we just order from this place a grilled chicken sandwich, not only the portions are very very small; I paid a full price of a chicken sandwich and got a very tinny piece of chicken best, like a 5th portion on it. it was hard, undercooked and when I called, they said they changed their policy and now they dont cook the chicken well???? whatever she said didn't make any sense to me. Not sure why I haven't been here before, driven by many times, and am now sad this hasn't been one of my regular burger stops. These oversized hand-pattied burgers are started on the char-grill and finished with a light smash on the flat top. Cooked to order. Cooked to your specifications. I went with the bacon/cheese, which is also topped with jalapenos, bbq sauce and thick onion rings. The toasted brioche bun is bakery soft, but still substantial enough to comfortably hold the heft of the sandwich. The meat on it's own has a superb beef taste, and I watched the cooks diligently checking the temps of the patty to make sure it came up to standards. The fries? Superb. Fresh cut, fried until crispy, properly seasoned. I get so bummed going to a restaurant that uses extruded fries, that mashed potato slurry in the shape of a fry doused with secret seasoning. I know they're inexpensive for the operator and fry fast, but come on! These babies taste like potatoes! Have the texture of potatoes! Because they are potatoes! Sitting outside for lunch in December? Heck yeah! These are 6+ napkin burgers, not even kidding! The cheeseburgers we ate were so juicy, tender and thick. I just wish I would have ordered mine medium though because the medium rare was a little too much on the rare side for me. The burger style reminded me of Wise Guys or Meatheads, but juicier. The French fries were hot and crispy natural cut fries and salted just right. The burgers are on very soft and fresh buns too, like a brioche roll. It's a Convenient stop because it is connected to a gas station and convenient store and on the corner of Algonquin and Roselle roads. Easy in and out of the parking. The place looks clean and spacious inside and they were fairly busy around lunch time on a Monday. We ate outside at a table on the patio. I appreciated the digital soda pop machine was well stocked too. I've seen these machines at other restaurants but they always seem to be out of order or have limited drinks available. I went here for the first time thanks to Yelp and I ordered the bacon and cheddar burger (without the bbq sauce and jalapeños). The burger was very good, A large portion and reasonably priced but overcooked (I would order medium rare next time I usually do instead of medium). The fries were fresh and delicious. The mushroom burger was good as well. The ambiance is nice and well maintained but is inside the gas station and near a very busy corner of Algonquin and Roselle Road. The format is quite simple, griddle burgers done to order. I had the bacon burger which was completely loaded with BBQ sauce cheddar and jalapeno spread. It's exactly what I look for when I want a burger, savory and messy - AND HUGE!. The tots were better than the fries as they had good crunch. And you have your choice of fountain drink as well with the coke Freestyle machine (within the usual convenience store side of the restaurant). I saw another customer order chicken tenders, the pieces looked huge and delicious! But I have no idea how that guy was able to finish a huge burger and the tenders. I think the value is great. Think of this...a made to order, thick half lb burger, with great combinations, toasted brioche bun, thick thick cut bacon, BBQ sauce, onion ring. Urban Counter has made it a destination for me for burgers. It does take time for the food to cook since the patty is so huge and the toppings are complex. What an interesting concept for a burger, right inside a gas station. They do this in the south with like bbq joints but rarely do I see this up here. We came just before lunch time and ordered burger, tater tots and a drink. The burgers are made to order so it took awhile as there were a few orders ahead of us. This was my first time coming back here after the Elite Experience, and I decided to up my game. Instead of the black bean burger, I opted for the house-made turkey burger, and it did NOT disappoint. Like a symphony, everything this burger had in it worked in perfect concert in my mouth. Hot, juicy, with the right amount of spice, and just enough sauciness to dribble out on your hand. It wasn't just a boring bland turkey burger, it was a burger to remember, and remember fondly. When I stopped by, they were not open for dining - and multiple signs were posted to inform everyone of this. That said, this gas station is like what you get when you cross a college student union with a hotel's breakfast café and a minor league baseball team's concessions area. Not only was there a place to sit and wait for my order (perfection does take ten minutes or so), but aside from the typical gas station aisles of nuts, chips, and candy, or the walls of drinks (and beer cave), this place has a Coke Freestyle, a coffee station, a froyo machine, a slurpee machine, an OATMEAL machine, fresh fruit, baked goods, and so much more for the grab n' go type shopper. As stated, I was not planning on being a grab n' goer, but with their facilities closed, I took my turkey on the road. You know those scenes in movies, where the characters are looking around in Grandma's attic, or rifling through their dead mentor's desk, and they find a box or a case or whatever that makes them pause and open it? And then - WOW - it's a baseball signed by Babe Ruth's mom, or it's an unrecorded deed to the family's house altering the chain of title (!), and it's in perfect condition and everything is great?! That's what it was like opening the clamshell container to get to my burger. Never before has a burger looked so much like "picture-of-a-burger.jpg," but this one unequivocally DID. I live close by, and, food was delivered hot. Everything was good. Wife wasn't a huge fan of her turkey sausage. I thought their normal sausage was good; although, a little bland. They both could have had more meat but the taste of the sandwiches were great. We also got cheese fries and was happily surprised to find out the cheese sauce was jalapeno cheese. This is our new go to place for burgers moving forward. This place doesn't disappoint! Firstly it's inside the new bp gas station on the corner. Ok, Don't get squeamish about this - it's worth trying as you'll be coming back for sure! There is plenty of parking. The inside is kept very clean and booths and tables are comfortable to dine in. You don't even feel like your inside a gas station. This restaurant is off to the the right side and doesn't really come in contact with the gas station staff or store. The staff is super friendly and helpful in answering questions. We ordered the classic burgers so we could judge against the local competitors. The burgers are freshly made of ground steak to order and weigh in at a hearty 1/2 pound! You can order rare, medium, well variations etc... The seasoning and grilling was beautifully and perfectly done. The cheese was very good quality and melted like butter on the burgers. We loved the warmed fluffy brioche buns that complimented the burger. This is the BEST burger in the burbs hands down! You get a handsome amount of crisp hot fries in the regular size. They have the red Coke machine whereby you can mix over 100+ varieties of pop to your own personalization. We also tried the vanilla shake made with nice premium ice cream. I used to be a regular customer here, but will likely not go back again. The food is very good....regularly have the salads and burgers and all of our family likes the food. The problem is that the service is terrible. The turnover of the staff is large...I rarely see the same faces there for longer than a month. Sometimes the staff is competent, but frequently it's not, leading to long waits for food even when there aren't many other orders ahead of me, and food being prepared incorrectly...making the wrong orders or making the order incorrectly. Just got the worse sandwich of 2021 .
