I would venture to say this is the best stall at Mills market. We came on a Sunday at about noon and this was the only stall that had a line. By the time we left other stalls had lines, but it was clear that this is the most popular. I got in line without even knowing what I wanted to get. This place has all rice balls. They run out of their most popular one, which is the Uni, so if you see Uni, you should get it. The line moves pretty quickly because the rice balls are already made. It's just people deciding which ones they want. I got a miso salmon and a sea bream. For me, 2 to 3 rice balls is all I would need to be full. There is a lot of filling in it. I loved the sea bream, the seasoning in the rice was absolutely delicious. The miso salmon was pretty good, but it was missing the seasoning so in contrast, I would've liked two sea breams. This is such a simple concept, but executed so well. I would highly recommend checking it out if you're in Mills market. It's also easy to grab and go so you weren't stuck trying to find a table since you can eat it just standing. read more

The gal at the front counter was extremely helpful and explained all of the different flavors so we could choose wisely. Unfortunately this is probably the most disappointing Onigiri we've ever had. We ordered 4 different ones to try. Tuna, Beef, Shrimp, and Salmon. ALL 4 had very little to no filling whatsoever. All rice and nothing else. I only bothered to take a picture of the tuna and mayo one. They were so disappointing. We just dug out what little meat we could find and tossed everything else in the garbage. I am completely shocked because I thought this place was recommended as a possible Michelin star kind of establishment. Not exactly sure what all these wonderful reviews are talking about. I had to do an up close picture so you could actually SEE the tiny bits of tuna. I took an after shot too, so you could see what was left when we ate the little bits of tuna. I even highlighted and circled the little bits of tuna. The beef tasted pretty good for what little you could find. (You'll see my pictures.) The shrimp tempura was delicious, but only had two little pieces of shrimp. The salmon Onigiri was the exact same meat as the tuna. We tried a sandwich from one of the other vendors and it was delicious. We left hungry and went across the street to have ice cream! Overall, it was quite the disappointing lunch. Michelin guide said this was a Bib Gourmet location. Located inside Mills Market the parking can be a challenge but behind and sometimes on Colonial spots are available. A walk up counter with a view to the crew cranking out rice with yummy surprises inside. I ordered up salmon, shrimp and tuna/mayo. Salmon was ok. Not my favorite of the three but still ok. The tuna/mayo was pretty good. The slight sriracha bite was just right. The shrimp one was my favorite. Didn't taste "fishy" at all. We also had the curry hash brown. Very good. I would say the highlight. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and patient as it was my first visit. Not a bad value either. Put the receipt in photos so you could see what we ordered. A spectacular little kiosk located in an amazing Asian food hall in Orlando. If you come here (or any of the places at this location) good luck finding parking close to the front. The lot they have is small and ruthless with everyone else trying to find spots as well. There is street parking as well but difficult to see what is good and what can get you a ticket if you park in the wrong area. The location itself is amazing and you can see their kiosk by their adorable banner and front counter. My wife and I stood for about fifteen minutes in line to get some of their onigiri. We got a few different ones including the shrimp tempura, tuna mayo and the miso tantan. The rice to meat ratio is spectacular. Every bit is the perfect balance. The shrimp tempura was heavenly and the perfect crunch. The tuna mayo was the right consistency and had a nice seasoning to it as well. The tantan was very interesting and while I loved it, I wouldn't go out of my way to get this one again personally. Prices are reasonable, each item costing about $4-$6 depending on the filling inside. I have to be honest and say that I usually always have the same problem with onigiri because I never think there's enough filling and there's always way too much rice, and this place is no exception. I got the TRUFFLE SEA BREAM and for $8, it felt like a huge rip off. Mostly rice, and maybe one tablespoon's worth of truffle sea bream. I could taste the truffle, so at least it had that going for it, but the value was not adding up, even considering the presence of truffle. The rice wasn't exactly flavorful either, despite them "seasoning" it. I also don't think they have soy sauce, which would've helped. Or maybe I just didn't see it. I don't know if the other flavors were cheaper or had more filling, but this was hugely disappointing. It felt like they're coasting off of hype, marketing, and cute merch. If only they put that effort into increasing the value in the actual food. They don't seem to have any issues with people lining up though, so what do I know. Also, lines move ridiculously slow when the onigiris seem to be ready to go right by the