If something is not completely perfect, expect things to go plaid with your mail delivery if you have to rely on this place. One of the mailboxes in my building slightly came out of its mounts and nobody got mail for several days because the carrier apparently has discretion when it comes to this sort of thing. I've been here 3 times and 2 of those times they have lost my package with no explanation. How do you lose somebody's mail??? You can see that the package room is an absolute mess. I swear to you there must be a garage somewhere in Long Beach stuffed to the rafters with all the mail that is never delivered. And god forbid you have to actually go to the post office to pick something up. There is a woman walking around asking people in line what they are there for....I told her I needed a small priority box. the fact that such garbage customer service takes place in such a beautiful historical building is really sad. they do not answer their phones, no matter what time of day, and the lady that is usually at window 8 (pick up window) behind the elevators with reddish hair with glasses is always a piece of work. it's one thing to be having a bad day but this lady clearly hates her job. nor does she even bother wearing her mask! today I was simply standing in line when she saw I wasn't holding a yellow slip, which you do not always just magically need to pick something up. she asked if I had one and I said no. she said then this is not the line for me. not knowing my circumstances. you can't hear a word they say if you're not right in front of the window and I wasn't going to just scream over the man in front of me's shoulder so I said I will wait until he's done and then we can talk. I walk up and she again asks me if I have a yellow slip. I said no, my package has been "out for delivery" for about 2 weeks and this is the first chance i've had to come and see if it's just chillin here. she "couldn't find it" probably looked for about 20 seconds so told me to basically fuck off and file a claim, which this post office has a rep for losing packages anyways. there is another lady that works here and she might be on maternity leave, she was ready to pop last time she helped me. she is usually wearing a blazer so she might be a manager but she is always very helpful and is good at her job. this lady needs to find a new career path. she is always ready to just argue with anyone in her line. read more

What kind of establishment has one clerk working to help people get their packages the day before Christmas?! Bull s***!

NO STAR GIVEN! This location has failed to deliver our Business Documents 2 consecutive times! First was 2 Day Priority Mail $6.45. 2 days later, Received a call from Recipient informing never got the delivery. Used the Tracking number, it indicated "Delivered". Called their office to ask what is going happened to my mail, because it's extremely important! The Supervisor tells me I have to call my local branch. I told her it's not their problem, it's your Branch in Long Beach, CA's delivery problem & I need to know where my mail is! She told me she will investigate & will get back to me. I had to immediately go to USPS again & this time Next Day Express Priority paying $22.95 additional on the same documents. (Total spent $29.40 at USPS) Few days later, She called me back & tells me it was delivered by the regular Rep. & their Rep. can't remember who they give the mail to & it was drop off in the mailbox. (if regular mail delivery Rep how can you not remember? I always greed my regular mail man everyday & they know me & my staffs so well) I told her, they don't have a mail box for you to drop off outside of the building. All mails has to be bring in to hand it to the front desk. She tells me it was Delivered & nothing she can do about it (which pisses me off). I asked her for full refund of $6.45, she tells me she can't because its "Delivered"(when it wasn't). Same day after I spoke to the Supervisor that afternoon, I received a call again from my Recipient that the Overnight Express Mail that was supposed to delivery as promised on the receipt has not been deliver again! I used the Tracking number to look up the status, again it showed "Delivered". I had to call back to the same Supervisor & left her messages after messages & she never calls me back! In the mean time, I had to resend my documents again. So this time I totally refused to go back to USPS, instead, I went to UPS Overnight it $41.34 additional cost & the Document was delivered on time. GRAND TOTAL for one mail document I've spent $70.74. I went to my local Branch to ask for my 2 refunds two times, the Rep at the desk was rude, unprofessional & refuses to let me see their Manager On Call to ask for both refunds!! I asked very nicely to see their Manager. What kind of service is this? I demand my refunds in Full with Insurance that comes with on both postage fees I paid! I went to USPS online to make both Claims & demand my 2 refunds with proofs on all 3 receipts & they refused my 2nd claim. I am appealing their denial on the refund! I refused to go back to USPS for any of my delivery services from now on! With the hourly rate they get pay, They shouldn't have problem hiring the right people to do the right job! read more

