The lady at the desk got black, inky finger smudges all over my wedding announcements. She also wrote the postage prices in her own handwriting with ballpoint pen on the backs of the envelope flaps because she had trouble managing the 17 envelopes!!! It was a storm of emotions...anger, sadness, disappointment. I'd put so much work into those announcements (handmade 5x8 cards & envelopes, with photos, calligraphy, etc...). The envelopes, all ruined in one fell swoop. I realize that things get bounced around in the mail, but I rarely/never receive greeting cards that have large amounts of dirt or damage on them. This lady simply does not wash her hands & does not care. As soon as she grabbed the first one, I saw the smear from her inky/dirty hands across my uncle's address. My in-laws have a perfect 4 fingers and a thumb mark on theirs, my cousin's resembles a 'dust cloud', etc, etc... How embarrassing it will be when they see the postage prices hand-written on the back envelope flaps!!! Oh, goodness. It was so shocking, I couldn't say anything. Even if I did say something, this lady probably would have kicked my ass. You can't say ANYTHING too the people at this station because they will make you pay for it in some strange, passive-aggressive way. I've seen them mistreat others in line, and know to keep my mouth shut. (At x-mas 2 years ago, one USPS lady was throwing some girl's papers on the floor, making her bend over and pick them up!!! This girl was not even being rude!!). She was also too lazy to look for any other stamps save liberty bells, but that's just a side thing. Been going to this location for 3 years. Line is always long, parking lot always full. Feels like you're walking into a courthouse, since they have one person asking everyone who walks in what they have with them. It was actually a little uncomfortable when the line-guard made me take my envelopes out of my bag and announce to the 20 people in line what my business was. I may not go back. Was waiting in a line behind a lady who did not get her mail for months, she could not pay bills because her pay check never arrived. Is it to much to ask for you to do your DAMN job? Thanks so much for refusing to scan my priority mail packages after I waited in the long line expressly for that purpose. Why is the machine in the lobby from which one can order postage almost ALWAYS broken? Why does no one ever ever ever answer the phone? Why does the phone ring a few times and then go into a high-pitched tone? Why is there always a line? Why is the service so poor? Why is no attempt made to coordinate the busy-ness of the time of day with the number of employees serving the public? Why is a woman allowed to sell her wares in front of the post office illegally, without a license? I am going to write to the US Postal Service to see if anything can be done. But if you can possibly use another post office, you should do so. read more

Once again we made the mistake of requesting that our mail be on vacation hold for two weeks, then delivered the day after we returned. No surprise: the held mail wasn't delivered. So, I went to the post office myself and was informed that there was no mail for us - over a two week period - no mail?!?! Thus began a search for where the mail might be. The supervisor, Faith Scorza, rudely informed us that there was no mail, and that was it. She said that even though no mail was delivered, there was no mail for the two week period - no bills, no letters, no circulars, no brochures, no catalogs. Quite unbelievable in the middle of Los Angeles. We placed a complaint with the national office - in fact, three complaints over the next week. Each time we were told that someone would get back to us in 48 hours. Need I say that it never happened? After all kinds of gyrations, I was finally able to reach someone at the national office and while there was a record of my posting complaints, they were rather astonished that I expected a response from them. Finally I was directed to Customer Service for the Los Angeles area who told me that the supervisory at 90035 would be contacted. You'll never guess that the supervisor said the same thing: there was no mail. So, there's nothing more to be done. Is it any wonder why the Post Office is rapidly becoming a thing of the past, like buggy whips and butter churns? The only disappointing thing is that these employees who don't give a damn about anything, will receiving a healthy retirement for a long time, for really doing very little, for the most part. Is it OK to say that the postal system deserves to go bankrupt. The line is 35 minutes long, I have young kids with me who need a restroom. Limited time before I need to do other kid-related stuff. They won't open up a new window for the 25 people in line, but the extra guy on duty asking the line whether we need various services that no one needs. We need service, that's what we need. So again, he turns and leaves us to wait, comes out dotes around to pick up small pieces of trash while all of humanity gives him the hairy eyeball. What's wrong here? EVERYTHING!. This place rots and its management deserves to be out of work for a long time while they attend common sense college. Yeah yeah, I know, it's all the union's fault--labor division rules, etc. So let it go bankrupt, because it's unfixable. The USPS reviews are usually negative but this one is not :). I have a PO box at this location and perform all of my mailing business there too. Folks like Wanda at the front and Simone behind the counter, to name just a few, are always super nice, prompt & professional. I can't say enough good things about these folks. Sure, you will get that one off person with an attitude every once in a while, but that's with any business. All in all, I am very pleased with everyone at this location. Horrible! I called and called to get information about getting a passport no one picks up,ever!! Then after I go in they tell me they don't process them even though it says they do online! WORST customer service. Tried to call about a package that was addressed one number off than my correct zip code (sender wrote 90067 instead of 90066) and the woman I spoke to wouldn't even let me get a word in edgewise and kept cutting me off/talking over me to the point where I just had to hang up. She clearly didn't listen enough to understand that I was trying to find out my options to get my package. Needless to say, my package was never found/never returned to sender. read more

