I love the simplicity of the food here! It's healthy, they've got good choices. I've eaten at the restaurant, the atmosphere is clean and friendly, and have gotten a to-go from here. I would say this is the perfect lunch spot or food to get when you're busy but want to keep it healthy! Some may not agree with liking the gluten-free bread, but I do! I got the salmon with balsamic glazed Brussels and plain broccolinis with bread today! The Brussels are super good, but the broccolinis taste and smells like chemicals a bit, not sure why. Other than that, everything tastes and looks great! Service is good, I would still recommend this place to everyone!

The good - Good quality ingredients (i.e. free range chicken, grass fed beef) Vegan options, colorful vegetables Usually fast service The bad - Portion size was small Dark industrial vibe My nephew who is a healthy vegan was in town and took me to lunch here. This is a good place for him and I since I eat anything good. He had the beet salad plus added some grilled tofu. He said it what he often gets when he is Urban Plates for the taste and it's fairly healthy. I had the cup of soup and half grilled chicken sandwich. Taste was good, and liked that it was free range chicken. That means the chickens can run around and pick at the bugs and worms when they are outside, reducing the unhealthy diet of grains with linoleic acid common in conventional chicken that increase inflammation and other issues. I also had the chowder which was served lukewarm, and i prefer it hot and the portion size of both soup and sandwich are less than in similar sandwich shops. Tase was good. This is located in a busy minim mall with the huge Curtis Matthes furniture store across the street and in the same building as drive through Starbucks. Traffic gets pretty crazy at times. We used the entryway self service kiosk which was fast, but when the machine asked for a ticket number, they didn't have any. I had to go track them down (ALL of them were at the front register). The place at 2:00 PM after the lunch rush on a Friday was still kind of crowded with all but one booth taken which we grabbed. Some of the tables weren't cleaned off. The cement floor and kind of dark interior with the high ceilings and vent pipes and sprinklers gave an industrial-ish vibe. It was a decent time and meal overall. I truly admire that they have some anti-fast food practices, like limiting the fried foods in oil and featuring healthier options, i.e. organic vegetables.

WOW! My family and I eat out a lot (#foodielife), and all over Riverside, San Diego, LA, and Orange Counties... And my meal tonight at Urban Plates is easily one of the best two meals I've had out this year. AND it was completely affordable!!!! I would describe Urban Plates as HIGH END farm to table fresh real food at Chili's prices. Great service here - We ordered at the kiosk when you walked in and food was at our table within 10 minutes. Chill environment Where you can bring your family or you can come work on your laptop here with music at a decent Level that's not taking away from conversation at the table but adds to the Great ambiance. They were eight of us tonight and plenty of space everywhere. I had the steak and shrimp platter with the quinoa and the carrots and beets. I also got to try the beet and goat cheese salad when my wife was full, And of course my kids had to pay the dad tax with some french fries and a bite of their chicken tenders. Legit... ALL delish. 12/10 definitely recommend. Bring your family here and enjoy a great meal for a great price.

Food here is ALWAYS DELICIOUS!! Honestly why go anywhere else? Can't go wrong with organic & grassfed ! The only beef I have is @urbanplates can you please open a location in Glendora or San Dimas or very nearby ? Lol I can only go when here in Irvine or I have to drive yonder's to Pasadena... My favorite all time Moroccan chicken bowl !!! The chimichurri steak is good too The beet salad simple but yummy Today we had a strawberry dragonfruit refresher soooo refreshing yummmmm I need seconds lol Truly one of the best restaurants in SoCal ! But the San Gabriel Valley needs one STAT ! Service was super friendly and attentive from everyone we had contact with while we dined from cashier Jose to server who brought our food to those preparing food. They said thank you on our way out. Love the variety of healthy choices at Urban Plates. They're both delicious and filling. The staff were very nice and helpful as this was our first visit. The ambiance is inviting, airy and cozy with both indoor and outdoor seatings. They do charge a 3% COVID up charge. Highly recommended!

