the lack of communication when inquiring of my package was frustrating. i didn't know i would have to sign off on the package so i missed the delivery time and had to do a redelivery on their website. the thing is i scheduled a redelivery for customer pick up as the lady told me to come in tomorrow (which was saturday the 12th) so on my lunch break i drive over and the post office is completely closed, no one is there, it's locked down. I never knew the post offices were closed on the weekends, at least not to that degree. but why would you tell me to come in let alone why would the website recommend doing the redelivery on the 12th if it was a weekend date?? I try and go to modify the request and it says that it's expired, i have to make a new request. I go to make a new request and it denies me, saying i need to modify the old request. i just want my damn package read more

I ordered something off of etsy recently and my vendor shipped my product out on May first. The USPS tracking estimated date of delivery told me it will arrive around May 8th by the end of the day. May 8th comes around and nothing. I checked the tracker around 10pm and guess what.... it was updated to "Delivery status not updated". And I sat around for a few days just wondering if it'll come late or something but nothing. I emailed USPS an inquiry of my missing package and I get a call the next day and a man from this establishment tells me that my usual carrier delivered my package and may have forgotten to scan it. But guess what... I have received NOTHING. He still insisted that the package was delivered and that I may have overseen it but I was not born yesterday and I would know if it was there. So after a few minutes of me telling him over and over that I never got it, he replied with "we will continue to review your case" or something along those lines. And what pissed me off was, yeah they lost my package, but the man INSISTED that my packed was delivered and I just didn't check carefully, when it clearly wasn't. read more

The workers are nice and they always give their best effort to keep the line moving quickly. Plenty of parking spaces and they have a quick check out line if you are in a hurry. The place also has the priority mail packages in the front and there is a big sign behind the counter for pricing. I don't mail a lot of stuff so sometimes sending packages can get confusing, the workers are always helping me out to pick the best package to use for the best price. THIS IS THE WORST POST OFFICE TO CALL ON THE FACE OF THIS ENTIRE PLANET!!! They NEVER pick up the phone. I have called for over three days now for hours at a time. Either the phone rings continually and eventually hangs up or its a busy tone. I need to get a passport for my brother and this post office takes appointments only. If they can't provide proper customer service via phone then they should do an automated online system or any alternative because this is very frustrating! This is BY FAR the worse branch I have ever been to. They do not account that your parcels, big or small, are extremely valuable and they do nothing to ensure that packages reach their destination. If I were you, I would take my parcels to UPS. While they charge, the employees there have always understood that your packages are valuable and each item has a TRACKING NUMBER. TWICE NOW, this location has managed to lose things I needed sent out. They give you a useless tracking number on your receipt. First time, they lost iPhones meant to be returned to T-mobile. THE SECOND TIME, they lost a letter enclosed with a deposit for grad school. I waited to make this review to make sure I didn't review angry but damn it, it's been years and I'm still angry. Unless you're sending off a meaningless letter, visit. Do it at your own risk. read more

I don't know how other USPS Offices are but I've been to only one other in Concord and they all seem to be the same. A little sad and drab, but hey, they do their work well and efficiently. The parking lot isn't that big, but most folks go in and out of there fast. There are post boxes that you drive through which is nice if you're not trusting of your own mailbox. This USPS is a little smaller than the Concord location but you get what you come in for usually which is mail something or buy stamps. read more

I've a small Po box here, and their customer service is terrible. I often have packages that don't fit, and there is no line specifically for pick ups. Furthermore, it takes them more than a few days to notify me that a package has arrived. It is a waste of my time for some of the reasons listed above. I have had times where I didn't get any notifications from them at all, and I had to show them my online tracking status in order for them to find my package. How unorganized. read more

