The estimate was free, which I really appreciate since they took their own time out of their busy schedule to come to my location just to check it out. They ended up being the most affordable and were much more knowledgeable than the other two companies I called. We signed a contract to start in October when we refinance our home. I also recommended them to my dad. Just recently he had a plumping emergency and gave Universal Plumbing a call. I called Angel today around 10:30 in the morning after we experienced an emergency at home. A pipe of some sort seemed to have burst in our upstairs bathroom (under spa tub), and had drenched our downstairs family and living room. Hot, steaming water was literally cascading from the ceiling and into the walls. What impressed me most was that Angel answered the phone directly; there was no voicemail; no service. I was talking to the man himself. Even though I was tripping over my own words (I was in shock by the whole event), he remained calm and professional at all times. He informed me that he would be able to come in about 1-2 hours. Sure enough, at around 12:30, he arrived at the house (he even called to let me know he would arrive in about 15-20 min). Angel (and his uncle) where at the house all day - from 12:30 till about 7:30pm at night, with the only time away to get needed materials. He was considerate, thoughtful, and reasonable with regard to the problem. Rather than destroying my bathroom, he found a novel way of reaching the piping, and corrected the blown valve. He was also very knowledgeable and respectful of the whole home owners insurance process I would be going through and made sure to photograph the damage. I definitely hope we never have to encounter such an emergency again. The silver lining in all this, however, is that I have found a plumber for life. No matter what job, big or small, I can promise you that I will always be calling Angel back. He gets my whole hearted endorsement (and I can be a picky bast*rd)! read more

Had a clogged sink/garbage disposal last week and called Universal plumbing. They came and fixed it (in the time window that they had given us, always appreciated). i don't remember the names of the 2 guys but they were nice and got the job done, took the pipes out, took the time to show me exactly what happened and why, and left the kitchen as clean as they had found it. And the price of the intervention was reasonable, so absolutely no complains. The big cherry on top is that our garbage disposal acted up again over the weekend, not clogged but the blades weren't turning... We called universal plumbing and they agreed to come check it out for free, even though there's no way to tell whether the two issues were related or not. So Angel came today and took it apart, got it running again and offered some advice. He was great and we really really appreciate the amazing quality of service! After recently moving to Hollywood in a new home, I began experiencing a myriad of plumbing issues from the previous owner. I was referred to 7 different plumbing companies that came to my home. I quickly learned that in LA, a good plumber is hard to find much like an auto mechanic. Each of the 7 companies lacked integrity, work ethic, professionalism, and sometimes overall knowledge. Then I finally turned to Yelp and found Universal Plumbing and all of their stellar reviews. After using Universal now 5 times in two months, I couldn't be happier and finally found a plumbing company that I can trust. Their service and workmanship was absolutely consistent with all of the positive reviews on Yelp. What I like most about them is that they are a family run business and provide a higher level of care and service than large franchise plumbing entities. It's always extremely easy to make an appointment with them, and they always text you or call you to let you know where they are in their schedule so that you don't waste time waiting at home unlike other companies that provide a large window but you never know when they will actually show up. Each of the five plumbers that have shown up to my home have all been related and you can tell that they have put in the time and effort in continuing education as everyone has been extremely technical and proficient. I have had hot water heater issues, toilet leaks, toilet replacements, leaks in multiple sinks, and all have been rectified and rather easily by Universal Plumbing. Not only do they show up on time, but their demeanor is always pleasant, and they always treat you like you are their only client for the day, and that they have nothing but time for you. Along with being extremely patient, you learn quite a bit watching them work, as they are always quick to educate you on what exactly it is that they are doing, and furthermore, what potential maintenance needs to be performed and also potential issues that may exist in the future to keep an eye on. After the work is completed, they also really take the time to clean up and do so properly which is nice, because I often have to clean up after service vendors because they are usually in a hurry to go on to the next job. The best of the company is Angel, who is hands down an expert in his field. This man has a real passion for the industry and it shows in his attitude and how he goes about his business. I've learned quite a bit watching him work, and he is brought me up to speed on some key issues that need monitoring moving forward. You can really tell that he sets the tone for the high level of quality and service orientation at Universal. I've was extremely fortunate to find them on Yelp and the number of quality reviews really tell the tale. They go above and beyond, and often have great money saving tips along the way. The guys from Universal just came out to handle a drain cleaning at my place. They were there very quickly after my call and handled the job just as fast. The best part was the care and attention to detail. They were careful the entire time and you'd never know they were there. My story is, that I called Mike Diamond and they gave me a quote of 1,57.97 for a simple job of sealing the a leaky kitchen facet and dripping washer valve I was told I had to replace the facet by Mike Diamond and all kinds of crap that was not needed, so I said goodbye to them and took to yelp to find Universal Plumbers Co. that had excellent reviews so I gave them a shot and asked if they service the Whittier area, I was told yes, so I was very excited. A Plumber Tech named Eli came out next day and he was courteous, very honest. He said all he had to do was seal the facet and he just tightened the washer valve. Simple. My husband and I recently purchased a home and found out during the sewer inspection that we had quite a bit of root growth into our pipes. BUYER BEWARE. I asked for a quote on a hot water tank replacement. The original quote was very reasonable. After asking several questions and waiting an absorbently long time for someone to get back to me The original quote went up $350. When I finally got a chance to talk to Angel(supervisor) and ask him about the additional charges he hung up on me. I'm assuming they don't want questions from customers. I did put a request in to speak to Angels boss but never got a return call which resulted in this unfavorable review. Angel is lying! I did not hang up on him and asked to speak to a higher official upon calling back after he hung up on me. No one ever return my call. He states that the company gIves great prices and that's why it took him five hours to get back to me, however he has plenty of time to scrutinize all reviews from his company. Long story short I found a license plumber today they did the job for $100 less then his Perpetually increasing prices. In addition no one offered me a free estimation. What Angela saying makes no sense. I had no hot water and needed the job done. Why would I not provide all information knowing that when the plumber does show up he could potentially change the price. read more

