This is the best one in Mountain View ( especially in comparison with rude service in Castro/hope street area). I had a heavy box, the usps guy even helped me to lift it from the car. I don't know his name (he is Asian looking) but he is AWESOME. Highly recommend this place instead of being treated like crap in Castro USPS office. read more

For passports, appointments need to be made online only at usps website. Also, if you're eligible to renew online the website will not let you make a appt unless you say it's for a new passport. Each passport appt and or processing has like a $35 charge. The lady in charge of these passports is not the pleasantest of people. She is very very direct and straight forward. I came with my baby and my son to get a passport processed. As long as all your forms are filled and you have all your documents plus picture it should go quick just don't be late for the appt. For kids both parents need to be there otherwise the missing parent needs to get a form (found online) notarized and a copy front and back of his or her DL. AND the physical child needs to be present which sucks because their last appt is 2:30 so I had to pull my son out of school to do this since they're closed on weekends. This was the biggest hassle I wish they would accommodate for this. So the last thing needed is their birth certificate and your DL/ID. The whole process doesn't take long as long as you have everything pre-filled out and picture taken but she also does pictures. The 2 star is mainly for not having more hours that are school child-friendly and for the unpleasant service. read more

I agreed with the other reviewers' comments about the clerks' bad attitudes. They seemed to want to let you know that they were doing you a favor. They were inept also. They were not familiar with the different shipping options. Once I had to go back home and print out the priority mail flat rate option I wanted from usps.com and showed it to them, and they were still unconvinced and refused to let me pay the rate as indicated on the usps web page. They kept saying that the box MUST bear the words "Flat Rate" if you want to pay flat rate, which is totally not true. I drove to another post office and the clerk understood me with no problems and I was able to ship it as described by usps.com. Not only were the women at the counter ignorant, they showed impatience when you inquired about whom you can talk to if you want clarification or further help. They would say, "I'm the one to talk to!" In short, they treat customers with contempt. read more

This USPS location has very friendly employees (which, as far as I know, is the only way that a USPS can stand out). The location is nice, but the parking lot is very small. Also, the line can get pretty long at peak times (there's only 2 cashier booths). read more

We use this post office a lot and we really love Grace and Tony. They are always helpful and pleasant. One of the things I really appreciate about Grace (who is really a mailing expert) is that she will mention various mailing options without my asking. In other words, sometimes priority might be almost the same price as first class and she will let me know that that is an option. She is great about helping with difficult mailing questions also. Like any post office, sometimes you get stuck in line, but the card shop is right next to the line so I enjoy looking at the cards that are for sale there. In general, because this is a newer post office, the interior is light and attractive for an institutional building. read more

Missed an express package that required a signature and I returned the pink slip asking for a re-delivery. 3 working days later, the package still wasn't delivered (not a big deal since I wasn't in a hurry to receive it). Decided to go to the post office to ask about it and brought a package with a prepaid label with me. While waiting in line, I noticed there was a cheerful and upbeat usps employee helping his customers and a not so cheerful lady in register next to him. Wait time was minimal and the line moved fast. A few minutes later, I got to the not so cheerful lady. When I gave her the prepaid package, she asked what do you want me to do with this? WTF do you mean? Can I not simply drop off a package at the counter? Keep in mind this post office doesn't have one of those APC drop off slots for packages but nonetheless there is nothing wrong with a person waiting in line and giving a prepaid package at the counter. I really do not understand this mentality. Some people like to hand off packages at the counter and some people like to have a nice entry/acceptance scan. I pulled out a note with the tracking number written on it (didn't have the pink slip because I had already returned it) and said I needed help locating this package (it was supposed to be redelivered, and the tracking information hadn't been updated for a few days). She stared at me blankly and said oh you can do this yourself online. A little bit confused, I explained that I had missed a signature and I wasn't sure where exactly the package was at which point she cut me off, yelled pickup and directed me towards the pickup window (which is normally closed). The employee who helped me at the pickup window was nice and courteous. If I had gotten the cheerful guy, judging by the way he helped other people, he probably would've taken my package, scanned it and asked if I needed anything else. Unfortunately, I didn't, so instead of a 5/5 this USPS gets 3/5. read more

This place is a scam for passport application. Every time I call I get an appointment for a month away. I find it impossible to believe that every single appointment for the next month is taken. I think the staff here for passport application is a freeloader and pretty much everybody who is given an appointment a month away never takes it. So, tax payer money goes to someone who is doing nothing! read more

Horrible. Gave me a salmon slip saying they missed me on a Saturday when normally they leave the package in my mailbox. If it doesn't require me to be physically there to receive my package or to sign anything, LEAVE MY PACKAGE instead of having me wait for two days for it to be redeliver. And even though I sent a redelivery request, they STILL haven't redelivered my package on the day I requested, instead they took my salmon pink that I left out for the couriers. Gave 'em a call asking where my package is, they said they have no idea. My package better not be lost or stolen. read more

This post office is sub-standard. Service at the counter is mind numbingly slow. They don't put more agents at the counters when the line is long. And they've stopped the practice of letting people who have to quickly pick up held mail do so at a side door without waiting on the interminably slow-moving line. They also delay in transit mail at the post office for days without delivering it. We have tracked items regularly that we see have been received and scanned as received at this p.o. that they don't deliver until up to 5 days later. When we try to call to inquire about undelivered mail they don't answer the phones. We tried letting the phone ring for at least 20 rings. At some point the USPS just disconnects the call. As an experiment (because we are still missing the aforementioned mail) we set up an autodial. It ran for 45 minutes of those 20 ring cycles. No answer. No pickup. Perhaps there is no staff & no postmaster at the Miramonte location during business hours. The ops at the Miramonte USPS location are pathetic. read more
