The United Club at PHL is not United's best effort. It occupied a small space, and they don't seem to make the most of it. At 11:30 a.m., the lunch items had just been put out and they seemed quite meager. They were a subset of what was being served in San Diego later that day (I stopped into the club upon landing). Here's an example, aside from a smaller food selection, of the differences between the two clubs: PHL used maraschino cherries in their drinks, SAN used Luxardo. This is one of my least favorite United Clubs, but at least it's here when we fly United from/to PHL. Located between Terminals D and C, the Club hasn't changed much in 30 years, save for a fresh coat of paint and upgraded furniture. Food service is quite limited. Bartender today was young and inexperienced. Agents at the front desk are excellent. Service is very good in the Club. Bottom line, at least this Club is here ... and the view of the gate area aircraft is great. read more

Yes, this is one of the smaller Clubs that I've been to over the years however, it is very quaint with the overall interior being maintained (ie. seats are not worn with tears). Observing the staff here on a Thursday morning they all seemed happy and accommodating front the people with Anne Marie who I engaged in banter conversation who works at the front desk to the various workers who are maintaining the food and public areas. It was nice that besides the usual scramble egg patty with cheese, they also had an egg salad on a croissant as an offering which was very fresh and tasty. My only comment was and I know the front desk staff hears this all the time is that this club is hard to find. Larger signage outside and in front of the Club would be a step up and I joked with Anne Marie as to how many times in a day does she hear this comment from people visiting this Club - LOL read more

You know... I almost went four stars on this place. ‍ It must be one of the smallest lounges in the entire UA system, but it's still a quiet respite from a typically noisy and crowded airport. And to be fair, United doesn't have THAT many flights out of PHL. They've upped the food game in recent years, often featuring some variation that's meant to resemble a Philly Cheesesteak. There's a full bar, and usually enough space to plug in and get some work done. One of the ladies working the front desk has been there for years!! Like... pre COVID!! She's always friendly, and seems to recognize me, even if she's just being kind. So it's pretty basic, but I'm glad we have a United Club at all. Thanks for that, United! read more

Great experience at the Philadelphia airport lounge. Not very big but the workers were working hard to keep it clean and stocked with delicious buffet items. The man at the desk was so helpful finding my pass. The bartender made sure to talk to two men at the bar who were a little loud and swearing. They kept the atmosphere quiet and pleasant. Overall, I was impressed. It was a wonderful space to relax, do a little work while I waited for my flight. Will definitely go again the next time I'm in Philly. read more

Good food selection! Meatballs, wraps, and sandwich. Salads along with a lot of extras like seeds, croutons, cucumbers, kimchee and more. Cheddar soup too. I don't drink alcohol so make it up in food consumption. Loved the gummy bears too. Quiet on a Tues night. Had a small bar, like what you'd find in your friend's parent's 90s basement. I've been a lounge member for about 10 years and this was my first time using the United lounge in Philadelphia, but we quickly left to one of the nearby eateries which offered better cleanliness and comfort. No space whatsoever, crammed cafeteria style plastic chairs that are so close you bump knees with your neighbors. The paint is peeling, the food bar was sparse and filthy, and the carpet stained. I stopped in at breakfast time and it offers a good variety. It would be unrealistic to expect a big spread for a small club. The club was clean and well laid out. No complaints. For a United lounge this is definitely subpar. The space really limits the lounge as it is old and needs updating badly. The food selection for breakfast is generic muffins, fruit, coffee, tea, and yogurt. There were no plates available while I was here. The check in desk staff was nice and friendly. The bathrooms were clean. The lounge is adequate but not nearly as nice as other United lounges I have seen. Note: information says this lounge is located in C. The map says it's in D. This was my first visit to this particular United Club and I love the reference Michael W. made " it felt like a library" because that's exactly what I thought during the few hours I spent here waiting on my flight to Chicago. It's the perfect location to relax or to catch up on some work between flights, if you are flying out of Terminal D or Terminal E. It's a smaller club but the lay out was nice and efficient and it wasn't very crowded I'd say there were less than 10 people here at any given time during my visit including myself and my guest, the accommodations are on par with larger United Clubs around the country just scaled down. The staff was very friendly and the club's interior was immaculate very very clean. The main seating area is to the left and bar area is partitioned off to the right both spaces were furnished with what looked to be recently updated furnishings. I did like the way they incorporated lots of natural light in the refreshment bar area although small in comparison the design was well thought out and they made excellent use of the space available. Considering the options here this is about as good as it gets I love the fact that within a few minutes of walking you can be at any gate located in Terminal D or E. If I had any negative comment it's the coffee machine, it has issues and needs to be looked at it just doesn't provide a quality cup of anything.... read more

