I usually love going to Uncle tea. Love their drinks and I recently tried their cocosnow and its soooo good! However, i had two incidents I wanted to share: First, it happened when I ordered drinks around 8pm. The coco snow crush tasted bland and like water downed versions of what I drank before, i almost did not want to go back. After a few weeks... I go back again, this time I ordered coco snow crush, around 8pm) but it tasted better :)) However, one drink contained significantly less as noted. Idk if they forgot the foam or if they mixed it and it did not have enough liquid but this drink did not look like it was worth the $$. I stopped by Uncle Tea for the first time around 10 PM on a Saturday night. It was super deserted at that time (in store and in that whole little plaza) but it was pretty late. I've had this place bookmarked for a while but I'm just never in this area so it was cool to finally try it out. I saw all these cool flavors and I went a little crazy for what I chose since I'm usually getting something basic like mango peach green tea or honey green milk tea. I decided on Crème Brûlée Oreo Matcha because I just liked all those words in one title and that's totally outside of my comfort zone haha. The flavor was honestly a little confusing in my mouth because I had never put all 3 of them together, but it's like I could taste each individual flavor every now and then with every sip. It wasn't a bad thing, but like I said, it was a drink I wouldn't usually get. The overall flavor after getting through half of it and mixing it all together just started to blend and taste sweet and cold in my mouth and I could no longer distinguish between the 3 flavors. The consistency was good and icy and I especially love being able to crunch on the slushiness. I substituted the regular boba that it comes with for crystal boba. As a regular add-on, it would've been an additional 55¢ which is a super decent add-on price esp for crystal boba. My bf ordered a Vietnamese ice coffee and thought the flavor was pretty good. I've heard so much about this place and always wanted to go try it myself! It was conveniently located right in a plaza off of Nogales and Amar. Parking: There are plenty of parking in this plaza but make sure you try to avoid going during peak hours. Ambiance: let's start off with saying as you step into the shop, you are immediately drawn to the decor which gives out a fresh and modern vibe. I would say this place is great to study at because of the free WIFI but there are very limited tables. Drinks: I decided to order the strawberry matcha milk tea because it seemed to be one of the more popular drinks and I was not disappointed. Not only does it look beautifully presented, it taste great as well. I'm don't have too much of a sweet tooth so I ended up getting it 50% sugar and it seemed to be just right. The flavors were mild and not too overwhelming. One of the complaints I have is the fact that it took a while to get our drinks. There were only 2 parties in front of us but it ended up taking about 15-20 mins to get our order. This is specifically a review of my experience with this place at the OC 626 Night Market. SCAM alert. First, this place is price gouging. A medium milk tea (one size only available at the night market) was $8. And they had grilled squid skewers. For 3 skewers with about 1 oz of meat on each, was $12. Such tiny portion for $12! Then handed my credit card and was charged over $23+. 12 + 8 + OC tax should be around $21. Not sure how it came out to more than $23. Then the drink itself was basically milk. I got the Ube 'messy' milk tea. It had tiny amount of Ube and could barely taste it. The drink was literally white because it's just milk. I even asked the owner and she confirmed it's basically just milk. I will give credit to the owner who asked if I wanted another scoop of Ube. It was horrible knowing I paid $8+ for ice and milk. It is a small area and there are a few tables (and cute decor) inside. They have a variety of dishes here but I elected for the thai green tea because I had seen a few reviews mentioning it. I added a tiramisu foam on top because I wanted to try it out. (And of course, getting it with half sugar). It wasn't all too strong and I'm not usually a fan of thai tea due to it being very sweet but their thai green tea was actually very light and felt light but still had a good taste. It was like drinking a toned down version of thai tea (which is what I was expecting). Having the tiramisu foam on top made it a bit heavier but actually meshed well with the drink. (The tiramisu foam was a bit watered down, so not as strong as you would expect from Tan-cha). Their tea prices are a bit more than usual (about $5.5). They have a Yelp check in deal but at this time they change it (it was 10% off a black/green tea at the time I went in late 6/2018). read more