register. It was maddening. P.S. for anyone who wants to try the uni onigiri, it doesn't say anywhere in print, but the cashier told me it was $25 and would have to be made fresh. $25 sounded outrageous because we're talking about small onigiri, especially depending on how little they put inside. I decided to go to Unigirl for a quick lunch during the work day. I've never been to the Asian market and it was a pleasant surprise! The atmosphere was so cute and perfect for a sit down, casual meal. You can watch the staff prepare the food, knowing it's certainly fresh. Finally was able to snag some on a Thursday afternoon, they seemed to make many different varieties when we visited. We tried the fried chicken, $4.50 and the spicy garlic crab, $6.50. Of the two I think the fried chicken was better, although I wasn't too impressed with either of these. I think they are a little pricey for what you get and I don't think the rice tasted that special. Service was quick and they helped us pick our choices. This place has been on my list for a while now, and it jumped to the top of the best after I experienced the best restaurant in town, Sorekara. Sister restaurants, along with the best noodles in town, Zaru. Not only related to greatness, but internationally recognized now on the Michelin Guide. I had to come check it out. This place takes up a really gorgeous piece of real estate in the Mills Market. Natural looking wooden counters, curtains reminiscent of a Japanese izakaya, just a cool looking spot. In the hour we waited for them to open, the team working hard the whole time, making their signature onigiri. Service was dynamite. Very nice people, many of whom I recognized from Sorekara. Huge smiles on their face, friendly, warm service. The best service in town. As for the food, we only got to try a couple of things, because we tried things from other stalls in the Market. But I wanted to grab one of each and go to town. They all sounded really good. I ended up going with their special, a Hokkaido Uni Onigiri with salmon roe and shiso leaf. It just sounded so good. And it was good! Awesome, white sticky rice Ocean umami to the max with the uni. Fun, salty pops of flavor from the roe. And the slightly minty herbaceous from the shiso. This thing was decadent. After saving Mills Market on my list of places to try, I explored the different booths they had inside, and UniGirl was my number one spot to get. They open a little later than the market does, but it was worth the wait. I'm a massive lover of onigiri and usually make them myself since there isn't a place near me that sells them in Jacksonville. I hopped in line a few minutes before they opened since the line was getting long. I decided to get two to try and got the shrimp and chicken. They were delicious! Everything I hoped and dreamed of!! A really cute onigiri booth in a small Asian food court. Most of the onigiri are made, then packaged in plastic and set out near the counter. However, you can request special onigiri made if you see it on the menu but don't see it on the counter. For instance my friend special ordered a plum onigiri and I ordered the uni ikura onigiri which was absolutely stunning (photo attached). I also tried the beef onigiri. Everything was really good. The sushi rice flavor and temperature was perfect. The uni and ikura were really fresh and plentiful. I wish that all of the onigiri were made to order. The ones on the counter get a bit lukewarm and can sit out for a while if customers don't grab them. The onigiri I ordered fresh were way better in comparison. read more

This place is so good! It gets pretty packed in this market though when it opens. Everything is set up so nicely and the line does move fairly quickly. I find myself always checking their Instagram story for what flavor they have or if Uni will be in store. I've gone so many times and still have not met the star! The staff here are so nice and friendly! I am pretty sure I have tried all the flavors by now. The Fried Chicken is my absolute favorite but the Tantan is really good too. OH.MY.GOD. PUT THIS ON YOUR LIST NOW!!!! Now, I had pretty low expectations coming in here. I knew it would probably be good but all I heard and saw about when it came to Mills Market was Kai Kai. And that is an absolute sham. Not only is this restaurant amazing, the pricing here is FANTASTIC. while ongiri is not a popular restaurant concept, orlando does have omsubee which has a cult like following from everyone I know who has went. Pricing everything minus the Hokkaido Uni (which is a steep $25) is around 5ish dollars or less. After my wallet cried at the price of Uni, I went with the fried chicken, beef sukiyaki and shrimp tempura options which totaled to about 15 dollars. From the first bite I had, I knew they were not only committed to making sure they delivered in good flavor but also freshness. The line was a bit long when we went in but it moved relatively fast like two minutes fast. While we waited, I saw them continuously making more ongiri, and restocking. I saw it but wow, that first bite was warm and I could tell this was freshly made. This was definitely something made with passion for the craft. I have not had an onigiri this good in years. That was just the fried chicken one! I was IN AWE and