I am finally getting things to the point where I'm close to being happy with what I have, and Universal Car Stereo helped me put in one of the finishing touches. They quoted me quickly and fairly, were professional and knowledgeable, kept me up to date about progress, and plain took care of business. I will say that I was quoted about 2.5 hours and they took 7. However, I wasn't in a hurry and didn't need my car. If you're in a time crunch, you may want to plan for it. This spot is a gem. I found it on yelp when I was checking multiple stereo shops for quotes to install a new head unit in my BMW. This place has the best price and availability. First impression: the parking lot is difficult to maneuver. Once you get past this obstacle you can proceed to enter the stereo shop. This place is busy so don't be surprised if there are customers in front of you. The line moves pretty quick though. The store owner Jordan greeted me soon enough and I told him what I wanted. He quoted me less than the other shops and made the time to work on it days sooner than anyone else. He also suggested upgrades to fully utilize the system I wanted to go with. In the end, I got my nice new head unit with Bluetooth, steering wheel controls, USB and aux in the glove box, back up camera, sd card memory & DVD bypass so I can watch dvds while driving (not that I would do that ;) Really glad to have my older car have all the technology of a new car. Found this shop on Yelp and so grateful I did. My toddler stuck some coins in my DVD player and when I took it to the GMC dealership they told me I would need to purchase a new DVD player and then get it installed, which would have cost me over $1,000. I said no thank you, yelped this shop and luckily found they could just take the coins out for me and install my (not broken) stereo back without an issue. Mikey was the tech who helped me out and he was super fast. Everything took a little over an hour which was incredibly fast considering my car required them to take the entire front dash apart to access the stereo area. The dealership took close to 4 hours. Jordan brother was there to help. Jordan called his brother and told him about me 20 mins after the fact lol. Which helped me out but barely!. They wanted 350 to pop in some 280w kicker speakers (all 4 fyi), no wiring needed. They wouldnt be able to start my car until noon, told him if i wait till noon i can get 300w speakers popped in for 175 POSSIBLY, let me think about it.. (nothing is guaranteed for me with either option as of now).. he was still bothering me about what i was trying to figure out lol ... i then took the initiative to just show and prove what factors i was considering and the options i have (vulnerability)... when i proved to him what i was working with, he dropped the price to 300... now thats a decent price! By the way, first time here. ... HE WAS STILL IN MY FACE AS TO WHY I WAS PONDERING ON MY DECISION... i went to try and explain one more time and he started talking over me and then i told him he wasnt listening and we both were just like w/e and went our separate ways... i was frustrated, he was like was more like f u basically, so then im just like im freaking outta here ... long short, i went back to my other guy at car stereo master in whittier, dropped off my car and everything worked out! I'd avoid this place at all costs. Scheduled an appointment with Jordan (owner/manager) for an installation 4 days ahead. He gives me a date/time first thing in the morning to come in and leave the car due to the length of the job and how busy his schedule is. The day prior to the appointment, I even call to CONFIRM the appointment. So as I arrive on my appointment date the following day, the garage is closed and the business is not even open! It's 9:30AM! The sign on your door says you open at 9:00AM.... Now I've wasted my time (and money calling off work) because of this. Complete lack of professionalism! read more

Went in at first and wasn't happy with the module and Bluetooth they had to offer but they said it was no issue because they will happily install any module I bring in.