I had called on a Wednesday morning and the secretary had made an appointment for me that following Friday. Once they got to my house, I explained to them that I needed my kitchen faucet replaced. I was very pleased with the same service I received with this company.. it started as simple as putting a service request on their website to receiving a phone call to having someone at our place in less then 20 minutes from phone call to our residence. We've been having some hot water issues, first starting with my back home then to the front residence... I would have never thought it was a gas issue..we've just renovated our new residence before we moved in and the current stove needed to be replace.. okay , not an issue we'll replace it. Not knowing that turning off the gas would affect the front house water pilot. I was told that our water heater is connected to the main house water heater ( weird right) So when we turned off the gas, and our water heater, the gas line that connects the back house to the main front house turned off as well. Seems really complicated right? It however was as easy as putting a cap on our gas line so we could turn the gas back on and within a few minutes the main house water heater pilot light lit up and they had there hot water back, they suggested we get a new water heater for the back house as well.. which we will since it still has a good year or two left. I couldn't have been more please with the experience and most importantly I learned something new. I will definitely call them back again if i have any other plumbing issues. read more

By far the best experience I've ever had with a plumbing company...! They just installed a Rennai tankless water heater for us, and these guys were true professionals! Their teamwork is like a piece of art, and the installation of the new heater is beautifully done. I loved speaking with Ester, who was helpful and pleasant on the phone, and Angel, Chicho, Angel's dad, and two other guys I forgot to get their names- they are all great folks. I was very impressed by the professionalism that was demonstrated by Universal Plumbing during my initial phone call. I called several companies before booking with Universal and no one was as impressive as they were. The gentleman that assisted me knew more about my problem than anyone else I had spoken too all day! Once Universal came out to my property Mike and Gustavo maintained the 5 start service the whole visit. Although they worked outside the entire time, they kept their work area very clean and organized. After installing all the earthquakes shut off valves, they went into each and everyone of my tenant's units and made sure they had hot water, a working stove and a working heater for the upcoming cold winter nights. Came home to a leak in the laundry area above my dryer. I didn't realize how hard it would be to get a plummer same day. I must have called 15 plumbers and then called Universal. Ruben and Leonardo were able to stop by within two hours to fix the leak. It was a lot of work since they had to move my large stacked washer and dryer out of the small laundry space before they could get to the pipe that was leaking. They saved my day!! read more