was ready to go back for more!! The beef sukiyaki was no different. I was absolutely floored and left speechless at how good it was. It was DELICIOUS. I do recommend that you eat these right way or relatively soon after purchasing. The shrimp tempura one was my least favorite of the three. It was just okay but I had this one much later after it had cooled down. And if it was okay then, I can't even imagine how much better it was when it was warm. The food here is amazing. Sure, seating is atrocious here and it's packed still even though the initial buzz has died down in the market but with onigiri, it's an easy snack to eat while standing off to the side somewhere hoping you don't get hit by someone as they weave through the place. I don't live near here. In fact, this is about a 45 minute to hour drive for me but I already want to go back. Like this restaurant was absolutely worth the drive alone. If I lived or worked around here, I would be here ALL the time!! Seriously even if you have never had onigiri, you NEED TO COME here. I cannot recommend this place enough. 10/10 read more

We were on a mission to try as many unique places as possible on our extended stay in Orlando. I found Unigirl on yelp and since we don't have an onigiri specific eatery back home I thought this was a must try. The place is in a multi unit style establishment called Millers Market. Parking is definitely a challenge with spaces available in back. However it's very busy so parking is hard to get and you'll have to park down a street or parallel in front. There are several places and Unigirl is in the far back. However the place is small enough so you won't miss it. Uni was not busy when we arrived around 1:30pm on a weekday. We decided to try two yelp recommended items and two random ones. We got the salmon miso, spicy garlic crab and fried chicken along with a curry hash brown. The curry hash brown was good. It was a hash brown sprinkled with a curry seasoning pack. A tasty snack. Next up was the spicy crab, it's hard to describe but I would say it was more of an overwhelming fish flavor. Not spicy at all and a lot of rice. The rice was very thick with no seasoning. I've had the onigiri before but maybe Americanized. I've never had that much rice in an onigiri. It was a pretty bland option. Next up was the fried chicken. This was much better and my favorite. The chicken still had some crunch and I loved the sauce. However, there was so little filling to rice ratio I would have loved more of the chicken in each bite and the tice could have used a little more seasoning. Final option was the miso salmon. This was my daughter's favorite. The salmon was definitely tasty but again the filling to rice ratio was an issue. All of the onigiri was mostly rice and what felt like a spoonful of filling. Loved the concept. Fresh made onigiri, and really good flavor. I honestly don't understand why more places are not doing this. Sapporo Ramen use to have these when they were still open, and I'd always order the raw salmon and tempura one. Sooo amazing and only $2 each. That's the problem I seem to have with Unigirl, and why I bring this up at all. You need to eat close to 3 or 4 to come close to being satisfied because they are small and that adds up to almost $20 depending on which Onigiri you get. Granted, it's inside of a market where there's 2 other food kiosks so you could in theory just get 1 or 2 and then something else from the other stalls. I still find it really expensive. I also ordered the mocktail made of fresh fruit juice and it was maybe 7oz of juice, that cost me $5 I want to love Unigirl but shelling out almost $30 just for me and leaving only ok, not full is rough. I came here for their soft opening and opening day. It was extremely busy both days with a line out the door! They have a good variety of Onigiri (hence the name). I remember getting the marinated salmon roll rice all and loving it! The staff were very friendly and did a great job of pushing the line and taking care of everyone in a timely manner. They stay open till around 4p, or till they run out of product. They are located in a multi restaurant spot on Mills in the heart of "little Nom". You go to the counter and pick the rice balls from the display you want to purchase. They're all labeled with their respective fillings. I will definitely be back! I finally went to Unigirl, and it was fantastic. Onigiri are Japanese rice balls wrapped with a seaweed sheet and can be filled with different things or eaten plain. I tried this in New York City before, and ever since, I wanted to find something similar in Orlando. Unigirl is located inside the Mills Market (formerly Tien Hung Market), which has been transformed into a food hall hosting Banh Mi Boy and Kai Kai BBQ. I ordered the mayo tuna and the crispy chicken. Both were delicious. You have to eat them right away while they are warm; otherwise, they won't taste the same. You can see the team working on making the rice balls on the spot. There is a seating area inside the market. This is such a cool news spot. However, parking in this area is tricky. I was lucky to find a good spot. I recommend following Unigirl on Instagram to stay updated on their hours and days of operation. Also, if you are lucky, you meet their dog. read more