This is the closest post office to my office, so I often find myself going there on my lunch break when I need to mail a letter or parcel only because it is convenient. Customer service here is typically very poor and the lines move excruciatingly slow. The building itself is worse for wear, and they are often out of stock on envelopes and boxes. Typically after each experience here I tell myself "Never again - I'd rather wait till the end of the day and try to hit the post office close to my home after work." Today I had a frustrating experience. I paid the postal clerk, handing her a twenty dollar bill. She looks at me and says to me "We can't accept twenty dollar bills. Do you have any smaller denominations." I say to her "That's all I have (which was true!)." She rolls her eyes, shakes her head at me, and says "You and everyone else in LA giving me twenty dollar bills. Because of that, I am always running out of change and have to get up and go to the back room every few hours to get more change." Well, ma'am, EXCUSE ME that you have to get up periodically to make change. Ahem... that's your job. Don't go around chastising customers for paying with commonly accepted monetary denominations. This is unacceptable customer service. I wasn't in the mood for making a scene (plus I wanted to get out of there ASAP because this unabomber-looking customer wearing a vest with numberous walkie-talkies and remotes was freaking me out) so I just left. But like I told myself time and time before after visiting this post office, never again! read more

Super great for their passport services. I've been getting my ish together to get a passport, and the big hurdle has been the delay of one thing after another. Well, this place came through for me! I was able to get a next-day appointment by calling in. Sadly, my (hilariously failed) attempt at obtaining a passport photo indicated another delay was in the offing. Trying to be courteous, I called to cancel and explained why. Turns out they DO OFFER PASSPORT PHOTO SERVICES!! The official website says they don't, but they DO. Just make sure to let them know when you call for the appointment! All in all, everyone was very kind and polite and my paperwork was processed within about 20 minutes, despite a whole lot of people returning Christmas gifts while I was there and me showing up late. read more

