This by far is the best breakfast place in all Atlanta! Quiet and unassuming. We were in town on vacation and were looking for a breakfast place that was neither food chain or too fancy-which usually makes up for over expensive and not good. I had the pork chop 3 eggs and hash browns and they were all fresh!! The wife had the grain pancakes and scrambled eggs. Delicious! A good indicator of the experience was there cup of coffee. The best. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a well fixed breakfast with great customer service and prices. read more

They don't take to go orders over the phone after 10am. I found this as very odd given the fact that the reviews say the place gets really busy on the weekends. You would think they would want the extra business given it's not full service in the restaurant. And the lady who answered could have been nicer about it. Went there for brunch and the wait was about an hour. Once seated waitress was prompt but the food wasn't good. They don't use fresh strawberries for their waffles. The eggs weren't that good and the sausage patties weren't either. So today was another interesting experience in this restaurant! To be true to my comments, I don't post often for the good stuff because they are obviously doing their job and that seems to make the situation ok. We eat out a LOT so my standards are high. I waited tables for many years in HS AND through college and I loved every minute of it. So onto the review... This place is a cute place that I have given many many opportunities to. We have had great food, and marginal service at best but after today we obviously won't be going back. FYI: I find Luke to be wonderful and Reggie to be horrible! The others are a hit or miss. The owner is a complete coward and full of himself. Feels he and his staff does no wrong and waste valuable time telling you how good he is and how the food conventions he has trained him to be restaurant certified. If you do speak to him be prepared for this run on as ego takes over. Today I was told that they were loosing too much money on us. This (after another) experience earlier this week when I let them know -at the end of my meal there was a black hair stuck to the plate. I did NOT say anything to anyone to get it free (which wouldn't happen anyway) I had eaten every bite and simply wanted him to know. I literally didn't even see it until I was done. However based on he reviews of his accounting. Firm "Decker and associates" 2-1star reviews, you can surely see his restaurants don't run much better. Again I find him cowardly at best. HE left his server to tell me and didn't even have the professionalism to reach out to me directly! I'd urge you to think twice before you step inside but should you choose to make sure you're prepared for the worst and then whatever above that will be a bonus! read more

It was Sunday morning and was my last day of my visit in Atlanta. My friend usually takes me to J. Christophers to have breakfast. I must have said something to make him find another spot to have breakfast. He found this spot. LOCATION Our map kept on taking us to another parking lot which was right next to the correct parking lot. Once we figured it out, we were there. The restaurant is a little hidden- located deep inside this little plaza. Keep an eye out for the sign near the main road. Careful, it has other business listed on the sign (I'm a little dyslexic so I couldn't find it that easily). PARKING Surrounded by a large parking lot, there were plenty of parking space for everyone. We had no problem looking for parking. Well, at least not at 10am on a Sunday morning. EXTERIOR From the outside, you can see through the large windows that has old white curtains (and when I say "old", I meant something that you would see at your Grandmother's home). The booths are dark green, with walls that are pastel cream and off white in color. Definitely not a modern day type of restaurant, but cozy like you're at home. SERVICE Upon your entry, you enter the front room with a small bar on the left and a podium on the right. There, behind the podium, stood a young lady who seems need a little training about customer service. No greeting nor smile. Just "how many?" She was soft spoken as well- perhaps a little shy. From there she walked us to an area in front of us (there is another space on our right but it seems to be empty) and walked us all the way to the back to a booth. I think she said, "someone will be with you," but she said it while we sat down and through the chatter around us- I honestly think I just assume that she said something since that is usually the common thing a hostess would say once we sat down (I'll give her the benefit of a doubt). Once we sat down and browsed through the menu for a couple of minutes, we were greeted by a sweet lady (I do apologize for forgetting her name). We gave her our drink order in. Once she returned with our drinks, we were ready to order. I had the scrambled eggs, country fried chicken, dry wheat toast and white gravy on the side. I didn't know it came with gritz, but I ate it anyways. My friend had pancakes, sausages, bacon and eggs. At a reasonable time (and when I say "reasonable" I meant not too fast to believe it was freshly-frozen, but not too long to think they're disorganized in the kitchen) our food came out. When she placed my plate down, she noticed that the kitchen didn't serve the gravy on the side, "I just notice they didn't put it to the side. Let me take it back, it'll take just a minute." I was impressed. Instead of hoping that I didn't say anything about it, she took notice of the mistake in front of me and took initiative to correct it right away (it is at this time that I realize, I wanted to come back there to have breakfast and lunch... forever!). The entire time she kept checking in with us, with a smile and sweet voice. She made me wish she could adopt me as her own. FOOD The portion was surprisingly large. The quality was like what my friend said, "home cooked." Everything was perfect. For the first time tasting grits, I would eat it again! Most country fried chicken I have tasted is usually dry and rubbery; not this one. I even had a bit of my friend' pancake. I normally don't like pancakes but my- he was right, it tasted like home cooked! VERDICT I recommend this spot to everyone, for I will return here for breakfast (at least) at my next visit to Atlanta, GA. read more

So tonight I had DoorDash delivery and it was delicious. The pork was tender and juicy and the vegetables were garlicky and nice and crisp. Haven't been in a few years, gave it another try. Glad I did! New owners have been in place a few years and have revitalized everything. Had the Up at Five. Great mix of breakfast favs. Came during the week, so there was moderate traffic, but still seated and served right away. I like that it is not so quiet that you feel compelled to whisper, but also not so loud that you can't have a pleasant conversation. The coffee is not overly strong, but they keep it hot and flowing. I really like the homemade sausage. Eggs scrambled beautifully, not cooked into dry submission. Just a great atmosphere for breakfast: clean, calm but awake, solid food, and friendly service. Hubby & I decided to check this place out since we were close by for my doctors appointment and I regret it. I ordered a Belgian waffle combo which included a scrambled egg and sausage links. I also added a bowl of grits. Hubby got the French toast combo with turkey bacon and a bowl of cheese grits. The food came out within 5 minutes so that's red flag number one. Some people may think that's a good thing but I don't. My husbands grits had a ton of shredded cheese on top that wasn't melted at all and when he tasted them he said the grits were not fully cooked. We motioned over to our waitress and told her the issue, and she said "oh they are done they may just be cold because I gave you guys the last helping which is why your servings are so small since I split them, but he's making more grits now, I'll just take these off the check" Uh excuse me? So you scraped the pot for cold grits, knew they were cold, didn't bother to microwave them and just decided to give us less grits because he was currently working on another batch? What?! After that we were pretty much done. My grits had no taste and were extremely watery. The Belgian waffle was okay but I've made better tasting ones at home and the scrambled egg was overcooked. My husband hated his French toast and said it was just okay and that his turkey bacon tasted like rubber. With all that being said, the restaurant is clean, so for that they get 2 stars. read more

Amazing! This place has a mango "fire" cheddar omelet packed with onions, peppers, and all sorts of goodies. It's a special but it needs to be on the regular menu. Best omelet I've ever had! My boyfriend and I actually tried to come here the following day, but they closed before we got there. I would highly recommend this place and I'll definitely be back. I also ordered the pumpkin pecan French toast which tasted more like a dresser then a breakfast, but it was still good. No syrup necessary.
