Mom and Pop biz. Good basic sandwich and delicious bakery. Friendly service. Sandwich with the fresh baked bread: so tasty.

    Spotlight Corner.

Had a reservation at another place but I decided and give this Bakery a try it would be my second time here in 25 years. Man I tell you the ambience makes you feel at home like the traditional days im talking New York Friends Coffee Shop scenes minus the couch and stage but those are extras right. This Bakery keeps it simple yet exquisite, Not so Hidden gem in South Pasadena. This corner bakery literally Union Bakery cause I feel like it brings the crossroads together in one of the greatest Tree Cities in America. Their customer service is very patience, friendly, and attentive. A plus overall would be back frfr if I'm in the area shot I might even bring a first date here hahahaha. PS Food is amazing and orgasmic the taste buds don't lie, I want their recipes lol

The $14 dollar veggie sandwich #trash

Don't buy a veggie sandwich from here if you don't want it to ruin your day. The veggie sandwich comes with literally lettuce, tomato, and cheese (and some mustard) for a whopping $14!!! This is just pure wrong.

Lemon Blueberry Muffin and Chocolate Cake

Driven by this bakery a few times and decided I would give a try last week. I bought the larger lemon blueberry muffin and a brownie. It was actually like a chocolate lava cake of some sorts. The muffin was delicious it had such a good burst of flavor. Loved it. The chocolate was good too, but the lemon blueberry was better and I preferred more. Ambiance was very cute, small and rustic kind of feel to it. I got the biggest surprise of all. When I went to pay it was $22 for 2 pastries!! I was thinking holy moly wow. I couldn't believe it. It was my mistake that I didn't ask for pricing, but I went ahead and got the pastries this time. Not sure if I'd go back again with the outrageous pricing. I understand inflation, but that's just ridiculous. In the end pastries were good, but pricing was a dealbreaker. Very disappointed that this bakery succumbed to the over inflated prices.

I would not have discovered this hidden gem of a bakery if not for the amazing review penned by my good friend Nikki B. So thank you Nikki for introducing me to this adorable neighborhood bakery! Union Bakery is small but they have an array of pastries and breads on display. I ordered a few different baked goods and was happy with my choices overall. Like my friend Nikki mentioned, the scones here are exceptional. The scone was filled with fresh cranberries and dusted with sugar on top. It had the perfect consistency, and wasn't too dry or heavy. As good as it was though, my favorite item was the strawberry cream cheese pastry, which was absolutely scrumptious warmed up. The cookie was pretty good too, and I enjoyed the raspberry compote filling. I wasn't much of a fan of their bread pudding though, as I felt it was too eggy and soggy. Overall, I enjoyed most of the treats I purchased that day. The baked goods here are a little pricey, understandably, due to the natural and high quality ingredients they use. So I will go back, no question, but only when I'm ready to splurge since I'm incapable of walking away with just one or two pastries. Haha.

Pumpkin pie and XL blueberry muffin. Delicious but $21 :/

Would be a regular customer if it was priced a little more reasonably. Delicious pastries. But more expensive than Urth Cafe

We've been around the country…read moreand the world and have had some truly world-class pastries, and CAR has a rightful place in that conversation. The quality of the ingredients and attention to detail are apparent in every bite and every sip. It is well worth the wait you'll most likely encounter. No matter how busy they are, the staff will greet you warmly--even coming out with umbrellas like they did for us when it was raining--and take the time to help you order, converse, and genuinely make you feel welcome. There are limited tables inside to enjoy your haul, but if you're lucky, a spot will open up and spare your car from the flaky goodness that will inevitably rain down all over your clothes and upholstery. Either way, it's worth it. CAR is exceptional.

Once we got to the counter everything was quick because they just pack everything up right away. I ordered the Spinach Feta Croissant ($8.40), Berry Danish ($6.95), and Turkey Ham & Gruyere Croissant ($8.50). The berry danish was cleared out at the front glass but I asked if they had more coming in the back and luckily they did. The other two were ordered from the glass displays. I wouldn't say they're the best croissants I've ever had, but they were still pretty good. Only thing with the ham and cheese croissant was that I cut it in half the short way to share (so you would think both halves would have an even distribution of everything) but all the ham was pushed to one side that their half literally had no ham in it. There were a lot of other things on display that looked really good so when I venture out to this part of town I'll have to come back and give those a try. I definitely recommend coming in early because a lot of things in the front displays were cleared out by the time we got to the front. They do keep making more but it's not a guarantee.

We were done about an hour before our reservation time. We hoped to be accommodated earlier but saw the long line and crowd waiting as we drove by. We decided to run a couple small errands instead. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation. It was still busy, but there were not as many people waiting. The hostess was so warm and welcoming. She let us know that the customers at our designated table were almost done and that they will have it ready in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, those customers decided to linger much longer. Thirty minutes later, they were still hanging around. We fully understood that this was not by any fault of the restaurant. We continued to wait patiently. The hostess was very apologetic and was trying to work out a solution which led to the Floor Manager (Karla) getting involved. We were eventually seated at another table, with the option to move should the other table become available. Karla then took the time to apologize for the wait and unfortunate first impression. As we got started with drinks and a pastry for the daughter, the other table opened. The hostess immediately came to move us. It all went smoothly from there. Table service was casual and attentive. We started with the Chocolate Almond Croissant and the Baguette & Bordier Butter. The daughter tried the Iced Matcha Latte. For our entrées -- Shakshuka, Patty Melt and Brioche Eggs Benedict (with salmon). I was eager to try the Potato Gravlax, but it was sold out. :( Everything was so, so delicious! Fresh and flavorful. Lovely presentations. Very good portions. As we were finishing, Karla came to our table again to express her gratitude for our patience and understanding. She gave me her business card with an offer to contact her directly should we need another reservation. On our way out, I stopped to compliment the sweet young hostess for a job well done. Wonderful experience. Beautiful decor. I would give Oh La La 10 stars if I could! We will most certainly be back!

While we missed out on the pastries, we each got to try their bread in our respective meals which were well buttered and toasted and had a nice crunchy outside and a soft chewy inside. My friend basically inhaled her croque monsieur, and I kept marveling at each element of my meal: cashew cheese with a salsa macha, a marinated wild mushroom, and an avocado for texture to put on my delicious toast. For lack of a better phrase, oh la la indeed to a great brunch spot.

Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

I ordered a matcha coco jasmine tea and I found that the jasmine flavor completely took over. The oolong peach crepe cake was yummy! It had little peach chunks throughout. The cafe itself was pretty small with 3 small tables, 1 big table, and bar seatings with charging ports. The bathroom was closed and it was really warm inside. I couldn't see myself studying or staying too long, which may be for the best since parking is tricky and street parking has a 2 hour limit. An okay experience, but I don't see myself coming back.
