This was my first time visiting Urban Plates. The decor is sleek and modern with some farmhouse charm. Staff was young and friendly, and the self-order system was easy to navigate. I really liked the outdoor patio, with plenty of seating and even a dog-friendly area. The food, though, was a bit underwhelming. Portion sizes were small for the price. Just two slices of tofu and a mini corn on the cob, both of which were surprisingly spicy. Not ideal. Vegetarian and vegan options were limited (just two), and the dessert menu was pretty sparse too. I love this place because it reminds me of Tender greens. I feel like this place is even better than tender greens. Meats and sides are way fresher and better quality. We ordered steak with chimichurri and sides were Parmesan mushrooms and hummus and I added on some mushroom stuffing. Ok so the stuffing super dry and no flavor so yeah I think it's seasonal but I won't order that again. lol but everything else was yum. I'm excited to ordered different meats next time and sides. My wife and I were there last Thursday (April 30th) and had a great experience. My wife had the beet salad, and I had the grass-fed steak, and it was great as usual. What stood out was the incredible customer service the that was given by Jay, and Fidel. My wife had some questions about other menu items for our next visit, and they went above and beyond taking care of her, answering question, offering samples of what she was asking about, and then sent her home with a nice treat. Stuff like that doesn't happen much anymore. We're happy to see that there are still people out there that still want to provide great customer service. And they did! Great job guys! It's peaceful, clean, and perfect for getting work done without distractions. Then the food comes out and it shifts the whole experience. It tastes like it came from a five star kitchen. I'm serious. I ordered the chef spotlight plate with two chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and balsamic glazed Brussels sprouts. The chicken was so juicy it caught me off guard. Like first bite and I had to pause. Plenty of indoor and covered patio seating. Very clean and modern location. The cheeseburger reminded me of a solid backyard BBQ style burger. The grilled chicken plate with macaroni and cheese was definitely better tasting than it looked. The macaroni and cheese, while plain, was an excellent side choice. The grass fed steak was cooked to medium rare perfection, full of flavor and very tender. The hummus was an unfortunate upset. Flavor was there, but to me, it was not the right flavor one would be seeking. I wish they had broccoli for a side choice. Rumor has it that they once did, but the cashier told me its not the broccoli season apparently.. I will say the gentlemen working the counter were very friendly. And the banana cream pie is to DIE for....so creamy, perfectly balanced, and honestly one of the best desserts we've had! I gave this place a few chances, but the quality of their food is terrible. I've tried their salad, sandwich, and plates. The meat always looks and tastes undercooked, and the portion gets smaller each time. The only good thing here is their chocolate vanilla cake, even though it costs $8.25 for a slice. There's a 3% surcharge added to every order, which is ridiculous when their prices are already high and the food isn't good. I saw a few other reviews mention the surcharge and people are upset about this. They should get rid of it or they will lose more customers. read more
