Nothing but praise for this place. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and accommodating. Was seated really quickly and the staff were attentive on us all night. The menu was vast and had a bunch of traditional Thai foods that most other Thai restaurants don't have. I got the Massaman Curry with roti. Initially I detected a really strong fish sauce flavor but after I started eating more and more it got better. The curry was flavorful and spicy and delicious. I've had Thai food at so many places and the sticky rice dessert here was the best!! The sticky rice was cooked to the perfect texture and mixed very well with their coconut milk sauce. The portion was generous enough for 3 people to share. Their Tom Kha soup was also very good. I love how they added just the right amount of coconut milk in the soup to balance the sourness and the creaminess of the broth. Chicken Satay Appetizer came with 5 sticks, well seasoned & generous portion for the price. Mixed Thai Sausage was decent. The plate came with a variety of options for you to snack with. Food: we ordered khao soi with beef (5/5) and pad see ewe with beef (4/5) Hubby enjoyed his khao soi, my pad see ewe was good but beef was really chewy and sliced too large. I would have preferred thinner slices. Portions were large. Service: 3/5, waitress could freshen up on her customer service skills. She seemed annoyed when I was asking questions about another dish -mind you, this was our first time eating at this establishment and thai food is not something we are familiar with. She also got my husband's order wrong -he ordered beef and they brought out chicken first. When he politely told the waitress he ordered beef instead of chicken, instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding -she just snatched the bowl away and didn't say anything. Let me tell you something, you've got to try this gem of a restaurant. I've been here, at Urban Thai Kitchen twice and the food is outstanding! The menu is varied and quite extensive. The vegetable egg-rolls are the best that I've ever had. I am not usually a fan of dumplings but the Tulip Dumplings almost had me order another round of them. I didn't double the order because we had Red Curry and the Pad Ginger coming already. They were both excellent. They also offer a delicious variety of Thai teas, both hot and cold. The service was cheerful and efficient. The store was clean and well run. It is right next to Hasta La Pasta in the Kroger parking lot at 99 & Bay Hill Blvd. We were on our way to fight the crowds over in Katy Asia Town when I remembered Urban Thai Kitchen on a Friday night. Easy parking, open seating (there were just two other couples in the restaurant) and for us, just around the corner. I would like to encourage this community to patronize this establishment to enable it to be successful so we can enjoy it for many years to come. We tried the pad kee mao w shrimp, the massamun curry w chicken and the Thai wings. We opted for the roti and rice option w the curry. All options were medium spicy. The items were well portioned and we shared all of them easily. Everything was flavorful. The rice that came w the wings was so dried out it was impossible to separate. Wings--3/5 The wings were meaty but dry. Pad Kee Mao-5/5 We really enjoyed this dish. Massamun curry-4/5 this was very good. Little on the sweet side for me tho.
