I usually order the Urbane Cobb Salad, or the So-Cal Chicken Sandwich, or the Cranberry Brie Turkey Sandwich, or the Californian Sandwich (it is a vegetarian sandwich that is so so good!!!). I went here the other day and they were pretty busy. I had asked for no meat on my salad, however I got both bacon and chicken. Solid go-to place for quick food with fresh made quality. I really like the chicken pesto/sun dried tomato panini with side salad. The "Urbane" salad is also a fave... their balsamic house dressing is delicious! The only thing is they use canned mandarin oranges in their salads. Food was good not great but we had a free sandwich coupon so it was worth it. We waited in front of the register for about 5 minutes while the cashier was on the phone. She didn't look up at us once while we were standing there. I totally understand she was busy but I would have liked it she would have at least looked up and smiled or something. I just ordered in from Urbane for the first time. I had "The Californian" it was delicious. Only reason for four starts is that the artichoke hearts were not cut well - they were canned, but good. The issue is unless you cut these back they are really stringy & almost impossible to eat. I pulled them out and ate separately- still good! I never write negative reviews about places but I felt like this incident needed to be shared. I go to the Thousand Oaks location frequently (I work down the street) and have always had a great experience. I usually order the chimichurri steak sandwich which is amazing every time. I called in and ordered the ahi tuna salad for pickup yesterday, the girl who answered the phone was very friendly and they had my food ready when I arrived there less than 10 min later. I took my food and drove back to work. I was halfway through eating my salad when I noticed something at the corner of my eye. There was a LIVE CATERPILLAR in my salad. I immediately felt sick to my stomach. I called in to let them know to check their spring mix just in case there were any more hiding in there. I've worked in food service my whole life, I know that spring mix comes pre-packaged but if it was washed properly and put through a salad spinner (which I assume a place with salads as half their menu has) LIVE bugs would never be an issue. I always have a great salad here and my kids like the sandwiches at this place but yesterday I ordered a salad and was disappointed. I took it to go so I couldn't complain. The cobb salad had enough chicken and mixed greens but there was only ONE HALF of a grape tomato in the entire salad. very little avocado or bacon and way too much cheddar cheese and not any gorgonzola, a few mushrooms which i don't like so i take them out. I was craving a cobb salad and this was disappointing I got a chicken and greens salad with cheese. :( I will go back because I still like this place but I will check the salad before I leave. read more

I eat here almost every single day because of the fresh food and the great staff. They always make me feel like I'm at home, and every time I bump into one of the higher ups, they shower me with free meals. The wait time for my food is ALWAYS short even when it's busy. Being very health conscious, I admire their menu and feel almost uncomfortable eating anywhere else in the area. Their bread is so sawft. Not soft, but sawft (get it right). It practically melts in your mouth. The salads they make would make a two year old look forward to eating their greens. I wouldn't change a thing about this place. Very affordable sandwiches that come with a side of salad. I got the bbq chicken and it was good. I liked the sauce, very sweet. And the chicken was pounded very thin and stacked up which is great for a sandwich. The bread was fresh and soft but tasted like nothing. The prices on fountain drinks is as low as you'll find in a restaurant. And the staff was very friendly and gave us a free cookie after our meal. And not like a stale one that would've just been thrown out, it was fresh from the oven. I think they put salt on it to bring out the sweetness. Made it more unique. Don't get me wrong. I am a huge Urbane Cafe fan but NOT with this location. Why? Because every time I order a sandwich there they hardly put any filling in the sandwich. It's like eating bread only. And they hardly give you any salad. I have been to many other Urban Cafe locations. This has been a consistent problem with this location and I will no longer come here. Yummmm!!! My first time at Urbane Cafe. Ordered on line, so I didnt have to wait in line (Score). At lunchtime, the place was pretty busy! There is some space for dining inside, or there is plenty of seating outside to enjoy your lunch al fresco when the weather is nice. I had the cilatro chicken sandwich...So tasty!. Made with avocado, this yummy corn bean salsa, chipotle mayo and mozzeralla! It was really good. The sandwich and a side salad was only $8! I swapped out the salad for a cup of fruit. The fruit was fresh and delicious. I only wish the serving size of the fruit was a bit larger. The sandwich was a nice healthy serving. Not too much, but no measley little portion either. We love this place. They are so incredibly accommodating and the food is so fresh. Our go to is the SoCal Sandwich. It's chicken and avocado with a spicy kick. The house salad with balsamic is also the primary side choice. Anna is great, too. We found a live beetle in my salad (talk about fresh haha) and she couldn't stop apologizing and immediately offered to remedy the situation by comping our meal. Bella sweet Bella your lack of care in dealing with a simple customer request has me never wanting to return to this location. I came in last night for one thing your world famous cookies. My friends and I wanted a very simple request a dozen chocolate chip cookies to go. You told us sorry but that's all the cookies we have and we aren't making anymore. We offered to wait for another batch to be baked you said sorry they take a minute to bake and you refused. We asked how long it take to make another batch you said 20 mins which it was another 90 minutes before you closed. Your lovely manager said sorry we are not making anymore cookies until the rest have been purchased so buy these other flavors we didn't want or sorry tuff luck. I was willing to spend 20 plus dollars on an order of cookies. Well not only did you blow off the sale which I'm sure you're owners will love but you lost any additional sales from me. My wife will not be back to a place we used to got to twice monthly. FYI managers or owners reading this the place was dead, no one in front of behind us you could have just made the cookies. As good as the food is and as nice as the people are, every single order I have had has been wrong. every. single. one. I have been going here for years (love the food) but wow whether it be the wrong meat, wrong dressing, wrong salad or wrong type of cheese, something is ALWAYS wrong. I typically get my food to go and usually double check it but somehow something gets by and I get to my office with food that I paid way too much for it to be wrong. SO disappointing. Definitely cut from the cloth of Panera Bread. Pesto Chicken sandwich was very good accompanied by the Artichoke Bisque which was excellent albeit pricey at $3.95. Not sure how long they have been in business but there were some noticeable 'rookie' mistakes - wiped off tables were left very wet and napkin dispenser was jammed so tight, I had to assist a Senor Citizen to remove napkins. Maybe because it's a chain restraunt, it wasn't amazing, but it was still good. I have been eating a lot healthier, so this is a place to check out for staying away from horrible fast food. It was around lunch and kinda busy. After ypu place your order, they hand you one of the restraunt buzzers that tell your table is ready and it never buzzed. Someone brought our food out, (what's the point of the buzzer thing then). It took about 30mins to get our food. Kinda glad my friend had 2.5hrs for lunch. Food wise the side salad was good. The tangerines where delicious very light on the salad the dressing was a vinaigrette and taste great with the feta cheese. That turkey club sandwhich wasn't that great. The American cheese over powered it and it was kinda soggy. Kinda disappointed that they do not have pickles or at least Cucumber, it's a sandwhich place right. My friend wanted to try there carrot cake. Very runny and blan. I definitely love trying all these new places, but I am not sure I want try this place again, but will see.