Don't know what happened I've been going to this location for over 20 years everyone pleasant but the person today said the service I've always used never existed was the rudest person I've encountered in years. Said each ENVELOPE would cost over $16 to send. I went to FedEx got better service they are getting there faster and all totaled less than $14. If you have to go here, use the machine in the lobby to mail packages and buy stamps. Easy and human-free. If you absolutely have to talk to a human, do not go to the light-skinned guy with glasses. He is ALWAYS difficult. I used to volunteer at an animal sanctuary for fun and sell various antiques on ebay to make a living, so simetimes after a day in the pens, I would go to mail my items. I was kind of dirty one day and the guy sneers at me and says "What do you do for a living?" And I say, "I work with exotic animals." And he says, "Why?" Ugh. At least I don't get paid to be a jackass to people all day. Here is another example. One holiday season I got a package to my address, but it was not addressed to me. I put "wrong addressee- return to sender" on the box and left it outside. It left the next day and came back to me the following day. So I took it to the post office and there was a lady walking in the line to help expedite the holiday mess. I told her that the box was likely addressed incorrectly by the sender and that I thought it should be returned to them. She took the box and said she would return it to the sender. The next day it was back at my house again. I took it back to the post office and waited in line. I got to that guy's window and told him the saga of the box and he just stared at me. Then he said "I'm not gonna take this box." I asked why and he replied, "How do I know there's not a bomb in there? How do I know you're not trying to compromise national security?" I stared at him, dumbfounded. He said, "You have to open it." I said, "It's not addressed to me." He said he didn't care and that I had to open it and see what was inside. I said, "let me get this straight- this box is NOT for me and I'm supposed to open it. And furthermore, you suspect it may be a bomb, and you want me to open it...here?" He exclaimed, "No! Go outside and open it." So I shook my head in disbelief and went outside and opened it. It was car parts or something. I brought the box back in and tried to go to his window, but he was already "helping" someone else, and he waved me back to the end of the line again. I went the back of the line, amused, but red-faced and P.O.'d notheless. By then the lady who expedites things was back in the really long line asking for package pick-up slips, mail hold slips, etc. I stopped her and told that I wanted to return this damn box to the sender because it wasn't for me. She asked, "Why did you open it if it wasn't for you?" I tolld her the whole story and that he thought I might be compromising national security by returning mail that wasn't for me. She shook her head and took the package, "Yeah, he can be a little odd sometimes." A little odd indeed. People know- I have seen three people in a row offer to let the person behind them go to his window- even if they've been waiting for a really long time--and even if there's only one more window open. Also, I went to a different post office once--a NICE one on Beverly at Curson-- and the lady said, "Did you just move here? I've never seen you before." I was shocked and impressed that postal workers would even be aware of their customers to that degree, and I said that I usually go to Preuss but I couldn't deal with that mess today. She said, "Oh, there's that real odd duck that works there." We had a good laugh. read more

This location is awful! The hours during the work week are 10-5, so anyone who works a regular job is S-O-L. Even during the holidays they don't accommodate with better or more flexible hours. Whenever I do happen to make it into the facility, there is an atrocious line that takes a lifetime to get through. I've also had problems receiving mail for the previous tenant, despite my nearly two-year residency and calling multiple times to ensure my name only is on the box. This post office is a gem. The people that work there are extremely helpful, especially whoever is manning the little stand when you first walk in. They have helped me numerous times with the "self service" machine, so that my transaction goes much smoother and faster. I mailed a priority mail package on Saturday to my daughter in New Orleans and it got to her by Monday, which was very impressive. Btw, the reason they removed the mailboxes in the parking lot was because someone was putting sticky stuff inside the lip of the boxes to catch the letters, so they could steal whatever was inside. I have the unfortunate luck of living in this postal area. A lot of my mail arrives already opened. I put in a vacation hold order and they didn't deliver the mail on my requested "resume date," so I went to the office before closing time and they said they didn't know where my mail was. One time I mailed out a job application CERTIFIED mail and it never got to my destination. By the time I figured it out, I had just missed the application deadline. I once dropped off a check to pay a bill at their office and someone erased and rewrote it to themselves for about $500. Had to deal with the fraud dept of my bank for that one. These are just the things I remember- there are probably more. Now when I have to mail out something important, I just go to the Beverly Hills post office. read more

If you are missing a piece of mail or a package you have to call them very early in the morning before the carrier leaves the location. A warning: they do not pick up rightaway. It took me a day or so to make sure my package was delivered at the correct address because the sender had to wrong street address. But since the mail carrier knows me, since he regularly delivers to my address, it was not so difficult. You have to be patient. Times have changed. We are many, thousands they deal with. Nothing is as perfect as it used to be. Even Fedex makes mistakes. read more

