They asked me to come back in the morning, I simply stated aren't you guys open for 35 more minutes, from then on an attitude. WOW - I called yesterday morning and was told I can come in and get a covid test for me and my family. When I arrived they handed us 3 forms of paper to fill out even though we have been there three times previously. After being there and filling out the paper work and giving them my insurance cards they tell me they don't accept Gemcare(BlueShield) any more... I didn't see any signs on the door nor the walk up window. I called Accelerated Urgent Care on Olive drive. They immediately asked what insurance we had before telling us we can come in. Maybe, just maybe Universal Urgent Care can start doing the same thing.. To me, as soon as we walked in at 4p they all had this UGH face like they had to work or something... Went to the Brimhall location to avoid the experience of the Ming location where the Dr was being reserved about getting close to my children and properly diagnosing their conditions. To my surprise, the same Dr was at this location and again offered no proper diagnosis. Come to find out she is an NP and has a fear of catching something, so she keeps a distance instead of getting up close and personal. There's a reason why PPE is available. If she has a fear of catching something, then she chose the wrong career path. F.Y.I., I can't speak for the other Dr's/NP's. read more

My husband and I have both gone here with colds. Both of us have no history of high blood pressure but had slightly elevated numbers due to being sick. In both instances, the healthcare provider tried to prescribe long-term blood pressure meds without knowing anything about our history or doing further testing. This has happened to a friend of ours too. Why are they pushing blood pressure meds on people? Definitely not going back and we'll be reporting them to the state board of medicine. read more

Super unorganized. Lost my paperwork. Dr was rude and abrupt. Almost jeopardized my emergent surgery. Had people training who weren't sure of the processes and procedures. After a 3 hour pre arranged appointment i had to go back again after they lost my paperwork and still had issues the second time around. read more

First time coming to this urgent care since it is one of the few my new insurance takes. I came in at 9 am let the receptionist know I was new patient, gave her my if and insurance card. I was expecting new patient paperwork to fill out but not for a hour and a half before she called me up to pay my copay and give me the new patient paperwork to fill out. Now let me tell you when i originally walked in there were 2 people here. So not busy at all. No one came out of the back either the entire time I am sitting there waiting. So now I fill out the paperwork give it to the receptionist who is definitely not thrilled to be at work. I sit down and get called back almost immediately. Go in back for vitals and doctor comes in fast looks around in my mouth and says she will give me an antibiotic for a week. Then i am back in the waiting room waiting another 20 mins to get my prescription. So glad I can go home and rest now. read more

Awful, the doctor here didn't stay in the room for 2 minutes, literally had one foot out the door, AND misdiagnosed my girlfriend because he didn't know what he was doing. We waited 6 hours in an ER 2 days after he prescribed her flu meds because my girlfriend was getting worse. Maybe someone should have taught this guy flu and pneumonia symptoms are extremely similar. 1 xray and the ER doctor was like "yeah here's the right meds". I get that miss diagnosis happen but honestly if this guy spent a little more time and listened to all of the symptoms he would've cracked this the first time. We will not be going back for our own safety. read more

This place is Horrible! Took our daughter in for a UTI, which she has frequently do to potty training. We didn't have insurance at the time so we paid cash. The doctor told us her kidneys were failing and needed to take her to ER right away. Long story short their machine was wrong, and we tormented our daughter going to the ER for a simple UTI!?! To top it off we got stuck with a $5,000.00 bill from the ER. We contacted Universal numerous times about them being responsible for the bill cause of their faulty equipment, and just get ignored. As I'm sitting in the waiting room I'm doing this review. The lack of communication with the patients is a joke. It's been almost 3 hours and Not even a "hey sorry we're running behind ". The girl at the front desk has been sitting at her computer the entire time we've been here. I waited about an hour and a half for a covid test outside. I finally decided to call them because I thought they forgot about me. Apparently the power went out and they didn't even have the courtesy to let us know. We finally got the test done and went inside the building. There has been absolutely no movement since we got inside. One other person ahead of us finally got called in after about an hour. I have wasted 3 hours here already and I'm not about to go waste another 3 hours somewhere else. Whoever is running this facility needs to do better with communication. Worst urgent care ever, highly recommended going somewhere else. read more

