I went in late on a Friday night to find about 20 people waiting ahead of me for seats in uncle zhou. Luckily it took only about 20 minutes to get a table. Definitely a typical looking Chinese food menu, with noodles, dumplings, various styles of fish, beef and chicken, with no extra explanation (not complaining, to be clear). We asked for our waiters recommendation, which was the oil hand drawn noodles. We got those, along with some pork and chive dumplings, and a bowl of the beef hand drawn noodles. The beef noodles were the first item out, which my girlfriend and I both jumped on immediately. The noodles are SUPER bouncy and chewy, very tasty. I am not sure what kind of mushroom they had added (to my uneducated eyes, they looked like a very dark colored wood ear), but they were an interesting touch that I was glad I had the opportunity to try. And if anyone knows what kind they are, please let me know. The broth left something to be desired, as it did not have much flavor. I added chili oil liberally, to find out that not all chili oils are created equal and i nuked the food. Still edible and good but be careful. The oil hand drawn noodles were amazing. So rich and buttery, and again the noodles were so bouncy and had a great bite to them. The sauce was delicious. Finally the dumplings came out, which were delicious too. The interior was spectacularly salty and savory. If I were to come again I'd swap the beef noodles and dumplings for something else to explore the menu a bit more. The hand pulled noodles tasted like noodles from any other restaurant so it seemed overpriced for smaller portions, especially for feeding a whole family. If you are a noodle lover, you have got to eat here for the dial oil hand drawn noodles! They are loooooooong, have a great bite to them, and thick! I've never ever in my life had noodles like this! The food here is indeed tasty. I really like the lunch special hongshao pork because it reminds me of the flavor of roast pork in China. The mapo tofu is also really good. Normally it would come with some type of ground meat, but the mapo tofu here seems to be completely vegetarian. The minor downside would probably be the white rice served with the entrees. It's unbelievably dry, and seems to possibly be either old rice under a heat lamp, or leftovers from prior days. The noodles here are also really good, but I would not recommend ordering them to-go. They tend to clump together into one giant dough blob in the to-go box, regardless of if you order the noodles with soup, or the hand-drawn oil noodles. We started with cold roast beef, spicy wonton in chili oil, cold pickled cucumber, and green onion pancake for the appetizer round. All of the apps were amazing!! I think it was decent food, but I'm not sure I'll be back. We got the Dial Oil hand drawn noodles...the noodles were a bit too thick to enjoy easily & sauce a bit too sour and one-dimensional. Went here BASED on reviews and I couldn't be more disappointed. I'm not sure if the chef recently changed or what happened but the food wasn't good. The fast food Chinese dish we ordered - General Tso's chicken was the best item and thats not hard to find. I didn't come for the fast food. They even messed up fried rice, it was clumpy and white with almost no seasoning/egg/veggies. We took the Mapo Tofu and it was EXTREMELY SALTY (this comes from an average Asian who eats a little above average salt content). The shrimp Chef's special and the steamed veggies with shrimp had the EXACT SAME tasteless boiled veggies and shrimp with maybe a slightly different sauce which were both AGAIN EXTREMELY SALTY. Probably some of the best Chinese food I've had in the Dallas area. It certainly lived up to the hype for me. The dragon eggplant was a sight to behold. A longs and large eggplant cut up like a spiral with an addicting sweet and spicy sauce. A must try even as I hesitant at first. The Dial Oil Hand Drawn Wide Noodle was really good too. I loved the bouncy noodle texture. The fish we got was solid as well. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the spicy crispy chicken and there were a lot of bones in it. You're going to see some major wait times if you plan to go during a busy hour. Almost impossible to come in with any group larger than 8 because it's not that big and they don't take reservations. We had a 30 minutes wait for a group of 4 during dinner time. We are regulars here and love it. Chef is Michelin starred (came from NY). Food is amazing. Service is always fast and friendly. Ive been to Uncle Zhou's twice - lunch and dinner. Both were fantastic meals. The servers are attentive but not bothersome and can offer suggestions and know the kitchen and menu well. They don't serve wine/beer but you can bring your own if you like. The menu is ample and diverse. Everything we had was delicious and so fresh. Its a small place and a just off the main road but so worth going! Upon walking in I was immediately greeted and seated at a booth. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with soft Chinese music playing in the background. They took my order quickly and the food came in short order. The food is delicious. The first dish I was served was the lamb ramen with the hand drawn noodles. It was comforting, like wrapping a warm blanket around myself and sitting in front of the fire with good food. You can audibly taste the lamb flavor in the broth, and the other things in the soup really complement the flavor. The noodles themselves are amazing. I've never had ramen this delicious before and they give the ramen a feel of its own. I would definitely come back just off of the noodles alone but the soup is so good it's a definite must. I also ordered the lamb steamed dumplings, which were delicious. Wish I took a bite you could feel the juice squirting into your mouth and the lamb was nice and juicy and really nicely flavored. This is a new Chinese restaurant that moved here from New York, they used to be on the Michelin Guide. I've been here about a handful of times so giving a review of my overall experience: Taste: all the dishes I've tried have been very authentic and tasty. Their signature dishes like the spicy crispy chicken and 水煮鱼 (spicy fish) are all solid. The hand drawn noodles are very tasty too. We learned that there are 2 chefs in the back kitchen, one dedicated to noodle orders and another dedicated to everything else. Service: this has been a hit and miss. There have been instances where we've had to wait 1+ hour to get our food, other times they've been very fast. This place typically fills up on the weekend, so come earlier if you want to avoid the lunch/dinner rush. Atmosphere: the restaurant is newly renovated and everything still seems new. The decor reminds me of China! Overall I will keep coming back since this is one of the more authentic tasting Chinese restaurants! read more

My best friend and I have been seeing this place pop up on all our social media platforms; so we decided to come check it out for lunch. We ordered enough food for like 12 people but we wanted to try a bit of everything. Our waitress happened to be someone my family knew from another spot we frequent with the kids; so it was amazing to have her because I basically just asked, "okay what's your favorite dishes and what's good." Her recommendations did not steer us wrong. I unfortunately did not get all the pictures because I was too busy eating! So starting off, you definitely have to map getting here because I come this way semi frequently and I never knew this place was here. The inside has a vibe and I love it. We got there around 11:20ish on a Friday and there were a few tables in there but it wasn't packed but when we left there was a wait! Definitely a popular spot so go early if you don't like crowds. Service was great! No lie, we ordered and all the food came out..... it was amazing. Prices to portions I feel are semi normal to most more authentic Chinese spots. Presentation was great, the menu itself offers a lot! Hence why we ordered so much. We started off with the edamame (for my kid), Cucumber Salad Henan Style, pan fried lamb dumplings, and the Chinese Lamb Hamburger. The cucumber salad was amazing! Definitely 5/5; I need this recipe for my house. The lamb dumplings were super fresh, cooked great only down fall is you have to make your own sauce. But not a deal breaker. I give those a 4/5. Edamame was edamame you can't mess that up, and the hamburger was interestingly good. It reminded me of a small Chinese stuffed pita. The bread wasn't my favorite; but it wasn't bad, in my mind I wanted the pillow buns from Peking duck . The meat was good but there was a rather powerful cumin taste. It wasn't bad just really potent. I'd give those a 3.5/5. Next everything else came out. We legit ran out of room on the table. We got the following...Mapo Tofu (5/5), Prawns with Henan Sauce (4.5/5), Pork Belly w. Preserved Veges (5/5), Dry Stir-Fry Cauliflower (5/5), Beef Hand-Drawn Wide Noodle (3.5/5) and Dial Oil Hand-Drawn Wide Noodle (5/5). I definitely want to come back for other noodle and vegetables options. My favorite was the cauliflower and the mapo tofu, the dry seasoning on the cauliflower was spectacular. The tofu had great flavor with a little tongue numbing sensation. The pork belly was really tasty a little too soft for my liking but the flavor was there. The prawns had great flavor and were huge but a smidge overcooked which made peeling more difficult. As for the noodles.... I got the beef bc my kid and I were sharing and she wanted a soup base. She loved it and ate the majority of it; it was good but was lacking flavor which I had to add... I know that's normal but I like it already seasoned. The dial oil noodles were where it was at; the sauce it was tossed in was great and well I prefer dry noodles anyhow. Texture of the noodles were awesome! I do feel they should offer normal kitchen shears for cutting rather than the kids safety scissors which were difficult to use. All in all this place was great. But of course, you start mixing the noodles, you look at the chewy-ness and bam. You're taken to flavortown. At $10 a bowl, this thing is def worth getting. Pork belly with pickled veggies: Classic Chinese dish with melt-in-your-mouth pork belly. When I say melt in your mouth, I mean you can slice it with little effort from your chopsticks.