I am used to various ranges of emotions postal workers will display and have learned not to expect much and be extra kind in my interactions to prevent any need for defensiveness. That being said the postal worker that serviced my requests was okay and I was in and out of there in about 10 minutes. HOWEVER, I was extremely disappointed with the behavior of the postal worker "helping" the disabled customer at the window next to me. The customer was in a wheelchair with limited arm mobility. He informed the woman that the credit card screen/buttons were out of his reach and also informed her that this was illegal. She responded with: "If you cannot sign and accept on the screen you will have to wait another few weeks to get your packages via mail." She did not offer any sort of help or assistance to this man. By the way, he was completely correct about the lack of access to service for disabled individuals at this site AND by denying him service based on his disability is a form of discrimination and against a federal law known as the Disability Act of 1990. After he realized he had no other choice, the man struggled for minutes to move his arm in reach of the credit machine with no help from the postal worker. I attempted to see if the credit machines could be moved but they are sealed to the counter and it seemed like his only option was to either force his body to do something it is unable to do or wait weeks to receive the packages he came to pick up. I honestly feel that postal worker was lazy, disrespectful, and I question if she possesses any sense of emotion, kindness, or empathy for other human beings. read more

This place is the embodiement of laziness, incompetence, and and ineffectiveness. The people at the counter are rude, quick to herd you like a piece of cattle. And if you are a working person and think you are slick to wanna talk to the supervisor, good luck getting him cause he is only there from 10:30-3:30. Some people complain about receiving those orange notes on their door. Well by god, those tickets are like the golden tickets to WIlly Wonka's chocolate factory. They once held a package of ours for over a week, each time the online system said it was out for delivery. I went into the office each day I even brought a printout with the tracking number, and since I didn't have the orange slip, I was treated like I had swine flu, and told to go home and "just wait" Mind you, it was already a week after the original delivery date. And unless you love the sound of a phone ringing, don't bother calling. No one anwsers, one time I waited on it so long for someone to anwser, the phone rerouted me to the customer service call center in Washington DC. Granted part of the problem is that they are overworked. If you need an oversized package larger than a shoebox, it is given to a middle aged, relatively nice quiet man named Armando. The problem is, Armando delivers all oversized packages to Downtown Long Beach...all of it. All 10 square miles, and 100,000 people who live in it. Part of my journey to getting my package involved me going to the wrong window, acting dumb, and getting some guy to explain how they do things. The reason why it takes so long for the oversized packages to be delivered, is that when it is loaded onto a truck, the computer lists it as out for delivery. However, Armado may be given 1 to 2 full trucks of packages, and obviously 1 man can't deliver all that in one day. So if your package is not priority, or placed on the wrong part of the truck, or a variety of sorts, it may take a month to get it, unless you basically phone stalk the Postal Service. I was able to get the package by getting one of the loading guys to take it off of Armando's truck, leave it on his desk, and call me when they found it. So finally I think I have my package, and I leave thinking maybe this was an abberation, maybe they were swamped, but..... 2 weeks later..... WRONG, I have another priority package, that the computer says is out for delievery, i have been waiting for it for a week. Come the end of this week, I intend to go stalk Armando and the USPS again. I think this time I have learned my lesson....stay away from Downtown LB USPS read more

Is there a way to give negative points? So I ordered some packages for delivery, USPS never came through with them even though the tracking numbers say It's been delivered. Maybe they were stolen, maybe USPS lost my packages...who knows? I wonder what could have happened to them, so I call up Downtown LB USPS at 562-628-1303. No answer. I try twice a day for 2 weeks...No answer. At this point I'm like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! I decide to pay them a visit, they quickly turn me away. And give me an alternate number to call 562-629-1309, the lady assures me that the number given is the one next to her. I figure, "Fine, I'll come back and give them time to do their investigation into the matter." I call back two days later, and holy shit, I realized the lady totally blew me off by giving me a disconnected number. I immediately opened a case with one of the customer service lines on the