I'm secretly a silent partner. Love the food, love the waitress, and especially love the cook. I'm here every day, rain or shine.

I remember when this space was Serafina, which felt familiar from my years in New York, where I…read moreused to go fairly often, sometimes after visits to the Met. Serafina was good. The Love is better. The space is beautiful, the service is consistently warm, and Stephen Starr's fingerprints are all over it. I love the painted white brick, the floral artwork along the walls, the street-level energy, and the outdoor seating. I also remember taking the elevator upstairs once. I can't remember whether we actually stayed and ate up there or asked to move back downstairs, but the space was charming and extremely private. It would be a great setting for a group dinner or event. Personally, I prefer downstairs. It's darker, livelier, and I like being at street level. The menu historically leaned more heavily into elevated Southern comfort food, which has never been my favorite style of cooking. That's probably why I've tended to prefer The Love for lunch over dinner, especially when Philadelphia has so many Starr restaurants competing for the same night out. I used to get what I remember as a salmon and farro bowl, although the menu appears to have evolved since then. Whatever the exact iteration was, I loved it. Fish and farro are both right in my wheelhouse. I've also enjoyed the kale salad and other lighter dishes. The thing I remember most vividly, though, is the cornbread. It is outrageously good and reason enough to order something for the table. I also give Starr credit for continuing to broaden the range of food styles in his portfolio. Once you've built restaurants across Italian, French, Mexican, English, steakhouses, seafood, and the rest, there are only so many obvious boxes left to check. The Love feels like its own lane: distinctly American, approachable, comfort-driven, and still polished enough to feel like a Starr restaurant. Looking at the menu now, it seems broader than I remember, with more options that appeal to me, and I'd be psyched to go back. The Love probably isn't the first Starr restaurant I'd choose purely based on cuisine, but that says more about the depth of his Philadelphia portfolio than it does about this restaurant. The room, hospitality, location, and execution are all excellent. I'd happily come here any day. Starr doesn't miss.

FANTASTIC place. Totally recommend and would absolutely go back…read more Easy to make a reservation over the phone and our party of 5 was welcomed and brought to our table upstairs. The upstairs area has a chill vibe with some Mario-themed art as well as a TV. It seems that the kitchen is upstairs, so a lot of waiters were flying by out table to the staircase. Our waiter was pretty chill. Apparently an O's fan, he was excited to learn we're from Baltimore. Food was all fantastic. The style of fries isn't my preference, but they were decent. Other than that, I was blown away. Child #1 and Child #2 got some items from the Kids' menu - grilled cheese and cheeseburger. Bread and Butter appetizer. Is it expensive for just being bread and butter? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes. The homemade bread is great, but combine it with honey butter with flaky salt, and it's incredible. Loads of reviews on Yelp talked about the sausage roll. GET IT. It's greasy and filling in all the right ways. Goes great with a beer. My wife got the burger and she found it to be very tasty. I got the Grilled Maitake Mushrooms dish and holy cow; it's perfect. Even if you're not a vegetarian (I'm not), you can appreciate this dish: crispy rice cake (not the dry kind from the store), tender baby bok choy, and of course the well-cooked mushrooms are tied together with black vinegar, garlic-whipped tofu (!), and a peanut sauce. A++ would absolutely get again. The food menu has some staples, but overall it does change nightly, so make sure you check it out before you come. Apparently, on Sundays, they do a different experimental flavor of wings. I was curious, but my stomach has only so much room, so I had to draw the line. There is a respectable drink menu. My wife got the blood orange mezcalita, which she liked, but thought the smoke flavor was more subtle than described. I got the Plum Fizz and would totally get it again. Pleasantly-sour with a nice fizz. It's a nice pub in a nice neighborhood of a major city - be prepared for prices to match. But it is absolutely worth it.

When we happened to park in front of it while looking for a quick meal, I suggested we try something new. We are both happy we did! The restaurant was bright and chill, with a kind of urban-hipster vibe. The gentleman who assisted us was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing -- so fresh and delicious! I got a Custom Dig Protein Bowl with Crispy Tofu, Herbed Rice, Cheesy Cauliflower, and Roasted Sweet Potatoes w/Hot Honey Sauce. My daughter got a kids' custom bowl with salmon, brown rice, and carrots, and couldn't stop raving about how good it was (especially the salmon). There are beverages available for purchase, as well as complimentary water, which we appreciated. The only reason I can't bring myself to give 5 stars is because our table was a little sticky and the silverware was not clean. It seemed clean enough otherwise, though; so I would probably give 4.5 stars if I could. I'd welcome the opportunity to dine here again, for sure!

Been loving going here since they opened their location in U-City, but just happened to be visiting the Ardmore area today around lunch. Staff are super friendly and helpful. They ran out of broccoli, but I was then able to wait a few minutes and get it piping hot out of a fresh batch. Portions were a bit smaller than I was expecting, but nevertheless, it was still a filling and delicious lunch! There's quite a bit of indoor seating here, but I opted to sit outside in one of the common Suburban Square seating areas.

From the very beginning, Gina went above and beyond to ensure my daughter's bridal shower was absolutely perfect--and it truly was. She reached out to me several times on her own to check in, answer questions, and reassure me that no matter what the weather brought, she would make sure we were accommodated, whether indoors or outdoors. Gina even gave me her personal cell phone number and told me to call her anytime if I needed anything. Every time I reached out, she responded immediately with professionalism, kindness, and genuine enthusiasm. She made me feel like no request was too much trouble. On the day of the event, Gina exceeded every expectation. She personally provided directions for unloading and arranged for her staff to help carry in all of my decorations. Her positive attitude never wavered. She never responded with "no" or "I can't." Instead, she focused on finding solutions and making everything work. Nearly 40 guests attended the shower, and so many of them commented on how beautiful and perfectly organized everything was. I honestly could not have pulled it off without Gina's support, guidance, and willingness to help every step of the way. Lola's Garden is fortunate to have someone like Gina Picciano leading your team. She is an exceptional manager, a true professional, and a tremendous asset to your restaurant. Employees like Gina are the reason customers return and enthusiastically recommend your establishment to others. Please accept my sincere gratitude and recognize Gina for the remarkable job she did. She helped make a very special day for our family one we will always remember. Sincerely. Elizabeth D'Andrea