I love Urban Plates because the majority of their ingredients are certified organic. I am always impressed by the portions and the price. Some may say it's expensive, but you're getting a large quantity of food and high level quality. I have been to other locations before, but this was my first time at Urban Plates at the Tustin Marketplace. There are so many food options in this shopping center, but we chose Urban Plates for their mouth watering options. I love the fact you can get a meal that is all sides - and they have meat, veggie or even vegan options. All of their food is so delicious. I personally love the Thai Salad. It's a huge portion (enough for 2 meals) and costs under $20. Plus, you can get a side of their rustic bread too. Also, they have a water station, friendly staff, and the most satisfying desserts. You can get cake, cookies, bars, etc. We splurged and tried all their cookies and the Cowgirl Cookie stole the show! The restaurant inside was huge and they even have a shaded outdoor patio. I highly recommend this location specifically!

1st and last time at this location. I usually go to the Brea, 2nd & PCH LBC, Woobbridge Irv., or Old Town Pas. locations, which are not as nice looking as this one. Clutter clean, but no one wipes down... lucky it is in a nicer area so it's not ghetto scuzzy. Runs out of water a lot, even when the managers are walking by overseeing. I had to tell a staff at the register, which she apologized and said she can't fill the water there. Forks and knives out only, while my meal needs a spoon. I asked the food runner and she said it's out for self service...uh, not next to the kiosk, the registers, or the outside patio, so I had to address the register staff again. I eat/drink out a lot, not even comparable to the average person. It's Friday night (11/07/2025) before 7pm and I've already been to 7 places and by the end of the night I'll add another 6-8 mor places (Coffee/Tea places, Bakeries, Restaurants, and Bars). Again normal for moi. Urban Plates food is a standard 5 level as sit down restaurants (hybrid ones included too) goes, but their front service here is lacking at best. Good luck. Completing this review next door at Starbucks waiting for my iced flavored tea to rehydrated. Oh, and my cup of water too.

This broccoli and Herb Roasted Marble Potatoes were really disgusting this day

The last time we came here, the broccoli and herb roasted potatoes were disgusting. The broccoli was overcooked and like mush. The potatoes tasted off like a bit rotten. It's also worth noting that normally the herb roasted potatoes are whole small potatoes and these ones were larger and halved. Couldn't eat either and so ended up just eating the chicken and the bread. It also seems like even when you order all dark chicken, they will randomly throw in some dry white meat as a surprise lol. I like urban plates because it is a bit of a cleaner and fast meal when in a time crunch. But this last experience was very off putting.

I am so glad to see so many people like this place because they are ethical and sustainable - but omg I thought the food was horrible. And I don't feel that way often. I got the tofu plate with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, and my gma got the steak with mac & cheese and brussels sprouts. The second she put the mac & cheese in her mouth she was practically gagging, and the brussels sprouts were so hard she couldn't chew them. Even I could barely chew them. My tofu was also like rubber, I had work so hard to cut it. And there was no flavor to anything. I added salt, pepper, and hot sauce and still so dull. The presentation also lacked. And to top it all off, everything was cold. The bill came to over $42 for the two plates, for what tasted like cafeteria food. They also do the 3% surcharge to all orders. The layout is also interesting. You go to one counter to order then your food is brought out but if you need anything you have to keep getting up and each counter has different things. So had to get up a lot. The staff were very very kind though. All love to them! I would probably never come here again - in my grandma's words: "That food tasted weird"

Cage free chicken, beet salad and brussel sprouts

Stopped in for lunch with my son and was impressed by the ingredient quality. We shared the seafood chowder, which was the favorite part of our meal. It was rich and flavorful.....we wanted seconds!! My grilled cage-free chicken was moist and paired perfectly with the fresh beet and goat cheese salad. My son's grass-fed steak was also cooked well and very tasty. The side dishes were a bit of a letdown. The Brussel sprouts were overcooked and bit mushy, and the quinoa was soggy. I don't recommend these side dishes. The caesar salad was crisp and fresh. Despite the issues with the side dish the service was quick and the proteins were excellent. I'll definitely be back for more chowder!

