Found this cute Japanese Cheesecake shop while walking all through Del Amo Mall today. Oh my gosh!!! I had the original JAPANESE-style cheesecake and it was absolutely delicious! Very airy, light and melts in your mouth. Not at all like the heavier American cheesecakes. You really have to try it once and you'll be hooked! Service was gracious. Shop right off the mall walks very clean.

Located inside Del Amo mall on second floor. Was craving a small bite sized dessert. Saw this place on Yelp and came. Got an OG cheesecake tart, was whatever....$4.50. Wasn't a huge fan:( it tasted real generic

This spot is located inside the DEL AMO FASHION CENTER on the 2nd floor near Din Tai Fung. I wanted to try their cheesecake but they only sell them as a whole cake. So i tried something else which was their ube cheese tart and this was delightful and creamy the ube was not overpowering either nice balance i actually enjoyed this one its a perfect size to snack on while you walk around. Next time i have a function I'll give their cheesecake a whirl I recommend

Such a fun and unique dessert experience! This Japanese dessert spot really stands out with its beautiful presentation and delicate flavors. Everything feels thoughtfully made, from the light and fluffy pastries to the perfectly balanced sweetness that Japanese desserts are known for. The textures are incredible--soft, creamy, and melt-in-your-mouth. Whether it's mochi, matcha treats, or fluffy cakes, nothing feels overly heavy or sugary, which makes it easy to try a few different things. The shop itself has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the desserts almost look too pretty to eat. If you're looking for something a little different from the typical dessert shop, this is definitely a place worth visiting.

I live very far from Uncle Tetsu locations in SoCal so when I had the chance to be at Del Amo mall I made sure to buy it. My kids really loved the cookies and cream cheesecake. We also tried the seasonal mango basque cheesecake, it was very flavorful, you can def taste the mango flavor. The cheesecakes are a bit pricey but it's worth the splurge once in awhile!

This is the second time trying Uncle Tetsu. First time we had it was in Arcadia at the Santa Anita Mall. We thought it was just ok then and feel the same way today. It just isn't great to us. Yes it was light and fluffy, but it's just ok. We ordered the Burnt Basque Cheesecake and it was unimpressive especially for the $25 price tag. It's going to be very hard to give it a try again.

The fluffy cheesecakes here are a classic, but I wanted to try something new and opted for the Basque Cheesecake. We wanted to try the Cookies and Cream one, but I think they ran out since we came closer to closing. I didn't realize it had a lemon taste to it, honestly not my favorite out of all of the options. I prefer their normal fluffy cheesecakes! ig: @cravingswithcat

Located on the 2nd level inside the Del Amo mall. They have some good Japanese fluffy cheesecakes. I've had the regular one many times. I did get a strawberry one today for a dinner party with Friends tonight. They do have a few different flavors and they were all available as well. The service was fast since it was already made and available. Overall this place has good Japanese cheesecakes.

I loooove japanese style cheesecake. Its not everybody's cup of tea as people expect cheesecake to be creamy and rich. Japanese style "fluffy" cheesecake is more subtle airy, and I am here for it. Ive had their strawberry as well. Their little tarts are yummy, had the Matcha last time I was there. Its located inside Del Amo almost next to Din Tai.

I was at the mall with my family and spotted Uncle Tetsu. Since it was after lunch and I wanted something sweet, I decided to pick up a few things for myself and my family. After looking through the offerings, I decided on the basque cheesecake (my brother had been wanting to try this), the pandan cheesecake and some ube cookies. Service was quick and friendly and I got my order quickly. When we got home, I opened up the two cheesecake and decided to have a small piece of each. The basque cheesecake was dense, but also had a very soft center - so much so that I was afraid it wasn't fully cooked. After carefully inspecting it and researching online, I guess it was supposed to be that way. I deemed it safe to eat and continued with my treat. Overall, the basque cheesecake wasn't what I was expecting. Its flavors were fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again. The pandan cheesecake was light and fluffy with a good hint of pandan. My favorites were the ube cookies - I liked them a lot more than I expected to. They were soft and full of melt in your mouth ube. I will definitely get more of these the next time I'm in the area.