I decided to come mail my package at this post office since I was in the area.. and I'm glad I did! We came around 4pm, and the lines were super long, which I expected. But the best part was when I got to the counter to get my package mailed. Since I'm not a regular, I don't know if he always works here, but the Asian guy (didn't get to catch his name) was the one who helped me out. He was super helpful and took his time to tell me all the options I had to mail my package. When he found out I was mailing a gift card, he joked about how I should send him one, too. We definitely had a good laugh during our conversation! It's nice going to a post office where the workers really want to help you out and don't seem to hate their jobs! read more

I hate this branch. They NEVER scan your package at the counter when they should. This is ridiculous, this is the second time they have lost my package. It looks bad on me because it looks like I never even sent the package but I did. ALWAYS ASK TO SCAN YOUR PACKAGE so you can liability is transferred from you to carrier. Otherwise you'll be in my position where your tracking number isn't even updated or shipped. read more

I can't believe I am giving a US post office 5 stars, but hear me out. I come here usually every two weeks to mail care packages to my husband. I came in on Nov. 18th around 3:30pm, and the line was almost out the door but I waited in line for maybe only 5 minutes before I was helped at the counter. They are super quick! Not only is the staff helpful, the other customers here are friendly, despite standing in a long line. I plan on mailing out more Christmas care packages and even though the holiday season is the busiest time of year at the post office, I have no doubt that I would still have a good experience here, and that is saying a lot! :) read more

Well, it's the post office. I have to wait in line because the mailman refuses to release a package and writes me a note on the form I requested and released the package to come pick it up. Whether it's this location or the other that services my home, they are consistently late in delivering vacation held mail and have asked me to pick up as well though they were to deliver the accumulated mail. I also got a call from the post office with a nasty message when I had filed a complaint online about the union city post office. Should have saved that voice message. read more

USPS management - This is my first negative review probably. Still could not stop ... I lost a package a week ago, I went to USPS website to check and it shows delivered. That was not possible because I were at home whole day and my camera shows there were no USPS package delivered, but I did get a POD from website with a fake signature and a dummy address!!! I went to Union city USPS office today, the supervisor first said that they delivered to correct address but shipper put a wrong address, then I asked for picture of shipping label, it shows shipper did put correct address! then she said they still sent to correct address per their online system, but when I asked for a proof for that, she questioned me back why I think they have time to do that? I am so curious, now it is me who lost the package, I am not looking for an apologize but I was complaint all the time since I talked to the lady, why a supervisor do not know how to tell if shipper put a correct address or not? and why I was sent away as " nothing they can do". That is all the service we got for what we paid??? read more

This post office fulfills all the needs we have for mail. It is only a few minute drive from home, and I go there when I need to ship packages or buy stamps. The lines can be really long on weekday afternoons, but I usually use the automated machine, so I don't have to wait in the line often. The other problem though is the parking lot gets really full. Like all the spots are taken, and you can't go in until someone leaves. It can be quite a time delay waiting for that. The other downside is you can only turn right driving out of the parking lot. My house is back to the left so that adds a little time driving home. However you can turn right and then take another street home, so it's not the worst. The people working here are nice for the most part. There was one woman I really didn't appreciate during a visit a couple years ago. However, I've had her help me since then and she was fine (not very friendly, just okay). Overall it's really clean and is a great post office! read more

Ive been a regular at this branch roughly 4-5 days a week since 2001. Because of this i know alot of the workers by names, and have seen the different post masters come and go. My rating maybe a bit bias, but this is from my experiences. The people behind the counter are very friendly and they always help me out to the best of their ability when i have problems (lost mail/insurance claims) When i have bulk items in a day, the guys in the back will get a bin for me to dump all my items. The postives - friendly and helpful, good size parking lot, automated machine for smaller packages (so you don't have to wait for the counter line) The Negatives - lines get long during the holidays, tax days, and mondays (if you go there late like within 30 min of closing time, you might be waiting for 15+ minutes) read more