Paid for annual membership so got a discount. Asked for medium rare steak but it came out medium, overcooked and tough. Disappointed. The lemony corn was very salty and did not taste good. The Thai salad was excellent, love their dressing. Mac and cheese and bread are delicious. Self serve water dispenser in the back by the bathroom. Service is not that great except for one Asian guy who helped give me a bag to take my food to go, he was friendly. Lots of free parking.

First off, the food was actually really good. However, I'm giving this place 2 stars for a couple of reasons. First off, the food was tasty, but the portions seemed small. The sides were decent, but the protein portion was small. We got the chimichurri steak. The cook on it was perfect. Loved throwing chumichurri combo as well. But I think there was like 7 slices in total. Probably about 6 oz worth of steak. I'd give it a sideways thumb in terms of value. Very tasty, just a bit pricey. The chicken tenders were tasty. Fries were good. The side salad was fine. Decent chicken tenders, but at $16, seemed a little high for 3 chicken tenders. The second thing and the thing that made me the most upset is the ridiculous 3% surcharge that was added to my order. I don't recall seeing anywhere what this surcharge is meant for. I didn't even know about it until I took a look at the receipt as I was about to leave the restaurant. I absolutely dislike restaurants that tack on ridiculous surcharges that are mandatory. Why charge this fee? It's not like you guys haven't raised your prices. For this reason, I don't think I'll be coming back. I won't support businesses that do this and there are way too many good options out there. UPDATE: the business replied to my review saying that they sent me a direct message. That's false. I received no direct message from them. I'm assuming it's for the sake of appearance that they're wanting to make things right, without any true follow through on their part. read more

I was very impressed with how quickly the food came out!! Service was great. I ordered the salmon plate with asparagus and Brussels sprouts. I love that the ingredients here are fresh and simple, it feels so healthy eating here. The salmon itself was delicious, and the meat was tender, moist, and perfectly flaky! Brussels sprout seasoning was also tasty and flavorful. The downside is that the plates are on the pricier side ($20+ for the plate). Lots of parking at this location and spacious casual interior. read more

Just tried Urban Plates but had it delivered. After reading other reviews complaining about cost & food being bland. I'm gonna have to completely disagree. I mean what's ur definition of bland, if you want something that has crazy ass curry, Thai type flavors then go to those kind of places. This place has a great variety of just everyday home cooked yet restaurant style & quality food and the cost seems relatively inexpensive compared to most places these days. I got a grass fed delicious steak w/mashed potatoes and a slice of bread and an individual banana cream pie w/ a juice drink for less than $30. That included all the DoorDash fees like, delivery fee, plus $2.99 direct to me fee and a tip for DoorDash driver. That's cheap these days. Urban Plates, you did not have to go that hard with the Tajín Chicken--but we're glad you did. This dish is zesty, juicy, and full of bold, citrusy attitude. It's like your favorite grilled chicken went on a flavor vacation to Mexico and came back wearing sunglasses and speaking fluent lime. The Tajín adds just the right kick--tangy, a little spicy, and totally addictive. Pair it with their roasted veggies or chimichurri potatoes, and you've got a meal that feels fresh, healthy-ish, and way more exciting than your usual sad salad lunch. If you're bored of basic grilled chicken, Tajín Chicken at Urban Plates is the glow-up you didn't know you needed. 10/10 would eat again. read more

A little disappointed based on the great reviews we read. We were looking for a healthier option while in town so decided to give it a try. The good: great selection, decent service, clean restaurant. We ordered the grilled chicken and Tofu plates. The chicken was on par with decent Chinese take out chicken. The Brussels sprouts and asparagus were definitely not grilled, overcooked, oily, and slimy. The tofu was edible. Roasted potatoes were really good as was the bread. Hopefully we just came on a bad day. Might try it one more time, but it would have to be significantly better to make it a regular stop. read more

