A really cute onigiri booth in a small Asian food court. Most of the onigiri are made, then packaged in plastic and set out near the counter. However, you can request special onigiri made if you see it on the menu but don't see it on the counter. For instance my friend special ordered a plum onigiri and I ordered the uni ikura onigiri which was absolutely stunning (photo attached). I also tried the beef onigiri. Everything was really good. The sushi rice flavor and temperature was perfect. The uni and ikura were really fresh and plentiful. I wish that all of the onigiri were made to order. The ones on the counter get a bit lukewarm and can sit out for a while if customers don't grab them. The onigiri I ordered fresh were way better in comparison. read more

This place is so good! It gets pretty packed in this market though when it opens. Everything is set up so nicely and the line does move fairly quickly. I find myself always checking their Instagram story for what flavor they have or if Uni will be in store. I've gone so many times and still have not met the star! The staff here are so nice and friendly! I am pretty sure I have tried all the flavors by now. The Fried Chicken is my absolute favorite but the Tantan is really good too. OH.MY.GOD. PUT THIS ON YOUR LIST NOW!!!! Now, I had pretty low expectations coming in here. I knew it would probably be good but all I heard and saw about when it came to Mills Market was Kai Kai. And that is an absolute sham. Not only is this restaurant amazing, the pricing here is FANTASTIC. while ongiri is not a popular restaurant concept, orlando does have omsubee which has a cult like following from everyone I know who has went. Pricing everything minus the Hokkaido Uni (which is a steep $25) is around 5ish dollars or less. After my wallet cried at the price of Uni, I went with the fried chicken, beef sukiyaki and shrimp tempura options which totaled to about 15 dollars. From the first bite I had, I knew they were not only committed to making sure they delivered in good flavor but also freshness. The line was a bit long when we went in but it moved relatively fast like two minutes fast. While we waited, I saw them continuously making more ongiri, and restocking. I saw it but wow, that first bite was warm and I could tell this was freshly made. This was definitely something made with passion for the craft. I have not had an onigiri this good in years. That was just the fried chicken one! I was IN AWE and was ready to go back for more!! The beef sukiyaki was no different. I was absolutely floored and left speechless at how good it was. It was DELICIOUS. I do recommend that you eat these right way or relatively soon after purchasing. The shrimp tempura one was my least favorite of the three. It was just okay but I had this one much later after it had cooled down. And if it was okay then, I can't even imagine how much better it was when it was warm. The food here is amazing. Sure, seating is atrocious here and it's packed still even though the initial buzz has died down in the market but with onigiri, it's an easy snack to eat while standing off to the side somewhere hoping you don't get hit by someone as they weave through the place. I don't live near here. In fact, this is about a 45 minute to hour drive for me but I already want to go back. Like this restaurant was absolutely worth the drive alone. There's three different restaurants in Mills market and then there's like a little shop where you can pick out some snack items. There's some sit down tables and some standup tables. It was pretty busy for a Thursday at 12:30 pm, but I was in and out! We were on a mission to try as many unique places as possible on our extended stay in Orlando. I found Unigirl on yelp and since we don't have an onigiri specific eatery back home I thought this was a must try. The place is in a multi unit style establishment called Millers Market. Parking is definitely a challenge with spaces available in back. However it's very busy so parking is hard to get and you'll have to park down a street or parallel in front. There are several places and Unigirl is in the far back. However the place is small enough so you won't miss it. Uni was not busy when we arrived around 1:30pm on a weekday. We decided to try two yelp recommended items and two random ones. We got the salmon miso, spicy garlic crab and fried chicken along with a curry hash brown. The curry hash brown was good. It was a hash brown sprinkled with a curry seasoning pack. A tasty snack. Next up was the spicy crab, it's hard to describe but I would say it was more of an overwhelming fish flavor. Not spicy at all and a lot of rice. The rice was very thick with no seasoning. I've had the onigiri before but maybe Americanized. I've never had that much rice in an onigiri. It was a pretty bland option. Next up was the fried chicken. This was much better and my favorite. The chicken still had some crunch and I loved the sauce. However, there was so little filling to rice ratio I would have loved more of the chicken in each bite and the tice could have used a little more seasoning. Final option was the miso salmon. This was my daughter's favorite. The salmon was definitely tasty but again the filling to rice ratio was an issue. All of the onigiri was mostly rice and what felt like a spoonful of filling. Loved the concept. Fresh made onigiri, and really good flavor. I honestly don't understand why more places are not doing this. Sapporo Ramen use to have these when they were still open, and I'd always order the raw salmon and tempura one. Sooo amazing and only $2 each. That's the problem I seem to have with Unigirl, and why I bring this up at all. You need to eat close to 3 or 4 to come close to being satisfied because they are small and that adds up to almost $20 depending on which Onigiri you get. Granted, it's inside of a market where there's 2 other food kiosks so you could in theory just get 1 or 2 and then something else from the other stalls. I still find it really expensive. I also ordered the mocktail made of fresh fruit juice and it was maybe 7oz of juice, that cost me $5 I want to love Unigirl but shelling out almost $30 just for me and leaving only ok, not full is rough. I came here