Worst ever service and lies! On a Friday I sent an overnight express to an Embassy in Washington DC. They said it is guaranteed delivery by next day noon. Even their system said so. But it did not make it on time. But their system said they left an attempt notice at the delivery address. But the Embassy it not receive it. I called the local post office on Monday (they were closed during weekend) and they said "because the Embassy does not open Saturdays they did not even go there". Yet their system lies about the delivery notice. So I did not trust USPS and did not use the return paid envelope. Instead I used the FedEx which made on time. Yet USPS refuses to refund my paid return shipment, by saying I need to give them the envelope that I never used. I don't even want to give them one star. But yelp wouldn't post without it! read more

Really? I'm a little surprised by some of the reviews... as if people are truly shocked about getting "attitude" from employees. They are relentlessly dealing with some terrible and/or difficult people. Despite the negative posts, each time I've had to send packages from here or pickup office mailing supplies the staff have been nice and friendly. read more

The wait here is better than some other post offices nearby. Parking is pretty easy, however getting out is awkward if you want to head North as you technically aren't supposed to drive North on Alfred from this location. read more

I have had the pleasure of dealing with every supervisor and they are all equally useless. If you are ever lucky enough to find yourself in a situation where you have to come down here, you are basically screwed. They will NEVER admit to being at fault for ANYTHING. Firstly, I want to praise the stellar service by Wanda at this Alfred Street, 90035 USPS Branch. The window clerk with glasses and a beard proved to be quite useless but Wanda came in like a wrecking ball of pure bliss. She moved like a Russian ballerina from her cute mobile stand to the window with speed and elegance, ushering me away from Mr. Hopeless. Frankly, I was scared when she put her hand on my shoulder as she really appeared out of nowhere. Wanda was incredibly kind, patient and smiling, literally the Yang to the Yin poster child of USPS aka miserable, unproductive and crude. I came in with a retailer's prepaid printout and she quickly grabbed an envelope, a label cover and scanned the package. Literally, in and out in less than 5 minutes at a USPS. Statistically speaking, I have a better shot of winning Power Ball than that happening again...unless Wanda is there. The Postmaster General better watch out because if Wanda keeps this up, she'll be the first African American woman to sit in the big chair. read more

I have been coming to this post office for 15 years. The line is usually very long and annoying. I highly recommend the post office on Pico Roxbury. There are never lines at this location and the people at the front are super nice and awesome. Only negative thing is it closes at 3 o clock. read more

It seems like the attitude at this station is less interested. Most of the counter folks are just plain not happy, slow, irritable and not willing. Recently we have shipped 3 separate items from this location and they have not made it. Two separate times. We have also received envelopes opened from 90034. It's a real shame, I generally have liked USPS, but the uptick seems to be laziness. They don't answer their phone. The 90028 one takes forever to pick up also. Sorry. read more

The outside of the building looks terrible, the inside looks old and not well maintained, the hours are terrible and are sometimes changed without any significant public notice, and everything is disorganized. There are massive plexiglass barriers that make communication more difficult, and the racks of supplies are usually close to empty and/or disorganized. If this were a private business, they'd be run out of town. (in case you were wondering, I'm not an antigovernment conservative.) This post office just stinks. read more

Just called the USPS complaint line to notify them of FAITH SCORZA who is a supervisor at this location. She was VERBALLY ABUSIVE to a room of 40-50 people waiting in line. She had two people working at the windows even though five other employees were walking around doing nothing. Had she simply said, "I'm sorry. We're doing the best we can," everyone in line would've understood, at least the 20 people I talked to while waiting. I waited 35 minutes to get to the window. A couple people ahead of me told me they had been waiting 60 minutes. Absurd! I understand if you're a manager and you don't have enough people to meet consumer demand but don't talk back to your customers. read more