For what I'd call a nicer more savory tender greens this place has a lot going for it. Whether it's the solid but small desert menu with the hummingbird cake being my personal favorite and the wide variety of protein plates. My friend got a grilled steak plate with garlic fries and a Cesar salad and I got the chimichuri steak plate with regular fries and Mac n cheese. What I'd say is my favorite touch was a stubborn soda fountain. It's something I haven't had since college and dearly missed. I'd easily come back over a sweet green and it deserves a spot if u got the money for it. read more

This is another OC restaurant that has raised its prices beyond what I am willing to pay. The food is good. I love their salads. A few years ago, their incredible steak salad was $12. Extra meet was $3.50. The portions were so big that I split my salad and had enough to eat. The same salad is $16.95 and, the deal breaker for me, it costs a whopping $8.00 for extra meat. The truth is there are many choices for lunch or dinner. Urban plates is too expensive for me. read more

I love this place. First off the side dishes are delicious, the mains are delicious and simple. I also love the sodas. I usually pick up to take home. And I enjoy savoring it with a glass of wine at my own leisure. Everything on the menu is a win. Kids meals are adorable. So if you have a little adult at home, their steak is good. read more

Really disappointed. Got a burger, which was burnt and not edible. Ordered a side of hummus that came with 4 pita chips. The chips were too hard to even eat. Also got the chicken bowl, which had the smallest serving of chicken. Everything was very disappointing. You order your food at a kiosk and it gets delivered to your table. Our food came out at different times so none of us ate together. We will not go back. It was too expensive for the poor quality of food that we didn't eat and lack of service. read more

I don't know how to express or explain the way I feel about the food I just want to make sounds of gratitude and joy and happiness!!! I want to tell you folks I've eaten at this spot twice in a span of 2 days...I think this is going to be a loving relationship!!! It's most definitely been a treat but an even bigger one to expose the goodness that is the Grass Fed Lamb Osso Bucco...this dish has it all!!! Savory fall of the bone lamb so soft and tender I prefer to be alone with it ahhahahah! Amazing chimichurri sauce and the mashed potatoes are like clouds that just ascended this dish into Heaven!!!! As for service it's quick you order at the front desk and the Chefs prepare these plates so quick I can't complain I don't wait long maybe 10min max. For the overall vibe of the place. It's chill with dim lighting very personal and vibrant at the same time. Overall...Urban Plates menu is filled with all kinds of goodies healthy and flavorful!!! I'd say yes every time someone offers to take me out and I'd most definitely pick here! That lamb is just tooo saucy!!!! read more

I'm impressed with Urban Plates' health-conscious menu with calories listed for each item. The osso bucco and seared ahi tuna sandwich are my favorite entrees to order from here! I also always get the beet salad w/ goat cheese as one of my sides. The pineapple, coconut, & lime replenishes is easily their best drink. In addition to their clean, delicious food, the employees are kind to all customers from what I've seen and they're efficient in how they operate their to-go system. read more

I like Urban Plates and decided to order a chicken plate with steamed broccoli and mac & cheese. The person who I picked up my order from was very nice and the pick up process was easy. That said, the chicken and mac and cheese were good, but the broccoli pieces had pretty visible black spots on the stem where they had been cut. While this is likely not a food safety issue, it's still kind of unappetizing and I ended up throwing the broccoli away to be safe since I'm pregnant. Edit: Since I can't respond to Joe's reply, I'm not sure if there's some kind of mistake, but I never received a message. read more

