It pains me to give such a low rating for urban plates because I absolutely love their food and pay for the membership. But this location desperately needs help! I ordered the chicken plate (which had always been my go-to and is excellent at other locations). I went yesterday and the chicken was very overdone and dry, super disappointing. Additionally, I ordered the cauliflower as my side and pulled out a piece of plastic packaging about an inch long, that had been cooked with the veggies. I don't think I'll be going to this location anymore, the fountain valley one and Jamboree ones are good- I recommend you skip this one. read more

REALLY good food and there are affordable options. I haven't been here in some time and forgot how tasty it is; the speciality drinks are still fire too. For those who have never been: you order at the register (they changed it from a "Go down the line and point at what you want") and you get a number depending on whether it's To Go or Dine In. They bring you your food and they'll clear it after you're gone. There's also a water thing to refill water cups and condiment tables (including Tapatio and Tabasco). There's some indoor tables as well as patio seats. Huge parking lot too so don't worry about that. read more

This place is great for a lunch/dinner meal! Lots of options, something for everyone. We got a chicken plate and a chicken sandwich. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, I was afraid it would be dry but it definitely wasn't! The sides were the beet salad, side salad, broccoli, and cauliflower. Each were delicious as well, fresh and well seasoned. The indoor decorations had a nice theme, wood planks with black accents and earthy vibes. The staff was nice and attentive, they bus your plates and are friendly. The place was clean too, bathrooms well stocked. Prices were reasonable as well! For a hearty and (somewhat) healthy meal you pay a good price. You can even participate in their rewards program and get discounts. read more

The food itself was pretty good, and it was surprisingly filling. In my opinion, the tofu somehow didn't absorb much of the chili flavor despite sitting in it for a while. Great food, Good decorating and design. Very affordable. But, location by location you may have a different taste experience which is not good. If you are living in Woodland Hills, LA, I highly recommend it. I difinitly prefer that branch to the Irvine Barranca one. I took my family member to the Woodland Hills one and they noticed the difference. I hope Urban do something regarding that. They recently eliminated asparagus and mushrooms, two of the best of the best sides which is so disappointing. I recommend this restaurant for sure. read more

We ordered two plates: Beef and Salmon, both came with two sides, we got asparagus, brussel sprouts, and mashed potatoes. Salmon comes with a tasty honey Dijon mustard dipping sauce, very tasty. The beef is delicious, great cooked and seasoned just perfectly. You also get a slice of bread with the order, but I didn't really care for it. The food portion is perfect per person, but cost is a bit higher than the usual casual dining service. Then again, inflation is at an all time high right now too (April 2023). Note: they do have a surcharge of 3%, so don't feel obligated to tip unless you have the means to do so. Overall great food and friendly staff. read more

Took my mom to dinner after a visit to the Doctor, I had been to Urban Plates before and found it quite good. In fact, other than cold French Fries I was happy about our meals. Grass Fed Steak, Grilled Salmon, Shrimp Skewer. What I didn't realize is this is one of those locations that has a small asterisk. In fact they have the smallest mention of the fact that they add 3 % to your bill to help pay for the employee benefits. This is the biggest Crock of Sheet I have ever heard. I know it's legal, the hospitality lobby put a knife to Newsomes neck , but it's unethical I don't not visit anywhere that add a percentage on their bill for anything. Put the real price on the menu. I will not ever be going back to Urban plates but will continue to give them bad reviews as I did a large Beer craft chin until they relented. All businesses have to pay wages, and many businesses provide benefits. People refuse these hidden junk fees! read more

The best cozy atmosphere for a variety of healthy food. Each time has been consistently good. Service is quick. I usually get the chimichurri steak, mashed potatoes, and veggies. I tried the garlic shrimp and it was perfect. The beef patty for the cheeseburger is a little pink and undercooked, maybe next time we will ask for it to be well done. My favorite salad here (steak salad) definitely does not taste as fresh and the beef quality was mediocre. The beef was chewy and salty. Also, the portion is smaller and price has gone up. This was my first time going to an Urban Plates restaurant, but I've passed by a couple of their locations and have been wanting to try their food. I really like that they have multiple gluten free options ( I adhere to a gluten free diet) that are some of my favorite foods. So this week at the start of my birthday month, I happened to be in the area after a doctors appointment and called in my order for pickup. The person on the phone promptly took my order and verified it with me before placing it under my name and giving me a 15 minute estimated wait time. This was perfect, we drove over to the restaurant just in time for the food to be ready. While waiting in line for my order (it was during the lunch rush), I saw that they also had gluten free dessert offerings, so I ordered the almond macaroon and the flourless gluten free cake. I also ordered their specialty vanilla soda and a lemonade for my mom. Even though the server was juggling multiple orders and helping multiple people at the same time, I was still served very promptly and was in/out of the restaurant within 5 minutes. The chicken plate was perfect - the chicken was marinated and cooked to perfection so that the chicken was still juicy. The mashed potatoes were so darn good, just the right amount of butter and salt, while the charred broccoli was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection as well. The almond macaroon tasted more like an almond pudding cookie - still delicious, just a different texture. The flourless chocolate cake was extremely decadent and hit the spot in terms of the perfect dessert. The vanilla soda made me nostalgic and reminded me of homemade soda that I used to buy when I was going to college, it was just the right amount of vanilla/sweetness for a drink. The inside of the restaurant looked very nicely decorated and very large - able to accommodate large parties, while also giving an intimate feeling that a couple could enjoy a meal here too. My mom and I really enjoyed our meal here, we can't wait to come back, try their other locations and dine in soon! read more