Very poor customer services I have been encountered with United Club Lounge. Now I know why this place is rated so low from the previous viewers. The staff in the front desk was rude, no patient, and not willing to help. She thinks she knows everything about my United Club membership status, even she was so wrong. She has ALL wrong information about my status, but she was not able to listen to the customer. While I was explaining to her, she even said "have a nice day" to end our conversation. This diminutive United Club has a bad rap because it's tiny. The size makes sense to me because United has only a limited presence in Philadelphia. Let's look on the bright side: At BWI, there's no United Club whatsoever. At DET, United customers are directed to the Lufthansa lounge -- which is almost never open and refuses to admit incoming United customers who have just gotten off a plane. The United Club situation at PHL is a lot better than at those two airports. I stopped in to this Club for 90 minutes while on my way to SFO. Hey, it was fine! The snack selection was adequate; outlets abounded. There were even restrooms. (You won't find any at the EWR "pop-op" United Clubs.) The bar area at this United Club seemed to be an especially happening place. Perhaps unwisely, I didn't bother to stop in for a drink during my recent visit. Odds are that I'll rectify this mistake the next time around. I found the personnel at this location to be friendly, respectful and helpful. When it became apparent that a flight to Denver was going to be delayed because of a flight crew scramble, the staff members walked through the Club to explain the situation to passengers. read more

It's better than nothing, but not by much. After having given up on club memberships years ago, I decided to try again in 2019. Having hit 1k once again, I spend quite a bit of time on the road and figured it would be a nice perk for myself. Unfortunately, I will not be renewing my membership; as this club is a perfect reason why: It's small, has no edible food and cramped! Food: Breakfast selection: mini muffins and oatmeal. Lunch/Dinner: Soup! Yep, just frigging soup! Other similar closet sized clubs have similar setups: Soup, brownies, mini salad, pita and spread. So if you think joining a club will save you $ from spending on breakfast or meals: NOPE! There is one Illy machine and those knock out decent lattes, but I would rather just drop $10 on a pastry and latte @ Starbucks, instead of dealing with 3 3oz cups from here. United invest $ in some of these clubs. These are not free, so if you charge $, better be competitive. I prefer to use my AMEX for Centurion lounge access, where available and Priority Pass in some Int'l lounges when flying through large airports. read more

Great place to kill some time. It's a bit hard to find off of concourse D and has a secret club feel with a door bell. The check in was so friendly. We were invited to get comfy and she find us to return my card and boarding pass. There was a yummy chicken tortilla soup spiked with tequila with cilantro, lime wedges and crispy tortilla strips. The first time I walked into the Philly Red Carpet Club I thought I had been PUNKED. I had to have been in diapers when they opened this location. Think your gramma's house in the 70's. The only thing that is missing is the plastic covering on the couch's. The one redeeming quality of the joint was the bartender who had been there for decades. Wish I could remember his name. He passed away around Christmas time last year. He was a hoot to talk to. Loved betting on the horses and talked about his daughter all the time. He even remembered my name because I go there so often. One of the strangest things they do there is put out chips and salsa. By the end of the day, that salsa is looking pretty aweful. This is an ok United Club, but very small. I luckily managed to snag a seat in the corner of the bar. Service was friendly, but this lounge must get very very busy when flights are delayed or there are a lot of international flights. Overall ok, but it might be tough to spend a long layover here if it's super packed. read more

