I was delighted to find this bakery upon arriving in Dallas with time to kill before heading to my destination. As a Celiac who also chooses a plant-based lifestyle, I like to support bakeries like this. I went with the pumpkin-walnut muffins so that I could have one on my way back home, and share with my wife who follows the same diet as me. We went through the muffins so quickly that I didn't get a photo of an individual, but trust me they look -- and taste -- delicious. I enjoyed the final one as part of a bowl, post workout on Thanksgiving Day, with blueberries, plant based yogurt and hemp seeds. So amazing! Ordered their KETO holiday package, and also bought one for a friend for xmas. We just saw each other last night, and the two couples all had the same take - this bakery produces absolutely ghastly product. Bland. And a bizarre mouthfeel that can only be described as "wet, soggy bread" that had fallen in a bucket and was quickly fished out. AND, NONE of this stuff was cheap. I'm not a master pastry chef - but I know SOMETHING about baking. Pastries taste "wet" because water has replaced fat: this bakery must be using higher hydration, gums, emulsifiers, and seed oils to cut costs and extend shelf life, which traps free moisture instead of creating structure. Since it all came frozen, freeze-thaw cycles, steam-heavy baking, and underbaking keep that moisture from escaping, so the pastry compresses and oozes instead of flaking. In short, their pastries taste like they're optimized for efficiency and holding time, not mouthfeel--so we were tasting water where butter should have been doing the work. Absolute fail. Ok- we need more locations asap (NW metroplex area)! What a gem to stumble upon. Everything here is gluten free and many things were also keto! They offered several samples which made us buy even more. They have lots of things that are ready to eat and tons in the freezer. I wish we would've stocked up. We stopped into this location today for the first time. I was sad to see that the mckinney ave location is no longer there. It has apparently relocated to richardson. My mom is gf and theres not that many gf bakery options so every time she visits we have to stop in here at least once for treats! We loved our cupcakes. She got the chocolate and i got the lemon. I was disappointed with the lemon one- the cupcake itself was very light and moist but i wanted more lemon flavor in the cupcake and the frosting. Some lemon curd in the middle would be divine. I called to place an order for a cake and for dinner rolls ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. I was told that the best plan was to just come by and see what they had in stock because they usually keep things in stock. So what is the deal with custom cakes or online ordering? Just a farce? Does that happen from a central kitchen? If so, perhaps the store staff could help redirect potential customers. At the very least, it would be nice if the staff would not mock a customer request and basically just say, call back a couple of days before and we'll see what we have available. He told me he would add a note to the DoorDash orders so people can comment with changes or notes to their order which will help significantly. He assured me that this issue would be looked into and dealt with immediately. The next day I received a gift card that I plan to use and give the place another chance. Customer service is so important right now when there are multiple food choices so it's nice to see someone take responsibility for the inconveniences and promise quick action to make things better. I love that this bakery is gluten free, and soy free with many vegan options. I got the chocolate cake, chocolate frosting vegan cake for a friend/coworkers birthday. It was rich and moist, yet light. I love that you don't feel heavy after eating it, with it not having any of that high fructose corn syrup that traditional cakes have. I was just driving by and curiosity got the best of me so I walked in. I bought the Banana Walnut muffins on a whim and was pleased that I did. What I liked about these is that they are healthy tasting (not to sweet) and based upon the ingredients, good for you. My sister ordered a small vegan cake for our Mother's birthday. When I arrived the worker seemed to not be able to find the pre-paid order in neither my name, nor my sister's name. After some time another worker helped him find it (it was in my name, a name I had spelled out, and give him 3 times) and it was not vegan and contained a milk based cream cheese icing. I called my sister and she relayed the conversation that she had with the worker and he lied stating that she never specified that she wanted a completely vegan cake. My niece was a witness to the phone call and she said that her Mom did indeed confirm that the cake must be vegan. I asked could they bake another cake as the event was the next day and they said NO. They also did not offer our money back. They said that the only thing that they could do was to take a frozen cake that was already a week old. The one thing that our Mother requested was a fresh vegan cake and we couldn't deliver because of the Unrefined Bakery. Unrefined, as in ill mannered coarse, common, rough-cut, uncouth, vulgar, lacking refinement or cultivation or taste, crass. 