The pastry selection is not all it could be and the muffins are the messiest thing you could possibly try to eat in an airport or on a plane... skip 'em. I've been a long time client spanning years and I've just experienced the worst experience of any order I've placed. I placed an order on 6/14 for a vegan cake. I picked it up 6/16 at 12p as I was told. Without your clerk showing me the closed box, we checked on the way home and found a completely destroyed frozen cake. I called and was told they weren't sure how it happened. I was told by a manager they would remake it and available by 6:30pm same day. I went back at 6:30 (from Glendale) and i was told by another manager "sorry I forgot and never picked up your cake". He offered a refund or Uber the cake from the bakery. I said OK ASAP because I needed the cake by 8 to cut with my family. Cake arrived around 8:30. I called prior to late arrival and was told I would get a full refund. Do not eat at the Earth Café at the airport. It is nothing like the Earth Café in Santa Monica. Attached is a photo of a clods at that tasted like it was two days old. I was very hungry and expecting to enjoy dinner and this place was REALLY BAD! I ordered tomato rice soup and mushroom quiche and it was extremely awful for $25. Soup was tasteless and quiche was dry. Both were awful but I was so hungry I ate the quiche and threw the soup away. For starters, I will admit I never love dining in an airport. However when I saw there was an Urth cafe in the airport, I did get a little excited! I stopped by on a Friday morning for a coffee, and also sat in their seating area for a little to work before my flight. And I must say, it was a very nice experience! The service was wonderful, and everyone working there was friendly and seemed to be in a good mood. I had already eaten, but the pastry selection looked incredible! They had an entire assortment of pastries to choose from, and I also saw breakfast burritos that looked sizable. Their seating area was very spacious and comfortable, which I really enjoyed working at rather than sitting at my gate. Overall I had a great experience here, and even briefly forgot I was in the airport. read more

The LAX location had a long line and they don't tell you that they are out of things, so you waste your time waiting. Nobody expects to have a particularly great time at the airport. You don't expect to have good service, good food, or basically good anything. But a place that's a brand name for quality of food and quality of service in Los Angeles should be better than this. Little did I know after waiting in an extremely long line to get a coffee that they did not have any decaffeinated drip coffee. So instead of making me an Americano or offering anything else the cashier just stared at me with a look as though I was a stupid person who had done something wrong. I made the mistake of ordering an overpriced not particularly good $6.50 almond milk latte when, had I walked a few more feet down the terminal, I could have gone to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and had a delicious decaf drip coffee for half the price. I don't know what particular misery these Urth employees are going through in their work environs, however, they feel free to share their displeasure and unhappiness with their customers. Half a sandwich cost $11. A bowl of soup cost $7. It's the Urth cafe inside the airport, so prices are going to be higher. There are several choice of sandwiches. I chose curry chicken which has a unique subtle curry flavor a gooey cheese, some green grapes. We also got chicken soup bowl to share which was declicious and piping hot. Don't burn yourself. Big chunks of chicken and carrot, this soup will satisfy comfy food cravings. You get a piece of toasted bread with this. We got here at 5pm, ordered three drinks, and we're still sitting here 45 minutes later waiting for two of them. It's not busy. We're surrounded by empty tables with tons of dirty dishes all over them that have been there the whole time we've been there. New customers are sitting down at dirty tables because there's no place to sit and no one is coming to clean them. We finally got up to see what was taking so long and they said we "already got all the drinks" and that we needed to show a receipt, which they never gave us. (The table next to us had the same issue where they were missing a few items and the waiter made them reorder and repay for them. That's absolutely ridiculous). They finally found our two drinks sitting off to the side of the counter and tried to give them to us over 30 minutes old! The blended drink was totally melted and watery and when we asked them to remake them they said it'd be another 30 minutes because we'd be at the back of the line. The workers here are so rude and acting so entitled. I can't believe they have such awful customer service. They made a mistake and are not at all trying to make it right or even apologizing. After asking to speak to the manager they finally agreed to remake the drinks and refund the cost (which is over $12). I've been here before and they were slow but this is so upsetting I don't think I'll ever come back. It's now 6, we've been waiting 10 minutes for them to remake the drinks. ALSO THERE WERE BEES IN THE DESSERT COUNTER AND FLOATING IN THE DRINK CONTAINERS. We told the workers and they didn't even care. The did absolutely nothing about it. read more

I'm surprised about the poor reviews... or maybe we hit it on a good day. The employees were engaging, asked about our day and talked to the baby, and promptly got our orders together. I was planning on oatmeal but I missed the cutoff time so I went with a chicken pesto panini. My wife had a breakfast burrito and something similar to a Thai coffee and a blueberry muffin for our toddler. I found my sandwich to be really good. I didn't think I could polish off the whole thing but I did. Her burrito was a bit on the bland side but we knew that going in as we asked the staff. The muffin and coffee were both outstanding. I understand that being at the airport, no less in Los Angeles, that the prices will be high. Sometimes you just don't have a choice but to grab something at the airport. I am sure there are really good options but I found this one to be really fulfilling and happy with the experience. read more

Nothing like the real Urth cafe experience you're used to. However my biggest qualm is how they warm up the pastry. If I was the baker who baked these pastries, I'd take those ovens and put them on a rocket to the sun. They took a perfectly baked croissant and turned it to rubber. I asked if it's a microwave, and was simply told it's an "oven". NO. That's not a frickin Oven! That's where pastry goes to die a horrible, rubbery death! So if you're getting pastries here, just get them cold. Otherwise, the staff is friendly. The location has logistics issues. They are often out of something. Some mornings there's no decaf coffee, some others there's no vanilla for the green tea late. I fly in this terminal weekly, and I notice it a lot. read more
