My company department Kaiser Permanent provided our Thanksgiving and Christmas luncheon through Urban Plates. the food was excellent. We each pre-selected 1 meal (chicken, steak, or tofu), and our managers picked up the orders and brought them to the clinics. I chose the steak plate, and it was delicious--well-seasoned, tender, and very filling. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and it felt like a real treat at work. Definitely a great choice for individual meal orders and group appreciation events. read more

Looking for a spot in Brea California that offers Vegan options as well as other foods, this might be the place. The chimichurri was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The Tofu topped with a mild and flavorful chili sauce was delicious. The portions are a bit small but priced accordingly. They also offer some wines and other specialty drinks. There's ample indoor seating for large groups and a patio area with heated lamps. read more

Overall, the food was good, the surface was great, and the obvious was wonderful and cozy! There was plenty of seating and parking. The folks working there were really nice! For a long period of time I had foolishly dismissed and avoided this restaurant for one reason or another. Quite frankly, I don't even know what the reason(s) were, but I simply never gave it a try. My lady recommended I let the bad feelings go and give it a try, so we took the machine for a cruise and tried it out.. I was blown away at the size of the facility. Plenty of indoor and covered patio seating. Very clean and modern location. The cheeseburger reminded me of a solid backyard BBQ style burger. The grilled chicken plate with macaroni and cheese was definitely better tasting than it looked. The macaroni and cheese, while plain, was an excellent side choice. The grass fed steak was cooked to medium rare perfection, full of flavor and very tender. The hummus was an unfortunate upset. Flavor was there, but to me, it was not the right flavor one would be seeking. I wish they had broccoli for a side choice. Rumor has it that they once did, but the cashier told me its not the broccoli season apparently.. I will say the gentlemen working the counter were very friendly. Heavy respects to the guy dealing with the grandmas and grandpas. I was hurting for him as they were playing their games, but he trucked through it like a champ. read more

Every time we eat at or order delivery from urban plates I feel that my family is happy with the flavorful options, all the while eating healthy food that makes me feel accomplished as a parent trying to teach good choices and balanced eating. As we all have varied diets within the family (dairy free, vegetarian, and meat fanatics) we all have options that we can enjoy. The service and decor are great too. I'm a loyal customer for this location for past few years because of the food quality and friendly staffs, they provide wonderful customer services throughout the years. My wife has the plate pass membership since the first day of this program. Since then, we ordered food from this location almost once or twice a week continuously. Each time, no matter dining in or take out, I was greeted with my wife's name by the staff all the time. They made me feel like home each time when I come to the restaurant. Not only the service is number one in the franchise, the food they made is number one in the franchise in both quality and quantity compared with other locations. I gave this place a few chances, but the quality of their food is terrible. I've tried their salad, sandwich, and plates. The meat always looks and tastes undercooked, and the portion gets smaller each time. The only good thing here is their chocolate vanilla cake, even though it costs $8.25 for a slice. There's a 3% surcharge added to every order, which is ridiculous when their prices are already high and the food isn't good. I saw a few other reviews mention the surcharge and people are upset about this. They should get rid of it or they will lose more customers. read more

Food here is so freaking good, I always get the chimichurri steak plate with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Steak is always cooked perfectly (med rare) and the side dishes always taste so fresh. I also decided to get the tomato bisque soup and that also hit really well, the texture is perfect, not too thin and not overly thick. Dipping the bread that comes with the steak plate in their soups is a really good combo. Service is also pretty good, cashier and server with glasses (unfortunately didn't get his name) were friendly and a worker named Francisco came over to check up on us, very friendly guy as well. The dining room is really spacious and clean although during my visit it was a bit chilly in there that I had to put on my sweater to keep myself from getting too cold. I didn't say anything about it only because I'm assuming they need to keep it at a certain temperature. In conclusion, I really like this place and the food they serve, I will continue to come back. :) read more