They just misplaced my mail on 9/20/18. Package says delivered but it is not in my mailbox. This is the second time in a month my mail has been misplaced. 1st time a neighbor kindly dropped off my letter with MY CHECK IN IT at my front door. Sad since I just moved to union city and have only been here a month!!! Called their office repeatedly and nobody picks up the phone. On my way there now to try and talk to a supervisor. I just came back from this spot. The line wasn't to bad for a Friday afternoon at 2:00. However, the cashier guy that was helping me was not very helpful at all. I came in with a package that had to be sent out. I ran out of tape at home so I thought maybe the cashier could tape it up and I could send it off. Instead he had me buy a roll of tape. Not sure if it's some new policy but the old post office I used to visit didn't have any problem sealing a package. Clerk # 14 also threw me a dirty look when I told him I didn't have any money. Still he insisted that he could not accept the package open. Now I had to hold up the line & run to my car and beg my dad for some change. Wouldn't it have been a lot faster to just tape the package for me using the roll of tape on the counter behind him? Other than that it was a clean facility with knowledgable service reps. read more

The customer service at this location is better than the ones in Hayward, however, there is only 1 cashier, so it can go slow. During weekends there is nearby events like the farmers market, parking can be more difficult. read more

The Union City Post Office provides a phone number but no one answers this phone. The Post Master provides an email address but email is rejected at this site. This post office again is returning our mail to senders in place of forwarding it to us as we requested. Most of our mail is not being forwarded to us. read more

3.5 stars. I came here to send off an order today, and it was my first time doing it. The line proceeded fast and when it was my turn, I didn't have any labels to send the information. Well, the lady was nice and didn't have an attitude, but she kept saying the labels were on the wall and she pointed in that direction. She knew that it was my first time, but she really could have been more specific because I wasn't familiar with any of the packaging materials. I kept asking her, "which ones?" Typically, I like to avoid the use of USPS as much as humanly possible. The drab atmosphere, the eerie feeling, the long queues, the occasional excessive coughing from unhygienic strangers, everything about the place just screams "government establishment" and no place makes me want to leave any faster. However, I needed to help my grandfather renew his passport since he didn't speak any English so much to my dismay, I had to make a trip to the Union City location. Truthfully speaking, it really wasn't *that* bad, so I rate it a solid 3 stars. The employees were quite helpful with explaining the process to me as well as patient while waiting for me to translate to my grandfather in Chinese so he could understand what was going on as well. The downside is that the employees also looked as fucking bored as everyone else did - they moved very slowly and I guess if I had to describe it in one word, it would be ... lethargic. --- When it comes to anything that UPS could do, truth be told I would rather go to a UPS spot. Much better service and queue times aren't as outrageous. However, if it's absolutely mandatory for you to head to USPS, this Union City branch really isn't so bad. Just try to beat the queue times. read more

I've sent a lot of packages from a lot of different post offices and this one is my favorite according to a few things: The parking lot makes sense! It's like a oneway race track with ample room and parking. I can predict when it will be busy so I try going in on the off hours between 1-3pm...but even if there is a lot of people, the associates are very efficient. There is an automated machine that will ship smaller packages and sell stamps in the lobby that is open 24 hours! Best idea ever. read more

Very bad customer services for passport renewal. They are very rude and don't give you enough information such as making copies of the papers needed as they charge way more than outside. Not friendly, so mean and they should change the staff that handles passports. read more

Every time I have been here, there is a long line. True, it's usually after work or on the weekend, but I also went on a Friday in the morning. So be prepared to wait. However, the line usually moves pretty quickly (you always get one customer who doesn't know what they want, or wants to argue). The parking lot is tiny, but I have only not been able to find a spot once. The post office also does passports, but do your research before you go! Passport hours are not all the time, and it takes up to six weeks to get it. You also may have to make an appointment. read more

I believe the branch manager of this USPS location has a "don't-answer-the-goddamn-fucking-phone! policy" in strict full implementation since i have been calling them all day (around 30 calls) trying to set up a passport appointment but nobody answers. Not even a machine saying they are busy and unable to answer the phone. If they don't or can't schedule appointments through phone, at least they should say so online at the USPS website or an answering machine recording on the phone. read more
