Very disappointing. Just an ordinary dining place in a hotel. Firstly, contrary to what they say on their website, from the Valet to the receptionist desk, into the bar, then restaurant, we encountered only one waitress wearing a mask! None of the staff wore one? Very uncomfortable. The good news is we were very socially distanced in the restaurant as there were only 3 tables full (2 of which were very noisy bridal parties of course). The place was practically empty on a Friday night when Downtown was it's usual crazy, hopping place. The food: The duck arrived too rare on one plate. The gemelli pasta, 'Bolognese' was the most tasteless bolognese I've ever eaten anywhere. The cheese/beer bread was odd & dry at best, served with odder beef tallow which added nothing, & was impractical to apply to the 'bread.' The best: their charred brussel sprouts. read more

Would not return to this restaurant. This restaurant was sub par at every turn. While the restaurant itself is aesthetically pretty, it is hardly the ambience I would associate with a Friday night dinner spot, given there were at most 3 other tables being served while we were there. Despite being largely empty, we waited 20 minutes for a waiter to take our drink order and even that only happened after we flagged someone down to ask. We waited too long for drinks (some of which were incorrect) and when the appetizers arrived, the artichoke was so tough it was largely inedible and the meatball was entirely unseasoned. The onion rings were the only decent appetizer and that's not exactly a culinary feat. Our dinners were average but again took way too long to arrive. Despite these issues we still tipped 20% only to then realize the next day that gratuity was already included on our bill. While I understand that gratuity is often included in parties of 6 plus, we were never warned at any point in our dining experience. I have never had a waiter look me in the eyes after getting double tipped (over $200) and not say a word. I have since tried 4 times to contact the restaurant to express my disappointment and let them know that their waiters are making this their practice and no one has returned my call. I would never return to this restaurant. read more

Our dinner was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and I don't like Brussels sprouts. I got the stout braised short ribs and they were absolutely delicious!! My husband got steak frites and he enjoyed them. We also got a meat and cheese plate appetizer and a chocolate dessert, all delicious. I would definitely recommend it and return. I had to ASK the waitress at the end of the night to refill our water glasses, as she had not checked on our table once after taking our food order. There were times when we had ordered drinks and would see the waitress texting over by the computer to the side of the bar instead of putting in our order. My steak was perfectly cooked. My potatoes and asparagus were wonderful as well. My server, Chris, was friendly and helpful despite the VERY DIFFICULT table of ten he was serving who had nothing but insignificant complaints. The lobby cafe and rooftop bar were very cool. Great rooftop concept. The restaurant was mediocre. Thought we had gotten far enough away from Broadway to have better quality food. The roasted chicken was too dry. The appetizers were very good but very small portions. This is your typical downtown restaurant that providing average food with fancy presentations at fancy prices. Ughhhh, so disappointing!! What a GORGEOUS interior space. One of the most beautiful interiors in the city for sure. We were seated right away by the super friendly hostess. We were greeted immediately and placed a drink order. We then ordered an app-10-15 mins, still no drinks. (We ordered wine). App arrived and i immediately smelled "peanut sauce" just taking a piece of the Avo toast to put on my plate. I shouted at my friend DONT TOUCH IT--he has a life threatening peanut allergy. We could not get the waitresses attention so after a few mins he went up to her at the computer and asked. She says she "didn't know but would check with chef". We continued to watch her at the computer, then chat with the bartender, then with the hostess. Several minutes later she returned saying "we're not really sure it has nuts so I'll have them re make it safely". What do you mean? "Well they think the bread has seeds in it so....". Ok how about we just ordered something different??? We ordered the mussels. They came and not one minute later our entrees came, we asked to hold off so we could eat the app. 1/3 of the way in, we found a long piece of blue plastic in our mussels. WompWompppp. Another waitress came over at that time and seemed annoyed "are you ready for your entrees yet??" So we informed her we were done w the mussels and showed her the plastic. Her reply "well they must've eaten some plastic in the ocean hahahah, you want to finish them?" Umm, yeah, no ma'am. My salad was meh, but I'm dieting so-it's lettuce!! His croque m was delicious. Side note, when he asked our waitress how the burger was her reply was "AMAZING!!!! A 7!!!" (Insert confused face. Did she mean a 7/10 or 1/5 scale, bc a 7 is NOT amazing). The redeeming quality was we were clearly not charged for our apps but the Mgr who came by and apologized, took an additional $20 off. All I can say was it was absolutely amazing our waitress Samantha was great and we tried everything she recommended to us and all were yummy. The atmosphere was super fun and they had great vibes. 3 things I loved was the fact that Samantha listened to my fathers shellfish allergy and she wrote it all down (we noticed on the receipt), she was very helpful and accomadating, and she had a great attitude which is very important. 10 out of 10 I recommend this place. read more