Worse experience. The receptionist was rude and never smiled. I went in for one medical concern and the PA (Billiana Hardy) referred my issue to something else that was completely unrelated. I don't know if she was tired or just simply a rude person but she didn't do a thorough job of checking when I clearly saw what she supposedly said I didn't have. And no matter how many times I asked, she "think" a simple antibiotic will help. I was misdiagnosed and they're billing my insurance something they didn't do. She was also very rude to me and began criticizing my life. She was talking so fast it sounded like she was mumbling. I had to keep asking her to repeat. I'm sure the other doctors are better but this person doesn't know what she's talking about. I noticed from experience that PAs are not always right or caring. I would rather go to ER or specialist to get a correct diagnosis and get proper treatment. read more

Very disappointing. My wife injured knee & was seen by a mid-level provider who barely examined her knee. We were told the X-Ray tech had already left for the day & we would have to come back in the morning. Very few instructions given & only when we asked. No discharge paperwork. No empathy. No sense of humor. Left with script for Ibuprofen. Only helpful thing done was a NSAID shot given. Oh yes, and an ace bandage when we asked about knee brace. Will never go here at. read more

I always have the worst experiences here! If you want to make an appointment with Dr. Patel, I recommend you don't. The reason this place is getting 1 star (way too generous in my opinion) but when you call for a certain doctor the nurses have no idea where they are because there's 3 locations! So have fun going on a goose chase just to make an appointment also the nurses will give attitude over the phone if you ask the wrong question or make a mistake. The whole reason for me making this post is because Dr. Patel has told me that there's nothing wrong with my knee even after x-rays and MRI's but tell me this... WHY DOES MY KNEE POP? WHY CAN'T I WALK ON IT WITHOUT WANTING TO BURST INTO TEARS? WHY DO I HAVE SHOOTING PAIN WHEN I WALK OR STAND FOR TOO LONG? HUH?!? I honestly think these "Doctors" have no fucking clue what they're doing and what they're talking about. I needed to get some disability papers signed for months and I finally got them signed today after being given attitude from Dr. Patel. I haven't been able to work since the end of May so I filed for disability because my job told me I needed to in order to get paid for when I wouldn't be working. Well come to find out Dr Patel thinks I didn't deserve to have my disability papers signed because as he kept saying "There's nothing wrong with". He and the other doctors I've seen in this facility have no idea what they're talking about and should never have gotten a license to be doctors or nurse practitioners. read more

My mother and I had an extremely bad experience at the Universal Urgent Care on Ming Avenue. We were seen by NP Anu Bawa who was extremely condescending, rude, and unprofessional. My mother had been suffering from a persistent cough for the past three weeks. Nothing that was over the counter had worked, including Mucinex DM and Robitussin DM which both contain the same active ingredients. I understand Anu Bawa's statement that this was a lingering cough that would take time to get over since I am a pharmacist myself who has witnessed this prevalent respiratory infection here in the community on multiple occasions. Additionally, we understood that the Keflex was hopefully going to treat the underlying cause of her symptoms. However, Ms. Bawa was in no way empathetic or compassionate to my mother's frustration and grief about this cough that was causing her extreme discomfort and exhaustion. The point of our visit was to hopefully get an alternative medication to help with the symptoms. If Ms. Bawa had done her job as a provider and LISTENED to what we had to say, things would not have escalated to the point that it did where both parties ended up upset. Essentially, the way she came off as was that she wanted to send us back out without having done anything to address my mother's issue. When my mother pressed the issue and asked whether she was to continue Robitussin DM when it wasn't even working, Ms. Bawa said "It's up to you whether you want to continue it or not. I'm not stopping you." This to me, is not an appropriate answer as a health provider. You are just saying that you refuse to help in any way. She also stated that there is nothing else out there besides Robitussin DM when this is totally false. She should have actually INTERVIEWED and LISTENED to my mother to get to the root of what sorts of things were causing the cough (was it postnasal drip that needed a decongestant component, was it a cough that originated from allergic component, etc). She, in her pride, was just quick to point out that we were wrong to self medicate with Mucinex DM to begin with because my mother's cough had been a dry cough. Well, come to find out, the NP at the SAME urgent care from the Friday prior had given us Robitussin DM, which is ALSO the same thing as Mucinex DM. Instead of holding onto her narcissistic pride and try to just show us how much she knew, she should have taken that precious time during the appointment to get to the root of the cause. When I, as a health professional, suggested a prescription for Bromfed syrup (brompheniramine, pseudoephedrine, and dextromethorphan), I believe she did not take my recommendation out of spite for us and due to her pride, which was more important than taking care of her patient at this point. She gave us a prescription for Sudafed PE cough and cold syrup which contains a totally ineffective decongestant (phenylephrine) and Tylenol (which she does not need because she is NOT in pain and also DOES NOT have a fever). When I asked the front receptionist to speak to Ms. Bawa after the appointment to get this changed to Bromfed, she AGAIN refused to write this prescription (which I do not understand because this is not a narcotic) and gave us an even more ineffective medication (Dimetapp). Not only was Ms. Bawa incredibly prideful, rude, and unprofessional and made us angry, but I can say as a fellow health professional that she is completely incompetent and useless and I hope you will really question whether she needs re-training in her medical knowledge as well as her bedside manners. read more