This is my favorite new place. It is a very well conceived restaurant! The staff is really nice and the food is healthy and high quality at a reasonable price. How do they do that? They emphasize quality over quantity. The portions are filling, but not huge. I'd rather sacrifice a little quantity for better quality. Also, it sounds trivial, but you actually get "real" paper napkins here, rather than the toilet paper thin napkins provided at most place now. After a few meals, I joined their plate pass program which gives you 20% off your entire bill, including their chef specials that are already discounted. The plate pass costs $60 per year, but I think you get a $15 gift card/credit with that plus the 20% discount. I live nearby, so I come here at least a few times a month, so it is worth it for me to to be in this program. read more

I ordered my food through Uber Eats. I got the steak plate with mashed potatoes w/gravy and garlic parmesan mushrooms. The steak plate came with a rustic bread. The meal was about $20. The mashed potatoes with gravy cost $1 extra. The meal was good overall. The steak was tender and juicy, but only came with 4 pieces of meat. The bread wasn't toasted, misleading picture on the website. The mashed potatoes were okay, a little creamy but needed more flavor. The gravy was disgusting, watery and tasteless! I shouldn't have poured the gravy on the mashed potatoes, ruined the creamy taste. The mushrooms were good, a little too salty but worked well with the steak. I would try the restaurant in person, perhaps it would be better portioned and tasting. read more

Although our brief interaction with cashier and server were pleasant the entire experience felt focused on a CONSUMER rather than a CUSTOMER. The food was good.However it lacked any Luster. Got their Wild Ahi Niçoise Salad which comes with organic artisan lettuce, tamari marinated and seared wild ahi tuna, green beans, organic egg, organic tomatoes, potatoes, capers, marinated olives, and my favorite is their light and tangy mustard-champagne vinaigrette which gives everything a touch of acid and compliments the ahi perfectly My husband enjoyed his salmon plate which came with two sides and he got the Roasted Brussels Sprouts which come in a light Balsamic Glaze and the Herb Roasted Marble Potatoes which come in garlic, basil, dill & chives which gives an otherwise starchy veg a nice fresh flavor. I also got their lemonade which was really refreshing although a little too sweet for my palate. Despite the proteins being made fresh to order, the wait was reasonable. It's a little loud inside, but they also have two outdoor seating areas, one in front of the restaurant and one out back. The food isn't the most flavorful, but I wouldn't say it's bland or anything, and I think the primary purpose when eating here is to be healthy. I get the kid's steak to be a little more easy on the wallet and the calories. The balsamic Brussels sprouts are very nice. Steak is a little tough. read more

I sent the Benedict back but Asked to keep the rest of the food because I was hungry. The girl ignored my Request, Took my entire plate and did not return with the other food on it. I literally waited 10 minutes for them to redo the eggs while my partner finished his breakfast and I had nothing to eat. The Hollandaise sauce was Very Good, but ham on the Benedict was incredibly thin. I've had many eggs Benedict and this was unusual to offer A slice of ham comparable to a thin deli slice. My partner's omelette Was quite Brown but had good veggies in it. His hashbrowns were barely cooked. Today We both ordered a veggie omelette with chicken in my partner's. I made it very clear that my veggie omelette should not be Brown (= overcooked) . The girl read Back our order and she wrote My request very clearly. What arrived at our table was quite a shock! My omelette was definitely Brown and my partner's omelette was dark Brown. My brown omelette had chicken (his order) and his omelette was actually my order and dark brown! I've never seen an omelette served that was that overcooked! How could they possibly ignore the instructions and mixed them up? Add to this that his toast was burnt. Really? You can't prepare Toast properly? When I brought it to their attention one of the girls she said I could see how you might think that as I showed her the burnt toast. She said we have already put everything away in the kitchen and so I don't know that we can do anything about it. We said it would be fine if it's an English muffin but, something that's not burnt. She disappeared into the kitchen for quite a while. Eventually when she resurfaced she brought the unevenly toasted bread, (But not burnt) and proceeded to tell us the following: " If you would get here earlier (We arrived 40 min before closing) we could serve you better" ( I later realized Those must be words from the owner). So if I arrive earlier my food wont be overcooked?Or if I arrive earlier they Have time to correct their mistakes? I knew the kitchen closes at 1:40. Waiting at the counter To ask about soup, I stood for 5 + minutes watching 5 employees move about. Finally I was able to ask and waited another minute or so while she went to go to the Back to ask. Now in line to order the man before me was trying to order (before 1:40) a vegan omelette. The girl said it was too late. He explained he had driven all the way from Riverside and it was still within the timeframe to order. She went back into the kitchen and a woman came out. (the owner? ) . The woman proceeded to chastise the young man for coming in late and trying to order a vegan omelette. She told him he'd done this before and he should get here earlier. He explained that he had not actually ordered but had tried. She said several times that she would make an exception this time but it can't happen again. And she continued to chastise him. Who treats their customers like this? .I literally watched the minutes tick by, wondering if I'd make it before the cutoff. More people entered. . Ah oh, do they know about the cutoff in 1 minute?? The girl behind the counter announced that no more orders would be taken after 1:45. Aw, they were being generous by allowing five more minutes to order. But there's no way these people could get their order in within the next five minutes. Will they say, too late, After they've been waiting in Line? Why not say instead, our kitchen is closing but we will be happy to take your orders. And why not hang a sign on the door that says the kitchen is closed at 1:40 But still accommodate diners's needs? The omelette tasted good but the experience was so negative, Such unkindness, Completely lacking in hospitality.

