The second a piece of this divine creation graced the tips of my taste buds I was transported to a world without pain and suffering. Just for an instance, I experienced the essence of pure bliss and all my problems melted away in one big beautiful bite. Great eatery located on the second floor of the Encino Financial Center - Lowe building. They have plenty of options for breakfast and lunch as well as daily specials and any coffee you can think to make. The sandwiches come on a soft French roll and usually half fills me up enough for lunch as they are packed with meats and veggies. Their Cesar salad, ordered with chicken, is a low carb option for lunch. If you skipped breakfast order a latte and grab a breakfast burrito- much better deal than Starbucks, at around the same price but freshly made! I came to get a blood test in the building today, and noticed a new cafe opened up on the same floor! After my blood test I immediately ran to get a taste of the goodness.. The menu looked amazing so I was a bit indecisive on what to try. I was looking around to see what everyone else was having, and I later decided to get an everything bagel with egg, cheese & bacon. MELTED IN MY MOUTH I also ordered a Vanilla Latte, which was made with a manual espresso machine, and it was NOTHING compared to depressing starbucks (thank god)! I was kind of blown away at how long it took to make a burrito. Arrived when it opened and the cafe was pretty empty. Three employees were working and it took 17 minutes for me to get my burrito. A guy ordered the exact same thing as me about 10 seconds before mine and got his 5 minutes earlier...wouldn't you prepare the same items at the same time?? Wow - this sandwich was incredible! I got a turkey, mortadella, provolone and added olive tapenade. The bread was so soft, the turkey, mortadella, provolone, onion and tomato were all sliced so paper thin and piled up perfectly. The olive oil, Mayo and mustard kept the sandwich perfectly moist. Located inside the city national bank building on the 2nd level, I was visiting a specialist nearby and craved a sandy. Let me tell you this place was godsend! The hangover breakfast burrito was out of this world! $15 was such a great price considering it was huge! My husband and I spilt it we also took the pastrami Reuben to go and it was amazing! Shant was so friendly and patient with us as we decided what we wanted to eat! The horchata latte was the best iced coffee drink I have ever had! The whole cafe is clean, well kept, and really cute! What a hidden gem! This place might be hard to spot (2nd Floor in Citibank bldg), but literally a treasure once found. I'm HUGE on sandwiches, and i strongly recommend the Chantanago (might've spelled that wrong) sandwich if cold cuts is your thing! They also have little snacks, a FROZEN YOGURT stand, and one of those cool new Soda Machines with very unique flavors (recommend: the one with Vanilla in the name). Above all else, their customer service and people skills are severely lacking. I've heard many people throughout the years comment on their attitude and how they feel like they're interrupting something or are unwelcome when they go in to order or pick up. The entire staff consistently seems depressed or like they either need a nap or just woke up from one. It really, really doesn't feel good, especially considering how arrogant their pricing is. Their luck is the fact that there are few other options within reach and the busy professionals in the building often don't have much other choice. Would I ever opt for a $15 sandwich from downstairs if Jersey Mike's, at nearly half the price and twice the quality, were just as close by? Absolutely not. And they know this and take advantage, essentially price gouging the tenants of the building. When The Eatery first opened, there was a lovely, uplifting promise of a new beginning after Mike & Jean retired (god, I miss them every day). But after the frozen yogurt, craft soda fountain, and their willingness to force a smile were all gone, all that was left was the frequent disappointment in myself for not planning better and having to give in and give them my business. I know they can do better, because their predecessors did. But they're all too comfortable and know that at the end of the day, a lot of their business comes from convenience, so why would they make an effort? They often refer to menu items as "infamous", because they don't know the definition of the word. The only thing that's infamous is their attitude. Also, their coffee is just awful. read more

This place was a bit hard to find because it's located inside the Encino Financial Center, which is an office building. I had the spicy Italian sandwich without (banana) peppers. The sandwich was pretty good; I liked that it actually had a spicy kick to it. It was very large as well so I was able to save half for my lunch tomorrow. It definitely would have been better if there were more options for toppings like pickles, olives, or mustard. I noticed in the pictures on Yelp the fountain drinks were Stubborn Soda brand and the yogurt was Pinkberry. It's now a regular Coca-Cola fountain and not name brand yogurt. This didn't bother me but I'm sure some people care. The customer service was very friendly. If I worked in the building I would probably eat here all the time, because he biggest downside to The Eatery is that there is no free parking. At lunchtime on a weekday all of the metered spots on the street were taken, which probably would've been the cheapest option. I ended up parking in the building's garage which was $1.50 for each 15 minutes. After getting lost looking for the place, waiting 9 minutes for my sandwich when they weren't busy, and eating inside, I had to pay $4.50 for my visit. I thought paying for parking was a thing of the past when I moved from West Hollywood to Encino, but I guess not. Bonuses: I checked in on Yelp to receive a free fountain drink and paid with a credit card that I've previously used with Square, so to my surprise I received an e-mail for $5 off my next visit.