1. They don't listen, it took him over 20 minutes to find my name of which he wrote and then could not read his own handwriting. 2. They are unorganized. 3. They don't on up to their mistakes. 4. They don't try to fix mistakes. 5. They showed no remorse, nor compassion for messing up our order 6. I will NOT ever be back. My husband spent days researching and reading reviews to find a ketogenic bakery that could bake and ship a birthday cake to our house for my 46th birthday. We live in Michigan and he knew the cake would need to ship, safely, in the hot July weather, and be strictly ketogenic for my dietary restrictions. The good: The cake, a three layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, did arrive to our house in great shape and it was frozen solid. It was so frozen in fact it took 12 hours for it to thaw out at room temperature after spending three days with UPS. The cake could have been dropped on the floor and still been in one piece - it was a solid brick of frozen cake. The bad: Along with the cake, my husband ordered two packs of chocolate whoopie pies. It was unbelievably thoughtful of him. The whoopie pies also arrived in great shape. They were not frozen when they arrived, however. The whoopie pies were not great. The cake was dry to the point of being hard around the edges and the chocolate flavor was almost non-existent. I'm wondering if the cake was both over-mixed and over-baked. The filling was greasy and heavy. The ugly: After the cake thawed we were able to cut two very small pieces and both noticed the frosting on the side of the cake was crumbling, which is a sign of improper mixing with cold butter or not enough liquid. Dry frosting is the worst. We both were excited about the cake because this was my birthday cake and I did not have to bake. Unfortunately, this excitement was short lived because this was the worst cake either of us had ever had. The cake tasted like what we imagine a wet sponge tastes like. There was no chocolate flavor. Chocolate cake can be tricky, but a bakery that specializes in very expensive ketogenic cakes should be able to bake at least a semi-edible chocolate cake. This entire cake ended up in the trash. It was not even semi-edible. If you need a bakery that is really good at freezing and shipping cakes, Unrefined is the bakery for you. If you need a bakery that will bake you a delicious chocolate ketogenic cake, keep looking. read more

Everything is gluten free (which is why I go) and there are plenty of options that cater to other good sensitivities & allergies. I went 2 days ago and they already had a variety of frozen pies and crusts to get you ready for the holidays. There were some really cute Halloween themed cookies & I got one for my kid. I ate both of the brown velvet cupcakes that I got, immediately after. I also purchased and in the last 2 days had a cornbread muffin (frozen section) & I had a cinnamon roll (frozen section) that was too good to be true. One of my favorite bakery experiences so far in Dallas. They have numerous options of cookies, pies, and cupcakes for vegan, gluten free, keto, and paleo diets, all beautifully labeled at the counter. It was my first time, and a staff member gladly showed me all the vegan items I was interested in. There were also free samples, and you get a free cookie on your first visit. I ended up getting the apple cinnamon cupcake and pumpkin chocolate chip cupcake ($5 each) which were very sweet for my tastes but I say that of most all desserts. There is even a rewards program but you'd be in for a long haul because you have to spend $100 to get one free cupcake. The fudge brownie cupcake was soooo good in consistency and moistness and flavor. The chocolate/sugar flavor was slightly muted, but I thought it was perfect. They said they got a new crust, but there was nothing they could do for me for the price. Heads up if you are expecting what you used to get it is 1/3 of the size. Stopped in recently with my heart set on TuLus, but as we pulled up, to our surprise, this new bakery was here and TuLus was nowhere to be found. Because we had traveled about 20+ miles, we decided to give them a shot. We ordered 5 cupcakes- chocolate and brown velvet, and a loaf of gluten free bread for $32. The cupcakes were just OK. The owners claimed they won the best taste award throughout Dallas and that theirs was the only GF. I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing that. My chocolate muffin tasted more like a bran/flax muffin and my son didn't even want to eat his brown velvet. We also found the icing tasted "gritty". The cupcakes were moist though. I felt they were a bit overpriced and overall left feeling the drive was not worth it. The bread is very tasty, but I'm going to purchase a $25 breadmaker and experiment making my own. The owners were very nice though and took time to allow us to taste bread products and educate us.
