I don't think the drinks are as good as Aldo down the street, but Uptown has a much more laid-back and relaxed vibe than the Aldo circus. Maybe it was the time of day, but it seemed like the staff were a little less than thrilled to help us. When we asked for details on a drink, I had the feeling we were taking away from their valuable time for them to answer a question. Staff is friendly and helpful. Cute place for coffee, however, not a good place to get any work done. It's been steadily busy since setting up shop at 1130. Normally I don't mind but the people are so loud that I couldn't even listen to my class lectures at maximum headphone volume. So I gave up on listening to lectures and moved on to computer work. Forget using the Internet. Trouble shot for 30 minutes and still couldn't get anywhere. Google was the only website that would work. Nothing else. But when I used my phone, off of their wifi, I was able to access everything I needed. Very frustrating. Probably won't come back solely due to it not being an ideal environment to work in like every other cafe I frequent. read more

This is such a great spot in the heart of Mt. Lebanon. Their vanilla nut flavored coffee is delicious and a must try when it's available. The staff is super friendly and there's an array of seating options (large tables, small tables, couches, overstuffed chairs, etc.) to accommodate any size group. read more

I like Uptown Coffee! They're like the "little guy" to the one down the street but they've got a much cooler vibe. They have a bakery on site and have some killer treats. I just wished they would brew their ice coffee a little stronger. I hate it when coffee joints just stick a batch of regular coffee in the fridge. It needs to be brewed via the seeping process, people!!! That way, I can stop paying for the shot of espresso, which is sometimes "one toke over the line" for me. Friendly staff, though. Beware: they get nuts around 3:30 when the local grade schools let out for the day. Nice folks, good coffee. read more

Meh. The regular coffee is dark and bitter to my taste. The place seems kind of dirty and tables sticky. Staff serves you but doesn't make you feel very welcome. There is free internet. The place has a bit of an eclectic vibe. All in all, for a good tasting coffee in a relatively clean place with free internet, McDonald's would be my preference. read more

Great local coffee shop. Smart and attentive staff. The coffees, teas and cold drinks are all delicious. My favorite is their house ice tea in the summer and hot chocolate in the colder months. The bake all their pastries, cakes and cookies in-house and they are fantastic! But get there early on the weekends to try their pecan rolls. I must credit the many hours I spent at Uptown preparing for both my HESI and NCLEX examination to finally becoming a registered nurse. If you have time during the weekdays, Uptown provides a perfect, ambient space for studying; both solo and for small study groups. It is cozy and quaint, but also spacious enough to serve as a great meeting place for various purposes. Their coffee's and teas are good quality & variety, however I am not a huge fan of their baked goods. On two different occasions I tried different types of cookies but thought that they all tasted somewhat stale. It could totally just be me though, because most people I know love their cookies. My only suggestions are that they try to regulate the amount of middle/high school kids that come in there and loiter after they get out of school and on the weekends. From 3-5pm during the weekdays there would be a ridiculous amount of kids with backpacks coming in and taking up multiple tables, being extremely loud, and maybe one out of the whole group would actually purchase anything. Even with headphones on I would get distracted and sometimes not be able to find a table. read more

There is everything in the world to love about Uptown Coffee! Whether you are a passing patron or one of their many regulars, anyone who walks into Uptown experiences the same "Cheers" sort of warmth and welcome. The coffee is delicious! I've tried a good portion of the offerings, sometimes enjoying a latte and sometimes just grabbing a quick cup of black coffee, and I can vouch that everything they make is the best I've had. They have a huge selection of both coffee and non-coffee drinks, but don't be afraid to come up with your own creation. The pastries are also fabulous! My favorite is the pecan bars! Seating space is rarely a problem, save for days when there is a community event. My kids and I frequently bring games and spend hours there, playing board games and enjoying warm drinks. Uptown Coffee is a wonderful independent coffee house! With friendly staff, welcoming ambience, and delicious coffee and baked goods, it is one of the best I've ever been to. read more

This is one of my favorite places to just hang out with friends. Though I have to admit, I've never actually tried their coffee (I don't like coffee), but the other drinks I've had here are pretty good. They had excellent home made deserts. I love Uptown Coffee and will miss it dearly when I move out of the neighborhood later this month. Their coffee and homemade baked goods are excellent. The staff is friendly and prompt in making your drink. They are open relatively late. The atmosphere is warm and great for working on my laptop (free wifi and lots of tables, almost all of which have easy access to electrical outlets) or for just sitting and chatting. There is usually a good crowd but it doesn't get quite as noisy as some of my other favorite coffee shops in Pittsburgh. I will say that the wifi reception is much better in the back than in front by the door and they sometimes could use to wipe down the tables and chairs a little more frequently, but these are minor gripes. read more
