At first I was kind of dreading trying this place out since I heard the SoCal location was just ok from a friend. However, I'm glad we gave this place a chance! There was a good number of people for the Saturday lunch rush, but not enough to pack the entire restaurant. We were immediately seated and our orders were taken very promptly. For each hot pot, you get a free side of either rice or some noodles. We got the: 1) Thai tom yum hot pot with lamb shoulder: -The balance of spice and sour was perfect for this soup. -It came with an abundant amount of toppings and meat. 2) Healthy tomato hot soup with the certified Angus beef: -The flavor of tomato was hearty and strong for this broth. It went really well with the beef. -This also came with a lot of toppings and meat. 3) Budae jjigae noodles: -I chose the option of Shin Ramyun noodles and it was definitely more than just one pack of noodles in there since I got so much. -There was also a fried egg, cheese, pieces of spam, a lot of kimchi, and a single hot dog cut in half. -Simple, but satisfied my cravings. All the rice orders came with some furikake sprinkled on top. Our only issue was that hot pots were left to boil for an extremely long time, making the soups very, very hot and making the ingredients over cook. The other hot pot places we've been to only had enough fuel so that the hot pot would stop cooking at a certain point. It wasn't until we were almost done that a server came out to put our fires out. It was raining the day we went, so eating hotpot just sounded nice. This was located on the 2nd floor of a small plaza. Specifically all hotpot. No appetizers from the menu we had. Refer to Yelper Tiffany L's photo of the menu, that's the same one I saw. They ran out of Japanese Sukiyaki when we went, and suggested we come in the next day (which we couldn't as we were visiting from out of town). The menu was somewhat confusing to fill out, and the waitress took the sheet to mark in sharpie/marker when taking our orders. I thought the hotpot choice selection was okay. I choose B - Hot Spicy Soup with #3 - Kurobata Pork. All the soups are chicken based, and the hot spicy didn't seem that spicy. I didn't really like everything in my hotpot, as there seemed to be a lot of veggies. The sauce station was on a small table in containers. My fiancee and his mom liked the tomato soup base. It tastes very similar to a chinese dish - tomato and egg - except in soup version. We also got rice and noodles with it. I like combining my food with rice a lot, so I got pretty full off that. For the noodles, its best to drop it in after you finish majority of what's in your pot. Parking was hard to find - so we ended up parking in the lot above the movie theater. Be aware!!! This place charges 15% service fee WITHOUT any signs(just look at the pictures, no warning signs at all). I'm happy to tip but forcing me to tip 15% without any warnings makes me angry. Pretty decent hot pot! Some of the stuff you can definitely just make yourself though.

We were a party of seven, but the restaurant was empty. I like how you have to use your phone to scan the qr code to get the menu and order your food. After placing our order it was close to an hour before we all had food in front of us, but by the time we got our drinks we were practically finished eating. Service is non-existent. To get anything, including our drinks and napkins, we had to go to the counter to ask fir them at least once. They add an automatic service charge to the bill so they don't have any desire to help you. We will not be returning. read more

After living in Davis for two years, this was my first time at Uniboil. The restaurant wasn't too busy the time we went and some of the staff was standing around which is why I did not understand why the service wasn't better than what we received. We had to get up to ask them for things. I ordered the Uniboil Satay Soup with angus beef. It didn't come with the crab leg or tempura. But also you only get like one of each item that is listed on the order so you don't really get much to eat and that was disappointing. The soup was just okay. When I got my meal, it was missing spam and ingredients that the menu stated it came with. I was very confused and told a waitress who eventually gave me a plate on the side with the missing items. The flavor was a bit bland and not flavorful as other hot pot places. I also think the portions are very small for what it costs. I had to change my rating for this place because they have improved their service, and food quality over the past two years that I've been going here. First, they hired more workers, so the service is a lot faster than before. I used to wait almost an hour on busy days for my hotpot to come out but now it comes out relatively quickly. Second, they also used to not serve the hotpot with any sauces, and now they have a table dedicated for sauces -- with garlic soy sauce, vinegar, etc. where you can build your own sauce. Third, the restaurant owner used to close on Sundays, but after I told her I tried to come on a few Sundays and was sad to see that it was closed, they're now open on Sundays as well! I love to see a restaurant take feedback and make changes to improve. They've gotten a lot more business over the past year and I can see why. I really love the owner and the workers are very kind and attentive. They constantly come around to refill my water & ask if I need anything. I love the Thai Tom yum broth with the angus beef hot pot. It comes with a drizzle of coconut milk which really adds to the flavor. The rose milk tea is also really good!! I highly recommend this place if you're craving some hot pot on a cold day :) ONE THING TO BE AWARE OF: they already charge a "15% service fee" as tip so be aware of that if you're adding tip on top of your total. read more

This spot took over the old Hometown Chinese restaurant.. may be hard to find because it's in the middle of a small plaza, and you have to walk upstairs (on top of T4). The menu is confusing. And the service was really poor when we got there. I'd understand if the restaurant were new or very busy, but it wasn't. They have a variety of different options that are unique compared to other hot pot places. We decided to share a pot (with extra instant ramen and bean curd) and the appetizer sampler. We got the Szechuan Pepper Numbing Pork knuckles (15.99) Service is SLOW. Don't know why they took so long to bring out waters. Don't know why they took longer to bring out our appetizer than the hot pot (which already took long). Good thing the food made up for this! I think one pot is enough to share between two people, especially if you get the extra carbs. I highly recommend getting the bean curd.. so good! They give a good amount of the pork knuckles, but I'd wish they'd give more broth when it dries out. The sampler was subpar.. very salty and not worth what we paid. The hot pot was really good! I'd give it a 5/5. Full of flavor, and just the right amount of spice. Will probably come back to try other items.. hoping the service gets better! read more

If I could give it half of a star I would. This is my first time here for my bday and it was horrible. I understand that they were busy so I don't want to bash the servers as it was busy. But my god the food was horrible. My friend who I went with never got her taro tea after an hour of waiting. When we got the first food, it was the wrong order and I didn't know what it was exactly but I and my friend thought it was her order since she has meat in hers. When my food was given, it was also wrong and it was my friend food correct food. So for a solid 15 minutes we were eating some other food rather than the one we ordered. When I told the server that that was the wrong item and I got the crawfish hot pot. They had to redo it. It came out kinda fast but at that point I just wanted to leave. When I ate food it was horrible. The broth has no flavor, the crawfish was bland and tasted frozen. Everything in dish was cold and tasted frozen. It was horrible and the worst I've never had something so bad and I've eaten at bad places. 10/10 would NOT recommend coming here. read more

The food sucked, me and my gf shared a beep hotpot, the majority was veggies. We got the traditional spicy broth, wasn't really flavorful , had to keep using the sauces. Even the Sauceda sucked tho, the sesame paste type sauce was terrible dont even try. The garlic soy was alright and the siracha was cool. We went in on Thursday afternoon around 4, they were completely empty. Service was terrible everything is order over a website and they act like they too good to come provide service.
