Two stars for Oscar and Oscar alone, who was wonderful when we first we're moving across country when my husband was restationed. He was responsive, understanding and helpful. He was great and we're sorry he's not our point of contact any longer. My family has been renting from Uplift for over a year now and our experience since January has been difficult. Response time as a whole is VERY poor. Our rental unit was flooded in January and when expressing my concerns on repairs it would regularly take 10-12 days to get a response which was usually short with a promise of "more information to come" which I would then have to chase down another 10-12 days later. This goes for both emails and calls, so please don't think calling will help speed anything up for you. Myself and my infant son were also displaced from our home due to health, safety and habitability concerns caused by the flood and Uplift did nothing to help us out or accommodate us. We paid full rent to not live in a home for almost 2 months while they dried out and repaired one room. When we extended our lease (we're military and options that allow pets are hard to come by), they added on a new misleading "Resident Benefit Package" that is now tacking on an additional $45.95 per month. In their own words, " We understand not everyone will get the same amount of benefit from this package since it is all dependent on individual circumstances." For myself and my husband, this just means they are taking money out of our pockets and giving us nothing. We don't utilize ANY of the services, which may be hard to believe but it's 100% true. We don't need a credit boost , we live in a home not an apartment so they don't provide us HVAC filters, we're already moved in, so don't need their concierge service, we don't pay our rent late so we don't need late fee forgiveness, we don't need identity protection (we have it elsewhere) and we're not sure what other "Rewards" are supposedly included, but the greatest reward they could offer is my money back since it feels like stealing at this point since I am paying for a service I'm not getting. They offered to lower the fee since we have our own rental insurance, but I provided copies, uploaded the proof to the requested portal and STILL it's been 25 days and nothing in our portal reflects our now overpayment from May, credit owed in June and updated cost going forward. The last thing they offer is home buying assistance as part of this program. This is the biggest insult of all because while we are looking to buy, given the awful communication history, lack of empathy and general headaches from this company, why would we EVER want these folks helping us buy a home? The home is great, location and neighbors are wonderful but jeez, if you can avoid this rental company, you should. read more

I rented an apartment for a little over two years at Daisy Hill Apartments. This is by far the best property management company I have rented from. Brianna and Shane (Cheyne) I hope I got one of these right were fantastic. I had only had to call the office a couple of times. Each time I had left a message, Brianna or Shane called or emailed me back very promptly. I had called one time with a kitchen faucet dripping constantly. Another my toilet leaking. Both times they just had the maintenance company replace the fixtures instead of trying to fix them. I was very impressed! They do not mess around with these things. uplift property management? More like the opposite in my view. Thought my daughter's first apartment experience could be a happy one, but thanks to this company it is a continuing nightmare. She signed the lease on Tuesday night and was told by Brittany to pick up keys at 8:00 AM the next day after dropping off the check. Next day, after some 15, mostly unanswered, phone calls to Brittany, a helpful coworker and having a maintenance worker break open the lockbox, she was able to get into the place after 4:00 PM. Then she finds out that her side unit had no separate meter for electricity and gas which Brittany assured her she would take care of and basically expecting her to foot the bill for utilities at the entire place. Numerous calls to Brittany remained unanswered, so we considered this a breach of contract only to be told by Marly, Brittany's supervisor, after supposedly checking with the CEO and landlord, that my daughter will be held responsible to the lease terms even though Uplift Property Management so grossly violated their duty to manage this property. Nice huh? I guess the only one who has to abide by the rules is the renter. This has been a truly awful and frustrating experience and now my daughter is stuck at this place because we cannot afford to buy her out of the lease, since they will take their time finding another renter because they already found some poor sucker living there. Before signing anything with this company, make sure this is what you want and hand them the check only if you can verify getting into the place, communication goals and utilities and other particulars. Hi Chris, I actually posted it after giving you a terrible review in person to a colleague who was looking for a property manager and had heard of you. I felt compelled to share my experience more generally and perhaps save some people the experience of working with you. I do understand how property management lines of communication work. It's a bit more complicated when there is an existing line of communication that is actively encouraged by the owner. Regardless, these guidelines do not excuse the damaging and illegal behavior of your employee. Your unapologetic and irrelevant review response only further displays your misunderstanding of what goes on in your own business. Again, Jensen Properties is amateurism personified. Don't walk- RUN! I did have 3 floods in the building & they did admit that the entire place needed to be ripped up due to extensive black mold, but that's just beach living.... I was displaced for 4 months which was hard for me, and I was just upset that the contractors threw away my dead brother's pictures (my only request after I was displaced), but Thomas perfect and Robin in management were very nice and helpful they're a good team I hope the next tenant loves the amazing property, its all clean and pristine now, it really was so many good memories read more

