Food was fantastic, I would definitely come back again. The service was great and the drinks were the best part as well.

My husband and I enjoyed our meal here. First, the ambiance is bright and clean! We came in when lunch was almost done in 30 minutes and we didn't know if we should wait to be seated or order at the counter. A staff member immediately came over to explain the service and walked with us to the counter where you could see the desserts. We ordered the Tacos de pulpo (charred octopus), elote, campechana and rice pudding. They were all tasty and good! My husband decided to order oysters (ostiones callejeros) and at this time, the dinner staff accommodated us. They were also, friendly, accommodating and even explained how to order from the patio when we return the next time with our pup. We ordered for To-go rice pudding and chocolate tres-leche. The desserts were not overtly sweet. Rice pudding has coconut in it and the tres-leche's density was just right! We like Chef Hugo's other restaurants but this would be on the top of our list to return more-so because of it's location, easy to park, pet friendly patio, and spacious casual atmosphere. read more

Very confusing. - Menu needs to be better defined. - Fountain drink choices should include Mexican Sodas or something similar. I love urbe! The food is incredible and the ambience is fun! I typically meet friends at the bar here on Fridays we are available and the bartenders are so nice and friendly! If I could suggest anything - tacos al pastor is seriously mind blowing delicious! We have tried all of the tacos on the lunch menu and they are great, but the Al pastor is hands down the best, birria would be a close second. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicharron, but if you like pork rinds, this might be for you. The taquitos and gorditas are also really delicious and shareable. If you're going to pick a side - get the platanos! Parking sucks around here, but it's uptown, so that's to be expected. They have great patio seating for the nicer weather days and the pan dulce is always a nice ending after. Go here, you won't be disappointed! read more

This place was great - what else do you expect from Hugo Ortega? We came at 11:30am on a Sunday and were able to be immediately seated inside; by the time we left about 45min later there was a bit of a wait. The flow is: see the host for a table, look at the menu at your table, go to one of several cashiers to order (counter service), get a number, and finally receive deliciousness in a very short amount of time. I was seriously impressed by how well this all worked out; I was a little surprised that you had to be seated by a host for a counter service spot, but it actually worked quite well. The next most surprising thing was how fast all this amazingly intricate food came out - we ordered the chicharrone (the thing is literally the size of a baby elephant's ear, it is insane), the birria tacos, the plantain, huarache, and some horchata iced coffees. All the food was plated beautifully and came with unique and complex flavor profiles. I would say my least favorite item was the plantain because it had a little too much crema for my liking, but that is a pretty minor complaint overall. She took the trouble to enquire about our meal and was concerned about our misgivings about one particular item. We have been to this restaurant several times and have tried a bunch of their items. It's branded as Mexican street food and I think they do justice to that. Every dish, apprenticed, dessert or drink we ordered had been great. I am a big fan of their fajita, but their tacos and other items were perfect either. My boyfriend and I visited Houston for the first time and decided to try Urbe. Our waiter, Axel, was AMAZING! He was super friendly and helpful. He recommended great drinks and meal options and was very informative when navigating the menu. My boyfriend ordered the Barbacoa tacos, which you were able to assemble on your own. It came with Cactus salad, which was new to us! But it was interesting to try something new! I order the Taquitos. Both dishes were amazing and very tasty. For appetizers, we had street corn and the papas bravas. OMG delicious would definitely recommend. For drinks, we had the Urbe Rita and Malinche De Mezcal. The Urbe Rita is dangerous because it taste like passion fruit juice which gets you to purchase more and sneaks up on you later lol. The Malinche De Mezcal is a stronger drink but delicious. I usually love this place but today I felt really discriminated against. I came in thinking I was going to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some friends only to be told they were closing for a Fiesta. I completely understood that! However, once I left out I called to ask what event was taking place and was told that I could purchase a ticket for the event. To say that Hugo Ortega knows his way around a kitchen would rank as one of the great understatements in human history. I love the food this man cooks and every restaurant under his H Town Restaurant Group. I teach his story to my elementary school students, most of whom are Hispanic English Language Learners. His journey is the embodiment of the American dream so many millions have yet to realize. He risked his life and health to cross the border in the 80s and worked his way up from dishwasher to James Beard award winner. I cannot imagine my beloved hometown without Mr. Ortega and his wife Tracy Vaught. His newest venture, Uptown Park's Urbe, pays homage to Mexico's tradition and variety of spectacular street foods. I have devoured at least half of the menu offerings and received a "welcome back" from four different servers. I eat here every week, often to celebrate Taco Tuesday. The huarache, papas bravas, birria tacos, fried chicken taquitos, tacos de pescado, and carnitas are all mouthwatering plates, two of which mirror items at Hugo's and Caracol. The tacos al pastor, though, are life changing. The refried beans, too, are magical. All the aguas frescas flavors are marvelous, and the service is top notch. Even as I navigate a tight public educator budget, I do not think twice about dining here weekly. The menu balances immense value with savory, unforgettable Mexican street fare. My husband and I were looking for a place to have lunch and kill some time. Well I found this place and saw it was one of chef Hugo's restaurants and I wanted to try it. It was our first time here and we were a little lost luckily there were signs to read and we figured out what to do. We ordered through the QR code which made it easy. Then someone appeared and greeted other people as they arrived ans offered menus. Well ok... Since I ordered water it said I would get a cup. Order came no cup well ok. The husband had barbacoa tacos that were pretty good. No complaints although Mexican street tacos have a little fat and give the barbacoa an extra kick in flavor but these were pretty good. We got guacamole which was good once a salt was added chips were a bit hard which kept us from really eating them. We maybe had a handful. I got the green pozole and it failed me completely. It had no flavor and the chicken as well but if it going to absorb the flavor from the broth well I see why the chicken had no flavor. I was pretty frustrated because I had high hopes and was looking forward to a good soup for the cold restaurant and now I was hungry. I tried some salt, course salt Ina regular shaker was only frustrating since I couldn't get it out. This soup needed a lot more help. I unscrewed the lid on the salt and started to season. It took quite a bit of salt to the point that I wanted to give up ans just share my husband's tacos. Once it finally had enough salt the broth was good and I enjoyed it a bit more.