for their soft opening and opening day. It was extremely busy both days with a line out the door! They have a good variety of Onigiri (hence the name). I remember getting the marinated salmon roll rice all and loving it! The staff were very friendly and did a great job of pushing the line and taking care of everyone in a timely manner. They stay open till around 4p, or till they run out of product. They are located in a multi restaurant spot on Mills in the heart of "little Nom". You go to the counter and pick the rice balls from the display you want to purchase. They're all labeled with their respective fillings. I will definitely be back! I finally went to Unigirl, and it was fantastic. Onigiri are Japanese rice balls wrapped with a seaweed sheet and can be filled with different things or eaten plain. I tried this in New York City before, and ever since, I wanted to find something similar in Orlando. Unigirl is located inside the Mills Market (formerly Tien Hung Market), which has been transformed into a food hall hosting Banh Mi Boy and Kai Kai BBQ. I ordered the mayo tuna and the crispy chicken. Both were delicious. You have to eat them right away while they are warm; otherwise, they won't taste the same. You can see the team working on making the rice balls on the spot. There is a seating area inside the market. This is such a cool news spot. However, parking in this area is tricky. Onigiri we got Crab, tantan, salmon and others, I forgot the others. They are really good, great in flavors and very filling! We got fried shrimp balls and those are my favorite. I am like mills market number one supporter. I've been coming since the food festival at the acre almost a year ago and I've seen how much they have expanded during that time. I am loving it even more as I go. To all the reviews that were expecting some really high quality food, please understand that onigiri is considered an on the go meal and designed to be portable. It's traditional onigiri, not an elevated elaborate version. I honestly love them! The miso salmon is amazing and I'll always get an Unagi if I can score one before sell out. The line is always so long, because everyone wants to try it. The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars, is just because i can relate to a few other reviews I've seen online on tiktok. The poor reviews I tend to see come from the people who bought the tuna mayo onigiri. And it is just tuna and mayonnaise so if that's not for you, I would try to pick something other than the "safe option" and give the other flavors a chance because they are so delicious. I do however agree, I am not a fan of the tuna mayo and it was underwhelming. BUT please try other flavors! Do not be quick to give a bad review of a restaurant based off the most basic opinion they have, it's literally the safe option. If you want something that feels like the safe option but is really tasty and something like what you expect from the tuna, get the miso salmon. Miso anything really. Anything bbq is delicious too. The vibe in there is so cute and fun and they even recently installed gatcha machines in the back. Unigirl is such a fun, unique spot tucked away in the Mills Market in the Mills50 District. All of their Onigiri (Japanese rice balls) are made to order, and you can see all the employees hard at work making each fresh onigiri! They currently update their hours on Instagram, and they are only open until they sell out. The day we visited they opened at 11:30am (9/2/24). There's a parking lot in the back of the market, and it's pretty small and tight so I would recommend arriving early. We got in line just a little after 11:30am and waiting over half an hour to get to the front and place our order. We got a few tuna mayo onigiri ($4 each) and one miso salmon onigiri ($4.50). They had several different flavors to choose from and all ranged from $4-6 each. They were both delicious, but the portion is small. The tuna mayo had a bit of a mustard hint to it, and both onigiri had seasoned rice with edamame. I think this is a great spot to try out, but personally I wouldn't want to wait that long and pay that much for a small snack that I enjoy making at home. Was not impressed with their triangular onigiri. Too much rice and not enough filling. I did try the spicy crab which of course was not spicy. Asked for hot sauce but they do not have any and said that their seasoning is in the inside which is nothing compared to the fat amount of rice that you get. Ratio was way off. Came during their soft opening. Food is decent but there were a few things that could be improved upon. While the rice looks well seasoned the bites I took from 3 of their onigiri were not as flavorful as I would've liked. Perhaps they could add to the seasoning? Like some vinegar the way sushi rice is done. I found it also to be an odd choice to add a soy bean or green bean to the mixture. I personally did not like the bites where there was a bean because it was too much of a stark contrast. If the rice can stand on its own, I don't believe any other additions are necessary. Service was prompt and friendly. You could see the staff furiously making the onigiri just to keep up with the ordering. I ordered shrimp tempura, eel (unagi), fried chicken, and spicy crab mayo. The hot food items such as shrimp tempura, eel, and chicken were still warm inside the rice which is a testament to how fresh the ingredients are. I don't think it's fair to compare the onigiri you are getting here compared to say a Japan Lawson, family mart, or 7-11 since this is a higher end item. The onigiri size wise is larger and the ingredients are more premium hence the price difference. I would look forward to seeing if this place wasn't so busy in the future. So happy to have onigiri downtown. What makes this place unique is the variety they offer. We ordered an unagi, tuna and salted salmon. Hubby went back for the fried chicken onigiri. All were excellent but he really loved his fried chicken version. I'm good with the classic tuna salad version but the Unagi was phenomenal. They also had a ikura and a few other unique combinations. What sets them apart, besides the variety, is the rice, which has a slightly nutty flavor. Excellent!
