Stopped in for the brewery tour and stayed for brunch. Brewery tour was free, fun and informative. It's the only 100% organic brewery in Illinois! They poured you a pint to start the tour and refills throughout. Highly recommend stopping in. After the tour we stopped in for brunch which was amazing. This is such an under-rated spot on the outskirts of Wrigley - it's a little bit "nicer" than most of the other restaurants on Clark, so it makes for a really awesome date night spot or a place to celebrate a special occasion. They have a brewery on-site so there's always great beer options, and the food never seems to miss! On top of the high quality food and drink, they are ALSO an event venue! Most nights, there's either trivia, live music, or a comedy show happening in the back. As musicians playing at Uncommon Ground for the first time, we couldn't have had a better experience: really friendly and accommodating staff and sound man, a great, cozy music room packed with listeners who bought tickets (we were the opening act, but there were more people than those who came for the headliner). You can dine in the music room (I think), as people were seated at tables. The restaurant section looks cozy and inviting. The food was totally ok, but not amazing and it's overpriced (a burger or bean burger for around $15 with no sides). Their flagship IPA beer was great. The bartender friendly. Charging for ice cubes is something I have never seen before but another restaurant in Lakeview charge us $4 for rocks! Ordered over the phone for curbside service and staff was very friendly and professional. Due to quarantine restrictions for us, we really appreciated curbside service as an option. Hubby ordered the Smashburger and I had the soup and salad combo. I really enjoyed the vegetarian chili - lots of flavor and very satisfying. First, our waiter was a lovely person. But the service was awful. I had four friends visiting and I wanted to take them to a neighborhood brunch spot to sit outside...even though there were numerous empty tables, the host said No. I asked why and he said "we don't seat 5 people outside... (this ain't true, I've eaten there before with 6 outside). Then, he proceeded to seat us in the back empty room, in a corner with no people. There was a stage and microphone as of it was a performance space. No one else was in the room. It felt very bizarre. The waiter took our order, and then disappeared... he brought our drinks and came to apologize that a large party was there and the kitchen was backed up. We waited 45 minutes for our food. The food was fine - but we were all starving and annoyed. Eventually he came back and brought the check. When we walked out, the two front rooms were half empty, and the patio was still half empty.... I don't know where the 30 person party was but we did not see them. My husband and I went to this local restaurant in Wrigleyville 3 times during our 2 day stay. Everything was delicious. The chicken sandwich was fresh and delicious. I reallyyyy wanted to like this restaurant, but I unfortunately had a negative experience. I came with friends for brunch and, despite the restaurant not being busy, had very slow service. It took at least 20 minutes for a waitress to even approach our table after we were seated, then waited even longer to be checked up on between interactions. For appetizers, my table split the sweet potato fries with goat cheese fondue (which was INCREDIBLE) and cheese curds. I would definitely recommend the fries with the goat cheese dip...super delicious. I had trouble picking my entree because everything on the menu looked unique and yummy, but wound up ordering the chilaquiles. There's no way to put this nicely...this dish was downright horrible. It was essentially a huge plate of stale tortilla strips with burnt pieces of egg. There was no flavor whatsoever and I'm pretty sure it was missing the spicy chorizo it was supposed to come with. My meal was also supposed to come with a side of breakfast potatoes, but those never arrived. I'd probably go back solely because the menu was so diverse, but this experience was disappointing. read more

Stopped in for a drink before dinner. Atmosphere was great buy was pretty empty and the bartender was totally unattentive. My husband had to ask for a menu, the bartender handed us 1, come on, there's two of us! Then he took my husband's while I was looking over the menu, delivered his drink and walked away. We had to flag him down (mind you, there really wasn't anyone in there) to get my drink. We where there almost 2 hours, the bartender stop by once. When we were ready to leave we flagged another employee down for our check, he looked away, said something to another employee and she finally came over only to tell us we'd have to wait for the bartender. We went here a couple times earlier this year and the food / beer was always pretty decent. It definitely satisfied the "American" food cravings. We found ourselves in the area again today and decided to stop by for a quick bite. We ordered the chicken sandwich, cup of chili, smash burger, and sweet potato fries, as well as a Pilsner. Well, the burger turned out a bit dry with a lot of pieces that were impossible to chew. I was trying to power through it because I just wanted to eat and sometimes things happen and food isn't always going to come out as intended. Towards the middle of the burger I got to some seriously non-chewable beef bites that I had to spit out. I couldn't finish 2/3 of the burger and decided to just get the check and let the waiter know about the food. I complemented the fries and the beer. The chicken sandwich and chili were fine. I also tipped the waiter 25% because it sucks dealing with these situations and the food quality is not their fault. To my surprise they did not take the burger off the check and told me that It was because I ate half of it. (As I said earlier I was trying to power through the dryness to avoid the situation that ended up happening anyway). Even the parts I did eat were not enjoyable and that shouldn't be the customer experience. I asked them to see if they could remove it. Once they spoke to the manager they returned with a couple of 10% off coupons for next visit. Not once did the manager talk to me, apologize, or acknowledge me directly. I think they were busy lighting candles. Stop making the poor waitstaff do your job for you and deal with these issues yourself. I gave the coupons back and we are definitely never coming again because of the management style and not even the food issue. Like I said, we've been here before and sometimes things don't come out right and it's okay. Just comp the $15 burger so that we come back and spend more money in the future... They either get a lot of people trying to scam them for free food to be so rude about comping an inedible burger or they are already going out of business. Came for the Greenstar tour but the tour was full so decided to pop in for brunch. We ordered a round of the certified organic beers then perused the menu. Prices were slightly higher than I was expecting for the area but that didn't stop my hunger and I was impressed by the sourcing the restaurant does from local farmers. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with potatoes which was bacon, egg, fancy cheese, tomato, arugula on a fancy bun with some amazing breakfast potatoes ($15). My friend ordered the same except got a side salad instead of the potatoes. The salad looked pleasant but these potatoes were perfectly crispy. So you do you in that decision. Husband got the chicken and waffles ($16) after asking what the largest item on the menu was. It didn't come with a side but he thought it was good. The place has two rooms and a patio although the patio wasn't open in January (although it was close to 50 degrees yesterday).