USPS website. I was to get a call within 5 business days they said, I was to get a letter in the mail they said. Sure enough, nothing...abso-fucking-lutely nothing. I didn't care about the package, it was the principle. I just wanted them to pick up the God damn phone. I just wanted to talk to a person at Downtown LB over the phone. At any rate, I ended up calling consumer affairs at 714-662-6215 and they patched me right trough. By then I had forgotten why had called, but whatevs, I was talking to someone. Informed her about all the negative reviews on google and yelp, we read some together. We talked, we laughed, we joked. Supervisor assured me they'd talk to the person handling the phones, but as a government worker myself...It's just a way of saying "Thank you for calling buh-bye." Avoid if you can. read more

I was home all day but nothing! I tracked my item at 11:30 am and it said it was 'out for delivery'. By 6 pm I received an alert stating that 'an attempt for delivery was made at 9:32am' but obviously that is not true!! If I could rate less than one star, I would. I have had a million bad experiences here but have not yet come to Yelp to complain. I'm sure everyone already knows what BS the post office is so I'm probably not doing you any special favors by reiterating that fact. The majority of people I have dealt with at this location have been incompetent and totally rude. I wonder how they keep their jobs - I know that in any other position if someone were to behave the way these people do, they'd be fired instantly. I am certain it will end up with me empty-handed, no package, and no refund. I recently ordered a few necklaces off of Ebay. They shipped from China so I expected it to take a while. Luckily there was a tracker attached to the package so I could keep my eye on things. I know from prior experiences that my mailman finds it absolutely impossible to leave a notice when failing to deliver a package (though failure to deliver should almost NEVER occur as my boyfriend works from home and one of us is almost ALWAYS here - and if we're out together, it's usually at night when the post office has closed.) Literally the entire time we have lived in this apartment, I have ordered quite a few things online (at least 10+) and they have been delivered on time with no hassle maybe once - and every other time, we have NEVER, not ONCE, received a slip. So according to my online tracker, USPS attempted to deliver my package on December 3rd. I did the online "reschedule delivery" thing for the next day. Never showed up. The next day, I went down to the post office to see what was going on. I dealt with my first ever semi-pleasant USPS worker, who, after disappearing to the back for ages to find my package, came back to tell me that the package had an address issue that needed to be corrected, it was undeliverable as such, and had been sent back to the original sender for correction and was back out for delivery. That didn't sit right with me, considering the original sender is in China and HAD the package actually been sent back for corrections, there's no way it would already have been back in California and out for redelivery. The lady was nice and I decided (stupidly) to trust her. Came back home, checked my tracker, there's no evidence of this re-shipment anywhere. I decided to check it again the next day just in case it hadn't been updated yet. Nothing. Yesterday I emailed the original Ebay seller asking if she had any information regarding reshipment of this package. She responded promptly and let me know that, no, according to her information the package had been delivered and she had not received the package back nor had she received any alerts regarding reshipment. I tried calling USPS headquarters only to sit on hold (after I got past the robot) for ages before hanging up. Then called the number listed for this location on the website. Nothing. I called a different location, thinking maybe the number listed on the website was incorrect, and asked them if they happened to have the number for this one. They gave me a new number, the same as the one listed on the website but for one digit. I called. Nothing. So I guess I have to go down there today, only to be told that my package is lost, or in China, or in the middle of the ocean - who knows at this point. I want my package or I want my money back but I know that these idiots will never admit responsibility for anything. My main question is... Why is it impossible to leave a slip when a package isn't delivered? Even better - why is it impossible to walk the extra LITERALLY FIVE STEPS from my mailbox to my doorstep and knock to see if I am home?! Happy Holidays y'all. The mailman accidently broke his key inside the upper lock of the mailboxes here at our building while delivering mail one day. He says a request has been submitted to Terminal Annex in Los Angeles, to get someone out and replace the lock. The same thing everyone at the post office says. Here's the problem, the key broke inside that lock almost two months ago. Mail is not being delivered, and tenants have bills sitting in the outgoing box that the post office cannot retrieve. Every time I ask someone for