I have eaten at many Mediterranean restaurants in this are and Urfa is by far the best! Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The hummus, baba ganoush, roasted eggplant were amazing. Even the Greek salad was notable for being generous and flavorful without being excessively oily. The staff is friendly and accommodating. You can't go wrong at Urfa. read more

As I left the dentist with my broken right arm, I realized I should pick up something for dinner. I stopped at Urfa's and ordered to go, including their delicious and nutritious red lentil soup. I did not mention my arm, tho it may have been obvious. Tonight, I found such a generous, kind package! There were extra shrimp, uncharged, special bread, uncharged, with the good salmon salad and stuffed eggplant. Kindness such as they gave is so unusual now days in commercial places, that I hope they know they are so welcome to our town and will be treasured. read more

Food was excellent. Service was perfect. We arrived about 7:15: 5 adults and 4 dogs. They suggested we take their back patio. Space was wonderful. Our wait staff was well informed on the menu and their suggestions were spot on. This was a birthday dinner that was exceptional. read more

All 4 of us chose different meals--chicken shish, iskender, lamb shish, and baked stuffed eggplant--and every dish was fantastic. The service and friendliness of everyone was a treat. All these 5 star reviews seem very suspicious - did all these people really dine here? Here's the scoop: Spanakopita is like a heavy dough, not light filo dough and was very doughy, a bit undercooked and too rich. Too light on the filling. Stuffed grape leaves: not bad. Dinner with the Kofte - lamb/beef patties were very fatty, like Safeway ground chuck, and slightly burned flavor. Indigestion from that. The rice was not bad, the yogurt dip good, but the veggies had a big char flavor. Cooked spinach with garlic was uneven, some leaves not cooked at all, others closer to burned flavor. Would not order this, maybe chicken kabob would not have been so greasy. Place is small and they need some noise-dampening floor or walls, which could be added, to make for a better ambiance. Unfortunately, dinner showed up before we even finished the appetizers, and I mean FAST, it was not timed at all. Waiters seem helpful, but not always on the mark, need more training. Deciding whether or not to return, it was not exceptional, but not bad. read more

I came here with a party of 6 for dinner on Sunday. The restaurant was fairly quiet but the staff were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. We ordered both hot and cold appetizer combinations which were quickly cleaned along with rounds of fresh, soft bread. Our entrees included lamb kebabs, arugala salad, octopus and the fish special. Everything was delicious. The olives and salads were flavored with zesty lemon, the hummus, eggplant spreads and olive oil were rich and perfect for dipping, and the meats were complemented well with roasted zucchini, tomato, and spiced rice. My favorite were the dolmas, but I do have a specific soft spot for those. I would absolutely come back with a date or a big group and try the rest of the menu. read more

Excellent food - much quieter than the "other Greek place" in town (which also has good food but is REALLY noisy). I had the lamb kabob and it was very nice. The dish was well presented and the meat very tender. One thing tho' the menus need to be redone - they are getting shopworn and almost tattered. When they are reprinted - a larger type might be better for those of us who would benefit from that. Staff great, owner, right at hand, food excellent - what more could you want! read more

Interesting menu - and fun to have the "turkish" options! Specials of the evening featured wonderful appetizer suggestions, and the two we had were delicious! Main courses were fine - one from the special menu (beef tenderloin) and from the regular menu - Urfa kebab (lamb & gr. beef) nicely combined and spicy with sauce and good vegies. What a find! We love Mediterranean food and try as many local restaurants as we can. This one is a cut above the rest. Each dish was prepared fresh, with care and many fine details, and never over salted. The spanakopita and falafel were both unusually light and medleys of flavor. The lentil soup was was satisfying and plentiful. The Urfa special platter is a tasting sampler of lamb chops, ground beef and lamb, prime rib kabob, chicken kabob, perfectly grilled vegetables, rice, and bulgur wheat. The meats were tender, tasty, and each uniquely seasoned. Our dessert, a poached quince with chopped apples, pistachio powder, pomegranate seeds, and vanilla gelato, took us half way around the world. Service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Considering the ample portions the price was very reasonable. We'll be back with friends. read more

First time to Urfa. Great service and the food was very good and nicely presented. Flavors were wonderful. If you're looking for something new, and not "corporate", try his place. It is small though and by 6pm on a Friday it was almost full so make a reservation if you're going at peak time. Compared to other places in town, prices are great and service is even better. read more

Great place in Los Altos for Mediterranean food. Went there for lunch and ordered a wrap and the appetizer sampler. Portions are generous and good value for the $$. Wraps are yummy and the sampler is a good way to try a variety of their offerings. Would be willing to try them for dinner if we are in the neighborhood read more

We enjoyed our dinner at the Urfa bistro last night. Excellent food the Pea soup was fantastic and the Urfa combo was delectable series of different meats all grilled. This place has some amazing food and good service! We had the Tomato soup with tortilla and avocado, Grilled pineapple and beet salad, the Urfa Kabob plate, Baklava and Turkish coffee. Everything except the Baklava was divine! The service is attentive. The one ding was the Baklava - it seemed to have come out of a fridge, and was not flaky/crisp. It was soggy and cold. This is a find! We like the cold appetizer plate (mezzeh) or the hot combo appetizer plate. I like the lamb shish, my hubby likes the beef shish. We always take food home because the portions are generous. The wait staff if first class and they don't make you reuse your dirty forks and knives the way some restaurants Do. that is a pet peeve of mine: when you pay good $ for food the least they can do is provide clean utensils. The baklava is not as wonderful as what I've had in Turkey but everything else about this place is great. Not noisy either. read more

Ate here today (Monday) with two other people for a business lunch. The interior of the restaurant is pleasant and the tables are not crowded. The restaurant only had a handful of other diners. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Started with the combo appetizer plate, which was a good array of cold dishes including feta and olives, dolmades, hummus, baba ganoush, etc, served with focaccia bread. We then shared the beet salad, which was ok - nicely presented, and a good sharing size, but needed a little more flavor. The other two guests both chose the open face fish burger, which came with fries. They both said the taste was good but neither finished their food. I had the moussaka which came with a scoop of rice. It was a good size portion, good flavor and texture, included both eggplant and potato. We ended with sweet Turkish coffee, served traditionally in tiny cups and accompanied by a rosewater candy. I would return to try other food on the menu. Good lunch spot. read more

I chose Urfa as we had recently been introduced to Turkish food in SF and were hungry for more. i was also looking for a small hidden gem and found one in Urfa. we were a group of 6 and had a excellent meal. we ordered the cold and hot appetizer samplers and it was more than enough for all of use and really delish. The hummus was golden in color and made with squash, unique and very good as was everything on the platter. the Falafel was really good and I'm not usually a fan. they had about 5 interesting specials and we ordered the burrata salad (good but could have been better with a different type of lettuce) and the special branzino fish which was perfectly cooked, delicate and tasty. our friends ordered the lobster ravioli and short ribs (I think) and we all had clean plates. we were celebrating our togetherness so went through a few bottles of wine we brought which they charged us a $12 corkage, very reasonable. they didn't rush us, even though we didn't realize how late we kept them after their normal closing, service was excellent and prices were reasonable. will most definitely go back! read more