Came for a late lunch. This establishment has always been a favorite of mine since my friend first introduced me to their Brea location. There is amole seating in and outdoors. It is a bit chilly inside and I'm sure due to the AC because of the hot kitchen area. When you walk in, there is a place directed to ordering inside and a place on where to pick up your online order. I personally always order the Chimichurri Grass fed steak with two sides and this time I got mac and cheese and a side salad with bread. My husband got his usual Grilled Sustainable Salmon Plate with broccolini and herb roasted potatoes with bread. It's always tasty and today our entrees came out in no time. I've been here so many times since I was young, and I enjoy my experience every time. Their food is healthy and delicious, and the service is fast and workers are kind. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating options, I enjoy both and it's always clean! Currently, they have a deal where you pay $5 and get 20% off all your purchases for one month. We're regulars at Urban Plates -- so much so we are one of those people who have a plate pass -- because it's consistently good food, wide variety so there's something for everyone/every mood, the service is efficient and helpful (a server named Carlos tonight, for example, checked on our table with multiple young kids several times), and the price feels very good value. It's a nice low calorie meal after the gym and doesn't feel too heavy. Service was quick and getting our food was maybe 10 minutes. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ham butter imparted so much flavor. My favorite item that we ordered was the Galician Octopus. The thin slices were perfectly executed and the flavors underneath packed a punch. I would pass on the Gambas al Ajillo. While the shrimp were large, I found myself wishing that they had some char. The Summer Squash Salad was a perfect complement to the other dishes. I found the squash ribbons to be unique, the dressing to be light and fresh, and the inclusion of small bits of cheese to impart just the right amount of saltiness to the dish. Because we were celebrating my birthday, they gave us a complimentary slice of the basque cheesecake with a candle in it. Making reservations is recommended since the restaurant is small but making it wasn't too difficult. We were impressed by how cute it was. It had a dark European vibe which we loved. It's definitely intimate and great for small groups, not so much larger ones. We brought in our own wine to enjoy with a corkage free. We got seated right away and our nice waiter gave us great recommendations and answered our many questions. We ended up ordering a lot between all three of us but that's just how we roll. We started with their bread & ham butter, pork pate, and burrata. The pork pate didn't come with bread so we were glad our waiter recommended it. The pate was really good and was different. It was on the dense side but still spreadable and full of flavor. The burrata had peaches, cherries and pinenuts. It was different but in a good way and we also ate that with the bread. It was more bland and nice with the pate. For dinner we got their steak tartare, mushrooms, chicken, and pork. The steak tartare was on the saltier side which I didn't mind. It was actually a large portion and sat on some toast. The mushrooms were a hit. They were braised with an onsen egg on top to mix. The pork was exceptional. It was flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend it for protein. My least favorite dish was the chicken, which was actually super tender and cooked just right. I just didn't like the sauce taste and I am not a fan of beans. We ended the night with some basque cheesecake which was not too sweet and delicious. What an incredible meal. The pricing we thought was good for the quality and what you get. Some of the portions were smaller but good for us. The pork did have a 40 minute wait to make which our waiter told us. Service was amazing and the food came out as it was made. The restaurant is small so reservations is recommended. They have limited parking and there is also street parking around.

