Urbane Cafe has become one of our favorite easy lunch spots in Studio City. I love the Mediterranean bowl -- it's fresh, flavorful, filling without feeling heavy, and everything always tastes really good. It's also a great place to go with kids. They actually have options my son is excited to eat, which makes grabbing lunch so much easier. The location next to Sprouts is super convenient too. I have been to so many locations and this one is by far my favorite!!!! The staff here are all so nice and have NEVER EVER messed up my order...(Unlike the Noho West one which has many times over plus my order is never ready on time). I will drive the extra mile just to avoid these issues. Sarah, the manager, is super sweet and always nice to chat with. The inside is very clean with plenty of tables to sit at as well as a nice patio out front. Parking here is never an issue. We visited Urbane Cafe for the first time and overall had a nice experience. I ordered the steak bowl, and I liked the fresh ingredients and the concept. I'm giving 4 stars because some pieces of the steak were a little tough, and I personally would love to have more customization options for the bowls. I usually prefer being able to choose my own ingredients. For example, I enjoy white rice, but this bowl came with a different type of rice. I understand it's probably a healthier option and part of their menu style, but having a choice of rice, salad, or toppings would make the experience even better for me. I really enjoyed the chimichurri steak sandwich, it was very filling and the meat was super juicy and tender. I only was able to eat the half because of the delicious salad that accompanied the sandwich. The fountain drinks are SO good. I absolutely loved the lemonade and the watermelon juice. My partner picked the dragon fruit juice and it was also delicious. Staff is super friendly and very attentive. Plenty of free parking in the front! We were greeted with a smile and a welcome as we entered- an important part of service as that drives the initial impression of a restaurant. There was music bumping and once we entered, it felt like the quick bite type of dining. My friend and I ordered the Ahi salad and the UC bahn mi. I'm a big pork bahn mi fan so I was curious to try the chicken version! Though not quite on the same level, it was still pretty tasty!The only thing I would've liked is for the carrots to be more pickled. My friend really liked her tuna salad as well. The cookies were a bit too sweet for me, but tasted great- my favorite out of the 2 was the white chocolate cranberry cookie. My Baja soup deserves a 5 stars review!!! Aww the corn and the chicken are definitely perfection. I always order this soup if it exists on the menu and this one is one the best I have ever tried let along the focaccia bread is so warm and fresh. The double chocolate cookie was so good. Ambiance - few seats inside the shop and small tables outside. The place is located in the crowded lot with other restaurants around; so, difficult to find parking during lunch or dinner times. Food - I ordered Chimichurri Steak Sandwich-$13.55, it was served with their urbane house side salad. They make their own -focaccia bread- for sandwiches which I thought was pretty cool and tasty too. I wish it could have more sauce in the sandwich as it was a bit dry. Delicious is definitely in the details! I was so excited to see that Urbane Cafe opened a location super close to me as the closest used to be Burbank. I've always loved their variety: sandwiches, bowls, salads, savory cookies (yes, savory!), and healthier drink options. There's something for everyone, and it's all crafted with intention. A little backstory: Urbane Cafe was founded in 2003 by Tom Holt, who saw a gap in Ventura's restaurant scene. He was after something different, something fresh, flavorful, and high quality. With a vision for great sandwiches and salads, he teamed up with his friend Pete to develop a hearth-baked bread recipe that's still used today. Everything is made with care...from locally sourced ingredients and house-roasted meats to handcrafted sauces that really bring each dish to life. On this visit, I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with Salmon and it was so flavorful. It had mixed whole grain rice, marinated kale, roasted sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, garlic roasted red pepper hummus, tomato cucumber salsa and a lemon wedge. I always add a side of their peanut dressing for an extra kick (highly recommend!). Parking is a breeze with a couple free lots nearby and easy street parking. Urbane Cafe is a delight!!! So many options, so little time! A friend suggested meeting here for lunch and I'm so glad she did. The menu is so extensive it was tough to choose what to order. I was between the Moroccan Jewel Salad (without the chicken) and the Gourmet Grilled Cheese, so I asked Zach, one of the lovely employees, for guidance. Zach was so kind to walk me through the menu and share all of the highlights. He told me that Urbane Cafe is famous for their bread, so he suggested the sandwich. He said he's never seen the bread sit for longer than 2 hours from oven to order. That's impressive. His customer service was next level - he had so much pride in the restaurant and in the entire concept of what makes Urbane Cafe special. When I asked what the soup options were, I was totally sold when he said tomato bisque was an option. Even though there are large self order screens with no waiting to order, Zach was happy to take our order for us. My friend opted for the Keto Cobb as that's her go to - it looked amazing and I can't wait to try it next time (without the bacon)! My grilled cheese was absolutely perfect and like no other grilled cheese I've ever had. There's a few kinds of cheese on this one, including cheddar, pepper jack, and Gorgonzola (!!!!) as well as avocado and a tomatillo salsa. The Gorgonzola took this sandwich to a whole new level, and the tomato bisque with it was heaven. I literally cannot stop thinking about that extra zip the Gorgonzola gave to this grilled cheese. Instead of being a crispy, toasted grilled cheese, the house made focaccia made this sandwich soft and cozy. I don't have any other way to describe it. There's even a sprinkle of salt flakes on top of the bread that just makes the cheese sing even more somehow. Another perk to Urbane Cafe is that everything is $15 or less, and there's plenty of seating and craft sodas and agua frescas if you're into that. I can't wait to come back! I had a coupon to buy a sandwich or salad and get the 2nd entree for free; and also a coupon to get a free cookie and lemonade which was an excellent deal. My whole meal came out to $15.09! With that being said, I didn't want the coupon to expire. It was until the end of the this month. So I went to UC today around 4pm and was greeted by a very nice lady name Michelle. She was sweet, kind, friendly, helpful with a nice smile. She helped me decide what to get since I had the coupon and we came to an agreement. I got their Chicken Pesto Sandwich which came with sun dried tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese, Arugula, & Vegenaise. (vegan mayo). and for my free entree, I got their salmon salad that was filled with lots of good, healthy vegetables.( People eat healthy in this wonderful Cafe:-))). The Salmon salad was glazed. Came with chopped salad mix, mixed greens, edamame, diced jicama, mango salsa, sesame seeds with dressing. Everything tasted super fresh & delicious!! One minus thing for me is that my chicken sandwich was VERY SALTY! Michelle said it was the bread, not the chicken. The lemonade that I chose was this tasty lemonade called AGUAFRESCA. A bit sweet, but I enjoyed it. They had 2 other flavors of lemonade: regular yellow & watermelon lemonade. Also different kind of fountain drinks/sodas, ice tea and bottled drinks infront of the register with 3 different kind of cookies for people like me who almost always have a sweet tooth. Place was cute, cozy, clean, had a nice patio, great vibes/music, ambiance, full of people eating inside and outside. I sat inside. And great customer service! However, I had to run to the bathroom, and it was not clean at all. The floor was wet, toilet was not flushed, I had to flush it before I used it, and the trash was full. I told Michelle, that your bathroom needs attention. She said we were busy and I said, but it is part of your job and she apologized. I don't want to dock a star for that, but hopefully next time when I go there the bathroom will be spotless clean. Overall, I had a great dining experience at Urban Cafe. The focaccia bread used to be light in color & texture, gooey inside and perrrrfect- lately it is overcooked, really oily and sooo salty. I peeled off the top layer to save what I could. It's a waste of money now. The Bread *was* the star of the show. Without it, there are other salad places. I am leaving review because this isn't a one time deal, the bread here has been bad for about a month now.
