Very, very poor service. My friend and I had a simple order. After an hour of waiting, customers who came in AFTER us received their food already, and they had a larger party. We asked our waitress for food status, mentioning the other people receiving their order first and she said she moved our order to the front. But because we had to get back to work and ran out of time, we asked to just pay for our drinks, which SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPED for our troubles!!! It would be different if they were slammed but there were about 5 tables and a couple already had their food. My friend was trying to make eye contact with a couple of the wait staff but they never looked over so she got up and walked to the counter to inquire again. This has been our spot for breakfast for a bit. Good food and reasonable prices in a small locally owned restaurant. We have family that we take care of that would be susceptible to COVID. This morning we found out that the owners don't believe in masks or social distancing. The employees aren't required to wear masks (we didn't see a single employee with one on). The patrons aren't required to wear masks (50% or more walked in with masks in hand). They don't have disposable menus or electronic menus. That is the owners choice. As a family, his choice means we can't partake in their business until this is over. We don't have a lot of options for breakfast in the area, but that's not enough for us to ignore the risks of eating at this establishment. read more

This place has been my families favorite breakfast place, but today was horrible. We came in, and it was not busy. I counted 5 girls chatting away in the kitchen while some young girl was skipping around the food prep area. Lucy was our waitress and seemed nice enough but barely checked up. We never even were asked for a refill. The food came out about 20-30 minutes later, which consisted of 1 kids eggs plate and 1 adult burrito. After getting done with half my meal, I noticed they had forgotten about one of my sides. We were about done but told the waitress to knock it off the bill. I was told it was a free item....yet, it's part of the meal itself. At this point I said if you can make it to go, I will take some red potatoes. She comes back saying the cook stepped out. Frustrated at the service already, I replied, "What about some biscuits and jam?" They apparently could not do that but was offered a bagel. At this point, I told her we will just pay the bill. My wife paid and handed me the recipe only to find out they charged us double for the kids' meal. How many things can you screw up in one sitting? We are local and have only been here 3 times over the past 4 years and here's why: 1st time it took a long time to get our order. My benedict was missing spinach. The couple that sat next to us had an issue with their order 2nd time food took 40 min and was so-so 3rd time my bf ordered hash browns. The seemed undercooked. Later he got nauseous. We love upper park! it's our go to when it comes for breakfast since it's close to home. HOWEVER TODAY WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED. My boyfriend and I walk in at 1:44 pm we seat down and we were immediately greeted with "Are you guys going to eat? Because our kitchen closes in 5 min". I said no problem we know what we want we can go ahead and order. Then the young lady proceeded with "let me ask my manager". Comes back in less than 10 seconds and says "actually its already 1:45 and we are closed". We asked for the manage's name which she said was Ella. I own a restaurant myself and if my sign says I close at 2 I will serve every customer that walks in that door until 2pm. Im glad someone gave then a 5 star, it's not going to be me. Ever since they opened we've eaten there a handful of times and the experience has been the same from the first to the last. We've gone for both breakfast and lunch. First things first we want good wait service. Quick as can be expected depending on how busy a place is because we know... but at least keep an eye on us. Every time EVERY TIME we've been there (with my family or friends, no difference) it takes forever to get drinks refilled. I've had to often get up and go to the front to get my coffee refilled. I don't know what that is but every time it's the same. They don't come by often and be prepared to take your cup or glass to the front to ask for a refill. You may have to do it. Food... nothing special but not bad. However prepandemic we thought the costs for the value were a bit high and post pandemic, yeah. Not paying those prices for less portions and same style of food same flavor. Nothing different. My take is this is a great option in Aubrey because we don't have many choices. If you want to stay local and have something more than McDonald's or sonic or chicken express here you go. Second its a novelty for those passing through. Lots of motocycle day groups stop in and others driving through so there's that. Just our opinion but there are better options a few miles up the road with more choices and better pricing or at least better value for your money. The one thing I'll always recommend here is the Pecan coffee - pretty fabulous. In the end though, if you don't care about going in to eat where you may or may not receive courteous attention as a customer should expect and you don't mind paying a nice price for food you could've made at home and might have even tasted better, this is your place. read more

Went to have breakfast this past weekend at Upper Park Cafe. Had not been there in about a year. Took a friend because their food is always very good. Attempted to alter the order slightly by adding a side of pancakes versus the normally included sides. All went really well until receiving the bill. Essentially, patron beware! Learned after the order that if you alter the order they will up charge you a lot more than ordering the standard off the menu items. Long story short I used to love this resturant. However after having to paying $24.40 for a $13.50 omelet due to these up charges. I sadly will not be able to support this Aubrey based business any longer. More disappointed that the resturant staff did not pass this information along to me. Even more disappointed the manger seemed indifferent to my questions. read more

