I've been coming here since they opened 8+ years ago, and it's still one of my favorite taquerias in the neighborhood. The food has always been incredibly consistent, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back. One thing I really appreciate is that they're one of the few places around that serves cochinita pibil, a traditional specialty from Mexico's Yucatán region. It's not something you find on many menus, and they do a great job with it. My go-to favorites are the tostadas and the mole--both are always delicious. And if the mango salsa is available, don't skip it. It adds the perfect fresh, sweet kick to just about anything. After nearly a decade of coming here, I can honestly say they've earned my loyalty. Salsa bar was nice to have accessible. $14 for a gluten free burrito, I can't really complain! I also don't have much to compare it to. To my surprise there was no avocado in my burrito, but the thing could barely close haha. The tortilla held together pretty well too! We also tried the fresh ceviche and that was flavorful. I have been here several times now and have tried the torta (really good flavor and crisp on the sandwich) and the plantain burrito (this is what a friend recommended to me to try and it truly was a life changing experience). I have also tried their plates and several meats including carne asada, cochinita pibil (slow roasted pork), and poc chuc (grilled pork). All the meats had really good flavor but my favorite has been the cochinita pibil -- delicious in burritos, tortas, or tacos and great flavor. The 2nd and 3rd visits were as satisfying as the 1st. We tried Taqueria Los Mayas several months ago. We ordered different dishes but both had mole which was memorable. Months later, I remembered how delicious the mole was and ordered it in the burrito bowl. The dish was aesthetically pleasing and colorful: against the dark mole were crumbles of queso surrounded by purple pickled onions, red rice, greens, black beans, and sprinkles of sesame seeds. On the 3rd visit, I tried the breakfast burrito. The eggs were perfectly scrambled and the potatoes were comforting. My hubby ordered the tortilla soup - fitting for a cold day - and the fish tacos, which he enjoyed very much. The fish was fresh and sauteed with a slight crisp. Almost every dish came with tortilla chips. There's a salsa bar with 3 salsas, one green (mild), one orange with mango (mild and our favorite), and one hot.