Bad experience, won't return. Salmon under cooked. Filet was over cooked and tough and blah, and we mentioned it to the guy who brings out the food but he didn't really care. He was absolutely disengaged. Pork chop had tasty seasoning but was dry and not anything to write home about. The pepper appetizer lacked flavor. Waitress was friendly but MIA a lot and absolutely clueless about the menu. Her answer to all my questions was "I don't know." She didn't offer to find out the answer, she just didn't know. It became SO frustrating, I couldn't believe it. When paying $30/a meal, expect better. Ambience lacked music and any sort of vibe. So, I went to here recently with a big group at work. There were about 15 of us, but we called ahead and there weren't a lot of other people eating while we were there. They were out of toast, which is kind of odd, but not a big deal. Most of us ordered salads or sandwiches with minimal to no substitutions. They brought out two salads that didn't belong to anyone, forgot the salmon on one salad, and forgot 2 orders of fries. It took about 15 minutes for 10 people to get their food, but 5 of us kept waiting for some salads and a grilled cheese. It was honestly a little annoying, but not a huge deal. Just disorganized. We were told that an order of fries would be removed and something else would be removed from the check, but we ended up getting charged for all of it and an extra order of fries somehow. They were apologetic about this, but didn't do anything to rectify it. Also, our order was all on one check, which you think would make it easier. Overall, the food was pretty good, but the service could definitely be improved. read more

Had an unfortunate lunch experience at the Bobby today. I love the hotel, and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. But the service at Tavern is lacking, and the food is simply so-so. It took about 10 minutes before our waiter brought water carafes to our table. (My personal pet peeve because I'm pregnant.) Our group ordered pretty quickly, but then we waited a good 30+ minutes for our food - salads, soup, and sandwiches. The food arrived in spurts, and sadly, half of the meals were incorrect. One woman's order of grilled cheese was forgotten entirely, and then when it was finally delivered, it was incorrect. I'm sure she would have loved to eat it at that point, but given her dietary restrictions, she could not. Another salad was wrong and yet another salad that was supposed to have salmon filet on it did not. (The salmon then came in a plate on the side.) We also ended up being charged for an extra order of fries. We spent about an hour and half here, and a lot of money between the 12 of us. Poor service just isn't acceptable. I understand mistakes happen, especially with a larger group. But we were one of the only tables in the entire restaurant, and given the prices here, expected significantly better service and food. Comping at least the incorrect grilled cheese, offering a free drink, or gosh, even giving a heartfelt apology would have gone a long way. The Tavern At Bobby has much room for improvement. I cannot recommend anyone eat here, and I will not be back. read more

First no one came to greet us when they obviously saw several people standing at the restaurant desk. When we were finally told where to sit after several minutes, the waitress told me the menus on the patio and that of the main restaurant are the same. Then she told me I could not order pancakes because they dont serve the restaurant menu on weekends, there was no quiche, and basically no food although breakfast is until 2. This restaurant is inside the Bobby Hotel, which is beautiful, and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is straight to the back. We were seated in a booth and had a view of the entire restaurant, which is nicely decorated with good ambiance. We both had the steak frites, which were cooked to order. I did not care for the sauce that came with the fries, but I just ate the fries without it. We had the butterscotch pot de creme for dessert. I could have eaten a huge bowl of it; it was creamy and delicious. The service was impeccable. We will definitely be back. read more

Our experience at bobby's was unacceptable. The underwhelming fashion of the well lit igloo was quite warming at first. However, the cook decided to not be a team player. Then, he forgot to prep the Brie. After speaking with our waitress multiple times more than three, we asked to speak to the manager. We received a grade 2 bus boy who had absolutely no idea how to speak to humankind. After my future wife went and pressed the bartender, her name was revealed. Moral of the story... Jenga was fun, everything else was self provided. We would not recommend this place. read more

