Stopped in for lunch during the Los Altos Art & Wine festival. When we sat down, they were not busy, with several tables open. We left 50 minutes later, still waiting for our two wraps. The table next to us, which sat down 30+ minutes after we did, got their food within 10 minutes of sitting down. When we asked what happened to our food (after having waited for 45 minutes), the waitress informed us--without a hint of apology--that the other table's food came out faster since they'd ordered salads, which require no cooking. This would make sense, except they had salads with grilled meat--the same meat we'd ordered for our wraps. Also, our food should have been delivered before they even arrived, since we'd been waiting for 30 minutes before they even ordered. When we said we were done waiting and were just going to leave, the waitress called us a nasty name. Great way to add insult to injury! Fabulous place for a local lunch or dinner with family and/or friends. Service is consistently solid. And the food is excellent.

Being that I've never tried Turkish food before, I was not sure what to expect coming in. Boy, was I happy that I ventured out to Urfa. Everything was so savory, from the appetizer to the entiree. The soft bread with the eggplant appetizer is a great combo. Plus, the sea bass is seasoned to perfection. The veggies on the side bring out the flavor even more, and it's a super healthy entree. We'll be coming back here again to sample more dishes. read more

This is a gem of a restaurant. Yesterday, my wife and I had lunch there. I had lamb shish kabob, my wife had another lamb dish. They both were well and truly outstanding. Lamb pieces were tender and juicy, my rice pilaf and Bulger were extremely flavorful, and at $15 each they were nothing less than bargain. The owner/manager and our waiter were extremely attentive, polite, and polished. This place is new. We are residents of LAH. We have vested interest to see this place succeed by continuing to offer excellent restaurant experience. Therefore, this is as much a feedback for the owner/operator of the restaurant as it is a review for other Yelpers. We would like to point out the contrast between this wonderful little restaurant and two other "high fanfare" ones recently opened in Los Altos in the past few months. I usually would do a 5 star for this place but today the newer employee i don't know if she was a manager or server but she was pretty rude. I ordered togo and they made my wrap wrong which some times happen's and thats why i like to check when i get to my car. I called back and let them know it was made wrong and she asked "ok are you coming back" like ummm of course i am. So i walk back up and she says do you have the other wrap? Confused because one were still in a some what pandemic and shes taking back the food? So then i walked back to my car to get it to prove it was made wrong because my word wasn't good enough which is sad iv come here for many years. All the other servers are so sweet but this i don't know guessing new manager needs to work on her people skills iv been in the food industry off and on 10 years and i would never treat a guest like that. I love this restaurant! Just wish I could dine there more than I do. Excellent food, the chef is always innovative. Specials are great and the food is beautifully presented. Zoobie (not sure that's the correct spelling) is the manager and is a super guy! The staff has always been excellent and accommodating. The restaurant is very popular and can get a big noisy at times, but it just depends on when you are there...don't let that stop you! During the week it is quieter. There is a lovely patio out back, with the propane heaters for chilly nights and chillier seasons, and is really nice in the summer time. GO! read more

Every time we visit Urfa Bistro, the service and taste is awesome, and they are very professional and the food is tasty. they serve warm bread before dinner with olives and olive oil, and all food (beef shish, lentil soup, kababs) we have tried were great. Strongly recommended! read more

I had the grilled octopus which was very tender and beautifully paired with honeydew melon. For dessert we shared a kunefe and again it wasn't the painfully sweet version you can get in some places but rather a balanced execution of sweet, crunchy and creamy. Restaurants rarely get such great ratings, but now I see why. I've never had such tantalizing Turkish food. The appetizers are generous in portion size and the entrees are filling. My wife and I stopped in Los Altos to go to a yakitori restaurant, but couldn't get seated, so we ended up here by chance. I don't believe in any kind of God or fate or anything, but finding an establishment of this caliber by luck is enough to make even a non-believe like me contemplate the possibility of a benevolent overlord that runs the universe, a god-like maître d' if you will. We arrived less than 30 minutes before closing, but not once did we feel rushed or sense any annoyance from the staff. Our server (young woman with lavender hair) was extremely nice, and managed the perfect balance of checking in with us without it feeling like hovering. We started with a salad special that included black truffle burrata, heirloom tomato, arugula, cucumber, fig and two of the most amazing pieces of grilled peach ever to grace a plate. After that we moved onto the Cold Appetizer Combo plate- silky smooth hummus, smokey eggplant dip, a delicious roasted pepper ratatouille-like dish, a refreshing tzatziki , and the best falafels I've had in quite some time(which were a sub for the dolmas per our request). By the time we reached the Veggie Moussaka, we were already full, so we had to get most of it to go, although not as much as we thought would be necessary, since once we tasted it, forcing ourselves to stop was rather difficult. I have held two parties on the back enclosed patio and each time staff has been amazingly flexible about set up, bringing in decorations early, and just generally making sure that any questions I had were answered. Urfa Bistro, near our home in Los Altos, has become our restaurant of choice for modestly priced, excellently prepared and wonderfully served Mediterranean (and some others) foods. The owners (host and chef) are meticulous about the offerings and making sure customers are satisfied and cared for. The food is amazing and well below what one would expect to pay for this quality and environment. I am so taken by the moussaka I have to push myself to expand my choices, and each time I do I find new favorites. We go often, and bring our local friends and out of town guests, all of whom have uniform praise. All in all it is a great dining experience - whether last minute or planned in advance. read more

What a great addition to downtown Los Altos! I went to Urfa four times yet and food was always very good, with super friendly service in a nice, low-key atmosphere. The owner is genuinely friendly and pricing is very reasonable for Los Altos (you can have lunch for under $10, f.e a wrap + salad for $9). Only downside are the clientele of mostly senior people over dinnertime, in combination with too quiet downtown streets at night .. but this has nothing to do with Urfa's cuisine. If you love Turkish food, this is the place to go. read more

Came here with a large group - so the bistro's tip was secure. I came in a min earlier than our appt and the guy at the counter asks me to wait outside - the whole place was empty with one patron and perhaps 12 tables. Not a pleasant experience - never coming back. read more

Great food in downtown Los Altos. We shared appetizers and the dolma, burrata salad, and olives were tasty and my main, the lam sautée was incredible. Very tender lamb, very flavorful. So good that's it what I want to order next time I go. Staff was attentive and very knowledgeable about the food and easily accommodated a gluten and tomato allergy. There were good choices for the vegetarians in our group too. We were a party of seven, we had a reservation, we were sat immediately, and our food all arrived at the same time. This place is so good! Vast improvement over the Mediterranean place that used to be here. Shared the lamb shank and veggie moussaka with one other person and it was plenty of food. They were both delicious, the lamb was outstanding. The restaurant also seems to be run by a nice family, always a bonus! read more

We enjoyed our meal here, but it wasn't what we expected given the 5 star rating. The Urfa Kebab was good. The Greek salad was pretty bland and mostly iceberg lettuce and less-than-fresh tomatoes. We did really love the eggplant dip though! read more
