This place has some very interesting sandwiches that are quite tasty and healthier than your typical fast food joint. I had the Chicken Pesto and Sun Dried Tomato Sandwich. It was quite large, so I actually couldn't finish it in one sitting. It goes for $8.95 and comes with a nice salad. One other thing that impressed me was that besides the typical soda fountain, they had four different flavors of lemonade to choose from for your beverage. My husband, son and I came for the yelp event but have also been before, mostly for takeout. Generally, we usually get salads to go because they have good healthy options. I normally go with the ahi salad and love it. My husband usually gets the Cobb and I sometimes do as well which is hearty and yummy. When we went for the event, I got the salmon salad chef special and I wasn't a huge fan of it. Nothing bad about it but just not my taste so my husband ate it and I ate his Cobb. I will say all the times we have come they could give a little more dressing for the salads. It always seems like it's not quite enough. We got the kids meal for my toddler. We chose the cheese pizza which we got with fruit. Super good portion for $5. The people working there were really nice and sweet. However, we did have to ask that they wipe down the tables for us to sit. Which seemed odd to me since it was a yelp event, you would think they would be on top of it. My husband really loves Urbane Cafe and comes in regularly. He always orders the Turkey Club without bacon and sub mayo. The sandwich was always prepared correctly and delicious. I ordered it at the counter to go with Lesli H. I told her twice that I wanted a club sandwich no bacon and sub mayo. She was very unfriendly and had bad attitude. Once we opened up the sandwich at home, there was no tomato and no avocado. There was bacon in it. We also got a random container of ranch dressing as well. The sandwich was not up to our expectations. When it is busy, we understand that mistakes are made. But Lesli had a bad attitude at the counter and also on the phone when we called to speak to the manager - Lesli H. She was very defensive and unhelpful. We had such a great time and the staff were extremely friendly. I felt at ease talking to them about the menu and as it turns out, you can buy their "just" their focaccia bread if you want for $2.50! The salmon was served cold. I would have preferred the salmon to be served warm with a slight sear to it but it still tasted very good. My boyfriend enjoyed it as well. My son ordered a vegetarian California sandwich without cheese. The side salad had this lovely light and slightly sweet dressing which went wonderful with the spring mix dressed up with mandarin oranges. There were heaps of veggies in the sandwich and plenty of artichokes. We got these warm and delicious chocolate chip cookies as dessert. I have never been to an urbane cafe before but we will look forward to coming back. :) read more

Was in there this past Saturday 6/17/2023, I had the ahi tuna salad and later that night woke up with extreme stomach bloating and diarrhea and had absolutely zero energy and continued GI issues all day Sunday, that was the last thing I had ingested the whole day. You guys need to make sure that particular food item is served the correct way and handled the correct way. I will not be getting that item or returning to that store again. read more

Some of the freshest salads I've had in a long time! Wonderfully fresh grilled chicken and the bread is to die for! Very wonderful staff and Carlos was awesome and helping us make some of our selections. Have a nice sitting area outside if weather permits. It was a little noisy and hot inside so we chose the outside venue. The only problem is their location is right by 101 and Moore park so it makes a little bit noisy outside. No big deal! Came here when down in the area for a soccer tournament. I used to be a huge Panera fan but this place was way better. I got a couple of kid sandwiches and a salad for myself. Kids meals were all reasonably priced and were plenty of food and good food at that. The best part was the service. One of the guys behind the counter noticed that my son had on a Messi/Barcelona jersey on and struck up a conversation with him and offered us all a free cookie. On a recent work outing I found myself with some time to kill in the Thousand Oaks area. I am not familiar whatsoever with Thousand Oaks but was hungry after a long day of work and needed to fill up before starting a second shift. I recently became an LA asshole, and by that I mean I randomly just stopped eating delicious carbs like pasta, rice, and bread. No particular diet trend just wanted to stop feeling as sluggish and shameful as I generally do when I eat my feelings in baked goods. Since doing so it has made eating out very difficult. Sure you could make some horrible cunnilingus joke here but let's take the high road. I mean seriously I have deprived myself of bread I might as well do the same with terrible double entendre jokes. ANYWAY. So I went here and at first to my chagrin I realized it was mostly a sandwich place and that meant I had to get a salad. =( Don't get me wrong I love salads but at most casual places like this I usually feel it's a barely healthy alternative and a rip off. But I was wrong. I ordered their version of a cob salad. Santa Maria Chicken I think it was called. Although at first the portion looked a bit small, let me tell you it is far from a skimpy meal and actually quite filling. And I get it cob salads are not the healthiest salad by any means but come on baby steps. I just gave up bread, im trying over here.. But in my haste I was so hungry and tired I assumed a salad would not be enough and doubled up on my order. At first I almost caved in and ate something with bread but luckily they can substitute the bread of a sandwich with a lettuce wrap instead! So I ordered a tri tip lettuce wrap instead. It was pretty good but honestly without the bread it was unsurprisingly a bit less filling and satisfying than one would dare like to hope.. nay dream.. But again that's no knock on urbane that's my own d baggery that caused this. I am sure the sandwich is marvelous but I couldn't try it this time. What I did have was fairly flavorful and quite surprisingly for this type of sandwich casual eatery. I went in thinking it would be a local chain type of shitty panera bread type place, but was pleasantly surprised that it was far better. I would definitely go back and hope to find more of these in my local area as a nice alternative when I have no choice but to eat out. That's what she said btw. read more

So we were trying to get some food before attending a play in Thousand Oaks on a Friday night. We tried to get into California Pizza Kitchen and PF Chang's, but the wait was too long. Close by was Urbane Cafe. We had eaten there before but never reviewed it. Great place! Quick, fresh and affordable. They do it right. Very consistent. The TO location is also apparently the test kitchen for Urbane and as such, they have items not available on the regular. Good thing? I THINK SO! you know the dilemma of the lunch time routine? Exactly. Things get boring. Especially You grab the lunch to go,things get busy at work and you just can't muster up brain cell wattage to find good eats. Well, no problemo. Salmon tickle your fancy this week? Great! It's on the chalkboard. Next week, how about something different? No problemo! I love going to Urbane after my hike at Los Robles trail. Couple items I tried and really liked: Cilantro Chicken Salad: its marinated cilantro chicken is not too heavy. it has the usual leafy greens, cabbage, avocado, corn and black bean salsa. It's so delicious! I always ask for dressing on the side. So-Cal Sandwich: It's a chicken sandwich with avocado, salsa, pepper jack cheese, some lettuce. I believe it usually comes with chipotle aioli sauce, but I always ask them not to add it or just put it on the side. Chimichurri Steak: Oh this is so yummy! You can't go wrong with chimichurri + tri tip. I am drooling now while typing this review... My husband always orders this one. They make their own dough from scratch, and the fresh baked bread is top-notch. One thing that I don't quite like is the location - it is at a corner which could be difficult to drive in depending on which direction you are coming from. read more