Bite into one, "CRUNCH!" and you have what they feel like. Dip 'em in ketchup, or tzaziki, or GARLIC SAUCE, or not at all! I ate a lot of them. I also tried my friend's garlic sauce. I am SO going to have to order some of that to go because it can go with ANYTHING! Pita brea, fish, French fries, wraps (yum!), chicken, shrimp, lobster, beef, lamb, it's too creamy and yummy! Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences we've had. We were seated on the patio and waited for 15 minutes without a single employee approaching our table. Not one server, host, or staff member stopped by to acknowledge us, offer water, or even let us know someone would be with us shortly. We actually timed it from the moment we sat down until the moment we left. What made the situation even more frustrating was that we were seated in the middle of the patio in plain sight. We watched multiple servers and staff members standing around the service station, chatting, sipping drinks, and looking around. Meanwhile, guests who were seated after us had their orders taken, received water, and were even served appetizers before anyone acknowledged our existence. For a restaurant charging premium prices, this level of service is completely unacceptable. On Father's Day of all days, when families are trying to enjoy a special meal together, the lack of attention and basic hospitality was astonishing. After 15 minutes, with my husband and son both hungry and frustrated, I walked up to what appeared to be the manager or owner and informed her that we were leaving because no one had come to our table. Her response was that she "wasn't aware." Frankly, that's not an acceptable answer. If you're managing or owning a restaurant, knowing whether your guests are being taken care of is part of the job. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally, dining at everything from small local establishments to high-end restaurants around the world. Out of the countless places I have visited, this experience easily ranks among my top 20 worst restaurant experiences. Not because the food was bad--we never even had the opportunity to order--but because the complete lack of service and awareness was that shocking. To make matters worse, after leaving, we went to North Italia. Within a few minutes of being seated, a server greeted us, acknowledged the Father's Day rush, offered us bread, and genuinely seemed concerned when we explained what had just happened. That simple act of hospitality immediately changed the tone of our afternoon. That is how a restaurant should be operated. That is what good management, training, and customer service look like. You make guests feel welcome, valued, and taken care of--even on one of the busiest dining days of the year. This restaurant, unfortunately, did the exact opposite. We left disappointed, hungry, and genuinely stunned by how poorly the situation was handled. Will we return? Absolutely not. There are far too many restaurants that appreciate their customers and understand the basics of hospitality for us to ever give this place another chance.

I also got the wet fries with gravy ($6.75) which was just fries topped with their gravy. I didn't realize just how big the portions were but it was a huge pile of fries. The interior reminded me of an old school diner. When I arrived there was a long line for the drive through, but ordering inside I got my food within minutes of ordering. The portions were great for the price and the pastrami was tender. I'd be interested in their other offerings.