Was craving uncle tetsu and really enjoyed the cheesecake tart but decided to try all of them and ended up grabbing an original cheesecake and Ube cheesecake. Is it bad that I can eat an entire cheesecake and one sitting and not feel bad about it??? The original and strawberry tart was my favorite , my least favorite was actually the matcha (very green tea like) but still good! Just prefer the creamy decadent flavor over a bitter tea flavor? The seasonal one was pretty good too, but the original and strawberry definitely stand out. ube cheesecake was good! Definitely will get it again but I prefer original. I literally finished two cheesecakes in one week and the tarts in one sitting haha Service was prompt and super nice!

A spot in Del Amo mall selling japanese cheesecakes on the 2nd floor by Din Tai Fung. They have a wide variety of cheesecake flavors such as original, ube, pandan coconut, and smores as a seasonal flavor. They also have tarts and madeleines. I tried their ube which had a nice mild ube flavor. For first timers, I suggest just getting the the original flavor.

We split the cake into 4, but you can eat the whole thing--we aren't judging. :-)

How best to describe it...if you've had a Filipino Mamon, it has that texture, but creamier or if you're familiar with a sponge cake, it is along those lines, but again, creamier. Specifically, Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake is spongy yet creamy & flavorful. I found myself savoring the texture and the mild taste...like the Asian stamp of approval for any dessert, "not too sweet". It's pretty much a "to go" location with no specific seating for their location so if you're interested in eating it right away, you'll just have to find a table or bench at the Mall, which is easy enough depending on how crowded the timing is. If this type of dessert sounds appealing, I recommend this spot...if I find myself craving it, I'll be seeking it here.

Ask the Community - Uncle Tetsu

Is this location open on Christmas Eve?

I called the store and they are open on Christmas Eve. The Del Amo mall is open 7am to 6pm on Christmas Eve. Uncle Tetsu phone number is 323-275-9190. I don't know if you need to pre-order due to the holidays but I would call before hand.

I've been calling for a few days but only get an automated 'we can't answer the phone' deal when they are open. Do they have the correct phone number listed? It says to call ahead but if they don't answer I'm not sure how that is possible.

Hi Elle, our phone number is 323-275-9190 If you have any further questions, feel free to DM us on…

Are they open now? Tried calling and only go machine and then got hung up on

They are open but for curbside pickup only. You have to order online and then call them to bring it to the curbside pickup zones (tell them your stall #)…

How long does the cake last?

They recommend finish the cake within 1 day, and should last about 3 days in the fridge!

Is it 9.80 for a slice or for a whole cheesecake?

They raised their prices. It is now $10.80 less tax and the burnt basque is $19.80 and the 4 cheese tarts are $14.00

How much does it cost for cheesecake?

    It costs $9.80.

Do they have the coffee flavor cheesecake, too?

Yes. They have it starting this week. Just got one today.

When is this store going to open? Del Amo's website says they're already open for business, but when I swing by the store, it's still boarded up.

Was at Del Amo earlier today and they're open!

When are they going to open? I thought they're going to open on November 29th?