In response to Chris J., I'd like to take the time to clarify that there was imminent danger from the neighbors ie verbal threats "Is there another man in there? I'm going to knock down this door if you don't open it.", loud yelling, banging on the door shaking the entire complex during my walk through to move in WITH the landlord for my apartment. It was not dealt with in an appropriate manner. There was yelling for awhile and the altercation was not addressed by management. If you want to call it a "medical reason" that is fine however, the truth is it was an unsafe altercation where I would have called the police had the landlord not been present. I understand business and professionalism is a key value for any company so I agree with working with the owners of the property HOWEVER, I received no costumer service as evidence by, my calls were not returned in a timely manner, the front desk was rude/impatient, the broker was inappropriate and out of line with her accusations. I paid over $2,000 to spend ONE NIGHT in this apartment because it was not safe and no one facilitated an intervention. This a company that victim blames, does not take your concerns seriously, only cares about taking your money therefore, I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

As the owner of the property I would not recommend this company. They do not accompany protective tenants in to see the house. They give them a code on a lock box to let themselves in and trust they lock up. I had damage done to my home after the first person had viewed the home. Uplift is very hands-off. They don't charge as many fees as other companies but you also don't get quality service or care of your property. My tenants started calling me directly when the management company would take several days to return calls. We have always posted, and selected tenants on our own and have never had issues with any of our tenants. The first time we used Uplift they selected tenants that immediately stopped paying rent, completely trashed the house, harassed the neighbors and became and absolute nightmare. This company is very hands off, doesn't even meet the prospective tenants and I doubt they even ran a credit check or verified income on the tenants they put in my house. They cost me thousands in repairs. I dumped this company as soon as the contract was up. Stay away!! read more

I rented a Studio apartment from Jensen Properties during early 2019 to mid 2020. Upon moving in, there was NO smoke alarm installed in the Studio apartment during my 1st walk-through or prior to moving in (see attached photo). Also, after completing a 1-year lease agreement, I constantly reported a poor drainage due to rain run-off issue which created large puddles (see attached photos) in not only mine, but multiple tenants' front patios or entrance spaces making it a hazard to approach your own gated walk-thru. This was never fully addressed, resolved or repaired and remained a hazard and inconvenience during my time living there as a result of the heavy rains, in San Diego, in February of 2019 and rainy weather during parts of 2020. I was also charged, WITHOUT NOTICE, an exorbitant "cleaning fee" after spending 1.5 hrs. using an entire container of disinfectant Lysol wipes, some surface scrub for the tub/shower as well as toilet bowl cleaner and sweeping out the entire unit while cleaning the inside & outside of all appliances, less some dust on a standing heater, but was still charged over $100.00 for failing to clean off that dust and dust on the blinds + for leaving a 3 ft. area untouched along the side of my refrigerator that was not wiped-down. I disputed this cleaning fee with Jensen Properties and asked nicely to only be charged $75 or over 1/2 of the original cleaning fee while including a detailed summary of what I did clean inside the Unit, yet Jensen Properties stated the charge for over $100 would come out of my Security Deposit whether a cleaning crew had to come in and "touch-up" the Unit or to perform an entire cleaning of the Studio apartment space??? So, beware!!! Thomas from Jensen Properties did reach out to me, by phone, in an attempt to resolve my frustrations as a former tenant + me being charged a cleaning fee, yet he stated that he felt, "Threatened by me..." while I was simply explaining my displeasure in how I felt ignored or not understood as a valued, good paying tenant over 1-year of renting from them. I also improved upon and made sure that my upkeep left the Studio apartment in better shape than when I 1st moved in. Meaning, I noticed a sizable opening seam along the side of my tub/shower or the bathroom flooring, shortly after moving in, that allowed water (from the bathtub/shower) to seep into it and below it, yet Jensen Properties still raised my rent after 1-yr. for $100 more per month and, again, was slow to resolve repair requests, including, faulty front door locks, poor drainage due to rain run-off and some earlier screen damage in 2-room spaces. Finally, I was informed by other tenants, in the same building, that Jensen Properties took months and after multiple requests to simply replace a light bulb to a security, motion light on the street facing side of the building (see attached photo). It didn't surprise me after I waited months before they ever addressed the poor drainage issue due to rain run-off while I lived there. Again, rent at your own risk! or don't! read more