My Mother's Day experience today included a 45 minute wait to be seated (which is to be expected) followed by what is an hour and ten minute wait for our food (and counting). A restaurant should be absolutely ashamed of itself to take patrons without disclosing this type of egregious inefficiency. To add to the insult I've had a waitress come by the table about every ten minutes for the past half hour to tell me that my food is about to come out. Nobody should ever pay for service this bad. Decided to visit the Upper Park Cafe after discovering it was there a few weeks ago. What I liked immediately is that it is open 2 hours earlier (6am) than Mom's on Main, which is two doors down. Now I can get an earlier start to my day with some wonderful food. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs, bacon and a side of hashbrowns. All turned out wonderfully. The star of the show was the Pecan Roast coffee. It was very good and I even asked where they buy it from. (Turns out it is a custom roast from a supplier...darn!). The food was standard fare found on many cafe menus, but what set it aside, was the food was prepared in a way that did not have as many "additives" as you might find in other "stick to your ribs" cafes. So, if you want a little more salt in your hashbrowns, add it. If you want more pepper in your gravy, add it. The food all tasted good and I walked out feeling satisfied. If I had to categorize this place, I would say it was Old West Cafe "lite" fare....good home-style cooking. Additionally, the owner and staff were all very friendly and engaged with me while I was there....a sign of good service. The place is in a historic building in Aubrey, and they have maintained the rustic feel of original red brick walls and antique ceiling paneling. Big, open space with lots of tables. They have pecan coffee, pecan French toast, and pecan pie. Breakfast is served all day, and they have an espresso bar. I got a mint mocha. It came in a glass, which was hot even through the paper sleeve placed around the glass. I kind of expected it to either come in a mug or a paper cup. The mocha was super hot, and I had to wait until it cooled to drink it. The mint flavor lingered long after I had finished my drink. For lunch, I had the southwest chicken wrap. It was good. We drove almost a hour to get to this place, we had heard good things about it and wanted to try it out. We walk in and they didn't have a table ready because they weren't clean, they were not busy at all maybe 15 ppl max. We finally got a table after 15 mins waiting, the waiter took like 10 mins to come ask for our drinks. We finally told her what we wanted and it was simple 2 waters and 1 coffee. A couple sat next to us right after because they also had to wait a while on the tables to be cleaned. They got their drinks and placed their order right away with no wait, along with another couple diagonally behind us. Mind you we have been sitting for almost 15 mins with no drinks and haven't even placed our order for our food. Meantime our waitress was standing in the kitchen area talking to her friends and waiting on food to be ready but completely ignoring or not paying attention to us. I had enough and and asked the hostess for a different waitress she said ok. She went back to talk to her but nothing changed she was still taking her sweet time and then had the nerve to FINALLY bring us out drinks. At that moment I was over the whole situation and wanted to leave so I told my wife we just needed to leave and take our money somewhere else that we would be treated better and actually get the service we deserve. Today Lynette and I went to the Upper Park Cafe in downtown Aubrey, Tx. This is a charming, small town delight. After entering a historic building, you are met by a very friendly, efficient staff. This is a very popular restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy. Old brick walls that show changes that have occurred over the years. An old fashion textured ceiling. There is a counter for seating in the back of the restaurant with granite counters and chairs that are higher, but not so high that they are uncomfortable to get on. There are plenty of tables to accommodate, but you might expect to wait on a weekend. The menu for breakfast was fairly extensive. Lynette had the three omlet with ham and cheese and fresh fruit. I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast that comes with 2 eggs and a choice of 2 bacon strips or sausage patties. I upgraded to the sausage gravy ( great choice on my part) and for some reason I thought I needed some potatos. Lynette's omelet was excellent and so much that we had to bring some home. On my part, my breakfast was phenomenal, but I made a big mistake ordering the potatos. I just had too much food. The scrambled eggs were obviously more than 2 eggs. The biscuits and gravy were made with 2 good size biscuits and delicious sausage gravy. The sausage patties were very good and the order of potatos was huge. As good as everything was, it was more than even I could finish. This place is absolutely worth coming to. Are there any negatives? Hardly worth mentioning. Ok i have been a weekly patron of this place for over 6 months.... some weeks 2 or even 3 times per week..... alot of the girls that work here recognize me and my husband when we come in..... unfortunately after today i have no intention of returning ever again. Our server Shelby was extremely rude to us when we questioned being charged for a refill on my husband's orange juice..... being regulars the girls hadnt charged us for his refills .... so I asked about it and was very curtly told they always charge for juice refills but not soda refills etc. And i politely explained we come in all the time and were regulars and the other servers hadnt been charging. She then curtly told me she had been working there for 2 years and always had charged for juice refills and the other servers arent doing their job then..... wow ..... rudness for me and disrespect for her coworkers???? i paid and tip and asked for my receipt. When she came back with the receipt she just walk on by didnt stop at all just place the receipt on the table as she went to the kitchen..... to many servers hustle so hard for their tips waiting on customers!!! She was rude to a customer and she put down her fellow co-workers who treat us so well! I will take my money to other small businesses where when the customer questions a charged they are not treated poorly by the server they are about to tip.... and who have more respect for their fellow coworkers! read more

Perfect Saturday brunch. I had the breakfast quesadilla with mushrooms and green chilis instead of meat. Added some sour cream and it was absolutely perfect. The red potatoes had great flavor too.