    They just opened today

The waitress taking my order had no personality and didn't check in on me after my food was brought over. I decided to bring my family for dinner, shortly after their official grand opening. I called in to ask if they had a table for four and I was assured they did have one available and would hold it for us over the next 20 minutes. We arrived within 13 minutes and were told that they didn't have anymore tables available and when I mentioned I'd called and one was promised to be held, I could see the "oh crap!" Look on the hostess' face. I was told once again that they didn't have a table available for us but we could sit outside in the cold, with no heater. Since I'd hyped the food up so much, my wife was eager to try it, so she asked that we sit outside and dine there; so I obliged. Service was once again mediocre. The food was tasting great when suddenly my wife spat something out; upon further examination it was literal broken glass! Seriously, broken glass! I immediately took the plate to the manager and he was apologetic and offered to "comp everything" or remake the dish. My wife was still hungry so she opted to have it remade. For me, the experience was ruined. I couldn't finish my meal, while my wife ate most of her remade meal. Once we got the check, my wife's meal was removed. There is a little history buried inside Noon Korean Bingsoo House. Before Noon, this same…read morestorefront was Oncle's Cafe, a Korean inspired dessert and coffee shop that opened here in 2022. Somewhere along the way Oncle became Noon, the cakes and coffee gave more ground to bingsoo and the place changed enough that I still occasionally catch myself comparing what is there now with what I remember being there before. That may be part of why I have kept coming back. I remember Oncle being one of those easy little places where the service felt unusually attentive. Young guys behind the counter who seemed genuinely engaged, checking on things, keeping the room moving, making the whole experience feel cared for. Noon still occupies the same address and the bones of a good dessert shop are obviously still there, but the experience today feels considerably more transactional. The bingsoo itself is not bad. The machine is doing what it is supposed to do. The ice has that fine, soft, almost snow like texture that separates good Korean bingsoo from somebody simply attacking a block of ice with machinery. The problem, for me, is everything they put on top of it. I have tried enough of the menu at this point that I don't think this is a matter of choosing the wrong flavor. Strawberry, mango, the more elaborate combinations they consistently lean too sweet. Syrups, sauces, creams, fruit. Eventually all that sugar begins flattening the very thing that makes bingsoo so good. The delicacy of the ice itself. Instead of tasting individual ingredients, you start tasting sweetness in several different costumes. That is where Noon loses me compared with the better versions of this dessert. A great bingsoo lets you keep eating because nothing overwhelms anything else. Here, a few spoonfuls in, I'm usually wishing someone had simply stopped adding things. Then there is the experience of going. Parking in this plaza at the wrong hour can turn dessert into a minor logistical exercise. The lot is tight, dinner traffic makes it worse and the alternative is hunting around outside. Once you make it in, seating operates with that awkward first come first served ambiguity where someone who ordered after you can apparently have a table secured while you stand there holding dessert and waiting for another group to leave. The room itself often feels oddly unattended. Tables linger before being cleared. Surfaces can feel sticky. Nobody seems particularly responsible for making the dining room feel reset between customers. When it gets crowded, all of that compounds. People hovering for seats, groups talking over one another, trays sitting around, everyone negotiating the room themselves. None of this makes Noon terrible. That is probably the important distinction. The actual shaved ice is good. Some of the combinations are enjoyable. There are plenty of people who will probably prefer the sweeter style more than I do. And clearly the place has found an audience. Noon's current social presence identifies it as a Gardena bingsoo shop at this same Western Avenue location. I just find myself wondering why I keep making the effort. Maybe some of it is nostalgia for Oncle. Maybe I keep hoping the next visit will recover whatever made the old place feel more personal. But when getting dessert requires fighting for parking, negotiating a table, sitting in a room that feels half managed and then eating bingsoo that is considerably sweeter than I want it to be, there are easier ways to spend an evening.

I think, great since my elderly Dad is diabetic and shouldn't have a lot of ice cream, so I went with that but in a waffle cone, she said that would be $3.50. I said that's fine, I will have one in flavor A and the other one in flavor B, total came to $7.35 And I asked her to put the ice cream cone in a cup, so it would be easier for him to eat in the car as it was extremely hot that day, and I don't want it to drip all over the car. When she gave me the ice cream, it was both flavor in one cone. I told her I wanted 2 separate cone instead of all in one. And then she said it would be another $7, I was in a hurry, so didn't really put too much thoughts into it, and just charge it. So now I look at my charges, so it turns out the same serving, one is at $7.35 and the other is $7. When I get the ice cream, I asked her, so there nothing that is smaller than this. She said there is, but not in a waffle cone, it will be extra with a waffle cone. So I asked $2.50 in a regular cone and additional $3.50 for the waffle cone? She said yes!! I am still confused as to whether they have a smaller serving than small and how much it is. I check on the pricing people posted here and don't see a $2.50/$3.50 smaller size showing. It remains a mystery to me, and I really wanted to know as it will be a hot summer, both my elderly parents, who are diabetic, would probably asked for ice cream, and I really don't want them to have a small each on their own, since it is still a decent size and they don't like the same flavor, so they can't really share a small one.

