Went to dinner with husband, ordered lamb shank and koubideh it was ok. The place was hot, we were sweating, felt like they had no AC but when I asked they said they did. There were only 2 other tables there, yet food took a long time to serve. We asked for 1 baklava and they took a long time to bring to us, we ended up going to the cash register to pay and take it to go. I asked to give me an itemized receipt they kept acting like they didn't understand what I was asking for, when they finally gave it to me I saw they charged me for 2 and charged to use my atm card. Superb Persian food at a friendlier price. I am a meat snob; I don't want to see any cartilage, gristle or crud on my plate. Theirs never disappoints. Pristinely marinated chicken barg or kabob barg melts in your mouth. Lighter than air basmati rice and heavenly dressed salad complement most entrees. My only complaint is a lack of ice in my tea. I think it's a cultural thing, but this Ugly American wants her ice. We've been going there for over 15 years; feels like family. My Goodness, one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I ordered a dinner combination for my family for pick up at 6:00pm and asked if the food would be ready by 6:30pm the same day. The lady on the phone told me it wouldn't be an issue and confirmed. My wife and I get there at 6:30 sharp and was told 10 more minutes by one of the staff who seemed to be cooking as well. 20 minutes pass by and still no response and when asked again, a very rude younger employee said that I'd have to wait. At this point I asked for me money back because it's 7:00pm and still no food at all. They oblige but same younger employee begrudgingly gave me the handed the cash back. A small casual restaurant featuring a small and outdated buffet island with limited offerings. If you're in a hurry and you think food is already cooked for you to start eating, think again. They make their kabobs when the small container runs out. They separate the kabobs into three small containers and is the only meat offered so if you're coming there mainly for their kabobs you have to wait and wait. Each container is a serving for only two people. Service by the older man, owner(?) is friendly but the woman and younger man are quick to dismiss your repeated requests to refill the kabobs containers. I had to tell them three times. Because they're trying to turnover kabobs a little at a time ( owner says that way it stays fresh) yet as fast as they can, the inner part near the stick were not cooked through. Taste wise it was ok, not the best or worst I've had. Overall $12 is not worth the limited buffet offerings, the constant wait for the kabobs, inconsistent service and average food. read more

I was in this restaurant recently. They have spacious parking and pleasant interior to watch the outside view while eating inside. However the sitting is not comfortable at all. I ordered 2 dishes, one was chicken sultani and another was beef kubideh. They came in big rice dishes with salad and lots of rice. We were 3 adults and one kid. So I asked for 4 plates to eat. The owner (if I'm not mistaken) said we have to use the small desert plates (appx 5 inches diameter) to eat. They put the napkin and cutlery on these plates. I said they are too small. Then the owner said there will be $5 service charge per plate. So I have to pay $20 extra to use 4 plates. I don't know why he was so unfriendly and made my feelings numb. I did not extend the discussion and gently said it's ok. I'll use the small plates. I worked in a restaurant for 2 years as a waiter. I know it's not only the food but also the service what makes a restaurant great. Anyway the food was average. So I give 2 stars to the restaurant. And suggest you to avoid the restaurant. read more

Had the lunch buffet. It was good but not exceptionally good. It's a small spread. They had hummus and pita bread, salad, tomatoes and cucumbers. For the main, they had ground beef kabob and barbecue chicken. They were tasty. They also served a spicy chicken with potatoes. Good. They two kinds of soup - vegetable and yellow peas. The yellow pea soup was very good. For a vegetable dish, they had roasted onions and red sweet peppers. And French fries!? Overall, the buffet was not impressive. It was small and simple. This a 5 star family owned business all the way! #1 the food was delicious!! i ordered Fish with Beef kabob and woah... was i surprised, best Mediterranean food Ive ever had!! So juicy and tender, the jasmine rice was also sooo fluffy lol (if that makes sense) and tunmy warm pita bread with butter mmmm. You also get a free dessert which was ok. Everything else though :) Deliciousness!! Then the owners ( i think - wife and husband, they are so nice and the man that helped me was so welcoming and inviting! It seems that I've always loved Persian food. Like many, I thought I knew what dolmeh and hummus tasted like, but I was in for a surprise. When everything is freshly made, like it is at Upland Kabob, it takes the flavor to a whole new level. We had never tried Kashkeh Bodemjan before, but if you like Baba Ganoush, you will love Kashkeh Bodemjan! It's made with eggplant and yogurt, and tastes heavenly. Our entrees were Lamb Shank (the tender, fallling-off-the-bone kind of lamb) and the divinely inspired dish known as Fessenjan, made with chicken covered in pomegranate-walnut sauce. Our gracious host Yadie made us feel right at home, and even whipped up a complimentary new honey covered rice-based dessert for us to sample. If anyone has ever had the blessing of having authentic home cooked Persian food.. you would swear you were visiting relatives! Came here with my coworkers for Christmas lunch. Talked to the owner and made a reservation, agreed on price and the menu. Owner made it seem everything would go seamlessly on the day we were coming and we would have enough food for the number of guests. However when we came, the food wasn't ready on time. Finally when it came, it wasn't enough quantity for the number of guests. I told the owner to bring out more food and he said he'll get us more, but took a long time. Long enough that some coworkers started to leave as it was getting too late. I think the owner cheated us. He knew we were on a timeline and purposely did that.
