a different diner... The french toast tasted like plain bread and was dry as hell. The scrambled eggs were even drier. The orange juice was bitter and was poor in taste. They have to find better oranges. The huevos rancheros was okay, at best. Nothing to write home about, needed more flavor. The server was nice enough I suppose, albeit a bit clumsy spilling water all over the table. The ambiance was fine. Overall really disappointed with this breakfast. Even a subpar meal I can eat when I'm really hungry. I was starving and couldn't help but sit and stare at this bland food before getting out of there with plans to write this review and never return. Having lived in the area for many years, have visited most of the local spots, all around , for breakfast. Petes, by FAR, is the most expensive. Bacon and eggs, plus a coffee, came out to over $23. Yes, we get it, everything has gone up, higher pricing etc. But this is absurd. Food was ok, I mean, its breakfast, difficult to mess up Eggs & Bacon. My normal go-to spot, Fantastic Cafe, couple miles away, $13+ for the same meal. $10 less, hows that even possible, charging that much. Service was average, not quick , not slow, which is fine. As soon as we walked in, we were ignored. Only one lady made eye contact, but she decided to go over and assist the two men (who were Caucasian and arrived minutes after we did) who sat next to us. Then we waited for over 15 minutes, I honestly was about to tell my sister and brother if they wanted to leave because the three ladies clearly ignored us. Finally after waiting one of the servers looked at the rest of the ladies and said I guess as she walked over to our table. She took our orders, we ate our food and I'm not sure if the food wasn't cooked well or something but the food didn't stay down a few minutes after we left. This experience was terrible and very unwelcoming. In the past, my sister-in-law had positive experiences with the male staff who would always be our server the times we were there and now that I think about it maybe it was because he was a POC just like us and the ladies were not and didn't want to serve us. Their omelets were good along with their hash browns and that was another reason my sister-in-law and I would go to this spot, along with the great customer service of the man who was there the times we went to uncle Pete's. Honestly, it's sad to see such treatment based on how we look. I have not been to this place since this horrific experience and don't plan to go back. I hope that they treat POC with the same respect they treat the rest of the people who aren't POC. It's ok , mediocre, the chicken fried steak is more breading than steak, steak is about the thickness of a slice of balonie . Eggs are great, hash browns were tasty, Bloody Mary needed a little more vodka and the mix tasted like straight tomato juice, needs some worstishire , horseradish, lime, salt pepper and olive juice. Wanted to try the biscuits and gravy but not on menu. All and all good place for family and kids. Came around 2:30pm on a Saturday. It's located in a plaza so there's plenty of parking. There's indoor and outdoor seating and they show the games on their tvs. My boyfriend was excited to see that they were playing the nfl game. My boyfriend ordered the Uncle Pete's Angus Burger with sweet potato fries and we were pleasantly surprised. The bacon was delicious and the entire burger itself was yummy! I already ate lunch since it was an impromptu lunch date but we will definitely be back for a future breakfast or lunch date! Our server was super quick and attentive! I love this place. A little diner tucked away from the Beach Blvd. The food is tasty and in large portions. I seem to always take food home with me. Service is fantastic.