This club is a little tricky to find between C and D concourses. Skip the moving walkway and perambulate halfway down the hallway on your right. It's a tiny place with limited table seating near the food service galley. By comparison to Chicago, this UC is spartan. Would be nice to have serious protein in the breakfast, at least some eggs. Plenty of fruit, croissants, cereals, and hot drinks. read more

The customer service is what gives this United Club a boost. The food/beverage attendants are very attentive and United representatives at the front have been helpful numerous times. United Airlines and the Red Carpet Club have been my preferred airline and airport getaway for as long as I remember. The annual cost of Red Carpet Club membership is definitely worth it considering the amenities it offers and its ability to provide a relaxed environment. I've been to most of them and this has to be the worst by any measure. During my visit, the restroom within was under construction, so I had to use an outside one which was just across the hall from the entrance to the club. This was not a bad thing considering they are renovating the club restroom. When traveling to my destination, the club was closed with a sign stating that the ventilation system was out of order. Found this to be quite strange, maybe it was related to the restroom being renovated. On my way back, the club was accessible, but I was very disappointed with its size, comfort and amenities. As an example, most clubs offer glassware for their drinks and snacks. Not here, everything was plastic or foam and the snacks were very limited. The whole place feels like a large walk-in closet, very stuffy and definitely not relaxing as I have experienced at the others. The only decent thing here was the staff, who was very polite and attempted to compensate for the subpar amenities with acknowledgement of the obvious deficiencies. The only reason I come here is because of its existance and I already have a membership, so it's free to enter and grab a free drink and snack. read more

In the spirit of Philadelphia and their airport, this place sucks. Located on the subfloor to the moving walkway down concourse D in what appears to be a renovated broom closet is the most disappointing United Club I've ever been in. It's dirty, but you'll feel at home sitting in your grandpa's smoking chair from the 1920's. Oh, and don't try to bring in soup or any other outside food. You'll be asked to eat it outside, next to the moving walkway that has a non-stop repeating message about holding onto the handrail, watching your children, and standing on the right or walking on the left. The ambiance really can't get much better than that. Because by no means are people who fly all over the world adults with cohabitation skills and ability to eat food they've purchased elsewhere without destroying the entire room, but by all means get free alcohol and yogurt pretzels, because who are we kidding with this carpet anyways? I would absolutely not be here if I had to pay to be in here. The only upside is there is guaranteed room and a free outlet to use. read more

This club is staffed by racist personnel. At approximately 3:06pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, I was exiting the United Club, which was too crowded. On the way out, I stopped at a bowl of candy that had been put at the front door for Halloween. I had spent less than 15 seconds fishing for candy that I could actually eat (i.e., without nuts), when the woman at the counter--a blond, 50-ish white woman with a wrinkled, pasty complexion--said very rudely to me, "Just take one candy." I told her that this was unacceptably rude - particularly as there was no one coming in, and therefore I was not blocking anyone at all. "You have no right to treat me like a child," I said. (I am a middle-aged Asian woman in professional attire.) She claimed she wasn't treating me like a child. But of course she was, and she had absolutely no right to talk to me in that kind of condescending manner. I told her that she was being rude but she refused to apologize. I am certain she would not have been so rude and condescending had I been a white person rather than an Asian woman. I have encountered similar rudeness toward Asian women at the United Club in Newark, terminal A. Perhaps United should have a diversity + courtesy training program for their staff. Particularly since this same blond woman keeps getting mentioned negatively in all these Yelp reviews, particularly from Asians. read more