It has become one of those places you stop debating because you already know what you're going to get. In the South Bay, when somebody wants bingsu, this is still one of the first places that comes to mind. And the frustrating thing is that the dessert is genuinely very good. The snow is properly fine and soft, closer to fresh powder than shaved ice and the flavors are restrained enough that you can bring almost anyone here without worrying that they're going to be assaulted by sugar. The red bean works. The mochi balls are excellent and worth adding, even if you'll feel mildly extorted every time you pay for extras. I've worked through most of the menu over the years and rarely had anything fundamentally bad. The taiyaki deserves some credit too. The cheese version in particular is ridiculously satisfying and the red bean is dependable. Coffee is forgettable, but nobody should be driving here because they heard whispers about the espresso program. The problem is everything surrounding the food. Okrumong has always been expensive and once you start adding mochi or toppings, a simple dessert can become an oddly serious financial decision. I can forgive expensive when the product earns it, and much of the time the bingsu does. What becomes harder to forgive is paying premium prices while feeling as though your presence is something the people behind the counter have to tolerate. What makes it stranger is that this doesn't feel like some anonymous chain staffed by people who happened to clock in that afternoon. You get the sense that the people running the place are personally connected to it, which should make the hospitality feel warmer. Somehow, it often has the opposite effect. There is a reluctant energy behind the counter, as though serving customers is the interruption rather than the reason the doors are open. After enough visits, you stop writing it off as somebody simply having a bad day. That matters more than people think. Hospitality isn't performing happiness or pretending every customer is your long lost cousin. It is simply making people feel that you are glad they chose to spend their time and money with you. A hello. A little patience. Some warmth. Okrumong has a product people clearly still want, yet too often the experience around it feels like the business is operating on whatever affection people have left from its better years. And you can feel those years receding. There was a time when places like this felt like destinations. Lines, energy, people making a special trip for Korean desserts that were harder to find elsewhere. Now there are more choices, better designed cafes, more interesting dessert shops and operators who understand that good food alone doesn't buy permanent loyalty. I still come back because, annoyingly, the bingsu is good enough to keep pulling me back. That may be the most honest compliment and criticism I can give them. I'd love to see this place feel cared for again, because the actual product deserves better than the experience surrounding it.

We decided to visit Riviera village after a relaxing morning stroll through Torrance Beach. Since…read moreit was almost noon, we searched on Yelp and decided to have some crepes for lunch. The restaurant has inside seating for 40 guests and outside for 30. We arrived between breakfast and lunchtime and were able to get the last outside table. The attentive staff got us seated right away, and after browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items (arrived in 15 minutes) : Marine: The buckwheat outer layer was soft, not soggy, and with nice resistance. The light creamy tomato-based dressing with sliced mushrooms was pleasantly flavorful. Both shrimp and scallops were of good size, fresh and juicy. Fromage: Like Marine Crepe, the buckwheat out layer was soft. The mild brie cheese provided pleasant creaminess to the filling. Seasoned bacon, scrambled egg, onion, and mushroom added nice savoriness to the dish. The portions were sensible and the prices were reasonable. Very nice culinary experience.

Been coming here a few times a month over the past 3 years, always loved it…read more But recently it really became subpar... First the food size is becoming ridiculous (au gratin potatoes so small) The service is where I'm shocked, the waiting staff turnover is crazy. I was there last Sunday evening (05/24) and one of the waiter with a French accent looks like he just started that day, he was clueless about the menu, didn't know what was the soup of the day, and very inattentive to our table (water refill, empty plates...) like he just wanted our tips ! Also I'm sorry about that one but he had a foul smell like he just finished working out... the table next to us was saying the same thing. I came back on Friday (05/29)early afternoon and seen the same waiter still no refill and same foul smell Im going to try their other locations in PV or Hermosa and see if I'm lucky and they're like that location used to be
