Hidden gem in Waikīkī for wagyu bento box. The Yakiniku bowl with wagyu is amazing. Definitely worth a meal here if you're in Waikiki.

Legit Japanese curry from Kawagoe has a nice depth of flavor! Although their curry is mild only, they offer extra spicy togarashi to kick up the heat! Zoom in on the bottom left dish and you'll see the togarashi. Spicyyy! It elevates the overall experience. Fresh, plump oysters are flown in from Hiroshima! Katsu is freshly fried and crispy, fukujinzuke: also delicious! Just try it... You won't be disappointed! Park on the street or there's also free parking in the lot behind the restaurant (enter from King St).

We ordered a chicken katsu curry, crab croquette curry, curry udon, and matcha latte. Food came quite quickly. The chicken katsu was really crispy yet tender, my crab croquette was also very crispy outside but creamy inside. The curry is a tad more intense than the other Japanese curries I've had, and the meat looks ground instead of cubed/shredded. The rice is light and fluffy! Perfect for mixing with the curry. The matcha latte was ok. At least it wasn't cloyingly sweet. At first glance the portions don't look big but it was an appropriate size for a person with normal appetite! Given that we had a late breakfast, we were full. Service was prompt and friendly. There were only three working that day; two were in the kitchen and one was serving, bussing, and cashing people out. It's a little cafe, very homey/mom-and-pop. They also sell tshirts! I didn't look very closely but I saw a Crayon Shinchan one. We parked on the street coz it was free and there were plenty open stalls at the time. I want to try their curry pan next! And also their Happy Hour! 2pm-5pm weekdays.

I knew I was going to eat an actual dinner not too long after so I went for the pork tonkatsu curry and a side of Mac salad. They had a deal for like $3-4 more to get both pork and chicken, I should've done that. The curry is pretty dark in color but deep in flavor. I told them it was for dine-in but they still put it into a takeout container, which I wasn't a fan of bc it takes away the crispiness of the tonkatsu. I definitely wish they put more curry bc it was the star of the show. The Mac salad was so bland though and tasted like empty air, definitely wouldn't order again. Overall, solid meal that I wouldn't mind eating again. Don't know if I'd go out of my way for it , but it did what it needed to do to satisfy the tonkatsu craving.

Comfort food…read more.. Growing up surrounded by all these familiarity and not the localized version of Japanese cuisine this was quite comforting and know why this place has been around while others surrounding this Moili'ili area came and gone. Hana no Sato is a cozy spot right on S King Street just before the Elementary School which is close to a busy traffic area but with lots of street metered parking it's very accessible. Dining area is quite small with many filled with regulars I understand you're able to make reservations to secure a spot is nice and great when it's important. Came here to have dinner with Terry who already has been here a few times is nice knowing that she has an idea what I'd like and gosh she sure didn't disappoint at all. Though they do have teishoku menu items many are ala carte style which is nice and shareable though I must warn you that it's quite a generous portion and the service is really fast so I'd suggest to order a few and add on as you go. We did start with Agedashi Tofu (yummy and perfect!), Chicken Karaage (Crispy and flavorful) came with a small salad, Fried Salmon (Probably my favorite) cooked crispy and seasoned to perfection, Small Sashimi Platter (Fresh and beautiful) and a couple of small sushi rolls (natto and ume cucumber). There was nothing that I didn't like all was done perfectly and fast not overly seasoned but just the right amount of flavor making it a very happy and joyful foodie experience at a place that's just simply cozy is a unique find and see why it's a favorite spot for her that we just can't gatekeep so that everyone can support this wonderful local small biz as well. Thank you!

My kids get very hungry right after school, and our food expenses had been adding up and becoming stressful. This place was very affordable and truly helpful for us. It has a casual, comforting feel--just like a traditional Japanese set-meal restaurant. I was a bit unsure about the $9 ramen, but it turned out to be quite good, and my son was very happy with it. I ordered the goya champuru for $10, and it was delicious as well. The Japanese staff seemed very busy, but they were all kind and pleasant, which made the experience even better. We will definitely stop by again after school!