Urban Plates is a chain fast-casual restaurant with a clean and diverse menu. There's plenty of free parking in the lot of the Irvine Marketplace. There's also lots of indoor and outdoor seating. You can either order on the kiosk or with a person inside and they bring your food to your assigned number. We did end up waiting a little for our food and had to get our own utensils, but all of our meals came around the same time. The ambiance inside is casual-fancy so it's great for meeting a colleague, a date, or to catch up with a friend. The menu has food for everyone, there's both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The mediterranean chicken bowl was a good portion for the price, but the chicken was a little bland. The dragonfruit replenisher was really refreshing and felt fresh. Tonight's meal for the family was beyond a disappointment for us. As you look at the receipt, we ordered four meals and each one was bad. Kelly, who was the cashier tonight, was excellent, and that's why I tipped on the bill. She deserves the while tip, not the cooks, because our meals were beyond terrible. The rice was undercooked, and it messed up both meals that. The roasted potatoes were too rough. Both of the steak plates were bad as well. I spend way too much money to be this disappointed. In the end we the family threw the dinner in the trash and just had a salad. I don't mind supporting businesses during these trying times, but with every customer, the food must be that great. You can tell tonight food had no love in it. Usually, when we get food here, it's fantastic. I'm so pissed, and I look forward to speaking with management. This was my first visit to Urban Plates EVER. I was shopping at the Market Place in Tustin and this place caught my eye so I decided to try it out. I must say it doesn't look like much from the outside (there is a nice size patio both covered and uncovered). Inside was nice and cozy looking though. As the saying goes, "Don't judge a book by its cover"! The decor is very neat and eclectic, the restrooms are well kept and around the restaurant is kept very clean. The food is outstanding! The salads are more than enough for 1 person and the Chimichurri steak was fantastic! (It is cooked medium rare, so just a heads up). I've always been a Mendocino fan but lately urban plates has been bringing in their a game! The food tastes even more fresh than Mendocino, you see everything cut and cooked in front of you. Their portions have been more consistent. I feel like some food could use a little something more to make it even more amazing but their fenomenal customer service makes up for that! The customer service is why I can honestly say I'm now an urban Stan instead! Belen helped me out last time and when she saw how complex my sandwhich order was she went the extra mile if tracking me down to double check all the notes the cashier made were correct and we even caught a few mistakes before my food was even made! To be honest this is the first time this happens so I'm still going to give this place a 5 because the service is always impeccable and the way the situation was handled I respect. The kitchen must have fallen behind because my salmon plate took 20 something minutes to come out so they offered us a side and we asked for fries which ended up coming out after the salmon around 30 minutes into my order some trouble with the fryer but the cashier came and spoke to us and communicated everything and the manager Bellen came and talked to us and brought us a gift card since we already had some desserts for next time and got us some refills on our seasonal drinks which they usually don't refill. I was recently in the mood for a good steak sandwich, and I was so glad we live near urban plates. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the toppings were all fresh and delicious. I especially loved the sauce and tomato. The sandwich was served on a toasted roll, which was the perfect vessel for all the deliciousness. The service at Urban Plates was also excellent. I got the grilled salmon caesar salad, like I always do, bc it's healthy and tastes amazing, except this time, it wasn't so delectable, they ruined the plate, the salmon is still good, but the way they make the salad is horrid, they don't bother cutting the lettuce, they put them in as leaves, add a couple of small tomatoes cut in half and sprinkle some shredded cheese over everything, with barely any salad dressing, with even less croutons, and as a final slap to the face, they raise the price, I used to come every week for this plate. Just moved to the OC. Trying out new places. Love this place for all the choices there are for healthy eats. Probably why at certain times this place is super busy. Yesterday, it was so hot outside, I just went in for just that yummy coconut drink that they make. The line was out the door with people still deciding their food choices. My new favorite go to restaurant! Everyone is so friendly! My cashier belen had a big smile on her face, was so friendly, kept conversation and made me feel so welcomed... My salad was amazing! I am very picky but I had no complaints the food is so good! Got the Caesar wrap with the grilled chicken and it was honestly sooo good. The wrap itself is actually filling and they're really generous with the chicken which I appreciated. I also loved that it had little crouton bits inside because it gave the perfect crunch in every bite instead of just being a soft wrap the whole time. The tortilla held together really well too and didn't fall apart halfway through eating it like a lot of wraps do . I got the dill ranch on the side and it was SO yummy with it. Today was the third time I visited urban plates and enjoyed myself just as much as I did the other two times. I came in expecting greatness and got exactly that. I did want to mention that Kelly, Steven, Bianca, and Brianna did a really good job taking care of business and keeping things running smoothly. While I was eating, I noticed that someone got the wrong to-go order and Brianna made sure that the guest was taken care of and left content. Kudos to Brianna!