I found this place through my Yelp app and glad to have tried it! I think it is cool spot to get some iced beverage during the hot weather. What I like about Uncle Tea is that you can have an option how much ice or sugar you want for your drink. I personally like drinks that are lightly sweetened and do not mind if it has a lot of ice. I got the coffee milk tea and thought it was good. It is also a plus that it was in a cute container. The place is clean and customer service is great as well. Was in the neighborhood after eating lunch with a friend, so I decided to stop by Uncle Tea after reading the positive reviews and being captivated by the plastic cups. The boba shop is located in a pretty cramped plaza on Amar and Nogales, and since the speed limit is pretty fast, be prepared for the turn. Luckily the storefront wasn't too busy when I stopped by, so I was able to browse leisurely through the menu before deciding on the drink that I wanted. Storefront is not too big, with several high chairs and tables along the wall and some larger tables near the front of the teahouse. They do have free Wi-Fi which is nice if you want to study or chat with a friend. Love the minimalistic theme with the pop of yellow color. I had read that their Yelp promotion stated that drinks were buy one get one 50% off, so I came prepared for that promotion; however, that particular day's special was buy any drink and get a free Thai green tea (which was the drink I was actually hoping to try). The worker helping me was super patient as she discarded my first order and took my second (complicated) order. I like that they have a good variety of drinks, especially signature drinks that makes Uncle Tea stand out among other teahouses. They have the regular teas, coffees, frappes, "fruithies", milk teas, and creamas, but their signature drinks are quite popular as well. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try their "Golden Orange" or "Pink Lady" (both of which are $4.95). I ended up getting a boba milk tea and added a creama on top. Drink came out to be around $6, which is quite pricey. It's served in a tall, reusable plastic cup with the storefront's name and logo of an uncle branded on. The drink was pretty good! Like I've said before, my dad always judges a teahouse based on the most standard drink - the boba milk tea. He liked the milk tea and thought there was a strong tea flavor with just enough milk to complement the taste. The boba was also pretty chewy, which I liked. The creama on top was not amazing or too memorable, but was sweet enough when opening the cap and drinking it with the tea. They also gave a pretty thick amount of the creama, which I thought was nice. I'd order this again. I took advantage of their buy one drink get a free Thai green tea. I liked that it wasn't a matcha tea (since I'm not a fan of matcha) and that the colors were super pretty once it was made in the cup. I'm honestly not sure what kind of drink this is, but it was more muted than a regular Thai tea. It tasted like a light matcha-y Thai milk tea that wasn't too heavy. It was super refreshing and I actually really enjoyed it. Each topping is $0.50 and each additional topping is $0.50 if you want more than one topping. Free Wi-Fi with the password on the gray brick wall facing the tall seats and tables. I noticed they do have a drink called Hawaii which has POG in it. Minimum charge on debit/credit card is $10 or you will get an additional $0.50 charge for any amount less than $10. I could not decide between the mango passion fruit fruthie or the peach passion fruit fruthie. I wanted it half sweet with grass jelly. The mango passion fruit has a bit of tartness to it. This place is great to hangout and/or study but circling for parking is the hard part. Seems like this parking lot doesn't have enough spaces so people double park. I finally went to try this place out after saying I'm going to countless times. My boyfriend literally lives behind this plaza so I don't even know what my excuse is. My brother and I were on the way to my grandmas house and we were pretty thirsty so he brought up this place - he recently went with his friends and said it's pretty decent so we stopped by. No one was there so it was a rather quick experience. Upon walking into the cute little shop, two girls were at the front counter. They were very nice. They helped explain a few drinks to me & I decided to get the Golden Orange and my brother wanted a Strawberry Banana Fruithie buuuut they were out of bananas so he ended up getting the peach passion fruit fruithie.
