    It's the little things

I stopped by this location to buy some stamps and mail a few boxes after a pretty rough morning. The cashier must have sensed I was having a tough day because she wrote a small handwritten note on the envelope containing my stamps. It was such a simple gesture, but it completely turned my mood around. Little acts of kindness like that really make a difference. Thank you for brightening my day!

The "man" who verbally assaulted me

On Friday, September 26th, around 3:30 p.m., I had a very disappointing experience at this location. First, I had been tracking my package online and saw that USPS marked it as "undeliverable" due to "no access." However, no notice was left on my door, so had I not checked the tracking myself, I would have had no idea. When I went to the post office about two hours before closing, the woman working at window 4 (possibly 3, but I believe 4) took down my address but never actually checked for my package. She didn't read what was on my phone, didn't attempt to help, and told me to just come back the next day. On top of that, she was clearly distracted and even on her own phone, showing no interest in doing her job or assisting me. To make matters worse, while I was there, an unknown man started harassing me--calling me names for no reason, even though I did nothing to him. This man was aggressive, and I was there with my child. The employee at the desk did absolutely nothing to intervene or even acknowledge the situation. It's unacceptable that an employee who is being paid to serve the public would refuse to help with packages and completely ignore a situation where a woman (with a child) was being verbally attacked by a much larger man inside the post office. There are plenty of people who would be grateful to work and take this job seriously.

Per usual, USPS should get no stars! Each location I visit is always worse then the next. I came to the downtown Long Beach location to pick up a package. I was the only person in line waiting to pick up a package and then the line started to grow bc the customers in front + the person servicing them decided to have a full blown conversation about God knows what. Total disregard for the growing line as they were clearly enjoying their conversation. I truly and honestly loathe this carrier service.

Good service. Also, many places to drop off mail. Sometimes there is a line, but that's expected. Overall, nice experience.

On 05/18/2026 around 2:30 p.m., a young man (unfortunately I did not catch his name) helped me submit and mail my passport renewal paperwork. I was already feeling extremely overwhelmed due to personal circumstances, and he remained calm, patient, reassuring, and professional throughout the entire interaction. Unfortunately, the employee next to him, a woman with colored braids and eyeglasses, was dismissive and rude toward me. Despite the young man already informing me he could assist me, she repeatedly tried to discourage me from mailing my paperwork there and told me I should go to another USPS location instead. Her approach added unnecessary stress during an already difficult moment. What stood out to me most, however, was how quickly the young man stepped in after overhearing the interaction. He immediately reassured me and took the initiative to help without hesitation. As someone who works in customer service myself, I know how much one employee can impact a customer's entire experience. One person can make someone feel unwelcome, while another can completely restore their faith in humanity. This employee deserves recognition for the way he treated me with kindness, professionalism, and respect. Employees like him are the reason customers continue returning and trusting USPS services.

We were going back and forth about it and then I looked it up online and as I was explaining it her, she walked away to ask her peer for clarification. (So rude!) When I looked it up online, it said I could get a refund on an unused money order that has already been filled out but there would be a fee (Western Union). The clerks were very helpful and friendly. This could not have been easier.