Challenging Reservation Process - Was looking forward to celebrating a colleague who accepted another position. Attempted to make a reservation for a group of 15 at lunch during a weekday. They system wouldn't accept a group that size. Called instead. The person who answered could not help and promised someone would call back. They did over 24 hours later. I was told for large groups they only do a set menu and that we would not be able to order individually from the menu. Maybe this is industry standard, but I have never had an experience like this. I wish them the best of luck, but I'm not inclined to try again. read more

The aesthetic of this place is great. Cool furniture and seating, but it was Sunday night and NO ONE was at this restaurant, but it took about 20 minutes for us to get water, and that was from a guy who wasn't our scheduled server. Finally she came over and took our orders. Then the waiting started. We waited for an hour for our food. She said one of the steaks had been over cooked so they were having to do another one. The manager did do us a solid by cooking a serving of "fried goat cheese", which was just spinach artichoke dip. Not to take away from it, because it was good, but just call it what it is, you hipsters. Luckily we were with good friends who we hadn't seen in quite a while so the extra time to visit was fine. Do I HAVE to give a star??? Where do I begin. My family arrived at T.A.B. Approximately 6:45. Our waitress came over , took our drink order, and left us to look over the menu. Let me start by saying the restaurant was not what I expected. Being from New York , this was not like any Tavern I'd been in. It was a very sharp looking restaurant and not the menu I was expecting. When the waitress brought my wife's $12 glass of wine ,my $7 Corona and my kids water we placed our order. And the wait began... 7:00pm came and we watched the waitresses running around taking orders, delivering food and drinks, in and out of the kitchen. Where is all the help we wondered? No busboys? Maybe that explains why the hostess who sat us also poured our water?Hmmm....7:05 and our waitress hasn't comeback to our table and we're hungry. Our kids are going to the CMA concert so we're pressed for time. We flag down our waitress to ask for bread. She says no problem ,I'll put the order in... 7:15 and still no bread. Our waitress passes our table a half dozen times and doesn't look at us let alone say anything. Finally, my wife who is getting very irritated stops her and asks if she forgot about the bread. She says no , it's being made. Huh? Oh well, I guess they make it fresh. Must be some real good bread!!.. 7:25 and our waitress stops by the table to ask my wife if she'd like another $12 glass of wine, to which she replies no but I'D LOVE A PIECE OF BREAD!! Our waitress says she'll check on the bread but the kitchen is TOTAL CHAOS! My wife asks if there are any busboys working, since it appears the waitress's are running around doing everything. She says no , they are a little short. Okay... 7:30 and after 45 minutes, Lo and behold , BREAD!!! It's basically sliced Italian bread that's been toasted. No butter, no olive oil, just toast! We look at each other stunned. After a few more minutes she comes back smiling... "BUTTER" she says! I then throw $20 on the table to pay for my drinks ... GOODBYE I say!!! read more

Breakfast at Tavern At Bobby: Over a period of 4 months, we had breakfast each weekend (sometimes twice a weekend) and expected the dismal service to improve. It didn't. Speaking with the Food & Beverage Manager did nothing. He asked for my cell number and never followed up. Wait staff seem ill-trained and are consistently slow. Toast with breakfast is prepared outside the kitchen (who does that?) and not once was it delivered simultaneously with the meal. The breakfast crowd is woefully small--so it isn't that they're too busy. read more

We waited at least 40 minutes for our food to come out, and when it did more than half the orders were incorrect, one of them was delivered incorrect several times (everyone was finished with their meals by the time she had anything arrive that she could eat because of dietary restrictions). No one apologized to us for all the errors or the delay and did not even offer to remove even that one girl's meal off the bill to make up for the terrible service. He did say he would comp one side of fries that took an extra 15-20 minutes to come out, but forgot, so we ended up paying for it anyway. Overall a very poor experience with so-so food. Will not be back for lunch anytime soon and will stick the the cocktail bar upstairs. read more

My husband and I came here for my birthday on June 4th and it was just meh! Our favorite restaurant is closed on Mondays and we always forget. We thought we would branch out and try something new, also a dear friend recommended that we go here. For a Monday night at 6:30pm, the place was pretty empty, I guess because it was a Monday and we were in a hotel? We started with drinks and charcuterie which is our fav! The drinks were tasty. Then we decided to order some small plates which were so-so, nothing super good, then we ordered an entree to share, more drinks and dessert. The food was just meh but the decor and atmosphere was pretty cool. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. We were looking for a wow, really good food experience and it just didn't happen! For the price, which was not cheap, I recommend going somewhere else. We don't mind paying good money for good food, this just didn't do it for us. Hope they get better. read more
