This place is SO GOOD. Ordered so many things and still feel like I could have gotten more. We got the bun bo bue, hu tieu nam vang, banh cuon as our main dishes. We also love banh mi so we ordered 3 classic cold cut sandwiches to go. Could be better. While looking at the menu, the cashier was a little overly eager to take our order. We were still looking at the menu but he asked us about 3-5 what we wanted in less than a min. We tried standing away with the menu in hand but he just kept asking. He seemed nice and I'm sure he meant well but I can see some people having a problem with that. The scoring isn't based on our experience but more on the taste of the dessert. The menu didn't have the ingredients. The cashier didn't know what was in it as he kept look at the picture on the display. At the end it wasn't even made with what was in the picture. I expected Che but what I got was kidney beans straight from the can, green beans and what was suppose to be banh lot. He put two slashes of sweetened coconut milk and called it Che. The place has potential -- do better. Updating this to include their banh mi. I tried the classic cold cut and increasing the review by 1 star (originally 2). They didn't skimp on the meat. A little heavy handed on the pate and butter and I like a lot on mine. Overall similar flavors to ba le. Most important for me is the butter and it's done right here. Tried this place for the first time over the weekend. The Vietnamese coffee was on point. Strong and not too sweet. I also got the cold cut sandwich, and contrary to another review, I was impressed at the amount of cold cuts in the sandwich. The bread itself could use some room for improvement as with most of these local banh mi shops. Coming from California, where there is an exorbitant amount of banh mi shops. I find that the bread really makes the sandwich. I also got a side of sticky rice which according to my sister (who is a sticky rice fanatic) needs some pickled radishes which gives the dish some crunch. Today I got the BBQ Beef Bahn Mi and it was delicious. I've been here a few times for coffee and tea, I really recommend the Passion fruit tea! I've been to banh mi places all around Boston and thought to try this one that opened in Wollaston. I bought 3 things, cold cut, bo nuong (bbq beef) banh mi and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The cold cut was hands down the best all around. The mayonnaise and pate was fragrant and they gave a good amount of meat. The beef was not the best. Their beef was sliced too thick and it lacks the grilled flavor that the place in kam man has. It was only ok. Their bread I can't comment since I ate the sandwich an hour after I got it. I ordered a tofu banh mi and I don't know what they did to that tofu but it was AWESOME. I eat (and cook) a whole lot of tofu as I am vegetarian and I've never had it this delicious... sort of velvety and silky in the middle with a nice crisp on the outside. Wish I knew their secret. The flavors of the sandwich were GREAT and the bread is made fresh right there. My husband wished there was a bit more beef in his, but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed it! I heard good things about this new place but I had try it out myself. I'm a huge fan of their banh mi (sandwiches). I usually get the cold cut (#1) but I've also tried the bbq pork.