My nightmare started one year ago when we were forced to move because my family is asian and we were being harassed by our neighbors. I was forced to select the first property that would let us move in. I had to make an application for each member of my family and submit photo ID for each one even though my daughter at the time was only 17. The rental process was grueling, you need to prove that you have renters insurance, that you have a parking authorization from the city because the parking in the neighborhood is strictly for residents and if you have any pets you have to pay pet rent which is $50 per pet and you have to provide proof of vaccination before you move in, you also have to prove that you have started all services also before you move in, wow! My rental deposit was over $5000.00 i thought i was moving into a la jolla mansion! The nightmare continued, my bathtub would not drain and a plumber was sent to fix the problem. He scooped out a wad of hair from the drain left over from the previous renters and left in 10 minutes, I was charged $70! I could not put any heaters in the room during the winter because the fuse box would shut off so we were cold all winter because there was no central heating. Finally we were in a position to buy our own home so after the end of our year lease i gave a 30 day notice to vacate the premises. Then we were told by our real estate agent that we would be able to move in to our new house between march 15 or 20, great! Then suddenly there was a problem with escrow and we didnt know when we would be moving in. I made arrangements to stay at our place for another 7 days so that we wouldnt be homeless, it was $700, that arrangement was made around the 25th of march. Then on the 28th of march we were told that we could move in to our new house after all on the 29th. I immediately contacted Jensen properties and told them that we would be out after all by the 31st of the month. Now i dont think that what they did is legal and i hope that someone that reads this can correct me but Jensen properties still charged me the $700 for the extra days even though i turned in the keys and was physically out of the premises by the 31st COB. If Jensen properties says that there was someone waiting to rent the premises then i think it may have been a correct way to recoup their loss, but if you think about all the things that have to happen before you move in it just seems kind of greedy to me. Now i got the paper work for my refund and lo and behold! They charged me $968 to paint the premises! Paint! I have no children in my family, no one wrote on the walls, no one damaged the property. If you can, dont rent from this greedy, cruel property management company, I had no choice! YOU DO! read more

Wow. Glad I came to Yelp to read business owner's snide & sarcastic reviews. I was entertaining the idea of renting their property while my sister and I both fix up our own homes then buy a larger home to live together after retirement. The initial phone conversation was nice & pleasant (a lady whose name I do not know). I was told to schedule viewing while my question was "exactly what do you mean by a small dog?" Fine, I tried to schedule viewing. Filled out sketchy but lengthy online form, only to find out they (automated machine) "could not schedule" because I don't qualify. WTH??? I'm retired, a home owner, enough money in the bank, pension, but there was no place for my sister (about to retire, huge pension) as a co-applicant. My income definitely meets the approximate income they ask. Heck, I could pay 12 months worth of rent in advance. So much for automated computerized scheduling. I looked at their website, and it sounded like a company who cares about tenants. I specifically looked at their condition of early termination of the lease. Because we're seniors, anything could happen any day before we purchase a house, and we didn't want whichever is left behind to be stuck with rent and mortgage. Had to consider all possibilities. They're very upfront and clear about the penalty and "we'll do everything to rent out the property ASAP to get you outta lease", but after reading reviews and replies, I realize property management companies REALLY don't care about tenants but $$$, doesn't matter where it comes from. I now realize this is one industry I want to avoid. I know it's rare these days to rent directly from property owners, but there still are some. I'm just exploring options at this time to plan for life after retirement, and I thank everybody for sharing bad stories of this company to slow me down and be careful. I'm in no hurry! read more

Called to inquire about a rental property that came up on Zillow. Was told to go to their website and apply. I wanted to see the property first .... Was told someone would call be back and a week later received no call. Additionally, the property is not on their website. No one answers the phone at their office during stated business hours. Just thought I'd write a review while I'm sitting here waiting to get a response from the after hours emergency maintenance line. My electricity is out as of about an hour, and it has happened many, many times before. This time though, my breaker won't turn back on. No biggie, it's only 80 degrees outside and getting hotter by the minute. I don't mind that all my refrigerated items are gonna start to go. I'll just bring my mom all the way across the country again to help me make more tamales to stock my freezer again since all mine will start going bad soon. I can't tell what has been worse about living here, the re-occurring pest problem we had?, The fact that they still have yet to fix our falling apart drawers that was requested to be fixed nearly a year ago, which are a pain to open everytime?, The fact that our unit wasn't even move-in ready so we had to wait for them to fix our shower, kitchen sink and the list goes on with that one! Jensen properties doesn't give a hoot about their tenants, and especially Cecilia Taylor acts like it's a huge deal just because you want to request a maintenance fix. We're talking about functionality here, not even about cosmetic at this point. At least a couple of weeks ago, if something like this happened, Lupe (the manager) would still be employed and I could just call her cause she ALWAYS made darn sure that an emergency maintenance was taken care of right away. Well to my horror I just called Lupe and she said she's no longer with our complex. I.could.cry! If Jensen knew what was good for them, they would beg Lupe to come back and offer her a raise. Welp, I guess I better save some battery life since I can't charge my phone!!! read more

His Utilizes rently website, which I think is an amazing system that many other companies should be using. He is very intelligent and able to explain things well throughout the whole process. Unfortunately my husband and I were not shown the same amount "empathy" and basic consideration as the other reviews. We were second in line for one of their listings and unfortunately didn't get that one. They did promise us however that we would have been accepted otherwise, and luckily they had a unit coming up, so we asked them to push our applications for that one. After multiple phone calls trying to reach them to make sure we were the first ones in line to get it, they tell us that they've started accepting applications and we're pretty much screwed on that one. But, they said they had another one coming up that's not on the market and my husband and I are very desperate at this point so we say fine.