an update, no one knows nothing. I even went down to the station, spoke to two different supervisors, whom I never received a call back from. I asked her why they wouldn't leave it on my doorstep and this customer service rep of yours says she's not the courier so how would she know. REALLYYYY helpful. The mail carrier that delivers to my house attacked me today. After i asked him if he was sure there was not a package from amazon he began to engage me in an extremely hostile manner. Fearing for my life i ran inside my apartment and locked the doors - he was banging on them as loud as i have ever heard, he then yelled through the door telling me to "come out, im going to kick your ass". I drop off roughly 100 packages a day to this place, I do it before the times when they are supposed to pick up items, they never do it on time. Even when there are 3 people on staff and no one in line the somehow let my items sit till the end of the day or wait till they have to make space the next morning. On top of that the number of my packages going missing is staggering. Give or take a few of the workers most of these people are lazy and don't do their jobs. They literally don't care that the amount of money I provide to them is literally paying their salary. I'm going ups or FedEx. I actually have no real complaints on this place. I live close so parking isn't a big deal for me. I have never really waited too long here but I only really pick up boxes from here so that's a different line. My problem is my IDIOT postmaster that delivers to me. I had this awesome lady before and now I have a man who lacks normal competency apparently. This idiot leaves my gate open pretty much everyday. I'm gone when he comes during the week so I never knew who it was but when I stayed home the other day I asked him and of course he lied and said he doesn't. Neighbor told me she has seen him do it. It appears he has stopped since I said something to him unless someone else is closing it. The other IDIOTIC thing this guy has done is regarding delivery of a box I was waiting for. This place needs to go. As in, it should be shut down or investigated. I went in for a money order to pay for my grandmothers nursing home since the bank was closed. The woman shorted my money order by $720. I didn't noticed until I had driven 30 miles to deliver it and turned right back around to see if I could get it corrected. When I walked up to the window, anxious and afraid I wouldn't get my money back the lady's response was 'oh yes, I remember I did that and was wondering why you had given me more'. UNBELIEVABLE! She knew about the mistake but said nothing to me and didn't correct it when I first came?! This kind of stuff ruins lives. What if I had mailed the money order and weeks had passed? The mistake wouldn't have been caught in time and the chances of getting my money back would be extremely difficult. She turned to a co-worker at the end of our transaction and stated she had 'quite a few money order voids' for that day. Furthermore, a patron next to me was reporting that a package had been delivered at 9:30pm according to the USPS website. 0 Stars. F*** this location. I have an issue every time. Staff are not properly trained to provide even satisfactory customer service. If staff has to do anything out of the ordinary or contradictory to standard mail procedure and protocol, you're going to have an issue. And you're wait time will have just increased by another 15-30 minutes. Most subordinates don't know how to help in any special circumstance so they will often send you to another window line to wait in and speak to a supervisor. One of the supervisors, (younger light skinned African American woman who's fairly attractive I might add) has no patience and drastically lacks communication skills. Her professionalism is shaded by an aggressive and condescending, expedient nature that supersedes her ability to provide quality customer service as well. She rushes you to talk, will cut you off so she can speak, she isn't very willing to go out of her way to help, and she will give you a speech utilizing USPS protocol as justification not to help u and move on to the next customer the VERY FIRST opportunity she can. No willingness to compromise or help, the rest of your situation won't matter. Once you've said or requested anything that requires too much of her you will see it in her body language and probably hear it in her tone. Avoid this location if possible unless you're going for something very simple. They've lost my mail and have no remorse or concern to help resolve my issue. Tucker, another superior at this location, does not do their job with any due diligence. I'm very weary of who hired these 2 individual superiors and why they're still employed. It's clear their take on their positions and their consistent decision to only do the bare minimum has influenced the entire office. So I go to the post office today to pick up a skateboard that was mailed for my daughter but she's in school we are new to the area so I brought my ID and insurance card with the correct address on it I let the guy know behind the counter that it was a skateboard that I would be picking up ..