This lounge exemplifies the reason United gets busted for dragging people off its planes and busting up guitars. If you fly United there isn't really another option - just be warned and live with the rudeness. Hey Avoid the older woman with the blonde hair at the front desk. She is mentioned in other posts and apparently operates with impunity. Once inside you will find the facilities ok, the employees sullen, and the snacks odd, incomplete, and avoidable. It is still a worthwhile respite from the airport terminal. The company must have more rules in it handbook(s) than the US tax code, and this lounge demonstrates how employees use these rules not to deal with people fairly, but to avoid dealing with people at all. My crime ? Not being able to find my lounge membership card in the app on my iPhone. (I had my number, just not my physical card, and couldn't navigate to the correct location in the app. The front desk refused to show me where it was in the app even after insisting it was "in there somewhere.", after first trying to get me to leave. When the guy at the front desk suggested a workaround, the older woman shut him down. read more

Now, the former President's Clubs in Houston and Newark are significantly nicer than former Red Carpet Clubs. The Philly outpost of the United Club is dingy, small, and the bathrooms are really of low quality. It's convenient to United gates, but if you have a decent length of time I'd truck on over to the B/C gates US Airways club which is much, much nicer. You can access it for free with a United Club membership. My main complaint with this club, though a complaint common to all clubs, is the internet speeds. There are exactly three people in this club now, but my download is crawling. Yes, I'd really like to get that iTunes movie in time for the ~ six hour flight, but it's not going to happen and so I'm going to have to do work instead. I will be grumpy. read more

I guess I'm not a Red Carpet kind of guy because unless it is very early or very late, I prefer just to sit with everyone else, plug in and drift away. However, on those other occasions when travel and torture seem to become confused, even a less than optimal airport "club" can be the difference between tolerable abuse and downright grouchiness. A free drink (or two), a passable snack, and a comfortable chair, can feel like an oasis in the desert. Although PHL's United lounge is subpar, it can still save the day. The staff overcompensates because they know what we are all dealing with. Just wish they brought it some genuine cheesesteaks and Yingling to remind us of what can be so redeeming about Philly. read more

I ended up spending a good 5 hours here this past Sunday when my flight kept getting delayed. It's definitely smaller than any other club I've been to. It was kind of annoying to find - the signs were not as obvious as other airports, but you finally come across a door in the middle of the hallway that will take you from Terminal D to Terminal A. I was there on a Sunday, so it was extremely crowded, but I had no trouble finding a seat on a comfy couch, next to a few outlets (they're everywhere)... and didn't feel like I didn't have any space. Like I said, the place is pretty small and, going along with the other reviews, could definitely use an update. But, it's still a nice place to escape being at the gate with your entire flight for (what ended up being) a 5 hour delay. Food is standard United Club food - trail mix, crackers, cheese, fruit, cookies, etc. The staff consisted of Angela at the front desk and Meredith in the bar. They were both ridiculously friendly and hardworking. I kept going to the bar and if Meredith wasn't there, she would be out refilling water or food - not just sitting around doing anything (apparently she used to be full time and now has another job and only works once in a while- so if you're there when she is - you lucked out!) Angela was great to everyone there (literally every flight was experiencing delays due to the crazy rain Philly experienced that Sunday. She would check on flights and tell you when to come back up so she could give you more accurate (and better than the app) updates - like whether the incoming plane had even boarded where they were coming from (to give you a more legit update on whether they were actually coming that time....) Last call was at 7:30, which was understandable as they usually close around 8, but the actual club stayed open until around 10pm that night (until the last incoming flight lands), which was really nice since we were all delayed. The free wifi was actually pretty fast and I was able to stream some shows and get some work done without any issue. Overall, this ended up being a really great club - despite the need for some updating and maybe expansion - with a great staff. read more

The fat white dude at the front desk might be the rudest person I have ever dealt with. If you're an Alaska Air Boardroom member- beware- these people are not familiar with the rules and will probably deny you entry- despite this being on the list of lounges you are allowed to visit. Don't even bother. Try visiting the American Airlines lounge instead. The people are nicer and it's way bigger and less crowded. read more
