Fantastic breakfast! I found this place while paying for coffee at The Original Pancake House... The man next to me and I were sharing stories at how expensive this place was. I was waiting for our table, long wait and the man at the bar recommend this place to me, said great food, great price and no lines. He was right!! I have been eating here for several years. I did not care much for this breakfast eatery prior to the new ownership, but under the new ownership, this place continues to get better and better. Today, there service was so fast that I had only taken a couple sips of my coffee and the food was already being served. It was Hot and cooked perfectly. Had brunch here on Saturday with my Mom. The service was good, I ordered the Artichoke/Sun Dried Tomato/Spinach omelette special & coffee she had the Sunrise omelette with hot tea. The omelettes were very good, hot and fresh. She noticed that they used on off brand tea that was very weak and not very flavorful. I noticed they have Royal Cup coffee which is the cheap coffee they serve free at my work. Uptown Cafe you have a good restaurant that needs great coffee. We went for breakfast on a Tuesday morning at 8:30am. I had the Uptown 5 and my friend had the Uptown Feast. We both ate our fill and had some left. The service was with a smile and the food arrived fast and hot. We were able to sit undisturbed but assisted for our 90 minute meeting. A definite "go to again." read more

Uptown Cafe is a great place for breakfast or lunch. They have a good variety of breakfast foods. Their Belgium waffles are light and fluffy. Lunch menu has a variety of sandwiches, burgers and salads. The staff is friendly and know the names and favorites of the regular customers. Recently they began opening for dinner from Tuesday-Saturday. The menu is totally different during the evening. They have comfort foods like Fried chicken, roasted chicken, Pot Roast, Meatloaf. I have been to a few breakfast/ brunch restaurants such as J. Christopher and First Watch and I have to say that this place is truly a gem and 1 mile away from the house so we usually take any house guest here for breakfast. They have homemade sausage that is pretty awesome, the grits are very creamy and tasty and their biscuits are awesome. We find a way to make it here a few times a month and look forward to it. We have also sent them many customers and there have only been compliments and thank you for sending us there. Great spot indeed!!!! read more

I'd wanted to try this place for a long time, and I finally had the chance a couple of weeks ago. It's a great little greasy spoon that actually wasn't terribly greasy. Our waitress was friendly, the food great, and we got to enjoy it outside on a lovely Saturday morning. Bonus is that the prices are really reasonable for the serving you receive. This place is a local gem..and not what I would consider a greasy spoon at all! The food is fresh & prepped to order. I continually take friends there to try what I deem to be the BEST corned beef hash ever! Half of the times that I have dined there the place was packed and therefore food does take a bit longer but it is worth the wait for the quality & deliciousness. Based on previous reviews we were expecting more. Breakfast was fine if you are close by but not worth going out of your way. Service was pleasant but somewhat absent minded. It was obvious that the "regulars" get better service. Food was standard breakfast fare - nothing out of the ordinary. This place is like trying to rate your grandma's place for Sunday Brunch. Like Grandma's house, sometimes things aren't perfect (things aren't perfect ANYWHERE!) but you are served excellent standards promptly and well with a side of love. My family and I have gone here for almost every Sunday after church since we discovered it in early 2015, just months after moving from Illinois. This place and the people in it feel like our family. They have delicious fluffy pancakes. They have an Up at Five breakfast that has the works! My son-in-law calls it the Up Too Early breakfast. It has eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes and french toast! My almost teenage granddaughter has invented the "Lia Special." It is a scrambled egg and swiss cheese on an English muffin with a side of avocado which she mashes and puts on her sandwich. My twin granddaughters get the same thing every time: grilled cheese on white bread with a side of applesauce. That has been entitled, the "twin special." When we ask for these dishes, the servers KNOW WHAT WE WANT. My four year old granddaughter orders the silver dollar pancakes. She has been known to walk to regular diners tables and offer them one...or two. They always have a board of unique specials. Today they had egg nog french toast and smoked kielbasa omelet with tomato, onions, pepper and cheese, to name just a few! Their bacon is delicious and perfectly cooked and their sausage links? Big, juicy and amazing. The thing about Uptown is that they and the regulars become like your family. If we don't come, they want to know who's sick! There's a lot of hugging that goes on there! The servers are intuitive: they bring extra napkins for our table and will have our coffee waiting for us when we sit down. They are prompt and efficient, but not intrusive. They know what we like and how we like it. Their light bisquits are divine and so are their hamburger and fries! I must admit, however, that I know NOTHING about their desserts. None of us has ever had enough room for dessert. Plenty of parking, great food, fantastic service, and kind people, staff and customers.... Take a retro trip back to Grandma's house. They serve delicious food...with a lot of heart. You want to go where everybody knows your name. This is as close as it gets. read more

A friend and I breakfast here once a week. We usually get the uptown breakfast or the veggie omelet to split. Terry and Denise do an efficient job, always remembering what we usually order, and the food is quickly served, hot and fresh. The portions are large enough that I am totally full after splitting the meal, and I love to eat! A great little breakfast spot. They never bother us although we sit and talk for a good hour after eating. They just stop by to refill coffee and water. I have also had the hamburger for lunch. It was huge and tasty. read more

Uptown used to be our place to go for Sunday breakfast. Hadn't been there in awhile and I'm sad to say we may not go back again. Kitchen could have been stressed, but the place wasn't full...disappointed: poached eggs were undercooked, coffee was lukewarm (first cup and even the refill), bacon was asked to be cooked well done and pretty much came out raw, pancakes weren't done in the center. All around pretty crummy. Service was decent, but that's about it. I typically only put reviews in if they are stellar or if they just fall short of "crummy". First visit. Not my last. This is well kept secret that needs exposure. It is difficult to find but worth the effort. At the intersection of Old Alabama and Nesbit Ferry. The place is clean and plenty of room and not busy. Staff is friendly and anxious to please. Waitress was excellent. Attentive and cheerful. Rest of he staff is hustling. I got my over medium eggs perfectly cooked. Hash browns were more than expected and done well with crunch on the outside. Two sausage links were excellent. Sometimes it is hard to rate a simple breakfast but I enjoyed this one. Will be back to try the lunch menu. Sandwiches look inviting. We ate here tonight and what a disappointment! Formerly just a breakfast place, I had never eaten here but my wife has. She always enjoyed breakfast. Just added dinner to their menu. We were excited there would be another local restaurant within 10 minutes of Home to enjoy dinner out. The reviews for the new dinner service were all good. Wine menu is pricey for a small cafe with little to no atmosphere. Cheapest glass of wine was jug wine for $6.50. All other wines were closer to $10/glass and above. Too much! We ordered the $6.50 glass. Definitely cheap jug wine. Entrees were pricey, again for a small cafe with no atmosphere. Average dish was $15 with steaks more than that. Meatloaf for $15+???? We didn't order the chicken parm but it cost more than Bambinellis 2 minutes down the street that is served with family recipe sauce and can be enough food to be eaten for 3 meals! We had grilled chick sandwiches with not so good French fries. Just not very good. Won't be going back. Again, big disappointment! read more