Was sent here by my employer to get my TB test done. After a little confusion between the front desk clerk and I, I called the HR department at my place of work for clarification. I was informed this facility is new to this process with my employer, but I shouldn't have a problem getting my test done and it should be covered. I returned to the front desk and relayed any new info I had learned from the phone call about the form I was handing in. I don't blame the front desk clerk for not knowing how to complete this newly added service but I felt her tone and choice of words was unprofessional and her conduction of the situation was ultimately rude. The entire time she kept asking me how I planned to pay, repeated basically that she didn't know what to do then blankly stared at me, and even asked me where my employer expected her to input the billing code on her computer. I felt as though I had to wait for her to figure out what to do but she was persistent in looking to me for help. It was really frustrating and bizarre. In my past experiences with this same procedure all I have to do is bring in the form and provide my ID. I wouldn't know anything else about the process unless I worked her job. I just felt it wasn't handled correctly in that she kept expecting me to fix it for her or help her understand what to do before she ever called a supervisor or anything. She eventually did and I was on my way but it took much more time than necessary for either one of us. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I went there after the meds I got from a different doctor was incorrect and weren't helping. I had been sick for a few weeks at this point. Got called back pretty quickly, but the doctor wasn't even in the room for three minutes. She said there was nothing she could do and she didn't know what was wrong. She didn't even examine me, just listened to my symptoms and what meds I had already been given. This was in March. Fast forward a month later, she calls to check up on me. SHE called ME. I didn't reach out to them, I didn't ask for anyone to call me, I didn't solicit medical advice, etc. She called me to see how I was doing and the conversation literally lasted maybe 30 seconds. ANOTHER month later, I get a bill in the mail for a copay due from an outpatient office visit. She charged me for the telehealth crap when she was the one that called me! I called their office right away and kept getting bounced around from person to person. I finally had to leave my name and number, but of course, no one called me back. I called back a few days later and the same thing happened. Billing was mysteriously unavailable again and was told to leave my name and number. I did that again and didn't receive a call back, again. Called in AGAIN a few days later and of course the same thing happened. I called my insurance and informed them of the scam charge and they personally called the office to ream them and request the money they paid back. Do not go to this place! read more

Worst urgent care EVER!!! Went in with a persistent, lingering cough. All the way from the receptionist, to the nurse, to the "medical professional" an extremely poor experience!! Both the receptionist and nurse seemed like they had no interest in doing their job. The nurse seemed either poorly trained or just apathetic to providing good patient care. She barely followed what I said when I explained to her my symptoms and didn't seem to be very knowledgeable at all. When the "primary" person came in, she had basically already decided what treatment she wanted to give me without discussing it with me at all. I had to insist on providing additional information she didn't bother to gather and it seemed to make very little difference to her. She had made up her mind with the treatment she was going to do before she even walked in and didn't bother to take any additional information into account. She was dismissive, unhelpful, and didn't even seem like she actually cared about me getting better, perfectly in sync with my overall experience thus far. She had me do a breathing treatment for the cough, then said it was pre-asthma or a reactionary airway. I insisted multiple times it only started when I had a cold two months ago, didn't matter, she didn't changed her mind. She prescribed an inhaler. I'm 27, played sports all my life and NEVER had any doctor tell me I had asthma, so I was incredibly skeptical. I went to Urgent Care on Buena Vista the next day, told them about my prior urgent care experience and told them the diagnosis seemed bizarre and wrong. Immediately they did a chest x-ray and saw I had pneumonia! Got started immediately on antibiotics. The BV was a great facility and I recommend never going to this one!! This place is clearly only open as a cash-grab with barely qualified, incompetent staff just looking to get paid! read more
